This is my 2nd dc. We weren’t trying so unexpected but I’ve had a feeling something was going on for the last week. Tested this morning and got a BFP.

So it’s DC2 (already have a 4 year old DS)
Due date 5/11/18 I think

My feb 2014 group is fab and I’ve made some lovely friends on there so hoping to do the same this time all being well!

@Potkettleblack2 yes the group is set to closed so you are able to find it but none of your Facebook friends can see what you post or what is written on the group it is also down as Guy Fawkes 2018 so it's not recognised as a pregnancy thing xx

CatSneeze · 13/03/2018 11:51

I’m really anxious about the upcoming nausea and sickness! I was in a really bad way last time and only had myself to look after, now I have a 15 month old and also need to attend a hen in a couple of weeks which requires a flight and my first ever night away from DS which I was already v nervous about! If anyone has any magic morning sickness cures please post on here!!

MiniMinions · 13/03/2018 12:01

@SakuraSunrise – great news re levels at the right point – fingers crossed they keep on rising for you
@sarahh1984 – interesting re 8-12 weeks being against NICE guidelines as my booking appointment is at 9 weeks and I remember being seen earlier than that last time – think what doesn’t help is last time there were community midwife at the drs surgery but think that they are no longer there so everything is at the hospital – major ballache that is going to be as can’t park at the hospital as zero spaces usually available unless you go about 2 hours before appointment and drive around for ages! Also did they ask you to bring a urine sample as I am sure I did last time but they said just bring myself?
Am also struggling sleeping at the moment, DS woke up about 2 last night and I didn’t get back to bed until nearly 3 and was pretty much tossing and turning until the alarm went off – maybe the odd doze inbetween but really struggling with proper sleep.
I will prob join the fb group later down the line when things get announced etc I think from memory from a previous group if the group is Secret it won’t come up as suggested groups for your friends but closed it still does? I think with my old mn group we all pm’d the person who created it and with our email and they added us or something.
I have had some nausea feeling in throat today ughhh really hoping it doesn’t come to anything as I was lucky last time and was only poorly couple of times.

MeredithShepherd · 13/03/2018 12:17

Sorry guys I’m not joining that fb group. It’s far too big I’d never keep up. I’m happy for us to do our own fb group just us though.

@MeredithShepherd I would be up for a smaller group. I loved my last mumsnet bus, I think it has always been around 60 of us.

Nightmanagerfan · 13/03/2018 12:33

Yes I’d be up for a smaller group about the size of this thread. Someone on it mentioned they’d gone recruiting from net Mums which probably explains why it’s so big! I’m going to leave it but if anyone starts a smaller one I’ll join

Pumpkin2018 · 13/03/2018 13:05

Yes I'd be happier with fb group for people just from this tread too. The other seems too large .

january29 · 13/03/2018 13:08

I’d be happy with a Facebook group from this thread, I don’t know how to set it up but does anyone else.

BadBadBeans · 13/03/2018 13:15

Last time I only joined FB after I'd had my baby and had built up a really strong relationship and trust with the other mums on the thread. The group was started quite late in everyone's pregnancy too, so we only got the real core of us joining. There are fewer than 50 members, and it is still very active. I'd say one of the people on there has even crossed over into a real life friend for me. But I am still extremely wary about what I share on that group, because my real identity is attached to it.

I far prefer the anonymity of Mumsnet. It allows people to ask 'silly' or embarrassing questions, express unhappiness, and share experiences, without fear that that information will go any further (at least not attached to your real identity)!

Clarigirl87 · 13/03/2018 13:21

Yes I’ve already left the other fb group. Too big and too many huns for me afraid!

Pumpkin2018 · 13/03/2018 13:22

I've set up a secret fb group for this tread only, for whoever wants to join if you pm your email address and I'll add you.

BadBadBeans · 13/03/2018 13:26

@Clarigirl87 hahaha - too many huns!!! Made me chuckle!

january29 · 13/03/2018 13:29

@badbadbeans me to

Pumpkin2018 · 13/03/2018 13:47

@nightmangerfan & @january29 I've sent you a email link.

january29 · 13/03/2018 13:51

Thank you @pumpkin2018

Nightmanagerfan · 13/03/2018 14:13

Thanks @pumpkin I’ve joined too. I still plan to stay on this thread as well.

I can report a huge increase in comfort today wearing my new wireless bra - DKNY via TK maxx - bargain at £7.99 and SO comfy! Thanks for the advice up the thread re undergarments.

Anyone else feeling anxious about the birth?! I know it’s soon but I was googling hospital reviews yesterday and ended up reading lots of stories and then couldn’t sleep. Not recommended!

Nausea pretty bad today and I’ve has a headache for about two weeks.

whiningandwining · 13/03/2018 14:28

@Pumpkin2018 how do I send a pm?! Sorry, only use mnet on my phone and I don't know how to do it.

Happ7Bunny · 13/03/2018 14:32

Hi bad bad beans,
No babby this month ... when it's meant to be it'll be.
Just confusing as nausea, bloated, tender boobies and metallic taste in mouth.

Anyone else experienced this?
Hey ho! What'll be will be. 😊

sarahhh1984 · 13/03/2018 14:37

@Nightmanagerfan I did the same when I was pregnant with DD and all the reviews were awful. It scared the life out of time but you have to remember that most people only leave a review when they've had a bad experience so you don't hear much about the thousands of people who had a great experience.

If you're anxious, perhaps mention this to your mw once your registered and see what services your hospital offers such as tours of the maternity facilities. I did this last time and it really helped calm my nerves. It's totally normal to be nervous - especially when it's your first!

Pumpkin2018 · 13/03/2018 14:38

@whiningandwining I'm not sure myself how to pm on a phone but I've sent you a message, if you reply to that I should be able to give you the link.

whiningandwining · 13/03/2018 14:48

Thanks @Pumpkin2018 just replied

SakuraSunrise · 13/03/2018 15:51

Thanks @MiniMinions, it's definitely reassured me a lot.

I saw my usual GP today about something unrelated (on call GP dealt with last weeks spotting). It's most likely that DS's premature birth was caused by a then undiagnosed condition I had which made me very ill after his birth and required multiple operations to fix. My GP supported me so well through all that illness and today when she heard about this pregnancy she was so lovely in reassuring me that what happened last time was a million to one event and the odds of it happing again are tiny.

However, she is concerned about the impact of VBAC (DS was EMCS) given my complicated medical history, so she said the midwife will refer me to the consultant and I should make sure they have a meeting with the surgeon to discuss my history and birth options, but she thinks it'll be most likely they recommend an ELCS, which I was very relieved to hear as that's what my instinct is leaning towards!

SakuraSunrise · 13/03/2018 15:53

Forgot to say I think I'll stay off the FB group as I like the anonymity of MN!

Teaisnecessary · 13/03/2018 16:41

For reasons that others on here have articulated far better than I can, I don’t think the other FB group is for me either. I too enjoy the anonymity of Mumsnet for some stuff so I’ll be sticking around on this thread. Let’s face it, pregnancy & birth and thereafter can get personal! I do like the idea of the smaller thread group though @pumpkin2018, thanks for setting that up. I will try to PM you, I’m a bit inept when using my phone!

hellotoyellow · 13/03/2018 16:53

Hi, I seem to have dropped off this thread, struggling to find time in the day due to nausea! Welcome and congrats to all the new joiners.
First pregnancy, EDD Nov 14.

I've not had the courage to book yet but have been spotting today a very small amount, so might go to an early pregnancy unit. DH is away so ideally will delay until next week though.
The nausea especially in the mornings is quite debilitating - got up extra early this morning to avoid the bus and the crowds, walked halfway to work and then got on the end of a tube line. Fingers crossed it doesn't get much worse! I have got a baby on board badge but worried if I wear it I'll forget to take it off..
