This is my 2nd dc. We weren’t trying so unexpected but I’ve had a feeling something was going on for the last week. Tested this morning and got a BFP.

So it’s DC2 (already have a 4 year old DS)
Due date 5/11/18 I think

My feb 2014 group is fab and I’ve made some lovely friends on there so hoping to do the same this time all being well!

Thanks @Picklesandpies and @wejammin for the car recommendations. Wish we had thought ahead a bit too, even with the DC we have now, trying to pack & unpack the boot of our hatchback is like playing suitcase Jenga! DH is currently quite resistant to the idea of getting a people carrier but I can’t see us regretting having too much space.

@marchblossom I will look up that supplement, thank you. I think heavy periods followed by 2 pregnancies, sections and breastfeeding combined with being veggie haven taken their toll a bit. I’ve been on the hunt for a gentle iron supplement that would actually work for me, so will definitely give that a go.

@Thesticksong I’m so very sorry to hear that. Flowers I’m glad you have the comfort of those lovely puppy snuggles.

LastNightsMakeUp · 18/03/2018 10:45

@thesticksong so sorry to hear about your loss - sending lots of love.

@picklesandpies up since 04:30 here but was asleep by 9 last night so feel quite good really. I had the private 12 week scan at the birth company (www.thebirthcompany.co.uk/nuchal-scan.php) they also email you a video of the scan which was nice to show the grandparents. I’m definitely going to go back there for our 12 week all being well. You can arrange appointments for evening and weekends for slightly more and I think you can quite often get last minute appointments.

olderthanyouthink · 18/03/2018 10:51

Go for it @TinyPaws

TinyPaws · 18/03/2018 11:37

I've been feeling tired, nauseous and headachy since Friday night... please tell me this isn't pregnancy sickness already? I thought that wasn't supposed to kick in until about 6 weeks? Not actually vommed though, just feeling queasy most of the time.

My boobs are also super sore (worse than normal PMT tenderness) and I have cramps which feel a little different to my usual PMT cramps (more of a pulling sensation where as my usual cramps feel like a scraping sensation). Does anyone else feel like this?

Sorry for 1001 questions I have never been pregnant before so this is completely uncharted territory! I'm slowly reading my way through this thread in between housework etc.

marchblossom · 18/03/2018 12:06

All normal @TinyPaws - my nausea always kicks in early!

Clarigirl87 · 18/03/2018 12:16

I’m feeling queasy a lot of the time, mainly first things in the morning and then again about 5.30/6. Think it’s when I get hungry so trying to keep eating little snacks all the time! Was going to go out and stock up today but don’t fancy driving in the snow so thinking about what I can make at home with store cupboard ingredients to keep me going this week.

TinyPaws · 18/03/2018 12:36

Thanks @marchblossom. I had visions of me being all chill and rational while pregnant but clearly over-analysing every little twinge is the way this is going to go!

@Clarigirl87 Glad it's not just me but I hope you feel better! I find eating helps too, going to have to get organised with some snacks for work if this continues!

I've been desperately craving Pepsi since I smelled someone drinking it on Thursday. I don't even like Pepsi?!

Picklesandpies · 18/03/2018 12:52

Thanks @LastNightsMakeUp That clinic looks good. I like that theY email you the scan. I'm not in London but only an hour on the train so might go for early scan locally and then book this for 12 weeks. Did you go for NHS 12 week scan as well?

My early rising is catching up on me now... 😴

LastNightsMakeUp · 18/03/2018 14:19

@picklesandpies yes had a 12 week NHS one too but didn’t repeat the screening bloods and just gave my midwife a copy of the results. My NHS scan wasn’t booked til nearly 14 weeks so had a couple of weeks in between, and it was nice to have another sneak peak at baby. I can self refer to my local hospital tomorrow so will wait to see what date my NHS scan is and then book around it.

LastNightsMakeUp · 18/03/2018 14:20

@picklesandpie - screening bloods for Down syndrome etc. Still needed routine bloods and blood grouping bloods taken by the midwives.

Picklesandpies · 18/03/2018 14:36

Thanks for the info @LastNightsMakeUp. Really helpful. I'll look into it this evening when I am not being pulled in all directions (how will I cope with a baby added into the mix I wonder!) Grin

SakuraSunrise · 18/03/2018 16:36

@TheStickSong so sorry to hear your news, thinking about you Thanks

Potkettleblack2 · 18/03/2018 16:59

After a week of being constipated I now have the opposite problem. I'm assuming it's pregnancy related rather than a bug. But I feel awful! (And my FIL is here at the moment so it's a bit awkward having to slip away constantly-he doesn't know I'm pregnant). Does anyone know if there's anything I can take?

sarahhh1984 · 18/03/2018 17:11

Can I just ask those who've had an elc in the past, did you meet any resistance from your mw?

As I've mentioned on this thread before, I had a very traumatic time delivering DD and over the last few days I've been getting flashbacks that have been leading to anxiety and panic attacks. I originally thought I'd go for a vaginal birth but I'm currently leaning towards an elc as at least I'll know when I'm going in, what will be happening and I'll have a certain degree of control.

Only thing is I know my mw from last time and she's very keen on everything being as natural as possible and is a big advocate of home births. I'm not sure she'll be that supportive if I say I want an elc. Has anyone ever met resistance from their mw when asking for an elc and, if so, how did you deal with it.

Magpie24 · 18/03/2018 18:05

Nausea at peak so far today. Was fine this morning but have spent the afternoon in bed. Not sure I will make it to work tomorrow. Does anyone have any thoughts about telling work early? I'm only 6+3 and have been Brown spotting for the last week or so, so am worried about ending in miscarriage and then also having to explain that to work.

hellotoyellow · 18/03/2018 18:12

Hi @Magpie! I'm also thinking about telling work soon. I think the nausea may well make it obvious. Am going to go to epau sometime this week and ask for a scan as spotting - might feel more confident after that. Ideally would hold off until after 10 weeks (am only 5+4) but don't want to lie about illness so will see how long that lasts. I think they would have to know if I had a miscarriage and needed time off so I guess it doesn't matter so long as it's just my line manager iyswim.

MeredithShepherd · 18/03/2018 18:13

I’ve already had to tell work as I work in a children’s day nursery so have to make sure impaired with someone all the time as I can’t just dash off to throw up leaving 3 babies by themselves! Work were fine and only the people that need to know know.

Hi ladies, hope you are all feeling well. Second baby for us due mid November :0) so i expect him/her to arrive around Christmas if he/she is anything like No1. I've got 9 months to potty train No1 and somehow get him to sleep through :-0 I'm new to mumsnet not sure how it works, is this the 'official' November due date group? I was on a WTE group last time which was really good. X

Picklesandpies · 18/03/2018 18:17

Feel for those of you with nausea. When did yours start? I simply cannot remember from when I had it so badly with dd1 over ten years ago. I'm 5 weeks but don't feel any whatsoever yet.

No advice re work I'm afraid but hopefully any good boss will understand and make allowances (and be discreet.)

MammyDC · 18/03/2018 18:21

Sorry you aren't feeling well. I waited until 22 weeks to tell my work last time and basically they started discriminating against me as soon as i did :0( if you have promotions or anything on the horizon maybe hold off if you can? Most people are a bit oblivious and even though i had a massive tum, took lots of time off for appointments, kept thowing up and didn't drink at many work socials nobody had twigged. Hopefully your work will be lovely about it. Examples of what happened to me: taken off a client project (they stupidly cc'd me in email chain saying they were doing this because i was pregnant), being told 'you wouldn't want this promotion anyway because you are pregnant', being given a lower performance rating because 'you can only get the top grade if you are here all 12 months' etc. Luckily my direct boss was lovely and made up for all the other directors idiotic ways. x

LastNightsMakeUp · 18/03/2018 18:56

@sarahhh1984 sorry I can’t help but also am interested about those who have requested an elective c section. I had an emergency section last time and knew immediately that I’d want an elective for my next pregnancy. I’m worried I’m really going to have to fight my corner.

I’ve a friend who just point blank went into her first ever mw appointment and said that she wanted a c section and wouldn’t consider a natural birth... 😱 I was all up for as natural as possible but the build up to the emergency c section was so scary I don’t want to go through that again and this’ll be our last baby. I’ll be tapping into her once I’m further along to find out what she said (can’t even begin to imagine!)

SakuraSunrise · 18/03/2018 19:10

Hi @MammyDC, I'm also planning on potty training 2yo DS in the next couple of months, I know it has to be done and I need to get on with it but the thought of having to take DS to public toilets with a newborn in tow come November fills me with horror! Confused

Katy16 · 18/03/2018 19:12

@Magpie24
I have also just started light brown spotting today. I'm only 5+2, first pregnancy and pretty worried by it. Fingers crossed it's nothing and all carries along as we hope. I'm also going to have to tell work early because I work with x-rays and anaesthetic gases. I don't think it should be a problem if you have to

Magpie24 · 18/03/2018 19:13

@MammyDC that sounds like a such an awful time. I'm so sorry that that happened to you.

I'm hopeful I'll be well supported. My team are great and I've just been promoted recently so nothing in the pipeline on that front.

Have a fairly new line manager though so that's uncharted territory.

And for those asking my sickness started about a week ago and I'm 6+4

Magpie24 · 18/03/2018 19:14

@Katy16 that's roughly when mine started too. So unnerving isn't it. No one I've spoken to had any concerns though, the EPU said they see pale brown spotting all the time
