Happy Saturday everyone!!

Filbrit, I live about 10 miles or so from Bicester Village... I'm trying to think of good bargain shops for baby stuff. There's Monsoon, that's good, there's also a lovely french baby clothes shop, can't remember the name. Clarks is fantastic there, def worth a visit, right next to a huge play area. Good luck, hope you get some bargains. Yes, booked holiday yesterday yippee, thanks for asking. Had a preggo dream this morning that we had to pack and get out of the house within a couple of hours...... horrible horrible!! I need to buy maternity holiday wear now!! I mustn't subject innocent holiday makers to the sight of my wobbly bits! Urgh!

Nicki10- glad your scan went well. I think I might be going to the baby show today too! My DH doesn't want to come, he has to go to a lot of these shows for work, mainly the IT field, but he loathes them!! I'm going to take my 10 year old son. Shall we wear a rose so we can spot each other??

Penny, I hope you're ok, and they get your rhesus stuff sorted, it is a worry isn't it. I'm neg aswell. We're special!!!!!!!!

Penny, I find the whole thing completely baffling I have to say.

When I was PG with DS, I was found to be A -. Then I got to my 28 week appointment and asked about my anti d - I'd apparently been missed off the list and now wouldn't be able to have it until 34 weeks. So I had that dose.

After DS was born he was found to be A+, so I had another shot of anti d. When I looked up my blood results after I returned to work from mat leave, I found that there were antibodies in my blood. I spoke to Mears on here who said it was most likely to be due to the injection I'd had at 34 weeks (DS was born at 37+6), but to wait until I became pg again to see if still present - and they aren't.

To my mind the way the anti d works is like a big spnge, mopping up the antibodies in your blood (and yet somehow causing them to be there in the first place?? Confused - perhaps slightly different antibodies!). IIRC you ought to have the anti d within 72 hrs of the bleed. IMO you should ring the midwife and see what needs to happen next.

Sorry I don't feel like I have been any help at all. The lines of communication between your drs and the hospital sound shite tbh.

PurpleLostPrincess · 12/05/2007 13:05

I'm rhesus negative too but I haven't got my dates through for my anti-d injections yet (I'm 21 weeks now). I'm going to ask my mw on Thursday if I should be arranging them or if I'm to expect something in the post soon. I've already had my card that I'm meant to carry around with me but I've lost it!! Perhaps I should dig it out

It's all so confusing - hope you manage to get your head around it all ((hugs))

Have a great weekend everybody and congrats on the scans!! xxx

FlossALump · 12/05/2007 19:56

If you are seeing your m/w this week then she will be able to arrange it for you for when you are 28 weeks.

PurpleLostPrincess · 12/05/2007 22:00

Lovely, thanks floss!!

emalushka · 12/05/2007 23:18

Hello to all and many congratulations to all who have had scans and found out the gender.

Very upset for Poppy - It must be a horrendous time for her. Much love.

I had my scan last week and everything was fine. Didn't want to know the gender but it is healthy and everything fine. I'm very out of touch with what is going on/has happened in the thread so I apologise. I don't know how people have the time to keep up to to it.

As for names, I never realised how hard it would be. I absolutely love poppy, Freya, Isobel, lily, Jacob, etc etc but DP doesn't like anything!! It's so infuriating, I'm sure he's just winding me up!

I'm still not in maternity clothes.. what's everyone else like? I just look fat with big knockers.

Is anyone else having a really positive experience? I've not had any problems at all and I love being pregnant, it's just such a special time and I get really giddy when I think about when it will be here. I definately want to have more children.

rhubarb90 · 13/05/2007 15:37

I don't know whether I'm supposed to join in somewhere else, but I was asked on the pregnancy board if I had joined this one too, so I thought I would. If that makes any sense. Hope you don't mind me jumping in anyway . My 20 week scan is on Tuesday, my due date is September 30th. Hi all!

Puppie · 13/05/2007 16:16

Welcome Rhubarb90 and good luck for your scan on Tues!

canadianmum · 13/05/2007 18:50

Phew - took me ages to catch up with all the messages, hope I didn't miss anything with my skimming!

tinkjon - welcome! My boys (twins) start school 6th sept and I am due 15th so not sure how that is going to work out.....

sophus - your FIL sounds like a nightmare, hope you got an apology. My PIL were homophobic until my poor BIL finally came out of the closet and now it is all OK evidently, makes me very !

emalushka - I am having a really lovely pregnancy - SO FAR! I think it is because I am just having one baby this time and it seems so much more straightforward. But I am definitely in maternity clothes and have been for weeks - do you not have a bump yet? There is NO WAY I could fit into normal clothes now and I have gained about 11 lbs so far.

HIWBB - Congratulations! Pink pink pink pink pink pink pink

re: hospital bags, I didn't have mine packed last time and went in with nothing at 31 weeks, but would have had to buy new clothes for the babies anyway as they were so small. DH got sent home with lots of lists! I think I will do mine around 32 weeks or so or whenever the urge strikes!

I have my 22 week scan tomorrow morning, am starting to get a bit nervous but not like for the 12 week one. Am not planning to find out the sex but we shall see....

canadianmum · 13/05/2007 18:51

Welcome rhubarb90!!

Hopeitwontbebig · 13/05/2007 20:10

Welcome rhubarb90! Make sure you add your details on the stats list. Just click on link, copy and paste your details onto scan list, and due date list. x

Canadianmum, this pregnancy must seem like a walk in the park compared to carrying twins! Oooh, you are good not planning to find out the sex.

OK ladies, we need to help each other out on the names front, need inspiration, keep the name suggestions coming!!! Also, tips on Managing DH's who 'appear' to just be difficult when it comes to agreeing on a name!

I got on quite well yesterday at the babyshow, although it was absolutely PACKED! I managed to get the pram I wanted (Mamas and Papas Sport 03), the carseat (Maxi Cosi), saving £15 on each, I got a steriliser, bottle warmer, breast pump and a few other bits like blankets, changing mat and some clothes etc, pink, pink, pink!!!! All in I think I saved about £60-£70, so it was worth the trip. I'm exhausted though! Did you go aswell Nicki10?

Hope everyone has had a good albeit wet weekend and you're all feeling well. Enjoy your Sunday evening. x x

Nicki10 · 14/05/2007 05:19

Yes I did go and I did extremely well thnk you. I managed to get the cot we wanted, the stokke sleepi and the bumper, sheets, cover and sleeping bags and saved £180 on it so I was very pleased with that!. The money that I saved then went on a steriliser, playmat, changing mat, cot mobile, egg thermometer, baby monitor, clothes and toys!!. So we came away with several bags and a boot full as well!. Now all we hve left to buy is the pram, bouncy chair and toiletries so I think were doing alright. It was very busy but we got there first thing when it was quiter which was nice.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend even though the weather was horrendous.

Chattyhan · 14/05/2007 09:17

Hi all and welcome to rhubabr and gook luck for your scan tues.

My scan is in an hour!!!

getting quite nervous now.

emalushka - glad you are loving being pregnant. This is my second baby so i've been in maternity clothes for quite a while but with my first i didn't need them til about 6 months. Unfortunately i'm not sharing your positive experience due to hastle with bleeding in first 3 months and not enough time or energy to look after myself! It does make me feel guilty. I know i should be sitting/resting more but just can't find the time with ds, dp and work. So i'm paying with discomfort and backache.

I'm rhesus neg too so happy to help with any questions!

HIWBB and Nicki - glad you enjoyed your retail therapy!!!

canadianmum - my ds is due to start playgroup in sept. and i'm due 16th - so i sympathise with you. we are planning to defer him until oct halfterm when things will be a little more settled. I don't think it's quite as easy for you to defer but i'm sure lots of people have been in a simular situation - why don't you start a thread for suggestions or look in last sept postnatal threads?

Anyway what am i still doing here!!! I'll report back later xx

Hopeitwontbebig · 14/05/2007 09:34

Lots of luck to Chattyhan and Canadianmum for your scans today

Nicki10, you did really well at the babyshow! I didn't need to get a cot, because we're getting our old cot back from my sister in law, although it's nearly 11 years old, it is really beautiful and was very expensive at the time. I was a bit because when we went to the collect by car desk, the lady there informed me that we should have come yesterday afternoon, because apparently everything is sold off really cheap..... great. I'm consoling myself with the fact that all the good things would have gone by then!

Morning everybody!

Morning especially to HIWWB and Fio! VERY jealous of retail therapy sessions, btw. I haven't really set foot into a baby shop yet, except for a couple of clandestine trips to Mothercare when I should have been in Morrisons!

Unfortunately MIL keeps harping on about buying baby stuff too soon is 'bad luck'. This sentiment is now ingrained into DH. 'better not look at prams...it's bad luck'. 'better not discuss painting the nursery...it's bad luck'. Grrrrrrr! Load of old pants to me! . It's bad luck to expect heavily preggers wife to trapse around shops two weeks before the birth, I would say so!!

Anyho, I have been having a field day on Ebay. Managed to get the cot I wanted for £50 when it is still being sold in John Lewis for £200! Nice! Also got tons of nursery bits and bobs for peanuts too. Of course, DH is none the wiser as it is all being delivered to my parents - HA HA

My philsophy is to save my money now for when the little one starts requesting designer jeans and school skiing trips!!! That's when the big bucks are required..

best wishes to all! x

rhubarb90 · 14/05/2007 10:28

Thanks so much for the welcomes everyone, I updated the scan and details lists, but I've no idea if I did it right... I hope it's okay and that everyone is feeling fine.

spraklynewthing · 14/05/2007 10:33

Welcome rhubarb90! Looked at your vital stats and looks good to me!

Hopeitwontbebig · 14/05/2007 10:47

Welcome Rhubarb - My scan is tomorrow too, sooo excited

Good luck to those having scans today

Rin23 · 14/05/2007 12:49

Wowser! 3 days away and great to catch up on all news.

I can't believe some of you are buying stuff - how exciting! I am going to wait til after my scan which isn't til 23 weeks (ten days and counting), don't want to tempt fate (God, do I sound like Sprakly's MIL??!!). I'm not sure if I should be ashamed to admit this but I have got a rocking crib that my father made for me (as a baby) which we will use for the first couple of months - it's a mere 33 years old! Might have to get a new mattress? I am hoping it conforms to safety regulations, etc, but like the idea of a family crib? does anyone know how I can check?

Great to hear all the positive scan news, and sorry some of you are having hassle with anti D stuff - no idea how it works myself, being a B+. Interested to read about placenta - i've not read anything about this in my book so think I'll do some more research. Which reminds me, did anyone read the article in the Guardian last thurs/ weds about freebirthing? Scarey, is all I can say!

More people due on the 21st Sept (like me) - it seems like it's gonna be the busiest day of the year for babies?! hurrah!

Good luck with coming scans girls...

Chattyhan · 14/05/2007 13:39

Scan went well, placenta has moved so thats good news and baby seems to be developing nicely. They think it's a boy! which isn't the news we were hoping for but a healthy baby is the main thing.

We aren't planning any more than 2 children and have ds who is 2.5 so were hoping for a girl. I just feel i'm going to miss out on the special mother daughter relationship. I'm obviously destined to be picking up from football not ballet!

Don't mean to sound ungrateful but really disappointed and can't stop crying. DP stormed off from the appointment and won't even talk to me!
