Scan all good! Measuring ahead so actually 9 weeks exactly today which makes my EDD 29th October so definitely an October Mummy now, but will stay here Smile

LastNightsMakeUp · 26/03/2018 18:30

@TheUbercornMum Wow that's really shocking. And the MW recommending a home birth or mw led unit is mind blowing, it's actually against all guidance - totally see why you'd be upset about it. Will keep everything crossed for you that the change is quick and easy.

This might be an interesting resource for you:

toasterstrudle · 26/03/2018 18:37

@TheUbercornMum that's crazy! I had my booking today and got asked why I had emcs (foetal distress). Then she just replied "oh good so no reason to avoid vaginal birth this time" and moved on to next question! I said I hadn't decided yet and was leaning towards elcs and she was not keen on that. I've requested consultant meeting (required for elcs) so should get that around 20ish weeks. She def didn't mention a home birth though!! Shock

LastNightsMakeUp · 26/03/2018 18:45

@toasterstrudle thanks for sharing your experience too. Have my booking in next week so can go in feeling a bit more prepared for what they might say/ask.

Emelene · 26/03/2018 18:52

Congratulations @GreenMeerkat! Lovely scan x

MeredithShepherd · 26/03/2018 18:57

Wow that’s fab @GreenMeercat so clear!!

toasterstrudle · 26/03/2018 18:57

Yes @LastNightsMakeUp - I haven't even made my mind up yet but didn't expect not to even be asked and it just be assumed I'd go for vaginal! I had to interrupt and ask to go back to discuss properly as I wanted it in writing that I haven't decided yet and want info on VBAC before deciding.

keepinghopeful · 26/03/2018 18:57

Fab @GreenMeerkat ... lovely pic 😊

toasterstrudle · 26/03/2018 18:58

Eeek @GreenMeerkat this is all feeling very real now! How exciting!

TheUbercornMum · 26/03/2018 19:23

Yeah it was a ridiculous conversation as she just wasn't prepared to engage in a conversation about it. I've thought long and hard about it and wouldn't opt for major surgery unless I genuinely felt it was the right option for me. I feel my reasoning is very sound but she didn't want to listen. I'd have loved the birth centre and a water birth last time but alas, it's not right this time.

Tbh the midwife was quite rude anyway. She asked me whether I self diagnosed my HG last time Hmm (the fact I was signed off work and didn't go in for 3 months and I was prescribed meds would suggest no....a qualified "real" GP diagnosed me) and looked Hmm when I explained I thought I was developing it again (and again another qualified GP agreed with me a week later and put me on meds quick sharp!).

confuddledconfudle · 26/03/2018 19:25

Does anyone know why in that miscarriage calculator when I say 0 previous miscarriages it increases my risk of a miscarriage?

I haven't caught up with thread yet, I will go back and read when lg is in bed

TheUbercornMum · 26/03/2018 19:27

@LastNightsMakeup thanks I'll have a read!!

@Toasterstrudle ugh I'd have been annoyed with that too. Your body, your choice and if you have reasons for wanting an ELCS then they should be listened to and taken into consideration not assumptions made.

Anyway rant over hahaha!!!!

moomoo85 · 26/03/2018 19:59

I can't decide if i would go for a vbac or not. I know I have loads of time to decide but the whole thing is a bit stressful!

Aussi · 26/03/2018 20:29

Seeing all these early scan pics is making me wonder if I can wait until May! Hadn’t even thought about it as an option before. Anyone else hanging on until 12 weeks?

confuddledconfudle · 26/03/2018 20:30

@ALRM so sorry to hear what you are going through - thinking of you.

I can't believe that you are all having such a struggle with elcs. My sil seemed to have got hers no issue after her first emergency one. I would ask them for their reasons and data to support it. C section is much more expensive than vaginal birth and I wonder is that why they are pushing it. They should also be taking into account maternal mental health.

I think I get evening sickness instead of morning sickness Hmm I seem to remember this last time as well.

I'm not into maternity clothes just yet, I just feel like period bloated.

I had really bad migraines last pregnancy until 17 weeks, I have been getting mildish headaches this past few days, I really hope I am not going to be tortured with migraines again for 17 weeks. However I'll happily put up with it if it means happy healthy baby.

I had bleeding in my last pregnancy at 6 weeks so had an early scan at 7 weeks. Thankfully I have not had any bleeding this time (yet) 5 weeks tomorrow. However 12 weeks to have a scan seems sooo far away Sad

confuddledconfudle · 26/03/2018 20:31

@Aussi me I'm hanging on. I wouldn't change anything in my pregnancy even if something was picked up so there is no point in me having anything earlier. I am missing just seeing it to check they are sticking in there and hanging on though.

toasterstrudle · 26/03/2018 20:33

@Aussi and @confuddledconfudle I'm hanging on to 12 week scan! Mainly because logistics of getting to a scan (nearest one 45 mins away in traffic) with DS and also because they're all around £80 - I'm still on maternity leave, we just had to get a new boiler in 💸😫 and I'll only qualify for maternity allowance this time so saving every penny we get at the moment!

toasterstrudle · 26/03/2018 20:35

@confuddledconfudle poor you with headaches!! I had awful ones last time but (touch wood) none this time. I hope they settle soon for you, that was awful. I'd forgotten about them :(

sarahhh1984 · 26/03/2018 21:14

Think I'm going to have to dig out my pregnancy pillow sooner rather than later. Hips are starting really hurt when I'm lying on my side in bed. I know I kept it after last time but God knows where I've put it!

Have made an appointment at Bravissimo for a week Saturday to get fitted for some non-wired bras. I have no idea what size I am. Boobs never shrunk back after I finished bfing DD and now they're busting out of my bras again. My bump's definitely showing earlier this time, but think people will be able to tell just from my boobs! 😂

GreenMeerkat · 26/03/2018 21:54

My MW talked me out of an ELCS after my first EMCS which was pretty traumatic. Ended up with another EMCS (for a totally different reason) anyway so wish I'd stuck to my guns with the ELCS. You can ask for another midwife, I did during my second pregnancy cause mine was a total cow! My first appointment I went in with my 9 month old and she said 'well, you were daft weren't you? Going to have your hands full' which was completely inappropriate and rude for a MW to say!

confuddledconfudle · 26/03/2018 22:00

@GreenMeerkat holy cow - do some people have no filter! So much for professionalism, I think I would have made a complaint.

toasterstrudle · 26/03/2018 22:10

@GreenMeerkat - my DS is 8 months old, I got asked if this pregnancy was an accident by two different people today Grin

toasterstrudle · 26/03/2018 22:13

Oh - @sarahhh1984 my midwife gave me brilliant advice for sore hips in bed last time!! Sleep ON a duvet. So I had a duvet as a sheet (a low tog one though so I didn't overheat!) and then normal duvet on top. Game changer! I imagine a luxurious mattress topper would do the same thing. As soon as there's any hint of hip pain for me I'll be doing it again. I've already got the maternity pillow out for between my knees!

sarahhh1984 · 26/03/2018 22:46

Ooh, thanks for that, @toasterstrudle! Will get my spare duvet out and try it! Between that and the pillow I'll be nice and toasty (or way too hot) as this pregnancy goes on! I'm a tummy sleeper normally so I hate lying on my side. But since this is the last baby I plan on having, once s/he's born and my body is back to normal I can sleep on my front for the rest of my life! 😂

TinyPawz · 27/03/2018 02:18

@petiteange28 my dd is 11yo! I will have a 12 year gap. Like starting all over again
