This is my 2nd dc. We weren’t trying so unexpected but I’ve had a feeling something was going on for the last week. Tested this morning and got a BFP.

So it’s DC2 (already have a 4 year old DS)
Due date 5/11/18 I think

My feb 2014 group is fab and I’ve made some lovely friends on there so hoping to do the same this time all being well!

@FireworksBaby I've got my fingers crossed for you

@MochiBean I hope you can pee better and feel better today

@MeredithShepherd I just got the Ovia app BUT I'm a (web/software) developer and my phone it's used for testing by others/ left lying around so I need to hide the app and the push notifications from my (mostly male) colleagues 🤦‍♀️

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer putting the scan photo in the coffin is a really lovely idea and I hope it give your DH some comfort.
I do ballet (missed a bunch of classes recently) I've seen a couple pregnant women there so I think I'll just have to be careful with turns and jump but it should be fine at the barre. I also cycle to work, will need to switch bikes if the bump gets in the way but I'd like to keep riding.

@TheImprobableGirl and the other new comers there's a SPREADSHEET HERE

@MiniMinions ok thanks, I had a weird moment in H&M the other day just after I got BFP because this wasn't supposed to happen but now I want the bump and it came out as me getting upset that clothes won't fit. Confused if that makes sense.

Poppy1984 · 15/03/2018 10:57

Morning ladies. I'm scared to say I'm having baby number 2! My goodness I cannot believe It. Hubby and are were not trying so I'm scared. My daughter is 6 so there's a bit of a gap. I did a CBD this Morning after feeling sick, tired and sore boobs. It said pregnant 2-3 weeks.
The first date of my last period was 02.02.18 so I think I am 5+ weeks. I have forgotten what to do now to be honest! I feel the need to do more tests!?? X

SakuraSunrise · 15/03/2018 12:17

Just back from getting my second blood test done, hopefully should get the results on Monday, feeling optimistic as I've had no more spotting and threw up for the first time this morning.

Welcome @Poppy1984 I hope you're feeling ok, that must have been quite a shock, re what to do next, could you call your GP and ask what the process is in your area? When I had DS I lived in a different area and the GP there confirmed the result with a urine test and referred me to the MW, but where I live now they just took the word of my pregnancy test and told me to self refer to the MW?!

@sarahhh1984 I'm thinking of you very much, I hope your scan goes well Thanks

sarahhh1984 · 15/03/2018 12:19

Morning ladies, just been for my scan and all is well. Got a bit of a fright though as at first the sonographer couldn't see a heartbeat and was in the middle of telling me I'd have to return in two weeks when she goes, "Hang on, what's that?" Got me to hold my breath and then she could see the heartbeat. Smile She showed us it flickering away on screen.

She measured the baba at 5+6 which puts be two days behind LMP-based date. However, they also did that when I was pregnant with DD and then 12 week scan revealed I was actually two days ahead so taking things with a pinch of salt until then and just continuing to go with LMP-based EDD for now.

So relieved!

MeredithShepherd · 15/03/2018 13:18

Oh @Sarahhh1984 I’m so relieved for you!!! I am so tempted to have an early scan as I am just so worried something is going to go wrong even though I know the odds are in my favour really.

olderthanyouthink · 15/03/2018 13:19

@sarahhh1984 aahhh yay!!!!! Grin

sarahhh1984 · 15/03/2018 13:27

Thank you @MeredithShepherd and @olderthanyouthink. I'm so relieved. Although heart still racing from the fright she gave me! @MeredithShepherd, if you think it would would set your mind at ease, I'd go for it. If I hadn't had to go for mine because of the spotting, I'd have paid for one I think.

Got home to find my appointment letter for my 12 week scan. It's 27 April so I'll either be 12+2 or 12 weeks exactly, depending on how which dates you go by! x

sarahhh1984 · 15/03/2018 13:27

Haha! Not sure where all that bold came from!

Picklesandpies · 15/03/2018 13:28

Hi, I had my bfp this morning - still in shock (we were trying so obviously shouldn't be too surprised!) This is baby no3 for us (our last!) It's been 8 years since I've done this though so feels rather new to me again! Feel a bit anxious about how it will affect our two dds (one of them desperate for another one, the other not so much!) Hoping it all just works out. Think due date will be around 18th Nov but it's very early on so trying not to get ahead of myself. Fingers crossed though!

BadBadBeans · 15/03/2018 13:35

@minime2017 @AJ89 @wejammin I'm glad (but also sorry!) it's not just me having the vivid dreams. I got this last time in first trimester and right after the birth. I guess it's all the hormones affecting the brain? The ones I had last night were truly harrowing and I was so disturbed I couldn't go back to sleep. Fortunately DS woke half an hour later so I was able to nab a nice reassuring toddler cuddle!

@Aussi hope the appraisal goes well.

BadBadBeans · 15/03/2018 13:55

@olderthanyouthink it is hard enough getting your head around the body changes when it's a planned pregnancy, let alone when it's a surprise! Just remember it's only temporary, although it is true that it takes 9 months to grow a baby and 9 months to get back to normal afterwards. That said I was back in most of my clothes when DS was 4 months old, and I was 31 so nowhere near as spring-backable as you will be at your age!

Welcome @Poppy1984 how exciting! Ring your GP and see when you need to arrange to book in with a midwife. It's different everywhere; yours might see you straight away!

@SakuraSunrise good luck with the test and congratulations / commiserations on the vomming!

@sarahhh1984 how wonderful! I'm so pleased for you! Hope you feel like you can enjoy the first trimester a bit more now.

I'm 5 weeks today and am smelling everything really strongly. I didn't have this with DS because I had a rotten chest infection until 6 weeks pregnant and couldn't breathe through my nose! It's okay but a bit odd with things like laundry liquid, but I'm currently sitting next to someone on a train and am, well, smelling them more than I would ideally like to!

Teaisnecessary · 15/03/2018 13:57

Oh @sarahhh1984 that’s wonderful news, so happy for you! You must be so relieved!

@picklesandpies Congrats on your BFP! I’m also expecting our third and have a similar situation with my DCs - DS1 will be delighted, suspect DS2 rather less so!

I’ve been having the vivid dreams too. I often don’t remember my dreams very clearly but these are staying with me and have been really distressing. Can anyone remember when it eased up for them?

Teaisnecessary · 15/03/2018 14:10

Did someone mention having their emotions all over the place? I’m so excited about this pregnancy, it’s so much wanted & I know how lucky I am. But found myself having a little cry last night. Confused

Guess I had forgotten what hard work this first trimester can be! My DCs are fantastic but it’s hard work cooking their dinner & doing the bedtime routine alone when I’m feeling so nauseous & exhausted. I know these symptoms are going will get worse before they get better, so I know I need to pull on my big girl pants & just crack on with it! Is anyone else having similar feelings?

Picklesandpies · 15/03/2018 17:15

Teaisnecessary thank you! How old are your children? Mine are 7 and 10. Wondering how dd1 old will react. She has previously said she wouldn't want another sibling as she is worried she won't get as much attention. Dd2 constantly says she would love another baby brother or sister. When will you tell your children? I am waiting until 12 weeks to tell everyone apart from my parents!

Magpie24 · 15/03/2018 17:48

Amazing news @sarahhh1984

Potkettleblack2 · 15/03/2018 18:00

Aussi how was your appraisal? I'm quite anxious about work these days, and I'm not normally so-I think it must be the hormones. I don't like it though!
I had a mild wave of nausea this morning, and it was oddly reassuring as I don't have many other symptoms. I know I won't say that if it gets worse!

MochiBean · 15/03/2018 18:02

@Teaisnecessary oh god me. I'm actually not enjoying this at all right now. I know I will very much love the result at the end of the 9 months... but the constant nausea is basically destroying me. I do not do well with being sick and am really struggling at work.

I think it's okay to totally hate the first trimester though (I have a niggling feeling I'm going to hate all three trimesters ahah)

Emelene · 15/03/2018 18:21

@Teaisnecessary @MochiBean - me too. I'm so happy to be pregnant but I've really felt sick today, struggled for nearly an hour to get my sandwich down. Thankfully my nausea isn't constant at the minute but does seem to be getting worse.Confused It is a scary prospect that things may get worse for a good while yet before they get better - even if it's for a wonderful reason! It doesn't help that I can't really talk about it to work / friends yet! Yay for mumsnet! Smile

SkyLucy · 15/03/2018 18:23

@teaisnecessary I'm with you on the totes emosh front. This pregnancy is a surprise (although we certainly wanted a second child), and I'm finding it a bit overwhelming. DH works away a lot (he's in Singapore now) and I've been struggling to cope with our 1-yr-old in his extended absences...god knows how I'm going to manage come November. We'll also need to move house, and I'm really worried about money.

I've got a scan tomorrow to check dates...if all is well I hope I can start looking forward and planning, rather than just panicking.

All will be okay I'm sure, just feeling daunted. And sick. As. A. Dog. I really had erased the memory of how badly I get morning sickness!! Sorry to hear others are struggling too. Roll on the 2nd trimester!

MochiBean · 15/03/2018 18:36

@Emelene oh the eating. Lunch is so painful at the moment. I've found today that travel sickness bands help to take the edge off!

I've told a few people at work for moral support... kind of had to because they thought I was dying I was looking so grey 😂

SakuraSunrise · 15/03/2018 18:39

Great news @sarahhh1984 Smile

dontquit · 15/03/2018 18:41

Sorry, haven't posted for a while but keeping up to date. Welcome to all the new comers and congrats @sarah.
Sorry to hear so many of you are suffering with nausea and vomiting.
I'm 7+2 and this is no.3. Not much to report. Stomach feels a bit funny sort of sore at some points during the day but definitely not nauseated. Breasts are still bigger and a little tender but the pain has eased. Hoping this is not a bad sign. Funny how I can't remember previous pregnancies.

I haven't had morning sickness before but was nauseated on last pregnancy. I remember I missed a few days of pregnanacare and the nausea stopped. Then started taking them again and was nauseated so stopped all together.
This time I'm just taking vit d and folic acid so far and will prob have to take some iron later in the pregnancy. Can I ask what does vit d is recommended in pregnancy?
I mc'd at 7 weeks before so a bit on edge this week. Have booking apt with Gp tomorrow.

sarahhh1984 · 15/03/2018 18:47

Thank you for all your congratulations! I feel a lot better now, although I won't count my chickens until the 12 week scan. But I do feel reassured.

Earlier, my mw texted me to say I needed to do another urine test as the one I provided at booking in was showing e-coli. 🙀 She seems to think it's just a contaminated sample though as my report wasn't showing any sensitivities so have to drop off a new one at GPs tomorrow morning to be re-tested. Has anyone had this before in previous pregnancies?

LastNightsMakeUp · 15/03/2018 18:51

@dontquit NICE recommends pregnant women take 10 micro grams of vit d each day.

I’m only 5+3 so no real nausea yet (started vomiting at 6 weeks last time) but I’m still having bad insomnia and migraines. Sat with a hot water bottle on my head at the moment - luckily dd is in bed and oh is out because I look a bit bonkers!

MeredithShepherd · 15/03/2018 19:34

Pumpkin I haven’t had a link to the fb group yet? Have you not had chance or has it got lost in cyber space? No rush though!!
