(i stole the title )

OP posts:

I have no idea how that happened. I hadn't even finished typing.

Was going to make a witty observation on my never needing to have stitches. On account of having a Bucket Fanny.

BadZelda · 14/05/2007 17:55

I bought some from superdrug last time? Just super heavy menstrual pads? Had some mothercare ones as well - but tbh they were quite rubbish - huge and uncomfortable, and didn't seem to be any more absorbent than the menstrual kind. Really hope I don't bleed for 6 weeks solid this time! (for first-timers: don't think this is standard - I just got unlucky)

BadZelda · 14/05/2007 17:55

Hah hah - me and best friend have been calling each other 'slack fanny' and 'bucket fanny' for years ;)

foxybrown · 14/05/2007 18:10

Oh, apparently I am on more that 40 threads in last 3 days. How did that happen

daisybump · 14/05/2007 18:17

There's a quaint turn of phrase around where I grew up, and Derlor will be familiar with this too...that having sex with a woman who's had kids is like "throwing a sausage up a close" (a close being a communal entrance for a block of flats) It maybe loses something in the translation, but you get the picture....
.....and if DH says it to me once more, he won't have any sort of sausage to throw anywhere!!

daisybump · 14/05/2007 18:20

Back on the subject of sanitary towels, I think I just used normal ones last time, but as I ended up with a section, there was no pysical trauma to the area and the fallout was really just like a heavy period, but I suppose if you have stitches you wouldn't want it getting too sweaty down there for infection etc.

foxybrown · 14/05/2007 18:23

Aye, throwing a sausage up an alleyway. Nice huh? LOL at your DP losing his sausage!

daisybump · 14/05/2007 18:27

Foxy...I'm on 14 threads and I thought that was bad enough....now we know where you disappear to for hours on end....and there I was thinking you were off being No1 mum!!!

foxybrown · 14/05/2007 18:29

oh shit

foxybrown · 14/05/2007 18:31

In my defence, m'lud, I have not seen my DP since Thursday night and have very limited exposure to adult conversation over the last 3 days given my inability to get out of my pyjamas or shift my ever widening arse off this sofa (which, incidentally, has started to sag in the same spot)

I rest my case

daisybump · 14/05/2007 18:32

Is that the sofa or the arse that's sagging? .....

......or both

annobal · 14/05/2007 19:07

Hi everyone, I'm away for a few days and you've almost finished another thread!

I've had a horrible stomach bug and started having contractions (not trying to make the thread title about me, promise), so have been in hospital since Thursday - I got out yesterday and have been sleeping and trying to keep food down (sorry, tmi). Cervix firmly closed thank god and contractions stopped (just v annoying bhs now).

N&T&E - love the blog and congrats on the house - that's great news!

foxybrown · 14/05/2007 19:14

Shitty shite Annobel, Hope you are OK!

Couldn't have been much fun being in hospital (or can I admit to being a bit ).

Don't go having another scare like that please!!

foxybrown · 14/05/2007 19:14

Both Daisy, both

NattyThomasandEllen · 14/05/2007 19:17

evening m'ladies..
okay so now im knackered.. and u have done nothing today (other than estate agents)
oh wait i took the pushchair apart and bunged it in the washing machine.. i havent stopped
sitting eating pasta bake, and i must say what lovely conversation at dinner time lmao.
IMO maternity pads are crap, i find the nightime period towels with wings worked better.. but that might just be me!
oh and a tip for any 1st time c-sectioners if u tape (use medical tape!) a towel over ur stiches ur trousers wont rub on them.
full of useful information me.

annobal · 14/05/2007 19:29

No - no fun , they took every bodily fluid they could to test and have been ramming antibiotics into me, along with injections to develop baby's lungs and to stop me being sick. Oh, and I hate hospitals - am now reconsidering having baby at home...

That said, I have finished my book and caught up on all the crappy magazines on the shelves (did you know that Posh has put on weight, and lost more??).

NattyThomasandEllen · 14/05/2007 19:32

i heard she put weight on cos she was TTC? maybe she preg and has terrible morning sickness? i lost loads of weight with this pregnancy.

i put on a pair of NORMAL (not maternity) jeans today (size 14, so one size higher) and i can do the button up under my bump.. so i must have lost weight on my bum and hips if i can wear the same pair of jeans i wore in the weeks after having tom BEFORE having ellen... im confused now. worried i havent put enough on, im smaller than b4 i fell pregnant..

annobal.....hope you're OK . Try to rest up as much as possible and I'll keep it all crossed for you. Hope you feel better soon and the contractions calm down. Whatt I experienced seems minor in comparison, but it felt bloody scary at the time so I can imagine how you're feeling....Take Care of yourself. xxx

Natty....I don't know anyone in your neck of the woods, let alone anyone with a van...but wish I could help

derlor · 14/05/2007 20:45

What a busy day!!!!!!
OK let me try to catch up with everyone..
Annobal - take care of yourself, hope you stay well from now
Daisy - "sausage up a close" - clearly Edinburgh folk have NO decorum - i am SHOCKED at your expression!!!!!!! (yup heard it LOADS of times - not about me though obviously )
Holly - i cried at tikabilla this morning too!!!! My DD was glued to it!!!! also lovely about your shower gift - lucky you
BadZ - about your phone
seansgirl - good to have you back - we've missed you
Foxy - (((((((hugs))))))) to you Mrs grumpy grumper - not long to go now think you are just saying what we are ALL feeling x
Oh i can't remember anything else - sorry if i've missed anyone out - i have a shite memory.

Seansgirl · 14/05/2007 20:52

Annobal, what a horrible few days for you. Hope you are feeling better now, like Daisy said try to rest up and not do too much!

On the Tenalady subject my DM gace me a pack of super duper strength ones that she was given as a retirement present (nice people she worked with eh? - teachers what more can i say !)and I have to say they were invaluable from absporbency and in the coverage stakes IYSWIM! felt very secure in them! Bumper, I would say its personal choice and personal after ahem, whats the proper word? is it lochia or somethinbg like that? I guess we all differ. Some people only have that after time for a short while - whereas I had it for 12+ I think.

Seansgirl · 14/05/2007 20:56

Hiya Derlor! Hope you are well!

Can I ask a HV question?
