Hi all, I’ve been following along but haven’t posted in a few days. Been very nauseous this week. Yuck. Can’t keep up with the speed of this thread!

@DrWhy I feel exactly the same as you. I have a 16mo DS and whilst this is a very much wanted baby that we were trying for, once I got the positive test I cried every day for a week thinking I was going to upset his little world and our lovely relationship. I have a brother who is just over two years younger than me and we get on but we’re very different so don’t really have the close relationship I really want DS to have with this new little one. I can’t imagive DS not being the baby anymore! DH is so so excited though so that’s really helped me get my head around it.

bellanotte22 · 21/03/2018 10:43

I did a digital one yesterday and it said 3+ which tallies with my dates.

Not sure when to tell mine. They're a bit older at 8 and 5 so I suspect they might twig with me feeling off colour. I think we did get a book with my second which helped. They're only stipulation when discussing it in theory was that they wanted a brother Blush

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 21/03/2018 10:47

@MrsFTigalar DS is 8 and we plan to tell him a few weeks after 12 week scan if we can get away with that long. He is desperate for a sibling and is amazing with babies so I have no concerns about him other than the normal not being able to spend as much one on one time with him. He's been only child/only grandchild for a long time so it may be a little unsettling for him at first. But he's such a loving little boy I can't see it being to much of a problem.

BadBadBeans · 21/03/2018 10:53

@minime2017 I'm really sorry to hear that you have cramping and bleeding. As someone else said, do get yourself to the EPU if you can just to check. Best of luck to you xx

@NoCatsHere It's so reassuring to hear that you felt free to change your mind until very late on in your pregnancy. Thank you again for sharing :)

@bangwhistle I can definitely identify with feeling slightly less worried about miscarriage this time round. I think I feel a bit like that because I have my gorgeous DS and therefore already feel like I've won the lottery. However, I also know that the feeling of sangfroid is probably just because I'm early on, and as the pregnancy begins to feel more 'real' to me, I know full well I will get increasingly worried about it going wrong and increasingly protective over the little bubba growing away inside me! (Don't get me wrong: if I did miscarry now, I would be incredibly upset - but I'm just not actively worrying about it as much as I did in my last pregnancy. Yet...!)

@SkyLucy I definitely wanted a sister but am pretty happy with my brother regardless! Ha.

@mrsd1103 @confuddledconfudle I'm also Devon-based! If I have a c-section I'll probably end up being at the RD&E so lovely to hear that they are good! I've also heard amazing things about Honiton.

Welcome @OuiChef @Fluffybat @DrWhy ! I've been panicking about the impact it will have on my DS as well DrWhy. Once I'm through the first trimester I'm going to be buying lots of books preparing him for a new baby - he loves his stories, so hopefully this will help! @MrsFTigular I am going to start telling my little one 'properly' at 12 weeks, but he's only 20 months so doesn't really understand. His daddy has already told him that he's hopefully going to be getting a brother or a sister in November, but obviously that was like speaking Greek to him!

@hellotoyellow sorry you've had worries. Two weeks will drag, but it's good that they are going to scan you again. x

@mrsFTigalar We are probably going to share with our DD around 12 weeks. It's been tough going due to the HG I have not to share now, but we've held off so far and thankfully she's accepted me being ill without loads of specific questions. My DD is 4 though so they'll come a point when she'll start to ask questions (especially as I don't think my tummy will stay small for much longer, the bloat is immense!). If she'd been younger we may be able to hold off longer!!

This is the book I think I'm going to buy her when we tell her. It's tailored to an older child and I think she'll enjoy looking at each week. At least I hope she will!!

@skylucy thanks!

Emelene · 21/03/2018 11:31

Not sure if anyone else is aware of this but I've found it really helpful:

https://datayze.com/miscarriage-reassurer.php

Basically a data calculator showing risk of miscarriage but presented in such a positive way - showing likelihood of continued pregnancy. Smile

Clarigirl87 · 21/03/2018 11:50

Wow that’s a really helpful website! I’ve been referred to EPU for a scan tomorrow because I had some bleeding yesterday 😞 also my blood pressure has rocketed so got to take medication for that. I spent an hour at the GP this morning, she was so lovely and thorough though.

MiniMinions · 21/03/2018 12:13

@BadBadBeans thats great re potty use! Our son is 3 in a few months and we have the occasional success but he still likes his nappy! slowly slowly here!

Welcome to all the newcomers and congratulations!

@wejammin yep I have started saving, little bit each week!

@sarahhh1984 am glad to hear that no infection in second sample

@Magpie24 and @Katy16 - hope spotting eases for you both

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer - we had a month wait for my dad's funeral this month and I must admit I was really stressed about everything (still am!). Sending lots of love as like me it's not the greatest time to want to be all happy about pregnancy but at same time worrying about others etc.

@MrsFTigalar - we are also like others going to tell DS (nearly 3) after scan when we tell friends etc. Am also after any book suggestions etc

7w+1 here and omg am so tired - not quite sure how I am functioning at the moment, had awful headache yesterday. Am also constantly eating a load of rubbish!! I have had some sharp twinges this morning (not cramps as only short) so am hoping just indegestion or something from all the carbs and sugar!

One thing I am bit worried about is carrying/lifting my son too much - mum hasn't reassured me much as she reckons too much of that didn't help when she had a mc. Those who have 2+ already any advice?

keepinghopeful · 21/03/2018 12:27

Hopefully all those spotting it comes to nothing ☹️.

Tmi - do yous have much creamy discharge? Some days ive loads 🙈

Katy16 · 21/03/2018 12:34

Minime17 So sorry for your loss.
My spotting us still carrying on but no worse, no cramping though. I'm too scared to take another pregnancy test. I'd rather just carry on hoping for the time being than have it all dashed by a negative. Everyone's medical care seems to be very different. My GP said my local EPU wouldn't even take a referral until I'm 7 weeks! He just told me to see what happens and keep taking pregnancy tests.

NoCatsHere · 21/03/2018 12:58

mini i have two ds age 7 and 3 and with the three year old who would be carried everywhere if i let him i've started to try and limit it, and hold his hand up and down stairs and in and out the car, just saying my back hurts or my tummy is sore or whatever just to get out of it a few times. i used to pick him up a lot, but with two mc's last year i'm being extra careful this time. I'm sure it's ok, i'm probably extra cautious though so maybe not the best to ask!

Magpie24 · 21/03/2018 13:04

My spotting seems to be slowing. None yesterday and only the very very pale brown today with my cervical mucus looking like it's returning to normal. Hopefully this is a good sign but am terrified of a missed miscarriage. Next scan is after Easter.

@Emelene yes I love that website! I check every day

MeredithShepherd · 21/03/2018 13:14

@keepinghopeful yes!!! Sometimes I go to the loo thinking I must have wet myself but nope just loads of discharge! Pregnancy is so glamorous!

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 21/03/2018 13:46

@Emelene love that website

Thanks @MiniMinions it's really tough at the minute for us all. Thanks

BadBadBeans · 21/03/2018 13:55

@Emelene that is such a lovely link - thank you!

@Clarigirl87 good luck with your scan; let us know how you get on.

No idea about carrying toddlers. I've been trying to stop my little boy from wanting to be carried everywhere for a while now. He's a bit of a whopper - 91st centile for weight and height - and I'm quite small - ended up in physio over Christmas because my back froze up from lugging him around! We normally limit carrying to up and down the stairs (I'd rather not, but sometimes it's the only way to actually get him to the place I need him to be) and to when he's particularly upset. However, this morning I managed to get my car stuck on some ice while taking him to nursery (I live on quite a steep hill) and I had to carry him back up the hill to our house for help. NOT ideal!

@confuddledconfudle and @BigBadBeans wrong part of Devon, we've gone from being close to one hospital to being between two at equal distance from us.

ALRM · 21/03/2018 16:01

Hi all, jumping on the bandwagon!

I am 4 wks today. This is my third pregnancy but previous two ended in a missed miscarriage and then an ectopic. So understandably I am nervous.

Would be keen to join a FB group as I find these threads can be hard to keep up with but I am going to try!

wejammin · 21/03/2018 16:12

Oh crap I actually cried at work today. Bloody hormones!

My company is in a big mess at the moment and we're going through TUPE, but loads of people are leaving, my good mate who I share an office with told me she's got a new job, and it's a job I applied for but I didn't get an interview. I was really pleased for her as it's a great job, but no-one knows I'm pregnant and they're all leaving and I have no energy to think about applying for new jobs now....

Waaahhhhhh.

She must have thought I was mad. I didn't cry in front of her but kept it together and dashed off to the toilet for a good while.

Also I swear my boobs have doubled in size in 24 hours.

TinyPaws · 21/03/2018 16:40

Welcome and congrats newcomers!

@Clarygirl87 @Katie16 @Magpie Bleeding must be so scary, really hope you all have good outcomes, keeping everything crossed.

@ALRM I'm 4 weeks today too!

@wejammin That sucks, the last thing you need is work stress on top of everything else but life just keeps on going doesn't it!? My boobs have suddenly ballooned too, my work tunic today was suddenly very very tight today. Yesterday's fit ok! I'm going to try ordering new ones one size up as there's no WAY I'm going into maternity tunics at 4 weeks because (a) it would be tantamount to announcing my pregnancy to the whole world (b) they are hideous.

Picklesandpies · 21/03/2018 17:35

Sorry I've been a bit absent and not kept up with the thread. I've been a bit worried that things aren't progressing as they should be because my clear blue digital still says '1-2' at 5 weeks 4 days and I don't have any stage.) However, no bleeding so hoping for the best. Scan booked for April 4th when I'll be 7 weeks + all being well.

Welcome to all the new people! Smile

hellotoyellow · 21/03/2018 18:09

Welcome and congrats to the new joiners!

@weejammin @tinypaws I despair at my boobs. Trying to put off buying anything until I know everything's okay. I really want to run but am terrified of the pain when doing so/tight running bra, I went to yoga yesterday and nearly cried lying on my front!

The tiredness has also kicked in. Fell asleep at my desk yesterday. Today I was visiting family and I fell asleep for two hours on the couch. Despite eight hours of sleep last night. Really worried about work tomorrow...

TheUbercornMum · 21/03/2018 18:18

@Picklesandpies those digital are notorious for not giving you an accurate reading. I remember getting myself so worked up last time and reading about them so much so some doctors say not to use them. Just to say it was a successful pregnancy, and everything was just fine.

Also the lady who did my early scan told me that she often sees ladies who are up to 7 days out date wise at early scans as we obviously don't know when everything implanted so in my early scan I was measuring two days different to what I thought as things obviously took a bit longer, so add in the variance if you don't know when you ovulated and our bodies all do things differently etc etc it could be a week out. That's even if the digital is giving you a proper reading as hcg rises differently in all of us.

I know easier said than done but there could be a few reasons why it's not giving you a 2-3 weeks reading. BiscuitCake

Picklesandpies · 21/03/2018 18:39

Thanks @TheUbercornMum That's encouraging to hear. I wish I'd never used them to be honest. They have honestly caused me nothing but anxiety. I meant to say, I have no symptoms not 'stage' - not sure where that came from! You have a point about implantation perhaps happening later. I only found out I was pregnant a week ago tomorrow so I suppose it could be that I was only just pregnant then and not 4 days late as I thought I was.

I can't believe the scan is two weeks today... time is seriously dragging... Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom!

belkins · 21/03/2018 18:56

Wow, this thread moves quickly!

@picklesandpies as @TheUbercornMum says those tests are notorious for not giving an accurate reading. I've looked into them so often to work out the levels and it's confusing to say the least. I know how tempting testing is – I think I’ve done at least 8 tests so far as I’m still having difficulty believing it. Hope you can find some distraction to pass the time (I’ve recently started building lego as was stressing out with work etc – thought it was just a stupid idea but actually it’s been great!! Smile).

@minime2017 so sorry to hear that you have cramping and bleeding. Hope you’ve been able to get to your nearest EPAU unit to check Flowers

I had an intrilipid infusion on Monday (basically a drip full of mayonnaise) as part of my immune therapy, plus daily heparin injections and all sorts of other tablets in an effort to get this one to stick. I had a blood test on Monday and my levels were at 195 (I would have only been 3+6) and then another one today – I’ll get the results tomorrow so please cross your fingers that they’ve doubled.

@tinypaws and @ALRM I 4+1 today with a due date of 28th November. I’ve also got bigger boobs and am bloated but I think that might be the progesterone side effects for me Grin

moomoo85 · 21/03/2018 19:37

I am feeling so sick. Yesterday I spent between 9pm and 2:30am being sick. This evening it is starting to build again :(
