Got scan tonight. Am very worried about it Sad

TheUbercornMum · 28/03/2018 08:55

@confuddled sorry you're ill.

Bleugh another bad day here. Hate being so sickly.

Thanks for the asos link and 20% to off, will have a look!

Saraswati · 28/03/2018 09:24

Thanks for the 20% off heads up I love asos. Do I dare tempt fate and buy some mat wear yet?!

Last few days I've been sick once or twice everyday but it's nowhere near as bad as with dd. I've resorted to eating lots of little meals, mostly carb heavy and stopped having porridge for breakfast as that was just coming back everytime. Now I make a smoothie with oats, almond milk, banana, cacao powder and peanut butter, it tastes like chocolate Grin seems to work better than a big breakfast.

Despite the sickness I'm still feeling quite un-pregnant, the bloating has subsided so I just look normal again and I'm wondering what's going on in there?! I think I'm about 7+3 so will wait and see. I've got my booking in on Wednesday next week so hopefully I'll get a scan date after that. DP still not keen on homebirth idea but I'm going to ask for more info from mw.

toasterstrudle · 28/03/2018 09:40

@sarahhh1984 brilliant spot - thank you!! I'm going to tempt fate and buy a couple of things I think.

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer it's so natural to be worried, I'll be in bits before my 12 week scan I think. I'm sure it'll all be just fine, the stats are in your favour remember! Thinking of you, hoping for great news and perhaps a wee pic later on x

toasterstrudle · 28/03/2018 09:41

Also girls I have found a great way to stave off ms for a bit - like a true Scottish lass I am having a glass of full fat irn bru every morning 🤣 Water just comes straight back up and I think my ms is low blood sugar related. Feel like I'm back in my hangover university days!

toasterstrudle · 28/03/2018 09:43

(Just adding a disclaimer that I am normally actually a pretty healthy eater! Hoping the prenatal vitamins will cancel out the badness I'm funnelling to the baby!)

confuddledconfudle · 28/03/2018 09:44

Sorry so many of you are being ill - I have great respect. I got of so lightly in first pregnancy

Hope everyone feels better soon and the scans and the upcoming scans and appointments go well - lovely seeing the scans! Smile

In other news you are terrible people and some potato waffles fell into my online shopping basket... determined to avoid gaining as much weight as my last pregnancy but how good are they with ALL THE KETCHUP!?

Thanks for the ASOS code. Topshop have a fair few maternity items in their sale - I got some jeans which I have already shamefully started wearing at 7+2. Really felt like I lost my 'style' in the last pregnancy and bf days so want to try and maintain some of 'me' this time. Primark cheap stretchy tops were great for basic/casual wear.... they are very stretchy!

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 28/03/2018 10:45

Thanks @toasterstrudle I think I'm just worried that there won't be a heartbeat or something else will be wrong and that I will disappoint DH who is already having such a tough time with the passing of his DF.

pipsqueak126 · 28/03/2018 11:17

I'm another with the carb cravings - I usually follow a low carb high fat diet so this is very weird for me! However, due to lack of appetite the last couple of weeks, I'm loosing weight, which I'm hoping is a temporary thing! Potato waffles for tea tonight.

So far I've only been sick on one day, and this past weekend the nausea did subside (maybe something to do with being out and about in the fresh air?) but it's back with a vengeance this week, joy! Also, fatigue has set in. Don't know how i managed to drive home last night, I was tempted to ask to leave work early as I was physically unable to do anything for the last hour. It was almost like a migraine - which I'm dreading getting whilst pregnant! Does anyone have any tips for dealing with work during pregnancy? My boss knows, but I don't know if I can get away with 'sick days' when it's just tiredness? At least the Easter weekend will give me a chance to catch up, I marvel at you ladies battling through this with kids to look after too!!!!

moomoo85 · 28/03/2018 11:21

My sickness is driving me mad. It has got to the point that even when I eat regularly I am still feeling sick and has now progressed to regular vomiting. Really feeling sorry for myself now.

pipsqueak126 · 28/03/2018 11:24

@moomoo85 sorry to hear that, hopefully it will pass soon and you'll start to feel normal again. Everyone always tells me that sickness is a sign the baby is thriving, but it's a very thin silver lining when you're feeling like death!

TheUbercornMum · 28/03/2018 11:27

Pipsqueak during my first pregnancy my boss and I agreed one working home day a week and that really helped. I was signed off for the first 3 months with HG / or was doing bits from home but the working at home was helpful in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. If that's possible it really helped me as I could have a day where I didn't have to get dressed up, could do the odd jobs like sticking a wash on etc during lunch and took the pressure off on the other days. Alternatively staggered hours so getting in earlier or later was helpful to some colleagues if sickness and tiredness kicked in during a certain point. I went on maternity leave two months early too as I was just exhausted by using my accrued holiday for the year I was off on maternity leave which helped in the later stages.

TheUbercornMum · 28/03/2018 11:31

@moomoo85 do you have medication? I forget...? Mine is similar but the medication helps me to keep on a certain level without getting to the point where I can't keep anything in. I take it when I need it as thankfully it hasn't progressed to the real low of constant sickness and being unable to eat or drink anything like last time yet. I'm hopeful the meds have helped me claw myself back to being able to eat and drink something when I start going down that route.

DrWhy · 28/03/2018 12:00

So sorry to all of you who are ill. I was lucky that I was fine throughout my first pregnancy. This time I’ve had very low level nausea at times but nothing worse yet. I’m only 5 weeks though so I guess it may get worse.

NoCatsHere · 28/03/2018 12:06

Sorry to all of you with sickness and feeling shattered. I feel pretty lucky not to have suffered much in my first two pregnancies or this one so far. The days are crawling by I'm only 5+2 and seeing the doctor in a week. Hoping the easter weekend helps it all go a bit quicker!

TinyPawz · 28/03/2018 12:16

So had the scan today at EPU. Could see a sac but nothing else. Midwife thought my dates were wrong have to go back in 2 weeks. Trying to to panic too much and stay positive. I'm certain of my lmp but the cycle itself is bonkers

LastNightsMakeUp · 28/03/2018 12:34

@TinyPawz how far along are you based on your LMP? I have heard that before 6 weeks it's quite common to only see a yolk sac on ultrasound. Also it would depend on date of ovulation if you know that? I know I ovulated about 5 days later than the Moran '14' days. Hope that gives you a bit of reassurance xx

LastNightsMakeUp · 28/03/2018 12:36

*normal not moron ☹️

TinyPawz · 28/03/2018 12:53

According to lmp I should be 6wk2d. Going to be a long 2 weeks.

LastNightsMakeUp · 28/03/2018 12:59

@TinyPawz yes can't imagine the wait. I think it's very likely you could be

toasterstrudle · 28/03/2018 13:05

@TinyPawz if you're only 6w2 by lmp then it's highly likely you're a couple of days out and they just couldn't see anything beyond the sac at this point. You're definitely right to stay positive, anything can happen in all pregnancies but remember the stats are in your favour and I'm sure in two weeks time you'll see a healthy bean. I know it's natural to worry but honestly it's so so early and just being out by a day or two will have a huge impact on what they can see x

TheImprobableGirl · 28/03/2018 13:38

phew! I'm back [grin[
Had what should have been an early scan yesterday, but it was done at the antenatal clinic so don't know if they managed to get the info as it was still tiny! I thought it should have been done in early pregnancy?!

Anyhow, there was a little flickering heartbeat, and the baby was measuring 8w2, which I think is a little early and i'm expecting it to change. Odd to think of it as a little raspberry though!

Have told people now i've seen a heartbeat so hopefully it'll stick. 12 week scan is booked for April 25th, but still not had Booking Appt - due on 10th April so not long now!

Downloaded a couple of books on kindle to read. I really enjoyed Joules Oliver minus nine to one last time, but found it in a charity shop and i'm loathe to pay 8quid for the kindle version!

tummy is popping out and I can already feel popping/butterfly movements, hence why I thought I was further along!
