Pregnancy apps: my fave is 'Pregnancy Week by Week' which is nice and simple, tells you to read one article a day, charts your weight etc, but the handiest thing is there's a kegel / pelvic floor exercise tool, which gradually increases in duration every time you use it. I'm hoping it'll pay off! The other app I was recommended by a midwife friend is 'Bounty', which gives you offers and tells you when to expect the goodie packs from the hospital etc. You can even link your local hospital if they participate (mine doesn't, typically!)

@toasterstrudle I was expecting a confirmation pregnancy test at my first doctor's appointment too! Do you think anyone has gone along to the first few appointments / scans without taking a test, and just 'believing' they are pregnant?! Seems possible...

petiteange28 · 29/03/2018 09:21

@Angekins I was 35 when I got pregnant with number one and had absolutely no symptoms through the whole pregnancy. No sickness, no cravings...the only thing I had was the need to pee a bit more. Little boy is now 11 months old!

With this one I'm now 37 (and supposedly geriatric when it comes to being pregnant), I'm 7+1 and I have felt a lot more nauseous. The only time I don't feel ill is when I am eating....which is why I am so astounded that I have actually lost weight (I'm the lightest I have been since having no 1). This part is actually freaking me out a little.

BunBunMum · 29/03/2018 09:57

Hi All,
Wondering if I can tentatively join! I think I’m 5+1 to 5+3 today so due right at the end of November. I’m 34 and if all goes well this will be DC#2 (ds is almost 2.5). I had a miscarriage at 8+4 at the end of January so I’m pretty nervous whether this one will stick...I had a small bit of bleeding last Friday and I thought it was game over again but I’m testing strongly positive so hoping this one is stickier than the last x

TinyPaws · 29/03/2018 10:47

Help, the maternity bras I bought only a week ago (having outgrown all my normal bras) are already too small! Confused

Nightmanagerfan · 29/03/2018 11:53

Welcome to all the newbies! Really lovely to see some scan pix. I wonder if we will have any twins in this group? Statistically I think it's one in 80, so there may be.

I'm now 9+2 and my symptoms have definitely subsided - just feeling tired and quite snappy (poor DH) , and going to the loo an inordinate amount, which I think is hormone-related, but the nausea has passed now. I have developed a bit of a funny relationship with food though - I really fancy something, make and eat it and then absolutely can't face the thought of eating that meal ever again! E.g. last night I made salmon pasta and brought some leftovers to work, but I'm going to have to bin it as I just can't face eating it! Has anyone else found the same? I've also got a bit funny about eating food I haven't bought fresh or cooked myself, so even though I'm tired poor DH isn't allowed to cook…

olderthanyouthink · 29/03/2018 11:53

@confuddledconfudle hmm, I guess I could ask my GP, I don't live where my brother and parents were tested now so I'm under a different trust.

@TinyPaws Jesus! Umm... get a bra that's as big as you can comfortably manage and then size up again until the ballooning stops... not great but I don't know what else you can do, are there grow-with-me bras???

I managed to eat some crumpets this morning before the nausea started properly and I feel much better for it.

Has anyone self referred to St Thomas' and how long did it take for you to hear from them?
I emailed mine early on Tuesday 20th and I'm supposed to hear from them by post in 7 -10 working days by post so they've only got a few more days. I really want to get something officially moving because atm it's not feeling very real.

Emelene · 29/03/2018 12:29

@Nightmanagerfan - I'm very similar. 8+5 and occasionally nauseated but the main thing is not fancying much food! Yesterday I forced down some soup for dinner, really struggled with it. Also gone off my favourite mature cheddar!

BadBadBeans · 29/03/2018 12:33

@Picklesandpies The physio was very helpful thank you, and I feel a lot more mobile this morning, although still rather sore. I'm trying to be really strict about not picking up DS, but my god is it difficult.

@petiteange28 Thanks, that's reassuring to hear that you had no symptoms with your first pregnancy. I feel so normal that I keep forgetting that I'm pregnant. The only symptoms I have at 7 weeks are my batshit crazy dreams.

Between my back being bad and DS being somewhat out of sorts (and him missing his ONLY day of nursery yesterday because he threw up JUST as I was going to put him in the car) I am feeling a bit frazzled this week. We've got a load of house renovations about to start and I am worrying a bit that we won't have things finished by November. I don't mind living in a bit of mess, but I think I've mentioned on here before that we share a house with extended family that we are in the process of splitting in two. At the moment we share a kitchen and although we're all coping, I struggle with everyone else having different ideas about hygiene to me, and I feel like I HAVE to have control over a kitchen of my own by the time we have a newborn again. For my own sanity.

Midwife service have contacted me and my booking in is Sat 14th April - I was pretty suprised that it was a weekend appointment. I've also now booked in my Harmony and ultrasound for when I think I'll be about 10+4, which I hope is far enough into week 10 that even if I'm a few days out, I will still be able to have the Harmony.

DH just got home from a half day of work and I thought he was researching something... but I've just started hearing snoring coming from our bedroom! Hmm Both boys asleep - hallelujah, is all I can say!

@Nightmanagerfan I'm semi-convinced I'm going to have twins, this sounds sooo stupid but a friend keeps saying stuff that he has no real idea about and jinxing it... he has no idea I am pg but said I'm going to have two kids by Christmas Confused. I can't afford twins so I hope it's just one of I'm making him pay for one of them.

Nightmanagerfan · 29/03/2018 13:28

Glad it’s not just me re food. I just got a Greggs baguette for lunch which is so unlike me. I’m sure my colleagues will guess soon! I’m eating all kinds of odd things that don’t normally form part of my diet.

@badbadbeans my booking in appointment was on a Saturday too, apparently their busiest day where I am (Kings College, London). It was nice to go for breakfast after rather than heading to the office!

Nightmanagerfan · 29/03/2018 13:29

@olderthanyouthink ha ha you might! There are twins in my family so it has crossed my mind, but I’m actually just hoping for one. Twins are amazing but hard work!

mondray · 29/03/2018 13:35

Hi everyone. I'm hoping I could join here too. Got a bfp a couple of weeks ago and am due 20/11. Just got my booking appointment for the 13/4.

My only worry is that I started a new job less than a month ago, so it will be an interesting conversation to have with my manager when the time comes. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, as I am not sure how they will take it.

Also waiting for morning sickness to start, but not had any inkling of it yet and I am 6+2 today. Fingers crossed that I don't get as last time it was horrible from about this time in the pregnancy.
Any ideas when I can count myself as safe? I heard if you don't get by 8 weeks chances are that you won't get it. What are you experiences?

k3lly80 · 29/03/2018 14:45

Hello everyone!
Congratulations

Anyone getting heart palpitations, I'm sure I had them with my first too!
I'm 7+3

BadBadBeans · 29/03/2018 15:02

@k3lly80 Hello! And yes - weirdly enough, I've just been noticing this afternoon that I'm getting palpitations! (Having pretty much no other symptoms though.) I also had palpitations with my first, but much futher along in the pregnancy (and ended up having an ECG to check everything was OK). I'm 7 weeks today.

@Nightmanagerfan @olderthanyouthink Goodness I hadn't really thought about the possibility of twins... EEK! One more reason to be nervous before the scan!

@mondray Welcome! Not sure about the job, but I'm sure someone else will have some wise words for you :)

Didn't realise booking in could be at the weekend! That's great. Fingers crossed I can get a weekend appointment as I've already had a bit of time off for an early scan (and another on tue, due to bleeding) so would rather keep it in my own time.

Magpie24 · 29/03/2018 15:57

I should add though the bleeding has now been stopped for a while! 🎉🎉🎉

Picklesandpies · 29/03/2018 16:15

@BadBadBeans Glad to hear the physio was helpful - that's good. I had a few twangy pains in my hips for a few days (subsided now) so I was praying it wasn't a warning sign for SPD which is had in my second pregnancy. Hopefully not - surely too early?

Still no nausea at all. Just little pains now and again. Wouldn't know I was pregnant either!

Fidgety31 · 29/03/2018 16:52

I made my booking appt today for 17th April - I will be ten and Half weeks !

Picklesandpies · 29/03/2018 17:31

I haven't heard from the midwife re booking in yet. I self referred about a week ago. Is that normal?

MeredithShepherd · 29/03/2018 18:03

My booking in appt is on Tuesday morning when I will be 9+1 according to my dates. 3 days behind according to scan but still going by my dates until 12 week scan as I’ve read the size can vary hugely when the babies are so tiny.
DP and I have been discussing names this week. It’s a struggle! He’s quite traditional and likes names like Jack and Beatrice and I like Luca and Thea! DS is Leo so I’d prefer it to at least go with that!

moomoo85 · 29/03/2018 19:00

I have had a productive few days of organising thing (which is impressive given how rubbish I feel).

I have a first midwife appt on the 10th when I will be 9+1 and my first scan at 12+2 (which is great as last time my first scan was at 13+4 which felt like an eternity). I also spoke to a lovely GP today who has given me some cyclizine which I needed last time. It makes me really tired but it helped me with my sickness. She also recommended this website which looks quite good. www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/

BadBadBeans · 29/03/2018 20:26

@Picklesandpies ooooh I don't know - I don't think I know anyone who has had SPD. Might have just been things stretching out a bit, maybe? Don't know about booking in either but if you haven't heard by next Weds, I think I would chase. My booking in is for when I'm about 9+2.

@MeredithShepherd I like both sets of names! Leo is lovely too - one of our shortlist for DS actually!

@moomoo85 Goodness, well done! I've been so unproductive the last week. I almost had a bit of a cry about it this morning because I opened a to-do list I made eight days ago and I'd done ONE THING from it!

Well, we've had a bit of a yucky day here. DS had a massive nap, and woke up looking listless and floppy and really unwell. I must admit I was freaking out - he was scarily quiet on my lap. Then he did the world's largest vomit (over me too - lovely), and twenty minutes later was bouncing around eating crumpet and honey and playing 'choo choo' with his Brio trains. I was so relieved and grateful that it didn't seem to be anything more serious. But I am a bit worried that I will catch whatever it was! Eep!

@toasterstrudel are you me? I also have my scan on 20th and start a new job on 16th! Wierd.

TheImprobableGirl · 29/03/2018 21:40

Anybody else a bit achy-pains down in the pelvis? I just have a huge feeling this ones not going to stick

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 29/03/2018 21:48

@TheImprobableGirl I have numerous achey pains. They come and go. But it's likely just things stretching out etc. My early scan yesterday was all fine so I really don't think it's anything to worry about unless pain is bad and constant. I'm 8+4 approx.
