omg Grin baby typing

olderthanyouthink · 28/03/2018 13:43

Been trying to keep up but haven't had time to post

@BadBadBeans @NoCatsHere @DrWhy I don't think I'll have any private tests, I don't think they would show wants wrong with my brothers DNA anyway and they cost loads. I suppose I'll have to NHS one if someone pins me down to get a needle in. It's something I've thought about for as long as I remember and I still don't know what I'd do.

@confuddledconfudle I was wondering why the MC calculator does that too. Maybe because most women experience at least one in their life???

@Aussi @confuddledconfudle @toasterstrudle I'm waiting to 12 weeks I think for a scan too. Am very jealous of all the scans on here so far.

@TinyPawz you're dates are probably just a bit out, I hope in two weeks you'll get to see your little gummy bear (that's what one of the scans on here looks like to me Grin). For now we have the same EDD

Yesterday I went to John Lewis and got myself a padded Calvin Klein bralette, it's so comfy and my boobs have some more support and growing room now. While I was there I dragged my BF up to the baby stuff and he was 😧 at home much the prams can cost and wasn't impressed by them 😂. Neither of us were impressed by the looks we got from the smug mums and some of the staff, I'm betting it's because I can get away with saying I'm about 17 and he looks young too.

I'm a ticked off atm I told my BF and one friend because I needed to talk to someone who wasn't so involved and she just went and told a mutual but not that close friend, who just texted me about it.😠 now I'm wondering who else she's going to tell.

sarahhh1984 · 28/03/2018 13:50

@TinyPawz Fingers crossed you'll go back in two weeks and see your little bean. You're probably just a little earlier than you thought and it's quite common for them not to see anything before six weeks in that case.

I'm about to make another potato waffle sandwich with added salt and ketchup and I don't even feel bad about it. Nausea isn't awful today but it's constant and I want it gone! I'm going to be the size of a house by the time I get to the end of the first trimester.

Magpie24 · 28/03/2018 13:53

8 weeks today! Early scan on Tuesday due to the spotting I had earlier in the pregnant although that's all but stopped now which is great. Has anyone started putting on weight? I'm about 3lbs up and no longer fitting into my work trousers!

confuddledconfudle · 28/03/2018 14:10

@olderthanyouthink have you enquiried if they can do the test through a saliva sample. Most times that is possible if you explain your fear. However you would need to get in touch ASAP for testing to be completed for you to also have testing in pregnancy

HeresMeh · 28/03/2018 14:44

Don't know if this is of any use but I find chocolate covered rice cakes are just true ticket for combatting the nausea!

Bit of sweet and savoury has worked a treat for me and they're only 80p for two from M&S ❤️

marchblossom · 28/03/2018 16:44

Ok guys, nausea is really full on now (7 wks ish) even potato waffles aren't appealing anymore! I didn't have this so bad with my last pregnancies so slightly anxious about it, but mum says supposed to be a good sign?! I'm never actually sick just super super nauseous - almost wish I could just throw up and get some sort of relief!! Anyway found that jam on tiger bread went down ok and I'm still loving citrus fruits. Any other suggestions (vegan)?! Hardly a thriving diet so far Grin

NoCatsHere · 28/03/2018 18:26

march I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad, I wouldn’t worry too much about what you’re eating health wise at the minute, just do what you can to feel better. I only wanted savoury for my nausea, like salt and vinegar everything!

Does anyone have any good pregnancy apps? I’m going to tempt fate and download one...

TinyPaws · 28/03/2018 18:31

@NoCatsHere I've tried a few pregnancy apps, so far my favourites are Ovia and Pregnancy+

toasterstrudle · 28/03/2018 18:32

Seconding pregnancy+ app!

Magpie24 · 28/03/2018 18:34

@marchblossom I've found frozen fruit to help, think frozen mango and pineapple

MeredithShepherd · 28/03/2018 18:39

Also agreeing with Ovia and Pregnancy+ apps! I’ve walked 17 miles today round lake Windermere. I’m dying. I should feel ashamed that 4 year old DS scootered the whole way without complaining and he is currently full of energy and bouncing on the bed HmmConfusedBlush

olderthanyouthink · 28/03/2018 18:55

@Magpie24 can't find my scales since moving but one of my pairs of jeans was painfully tight yesterday Sad I sat at my desk with the button undone.

@confuddledconfudle do you mean doing the normal NHS downs screening via saliva?

@NoCatsHere I've got Ovia which I like. Love freaking out my BF in the morning with the daily updates Smile

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 28/03/2018 21:14

Proud mother of a blob Smile

Saw heartbeat and she measured 8 weeks. My calculations were 8+3 and I suppose there's a good chance we could gain those days back at official scan.

Feel a bit more at ease now but obviously we aren't home free yet. Fingers crossed all continues well.

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer lovely news 😊😊

toasterstrudle · 28/03/2018 21:39

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer ahh lovely scan!! I'm counting down the day to April 20th now (my 12 week scan!). Start a new job on April 16th though, that should be fun (whoops Blush)

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 28/03/2018 21:43

Thanks. Smile

Got booking in appt next Thursday 5th and then official scan on 24th April.

It's just nice to know there's something in there! Grin

toasterstrudle · 28/03/2018 22:16

Yeah definitely @GiveMummyTheWhizzer, I always find it a bit surreal as up here no one does any preg testing or anything, they just take your word for it. At my booking app they did my carbon monoxide reading and blood tests for sickle cell etc, took all my details (well, checked the ones they had from last year were still up to date 😆) gave me my maternity notes and fancy booklets and bounty pack and I was thinking "Hang on, doesn't someone want to check I'm actually pregnant?!" Apparently not!

confuddledconfudle · 28/03/2018 22:32

@olderthanyouthink no not the 12 screening - specifically for genetic testing of posters brothers chromosome arrangement.

hellotoyellow · 28/03/2018 22:58

@TinyPawz I had exactly the same at 5+6. Now waiting for my scan next Tuesday to see what it shows - fingers crossed!

Sorry some of you are feeling so sick. @toasterstrudel I am also Scottish and had a real craving for diet irn bru (always my preferred poison) yesterday! Glad it's helping :)

DrWhy · 28/03/2018 23:16

I had pregnancy plus app in my last pregnancy and it was great but I can’t seem to get it to allow me to add details of a new pregnancy to track, it just keeps saying congratulations on the birth of my baby! Any ideas?

TinyPawz · 29/03/2018 02:40

@DrWhy maybe delete the last pregnancy from your account. When I downloaded an old app I had to delete the mc pregnancy before it would let me add this one. Although now I have hidden all the apps until I know more after next scan on 10th.

Angekins · 29/03/2018 07:57

Hi! Newbie here. I'm 34 and this is my first pregnancy. EDD 18 Nov. Feeling very anxious and that it doesn't feel real. I've got an early scan next week. reading all of your experiences is so helpful right now. I'm just desperate for a symptom! I can't believe I actually want to feel nauseous. Main thing I'm struggling with is getting out of social situations that involve alcohol. Especially this weekend!

Picklesandpies · 29/03/2018 08:20

Hi @Angekins - welcome

Going by my LMP I'm also due on 18th Nov and have scan booked for Wednesday. I'm 33, will be 34 when this one is born. This is my 3rd but it has been a long time so everything feels new (dd1 is 10 and dd2 is 7). No symptoms either other than slightly bigger boobs and tiredness which comes and goes (but I think that is normal with two children!)

When is your scan booked for? I have tried to leave it as late as possible before going away for a week next Friday in case my dates are out and I'm not as far along as I think I am. Had a bit of a panic with the clear blue digital tests being behind when I think they should be (got to 2-3 but haven't dared take any more!)

@MeredithShepherd lovely scan picture Smile

toasterstrudle · 29/03/2018 08:56

Welcome @Angekins! I didn't have symptoms til week 8 with my first pregnancy, a friend of mine didn't have any in first trimester! I'm sure it's all absolutely fine.

Spending my morning bawling my eyes out in front of DIY SOS - oh, hormones Grin I remember going to see Beauty and the Beast last year and sobbing away throughout the entire film, much to the mortification or my friends!
