Yeah I had an early scan too - saw the heartbeat flickering away. It was a bit of a heart in the mouth moment when she couldn't find the baby for a while though! Was anyone else scanned with an ultrasound in the antenatal clinic for their early? She seemed to think I was there for the 12 week scan so wasn't really prepared and we couldn't really see anything but a fuzzy blob.

Haven't had such an early check before so don't know what's normal!

toasterstrudle · 29/03/2018 22:56

Haha how weird @wejammin! How are you feeling about the new job? When are you planning on telling them? I'm dreading the conversation although I'm sure it'll be fine. I was hoping to hold off until 16 weeks but I don't know if I have enough scarves to artfully drape over my stomach until then!

TinyPawz · 30/03/2018 04:24

Driving myself a little insane back to taking tests. To try to make sure that it is still there. The epu scan has really thrown me for a loop. The two miscarriages are playing on my mind. I really wanted the epu scan to reassure me but only seeing the sac has done the company late opposite. Himself doesn't know what to do with me. This will be his first so is completely clueless and is trying to be super positive.

toasterstrudle · 30/03/2018 07:23

Aw @TinyPawz I'm sorry to hear you're so worried. When is your next scan booked for? Could you phone the EPU and explain your history and how you're feeling to try and expedite things?

TinyPawz · 30/03/2018 07:32

Next scan is for 10th. When I was there on Wednesday I was pretty much told don't be coming back unless pouring with blood Sad. No bleeding at the minute thank goodness and still sore boobs. Tests are still positive. All good signs but definitely going to be a long week and half.

toasterstrudle · 30/03/2018 07:38

Poor you, that is a long wait, things feel like forever when you're worried. No harm in doing some pg tests if it reassures you! Heres some positive testimonies of people who had the same experience at an early scan and all was well!

Once Sunday's been and we're into April it hopefully won't seem so long. I'm waiting for my 12 week scan which will be my first on 20th April and sometimes it feels like forever too. I have also done random pg tests sometimes just to check, even though I know it doesn't actually mean anything really! Thanks

@TinyPawz I feel for you. Hoping the next week and a half speeds by. I had spaghetti bolognese for tea last night and was so so bloated afterwards I literally farted my way through the night! I never realised t could make you so windy before Grin

wejammin · 30/03/2018 08:58

@toasterstrudle they already know, for various reasons, but mainly because my boss will be an old colleague of mine who I'm good friends with so I felt l had to tell her or I would be really deceiving her. They've been great about it. Bit gutted about losing statutory mat pay but I was being made redundant so not much I could do about it!
The worst bit is that it's a really formal office so I need all new clothes, and I can't find a nice affordable maternity suit. Am scouring eBay but nothing yet.

Anyone else waking in the middle of the night with incredible hunger? I'm trying to eat something before bed but then I'm awake with wind for ages!

keepinghopeful · 30/03/2018 09:03

@wejammin yep me though then it is accompanied by quite bad nausea!! I was eating dry crackers & water at 2am this morning 🙄

HanahMarie · 30/03/2018 11:26

Hi - just introducing myself

Found out I was pregnant with our first just under 2 weeks ago (am now 6+4) - completely overjoyed as we have been "not-not-trying" since about June last year...

Slight spanner in the works is that 'Dad' decided to propose in Jan and we are getting married in October this year - that's right - gona be a shotgun wedding 🙈 if all goes to plan I will be 34+4 on our wedding day...

I'm already over it and despite having already ordered (and paid for) a dress that I now won't be able to wear - I'm already excited about carrying our baby down the isle Smile

We have our first MW appt on 11th April which should put me at 8+2 - other than Dad so far I've only confided in my BFF (who has a 10month old - my goddaughter) as she smelt a rat as soon as I turned down sushi and wine Wine and as a first time mum I needed someone who could help me with the early symptoms - and get me set up on here Smile

So hi everyone - I look forward to sharing this journey with you all Confused xHx

Symptoms so far include:

  • massive boobs (and sore)
  • orange juice cravings
  • nasty head cold (last few days)
  • (touch wood) no sickness...yet
AJ89 · 30/03/2018 12:15

@Hanahmarie I love orange juice at the moment too!! Wonder why? Sugar / vitamin c maybe?

MeredithShepherd · 30/03/2018 12:45

I think DS may have slapped cheek.... I don’t have a midwife yet as haven’t had my booking in appt and docs are shut until Tuesday. Should I worry?

toasterstrudle · 30/03/2018 13:18

@MeredithShepherd phone the early pregnancy unit near you (phone your hospital and ask for it if you can't find the number) and talk to a midwife there, I don't know much about it but slapped cheek is one I've always been told to avoid in schools.

toasterstrudle · 30/03/2018 13:19

@MeredithShepherd or NHS 111 number x

Clarigirl87 · 30/03/2018 13:42

@meredithshepherd I’m a teacher and we got told of a case at work literally the day after I found out! Spoke to my GP and they had me in for a blood test the same day. Most people have a natural immunity anyway so don’t worry too much!

marchblossom · 30/03/2018 15:37

@HanahMarie @AJ89 I'm loving orange juice too! And eating so many of them too. And mangos...I'm basically either eating delicious juicy fruits or pizza, bread, chips and waffles Confused There's no middle ground haha!! Grin

HanahMarie · 30/03/2018 16:12

@marchblossom @AJ89
Good glad it's not just me - a little tip with the OJ - when I'm finding it too acidy I mix it with a bit of water or put lots of ice in it to dilute it down 👍🏻

Don't stress about the pizza - we had THE BEST curry EVER last night - I'm sure it was just average but it tasted SO GOOD!! 😆

Magpie24 · 30/03/2018 19:05

@MeredithShepherd how are you getting on?

moomoo85 · 30/03/2018 19:09

@MeredithShepherd sorry to hear you think your son has slapped cheek. If you have had your booking bloods drawn they can often test your immunity on that. If not your GP can organise a check on tuesday. There isnt much that can be done before that

TheUbercornMum · 30/03/2018 19:47

@Moomoo85 hope the cyclizine is helping.

@MeredithShepherd hope you're OK and managed to work out what to do.

MeredithShepherd · 30/03/2018 19:52

I rang 111 and they said to just mention it to midwife on Tuesday. I work in a children’s day nursery so they said I’m more than likely immune anyway. Fingers crossed!

Magpie24 · 30/03/2018 20:02

@MeredithShepherd fx you'll be fine :) so glad to be off work today. Absolutely shattered, have had two naps. Am ravenous also but constantly queasy.

DP said week 8 is worst for nausea. This is my first, can anyone corroborate?

BunBunMum · 30/03/2018 20:07

@TinyPawz I’m a serial tester too! With my miscarriage in January the test got weaker so I kinda knew things were going badly. I had some random bleeding last friday but nothing since and still testing positive so hoping this bean is stickier than the last one.....

TheUbercornMum · 30/03/2018 20:11

@MeredithShepherd fingers crossed all comes back fine.

Sickness wise last time I was worst at 10-14 weeks but yes, 8 weeks is a typical nausea and sickness time. It varies with everyone when is bad for you and how sick you get (I get HG) but standard morning sickness can kick in strongly around then and be horrid and a lot of friends were loads better by 12 to 14 weeks. This time mine was bad bad bad from 7/8 weeks (I've just tipped 10 weeks and still not over the bad bit, but like I say I'm on the extreme end). Hope it passes quickly for you!! It's truly a grim part of pregnancy.

Picklesandpies · 30/03/2018 20:38

Anyone approaching 7 weeks with no symptoms? I'm feeling so anxious about my scan next Wednesday. Just not feeling anything. The
