Poor daisy and your tena purchase!

Twiga · 14/05/2007 15:11

Hi all, had our further scan today (34+1), baby's kidneys still measuring on the big side and still no clear answers so we'll just have to see what happens when they scan him after he's born. Oh and he's not breech - hurrah! Bottoms up but back to back which may make for a hard labour, which could make the VBAC dream a bit harder but hey positive thoughts! Took an absolute age at the hospital appt was at 9.45am and I finally left the hospital at 1pm, clinic always running late - needless to say dd was very tired, hungry and grumpy by the time we got home - has gone for a wee nap though, will be joining her shortly .

Just in case you haven't checked the Secret Shower thread - to my swapee it's in the post and I hope it will be with you by tomorrow - enjoy!

Seansgirl · 14/05/2007 15:37

Good news Twiga! Enjoy your kip very I asked my DD if 'we' could have a kip and she said "No, but I think you should just have a quick shower instead of a bath tonight and go to bed early!"

NattyThomasandEllen · 14/05/2007 15:44

The house looks great Natty....and the garden doesn't look too small...at least it gets the sun, you'll be able to sit out there all summer rocking the LO gently whilst Thomas plays contentedly on the grass (picture of a home life, eh?

Thomas looks gorgeous. Ds has got that whole blond thing going on...blond boys are just the best

Like the look of your blog.....I'm not computer literate enough for doing that sort of thing.

foxybrown · 14/05/2007 15:56

Great blog! You are only 21

House looks great! Wouldn't worry too much about childproofing the garden, we have the least child friendly garden and never had any terrible accident (save for one child riding their bike down the stone steps)!

Right, have small children to attend to. Have guest for tea. Am so not in the mood for childcare!

NattyThomasandEllen · 14/05/2007 16:01

aww cheers guys!
its where i will be sticking the pictures of ellen when born.. i can text pics to my blog from my phone.. i think. if not DH can do it for me!

Should I be buying Tena lady for after the birth...?

Just got back from town (again - got to stop spending, plus it knackers me out), got 2 pairs of boots from Primark for £3 each!

Great house btw NT&E.

Ah you've been reading my thread. Thought it might be controversial. Just was feeling a bit sad about the bad atmosphere on here sometimes. Not on this thread though obviously!

daisybump · 14/05/2007 17:11

Someone on Lilkel's hospital bag thread suggested using the Tena Lady pants rather than maternity towel/disposable pant combo, but not sure how absorbent they would be, never having had the need for incontinence products (until now that is )

Whats the difference between maternity pads and normal sanitary towels? Boots had slimline maternity towels at £1.99 for 12, whereas their normal super strength towels are only 99p.....is it just a rip off?

Trip to IKEA was eye-opening today. There were lots and lots of babies/small children around and in the cafe the noise was horrendous. I sat there in amongst the tears and the tantrums and the really high pitched screechin just thining "What the hell have I done? Is it too late to change my mind?"

daisybump · 14/05/2007 17:11

What thread bumper?

foxybrown · 14/05/2007 17:17

Were the tears and tantrums yours Daisy?

No difference with pads as far as I can tell. Go the cheapest IMO. Paper knickers with normal over the top (you'll bin both in the early days).

Oh, I meant to say, I read an article in this months Eve yesterday about post-natal shock (as opposed to PND) and it made a lot of sense to me. Its only a short article, but one worth reading I think.

daisybump · 14/05/2007 17:22

I'm still suffering rom Post-natal shock 5 years on, and from what I've read it doesn't leave you till they've left home

Actually there was quite a good thread the other week about Birth trauma (one of lulumamas fave subjects)...I went through my notes with my consultant after DSs birth and it helped put things in perspective, otherwise I could've been in a much worse state emotionally as it all got a bit out of my control after a point.

The tears and tantrums weren't mine Foxy....no point with out DH as my audience

hollyandalice · 14/05/2007 17:24

Urrrr...I just fell asleep on the sofa and I've woken up and feel like shit! You know when you wake up and feel like your head is full of mush and your eyes are all puffy! Grrr...

Great blog natty and lovely house! I wouldn't have anything interesting enough to fill a blog! Mine would go "today I watched cbeebies and ate ice cream", "today I went to tesco", "today I did some hoovering"! It's a fun filled life I lead !! Also you have taken my youngest on the thread crown !!! Glad everything has worked out for you!!

Something I read somewhere said to buy the really cheap really thick pads for afterwards as they are not plastic backed and won't get sweaty and make your stitches sore.

foxybrown · 14/05/2007 17:50

So is that the main difference - you shouldn't have plastic backed ones post labour? Makes sense I guess.
