@AJ89 yes!! I wonder if we need more water?

Liz3891 · 23/03/2018 18:38

Hello, I'd like to join. This is my first pregnancy at age 34. I'm 6+3 and feeling very few symptoms other than a lot of tiredness and some sore boobs. No nausea yet - keep dreading and expecting it any day now!

marchblossom · 23/03/2018 18:47

@AJ89 I'm sooo thirsty too!!

Plus, can't remember who mentioned but I've also been loving potato waffles ! How funny! Tonight we had chip butties for dinner much to the delight of my children Grin but tbf it is Friday and I did make a huge salad to have with it!! Carbs really really help my nausea but I need to be a bit careful as I'm never actually sick Confused

AJ89 · 23/03/2018 18:50

Oo I haven’t had a potato waffle for years but really want one now!

marchblossom · 23/03/2018 18:53

@AJ89 i know I hadn't either! We literally never buy stuff like that - if my kids were older/more savvy I think they'd have guessed by now Grin we had quesadillas for breakfast today!!!ShockBlush

toasterstrudle · 23/03/2018 19:33

@Emelene - what a shame, hope you feel better soon!

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer Fingers crossed for a good night for you. Last pregnancy I had quite a few pains on and off, including one random bout of extremely sore sciatica at 9 weeks. GP said it was to do with the relaxin hormone making everything less like stable, like @sarahhh1984 said. Early scan will be nice reassurance too.

@BadBadBeans that's madness about the different experiences with receptionists! I hate inconsistencies like that - make sure you say to your GP so maybe they can set a policy, at least it's not your first rodeo so you were able to stay calm about it but otherwise I can imagine it would be quite off-putting for first pregnancies!

@marchblossom @Magpie24 @AJ89 Snap! I'm so thirsty all the time! Having to mainline squash as plain water makes me feel sick. Good how our bodies reject all things good for us, I'm currently living on beige food and hoping my vitamin will make up for it! Normally eat quite healthy! I'm also blatantly going to put on about 2 stone again as I'm also eating carbs non stop to combat the nausea and not actually being sick all that much. Im just holding on to the fact that I managed to shift it quickly last time with breastfeeding and very little effort so hoping the same this time!

toasterstrudle · 23/03/2018 19:33

And congratulations to all the new girls in the November club!

Picklesandpies · 23/03/2018 20:30

@marchblossom I am your fellow potato waffle lover. I had another PWS (potato waffle sandwich) this lunch time. It was heaven. I'm not even nauseous Blush

Clarigirl87 · 23/03/2018 20:34

Beige food all the way! Today I’ve mainly eaten white bread and marg 🤭

moomoo85 · 23/03/2018 20:41

It is all about the pasta and toast at the moment. Feeling so sick and fed up.

6+4

MiniMinions · 23/03/2018 20:44

Re the OBEM watching I haven't started watching it again yet but will do. Am glad I did last time as didn't know they were purple when they come out otherwise haha

Am desperate to know when my scan will be, have got first midwife appt in 1.5weeks so hoping they will give me it there and then.

Am worrying about work already as they are starting to sort out timetabling and staffing for next academic year so think might have to say before I have scan unfortunately (probably to have to get date off work partially anyway!!)

I've got a hankering for potato waffles now!!!

@sarahhh1984 garlic bread sounds good! Hope child hasn't vommed anymore!

@BadBadBeans glad you've got an appointment now 😊

TheUbercornMum · 23/03/2018 21:06

@moomoo85 you aren't alone. Sick and nauseous too over here. Really struggling to drink. Everything makes me gag and tastes disgusting. Sad

BadBadBeans · 23/03/2018 21:09

@sarahhh1984 @toasterstrudle yes I will definitely mention the confusion with the receptionist to GP. As you say, toaster, I'm all right because I've done it all once before, but if this were my first time round I could have ended up potentially waiting till 12 weeks before I rang the GP again! Carnage! @Jt1991 everywhere seems to have different rules for first appointments in pregnancy - very confusing!

Welcome @Liz3891 - I'm 6+1 and not nauseous either! Let's just count our lucky stars, eh?!

@MiniMinions oooh your booking in is so close now! Ha re: babies being purple when born - despite having watched OBEM I didn't quite realise HOW purple DS would be and was genuinely a little shocked. He rapidly got cuter, fortunately Wink

I'm noticeably weeing more today. Could be because I've tried to be good and drink more frequently, mind you! I'll be booking my private scan and Harmony package tomorrow. I feel quite laid back at the moment but I think that's because half of me still doesn't really believe that I'm pregnant!

It's interesting to see a few of you looking at antenatal genetic testing, my brother has autism and profound learning disabilities which a couple years ago we found out that he has a slightly messed up chromosome (technical term that) which may have contributed to his issues to an unknown degree. My parents had their DNA checked and were normal and there was talk of me being tested too but I don't do needles

FYI being the sibling to a child with special needs... it's like nothing else. I've seen a few MNers who really try to give there NT DC as normal a life as possible but it's really bloody hard to do.

I'd really struggle to know what to do if I know before birth that I was having a SN baby.

Sorry for the not-so-cheerfulness

@OuiChef we have the same due date! (There's a couple others too, it's on the spreadsheet in the OP)

@hellotoyellow my boobs ache too, I dug out a sports bra for ballet because I couldn't face to jumping without it and the bra was so damn tight it was just uncomfortable the whole time BUT I also don't want to buy anything until I know everything is going to be ok.

@BadBadBeans I keep a bottle of water on my desk all the time so I end up boredom drinking all day

bangwhistle · 23/03/2018 21:24

@MiniMinions @BadBadBeans of how their bit would be crazy swollen. I clearly remember being genuinely terrified by my sons giant newborn penis. I've never been great with penis's 🤦‍♀️😳😂

DrWhy · 23/03/2018 21:25

@BadBeans @Olderthanyouthink I’m planning on having the harmony test as early as I can, I think it’s around 12 weeks? I need to check. I really think I would find it very hard to make a decision if this baby had a condition that would have a major impact on the life of my DS.
@jk1991 the system where I am is the same as yours. Drs reception books you in directly for the appointment with the midwife at 8 weeks, nothing before. I can kind of see why they do it but it does mean you are given no info about the do’s and don’ts in pregnancy until then.
Last time I had an early scan at nearly 8 weeks as we knew my dad was very unwell and wanted to be sure everything was OK with the pregnancy because it was the positive thing the whole family were hanging on to - it felt real for the first time and I am tempted to do the same again although I know my husband will question why I want to bother.

MiniMinions · 23/03/2018 21:36

@BadBadBeans oh yeah totally little ribena berry haha

@bangwhistle oh my goodness yes I forgot that too

I've just discovered the bookmark feature on the app woohoo I no longer have to scroll through trying to remember what the last post I was reading was haha

BadBadBeans · 23/03/2018 21:45

@olderthanyouthink thank you for sharing your experience of being a sibling of someone with SN. Your feelings on the subject must be very complex. Are you going to have any extra tests done do you think, or will you stick to the NHS screening? Or no screening at all?

@bangwhistle HA! I don't actually remember the swollen genitalia bit. I think I was pretty out of it to be fair - DH spent most of the first day holding him rather than me!

@DrWhy you can have the Harmony from 10 weeks. I'm in the same boat - I would find making any decision incredibly difficult, and whatever I decided I would probably question it for the rest of my life. I'm just hoping I won't be put in the position where I have to.

A friend of mine has just offered to give me all her maternity clothes, as she's done with them. So helpful! Last time I borrowed a lot of my sister-in-law's maternity gear (she was 7 months ahead of me with her DS)... But this time she's only 8 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy! If all goes well then it will be a bit of a hectic Christmas for our family...!

Good morning everyone! I'm thinking a takeaway treat may be in order tonight as all I am craving is carbs! Chip shop tea maybe? Anyone else thinking of indulging?

And to all of those suffering with sickness I braved a walk back from a station further away from my house (40 mins) last night and it really did help. So would recommend a bit of fresh air to anyone struggling, even if it feels like the last thing you want to do.

Pumpkin2018 · 24/03/2018 08:53

Sorry I've been busy the last week and haven't had much chance to get on here. I hope everybody is keeping well and welcome to all the new ladies.
Had my booking in appointment this week, it's all starting to feel real now.

moomoo85 · 24/03/2018 08:58

@Magpie24 I had a similar thought about a fresh air so have decided to drag DH and DS to a local national trust property to use up the last week of our membership before we cancel it (as we don't use it enough).

howthelightgetsin · 24/03/2018 09:51

Hello. I’m 5+5. No symptoms. I’d forgotten how much I hate this stage of not knowing.

I’m planning on also getting antenatal testing. Any thoughts on harmony vs panorama vs SAFE? (I hadn’t heard of SAFE last time).

BadBadBeans · 24/03/2018 10:36

Well done @Magpie24! I've had my first hint of a tint of queasiness this morning. But it was only very slight. I probably wouldn't have noticed it had I not know I'm pregnant. And I sat on it quite quickly by eating two cold potato wedges and a load of crackers and cheese.

He @howthelightgets in! I don't know much about SAFE but I did see a table somewhere online last week comparing with with Harmony and Panorama. I've just been trying to find it again but can't!

NoCatsHere · 24/03/2018 11:51

Morning all! I’m only 4+5 today with zero symptoms. I didn’t get nausea in my last 2 successful pregnancies so hoping I’m lucky again. I really wouldn’t know I was pregnant except for my GUT! Oh my god it’s sticking out so far. I’m totally flat chested too so there’s no hiding it, how when it’s only the size of a poppyseed can it already be popping out?!! Maybe because it’s my third and my stomach muscles are shit to pieces?!

older nice to hear your thoughts about having a sibling with SN. Despite being almost 40 I don’t think I’m going to get anything done more than the nhs testing. Me and the OH need to have a talk about it all really, but I hope of course we don’t have to make any big decisions on that matter. It’s certianly a tricky choice.

ALRM · 24/03/2018 11:51

So I am in A&E, bleeding and probably miscarrying. In A&E because of previous ectopic. Proper sucks
