This is my 2nd dc. We weren’t trying so unexpected but I’ve had a feeling something was going on for the last week. Tested this morning and got a BFP.

So it’s DC2 (already have a 4 year old DS)
Due date 5/11/18 I think

My feb 2014 group is fab and I’ve made some lovely friends on there so hoping to do the same this time all being well!

I’m taking 25ug of vitamin D and 400mg folic acid a day. I tried pregnacare when I was ttc and it made me feel so sick!

Hope those of you who are feeling terrible feel better soon. I seem to be quite up and down - generally very tired and nauseous but eating helps the nausea. I had enough energy to go out for dinner last night and am out later tonight to see a friend and I’m amazed I have the energy.

My hay fever is starting and I can’t take my usual antihistamines while pregnant so I need to ask my doctor what she’d recommend instead. I can’t face the thought of a London summer with hay fever!

MiniMinions · 15/03/2018 19:57

@Aussi - hope appraisal went well

@olderthanyouthink I almost bought a new top today but didn’t as didn’t size up and knew wouldn’t be wearing it long. So difficult argh

@Poppy1984 and @Picklesandpies - welcome to the party

@sarahhh1984 - great news!!

Horrible sicky feeling in throat all day again today, sometimes eating helped others made it worse. Am also so tired eyes hurting 😩 the weird dreams and the epic fails at getting back to sleep if i wake up (mainly disturbed by DH being a fidget arse/moving noisily if gets up ) are really taking their toll. Glad it's nearly the weekend but we've got stuff on every day ughhhh

MiniMinions · 15/03/2018 19:59

Oh and @Nightmanagerfan hadn't thought about hay fever as last pregnancy I managed to survive don't think that will happen this time!!

Tyrionsbitch · 15/03/2018 20:57

I have also started to have very vivid dreams and I keep waking up confused! I've booked an early scan for 8 weeks as I'm desperate to check that there is a heartbeat!

Teaisnecessary · 15/03/2018 21:05

@Picklesandpies mine are 4 and 2. DS1 has asked about another sibling, though he says he wants it to be a girl and was unimpressed when I explained it’s not something you can choose! Don’t think DS2 will be pleased to be usurped as the baby of the house. Think we’ll wait til after the 12 week scan too & can be a bit more confident. DS1 has bad form for keeping secrets too!

@sarahhh1984 I’ve had to do a retest before. They didn’t tell me what the offending lurgy was but it turned out to just be contaminated. On a related point I wish they’d always give out the sample pots with funnels - sooo awkward when you just get a tiny pot! Grin

Thanks guys, I’m feeling better after reading your comments. I’m sorry others are suffering too but helps to be reminded I’m not on my own with this. Am in two minds whether to tell anyone at this stage - it’s still so v early for me but be nice to be able to access some support when DH is away. It’s great to be able to share here though.

Another November 2018 baby here :) found out on Mother’s Day that I’m expecting my 3rd! DDs are 10 and 6 so rather big age gap but I’m sure they’ll be great little helpers. Early days, but very excited!

Picklesandpies · 16/03/2018 02:57

Marchblossom congratulations! We are in a similar boat - mine are 7 and 10. Wondering how I will keep this secret until 12 weeks if I get morning sickness. I had it very badly with dd1 and not so badly with Dd2 so could go either way I suppose. Bit anxious about how it will affect dd1 who is starting secondary school in September but I suppose there never is the perfect time. Hope you are feeling well so far. No symptoms for me yet.

Teaisnecessary our Dd2 also isn't know for her discretion so we definitely won't tell her until we are happy for the world to know! I would love to tell a friend or two but I know that everyone you tell, you need to 'untell' if the outcome isn't a positive one. We are hoping to tell my parents at the weekend... just have to hope they don't let the cat out of the bag with our dc or other family members!

MrsFTigalar · 16/03/2018 06:07

Hello, can I join in please? Got my BFP yesterday after 21 months of ttc. Such a relief as I'd started to give up hope that DS would have a brother or sister.

EDD is 20th November, and I haven't thought beyond that at all.

BadBadBeans · 16/03/2018 06:38

Welcome to all the newcomers!

I am away at a friend's house in a rare child-free and husband-free event. Have of course availed myself of the opportunity to POAS in peace. Just to check!

moomoo85 · 16/03/2018 06:59

I have a cold. It was starting yesterday but today it is full blown. Can't take decongestants which are my normal go to. Also have my 3 year old all day today and o
so so tired and a bit sicky . It is going to be a long day

MochiBean · 16/03/2018 08:53

I'm having a really hard time hiding my pregnancy at work. Quite a few people have 'guessed' now because I have been suffering so much from nausea etc.

Kind of at a loss as to what to do. I imagine the gossip is starting so I'm wondering if it's better to tell my boss now instead of waiting until after my scan on May 1st?

toasterstrudle · 16/03/2018 08:57

@MochiBean you're under no obligation to tell anyone, but if you'd feel more comfortable than you can tell your boss, say it's early days so no need to discuss maternity leave at this point but just to explain your nausea and upcoming medical appointments.

toasterstrudle · 16/03/2018 09:03

And also, I do feel for you, I'm a teacher too and found my last pregnancy tricky hiding the nausea! The worst was packed lunches or snack time 🤢

Luckily I'm actually still on maternity leave with DS, although god knows I won't be popular when I go back to work 3 months pregnant Blush!

Katy16 · 16/03/2018 10:50

Hi all, can I join.

Complete newbie to all this and I've just found I'm about 5 weeks pregnant for the first time. Super excited but also nervous. Due date calculator is telling me I'm due on 19th November. So far just bloated and a bit if a sicky feeling at the back of my throat. How an earth do you manage to keep this secret for another 7 weeks!!

Picklesandpies · 16/03/2018 11:41

Has anyone taken a subsequent pregnancy test which has been lighter? I have admittedly just had two big cups of tea one after the other but I took an Internet cheapie and it was negative and I took an early response and it was positive but fainter than yesterday's (which was a 'rapid response' one rather than early response.) Bit worried now. Hmm

keepinghopeful · 16/03/2018 11:47

@Picklesandpies step away from the tests. Ive stopped testing as petrified ill see a lighter line & send me into panic.

Picklesandpies · 16/03/2018 11:51

I know.. so silly. I should ask my husband to hide them! x

TheStickSong · 16/03/2018 11:55

Hi All - I'm not sure but I'm probably out. Started bleeding last night. Similar in quantity and quality to a period. I still have headaches but I'm not convinced anything is there. Not quite sure what to do now though? If I take another pregnancy test will I have stopped producing the required hormones or will it still react to what was there before? And, apart from cancelling my booking in appointment, do I need to do anything with the midwife.

Best of luck to you all. x

BadBadBeans · 16/03/2018 11:57

@Picklesandpies if it wasn't your first morning wee and you had drink a lot of fluid then it will dilute it! I purposely have taken mine at the same time of day, and have waited several days between each so that I can see a clear difference and therefore will be less likely to panic! As keeping said, step away from the tests! X

BadBadBeans · 16/03/2018 12:00

@TheStickSong I'm very sorry to hear that. I haven't experienced it myself but I believe you should either contact your midwife service or your Early pregnancy unit who can arrange a scan to see what is going on. I can't remember how far along you are? You do hear of people who have bleeds and the pregnancy continues. Hope that is the case for you xxx

BadBadBeans · 16/03/2018 12:02

Oh and I might be wrong but I think it takes a while for hormone levels to drop back down so a pregnany test will not tell yoi anything definitive. A GP could do blood tests to see if your levels are still increasing. You should definitely ring your GP or the EPU. Good luck x

keepinghopeful · 16/03/2018 12:03

@TheStickSong im so sorry to hear, in my previous m/c's contact gp/midwife or epu as they will want to scan you to see whats happening. You never know, it could be coming from cervix or something & not baby so better to get checked out x

TheStickSong · 16/03/2018 12:15

@keepinghopeful Really? I'm only 6 weeks though? Is there anything to actually see? Thanks for the positive thoughts; I just want to know really.

dontquit · 16/03/2018 12:16

Sorry to hear you're bleeding @TheStickSong. I know it's nerve wrecking. There is still hope though. So many people have bleeds on and off and go on to have normal pregnancies. Have you any cramping? Cramping or pains with bleeding is worse I think but bleeding on its own not so much. Don't cancel your apt and you should definitely call epu and get checked out. They might not have definitive answer for you today but they will be able to monitor you..scans/bloods etc and form an idea of what is happening. X

BadBadBeans · 16/03/2018 12:22

Yes @TheStickSong they can take measurements to see whether it is the right size for your dates (indicating whether it is growing as it should) and sometimes they can even find a heartbeat that early - one of the ladies on this thread just had a scan if you read back.
