@Aussi Bounty reckons it should happen between 10 and 13 weeks: www.bounty.com/pregnancy-and-birth/pregnancy/scans-tests-and-screening/your-12-week-pregnancy-dating-scan

@Aussi, where I live we're told the scan should be anywhere between 11 weeks and 13+6, although they try to get you in as close to 12 as possible. I'm being seen at 12+2 for mine, but my BIL's partner is with a neighbouring trust and has her's when she's 13+4. Looking on the bright side, she said the wait is hard but she should get to see more on the scan being that bit further along.

sarahhh1984 · 03/04/2018 20:19

@olderthanyouthink Sorry you had to hear crappy comments. Not sure why anyone feels they have the right to comment on your personal life. Although, I will warn you, once you tell people you're expecting you'll be in for a lot of unsolicited comments on all manner of things so prepare a good pretending-to-listen smile. 😂

For the record (and feel free to ignore my own unsolicited comment!) I think your manager is wrong. While putting career first suits some people, there's a lot to be said for having kids, getting that "out the way" as it where and then focusing on your career once you know you're not taking anymore mat leave. That's why I've gone for such a small age gap between DD and this baba.

sarahhh1984 · 03/04/2018 20:20

Keep pressing post to early! This is the last one!

@Picklesandpies, hope your scan has gone well. Glad you could get it moved.

TheImprobableGirl · 03/04/2018 20:28

Badbadbeans I used to be fairly fit, running 5k most mornings with a swim as well if the weather was good, but it took 2 years to fall pregnant with this beastie, so I've gone back to first baby nerves! (This will be my third fingers crossed)

Aussi, my scan isn't until 25th April when I will be 13+3, and that was done after my initial scan so must be ok? Will speak to the midwife and explain that I want the tests doing, so they can possibly bring it forward a little.

I am super impatient - definitely going to find out what I'm having, sort of secretly hoping for a boy after two girls spawned from the mouth of Disney themselves. (Dd2 cried today as she had mud on her shoe Hmm )
Would be lovely to have a mummy's boy! Saying that I know where I am with girls and the clothes are gorgeous Grin

Any hopes/anybody finding out what they are having?

MeredithShepherd · 03/04/2018 20:49

I’m finding out what I’m having and I’m secretly hoping for another boy. DS would be 100 times more accepting of a brother than a sister.
I’m stupidly worried that I won’t love this baby like I love DS. I know I will logically but I don’t see how I have enough in me to share it out! It was just DS and I for 3 years so we are literally inseparable. I’m just overthinking it!

sarahhh1984 · 03/04/2018 20:59

@MeredithShepherd I've had those thoughts about not loving this baby as much as I love DD. Logically, I know I will, but I sometimes look at DD and think that I love her so much, how can it be possible to love someone else as well. A friend told me she felt like this when she was pregnant with her second so
I think it's normal.

Secretly, DH and I are both hoping for another girl. Don't get me wrong, we'd be made up if it was a boy and we'd love him to bits. It's just we know what we're doing with a girl... We're prepared for stealth wees when changing nappies, not wee shooting up in the air! 😂

MiniMinions · 03/04/2018 21:11

Have got my booking appointment tomorrow and can't remember what sort of things they ask? I'm hoping that they will be able to bring stuff up from records from last time as I can't remember what I said! Am really hoping that I can get scan date tomorrow too.

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 03/04/2018 21:11

@sarahhh1984 it's the wee that gets you in the eye that you need to be wary of Wink seriously.... I speak from experience!

I'm secretly hoping for a girl so that we've one each but will be happy either way.

We buried FIL today so a bit of an emotional day. But glad it's over after such a long wait for the funeral.

Felt OK for most of the day today. Only felt a bit sickly the last few hours which is great compared to the last few weeks! Hopefully I'm just tired.

Hope you're all ok. Thanks

sarahhh1984 · 03/04/2018 21:19

@MiniMinions At my booking in they had everything on the computer still. So they just went through it and confirmed everything was still correct. Just Health history questions for me and DH plus our immediate family. Also questions about my last pregnancy and birth etc. But for the most part they had it all from last time.

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer Thank
you for making me laugh with your wee anecdote! I feel like death warmed up at the moment so a smile is good! Sorry it's been an emotional day for you but, as you say, at least he's at rest now after such a delay. I hope it's been cathartic for you and your husband.

Picklesandpies · 03/04/2018 22:22

Just to update - it wasn't good news. There was a black blob that she said could be the gestational sac but no baby to be seen. So it's on the form as a pregnancy of an unknown location. She can't completely rule out ectopic pregnancy or that it might progress (but I know it won't due to my dates) so have to go to GP tomorrow and probably to EPU. Feel absolutely gutted but I have known something hasn't been right. Thanks for all your support, you have been a lovely, lovely bunch. I really do wish you all healthy and the happiest of pregnancies. x

toasterstrudle · 03/04/2018 22:28

TheImprobableGirl · 03/04/2018 23:26

Oh pickles that is really crap news, look after yourself

dontquit · 04/04/2018 00:03

So sorry to read your news @Picklesandpies. I miscarried my 2nd pregnancy at 7weeks too and it is truly an awful time. Mine was similar in that I bled a bit then scan showed just a sac with no sign of baby. I went on to get cramps and bleed shortly after the scan and was rescanned a week later to confirm all was complete. I hope yours is a similar experience and it doesn't go on and on. Like you I was also certain of dates so knew there was no chance I was earlier than thought.

Haven't posted for a while but following always. Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you. Xx

Picklesandpies · 04/04/2018 03:27

Thank you for sharing your experience @dontquit - of course I'm sorry to hear that you went through the same but it's comforting to read a similar experience. Makes me feel less alone. Hoping things just happen naturally too x

TinyPawz · 04/04/2018 04:16

Have been reading up about the whooping cough vaccine offered. I had whooping cough as a child, would those antibodies be sufficient ? Or will I need be vaccine?

The vaccine is a 4-1 jobbie, diphtheria, polio, whooping cough & tetanus. Does anyone know how long these last? I was vaccinated in 2012 as part of my job overseas

sarahhh1984 · 04/04/2018 05:37

@TinyPawz I think the advice is to have the vaccine during pregnancy regardless as it's not for you it's for the baby, at least, that's what my midwife said. I had the vaccine early in 2017 when I was pregnant with DD, but I've been told I need to get it again once I'm around 16 weeks (advice has changed apparently, it used to be later in pregnancy). It's so that the vaccine is passed on to the baby as they can't have a whooping cough vaccine until they're older, but it can be very dangerous for newborns to catch it. Double check with your midwife but pretty sure that's the advice.

sarahhh1984 · 04/04/2018 05:37

@TinyPawz Oh, and I also had whooping cough as a child.
