This is my 2nd dc. We weren’t trying so unexpected but I’ve had a feeling something was going on for the last week. Tested this morning and got a BFP.

So it’s DC2 (already have a 4 year old DS)
Due date 5/11/18 I think

My feb 2014 group is fab and I’ve made some lovely friends on there so hoping to do the same this time all being well!

@mochibean it’s really difficult not to worry but the stats are totally in your favour so I’m just thinking about that!

I’m going home to tell my parents on mother’s day - can’t wait as I think they will be v.excited!

Aussi · 07/03/2018 10:10

@toasterstrudle - how weird we posted that at the same time !

Emelene · 07/03/2018 11:03

@Rideforthehills I know what you mean - I'm 5 + 4 and have aching boobs but that's about it. I took another test last night cos I wanted to have some more proof. :P

I guess we should be glad that our bodies are dealing well with it all so far. I'm sure worse symptoms are to come. :P It feels like such a long wait, I can't even book with a midwife for a few more days and my first appointment won't be till week 10 or 11. I'm tooimpatient but I am trying to enjoy the ride

MochiBean · 07/03/2018 11:17

Thank you @Aussi and @toasterstrudle - I told 2 of the ladies I work with after my phone call as the hormonal tears decided to kick in right at that moment. They were better at calming me down than the dr.

I do hate surprises and am finding this waiting and not knowing what will happen unbelievably hard.

I will try to remember that the stats are in my favour and keep my fingers crossed for a sticky bean.

MiniMinions · 07/03/2018 12:05

@MochiBean try not to worry (easier said than done!!) what was the appointment for originally? I seem to have some discharge (TMI i know) today and keep worrying when pants feel bit damp but all ok so far!

Am super hungry today - but think that is because am tired which doesn't help!! Am 5w+1 today according to Ovia. Am dreading telling work as I know it's going to cause me more work in the lead up to get lots done before go on maternity leave. I also don't know how am going to keep it from my friends until after first scan as couple of events coming up where I would normally be drinking - i'm talking meals here so not even as if I could get a 'vodka and diet coke' from the bar when it's actually a diet coke haha arghhhh I might have to develop some illnesses around those times which means am taking meds and can't drink!

MochiBean · 07/03/2018 12:23

@MiniMinions it was mostly to calm my fears and refer me to the local maternity unit (he assured me he was filling in the form as I was on the phone but they won't see me till April)

I've been getting lots of pains, sometimes stomach cramps, sometimes period pains, sometimes like ovulation. At the moment it feels like my uterus is about to fall out every time I move.

I have no idea what's normal so every little pain is making me nervous and it doesn't seem like the usual period pains other people talk about... argh!

SlowTango · 07/03/2018 13:12

I feel the same about lack of symptoms. Not that I want morning sickness (!) but at the moment I keep doubting myself and questioning whether it’s actually happening. I feel like it’s almost too early to have found out, next wee while is going to drag in. Also concerned about how the hell im going to keep it a secret for much longer, me refusing alcohol will certainly raise some eyebrows 😂

Nightmanagerfan · 07/03/2018 14:01

Does anyone else feel absolutely exhausted? I went to bed at 8pm last night as I couldn’t keep my eyes open. Work is a struggle- I feel I could lie under my desk and nap!

sarahhh1984 · 07/03/2018 14:30

@Nightmanagerfan, I'm permanently shattered. I wake up in the morning feeling like it's time to go to bed and then it all goes downhill from there. I've been going to bed earlier and earlier. I think last pregnancy I started going to bed at 7.30 mid-first-trimester. It did get better in the second trimester though. x

MrsHulme · 07/03/2018 14:36

Hiya, I was just directed here as I will most likely have a November baby. Found out last week, so now I am 6 weeks. So worried its all going to turn out to not be real and i'll wake up one day soon and AF will have appeared....boobs keep getting a few pokes a day to make sure they still hurt....stupid right!!!

Nightmanagerfan · 07/03/2018 14:57

@sarahhh1984 thanks that really helps to know it’s not just me! Do you remember how many weeks you felt shattered? I can’t imagine how I’ll manage. I’ve also gone off tea and coffee completely, which is goog for pregnancy, but can’t even rely on the pick me up effect of a cuppa. (I’m also convinced my colleagues will guess I’m pregnant as I’ve gone from about five cups of tea a day to zero... highly suspicious.)

Nightmanagerfan · 07/03/2018 14:59

@mrshulme congratulations! I’m six weeks too. It’s a worrying time but there’s lots of sensible advice on this thread.

MrsHulme · 07/03/2018 15:10

Thanking you! I've had s few people saying to me not to get too excited yet 'just in case' which kinda puts a downer on the whole first pregnancy vibe!!!

bangwhistle · 07/03/2018 15:14

@AriAliyah I literally feel your pain re nips. My two toddlers have this habit of kneeling on them (don't ask!) when they come in for morning cuddles. Ouch!

@MochiBean Everything you describe sounds really normal to me. You're probably hyper aware of it too because you're so anxious. I totally get it - I'm an anxious type myself and think I only manage to keep my mind off it because I have 2 DCs already - one of whom has a birthday on Friday that I've been panic buying for - The Toys R Us sale have been epic for that, although really sad for everyone losing their jobs.

When I was pregnant with my first, I had a huge bleed at 6 weeks and thought I'd miscarried. It was on a Friday and they wouldn't scan me until the following Tuesday and just kept saying that there was nothing they could do. Er, thanks! It was awful - but that little bean is now a charming 4yo. The same thing happened with my second DC but I was much calmer second time because I knew the deal The odds are in your favour. Some Drs are just really tactless and especially with first pregnancies should try and be a little more supportive!

mascaraisamust · 07/03/2018 15:17

Still suffering here with my bad cold. Been in bed pretty much since the weekend. Symptoms are pretty much zero. Trying not to freak out but worried this cold won't have helped. Did poas this morning to check the line has got darker and it has so that reassured me slightly. Got a digital but going to save it until I feel better, I know they are notorious for not getting dates right but as long as I can see the dates have progressed then I'll feel better Confused I think I've resound myself to the fact that I will pay for a private scan at 8 weeks, I'm on cyclogest so it prevents AF, I wouldn't really bleed/spot unless I stop using it. So I've just got to trust that all is progressing I guess! Still such early days...although @slowtango I remember moaning about lack of symptoms with dc1 and bang they all came at 6/7 weeks.

@nightmanagerfan I remember with dc1 the shear tiredness, not looking forward to that again, although the lethargy I've had with this cold is probably the same - just think another 6 weeks I'll you'll be through the worst! I've found my taste is off, but again not sure if that's the cold!

MochiBean · 07/03/2018 15:20

@bangwhistle thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lengthy reply. It really did make me feel better! Good luck to you for the next 9 months xx

sarahhh1984 · 07/03/2018 15:34

@Nightmanagerfan I remember that I started to feel more like myself again at around 10 weeks and then by about 13 weeks the extreme fatigue had more or less gone. It pretty much stayed at bay then until I got to the third trimester. It's not long, but it feels like forever when you're going through it!

I'm slowly going off coffee, but I still love tea so I've had to switch to decaf. I'd forgot how yucky it is compared to proper tea!

MrsHulme · 07/03/2018 15:53

I don't seem to have had a great deal of symptoms as yet. My boobs hurt and I am freakin' shattered, which isn't helped by getting up for work at 4:30 every day. I've got my booking in app on 21st March. Would have been sooner I think but o go to Vegas next week.....

Nightmanagerfan · 07/03/2018 15:59

Thanks @sarahhh1984 having taste tested decaf tea extensively I can report that the two best brands are Yorkshire and M&S. HTH

@mrshulme I really feel for you with such an early start - hope you feel better soon

MrsHulme · 07/03/2018 16:13

@Nightmanagerfan lol. Thank you very much. All the worrying isn't helping either as I keep waking up from about 2am onwards!! Bleurgh!! My brain just needs to stop with the panicking!!!

sarahhh1984 · 07/03/2018 16:24

Thanks @Nightmanagerfan! Last time I relied on Yorkshire Tea, although the Twinings Everyday wasn't bad either. I picked up a pack of Aldi's own brand the other day as it was only 92p. Was expecting it to be rubbish but it's not bad. Just have to brew it for a bit longer but think that's the case with all decaf teas. It's only for another 21 weeks or so anyhow. Last time, once I got into the third trimester, all I seemed to drink were cups of boiled water as it helped with the indigestion! 😂

Clarigirl87 · 07/03/2018 17:14

Have just found out I’m 4 weeks! NHS calculator thinks 8th November. Husband not home til late so trying to keep myself calm at the moment! Really didn’t think it would happen this month but then AF never came and I thought I should check!

MiniMinions · 07/03/2018 18:39

I tend to just by own brand decaf and leave it to brew a bit longer, have stayed on decaf tea since last pregnancy but am enjoying my one full caf coffee in the morning hehe

I'm also shattered - eyes really tired (doing the stingy tired thing) so I expect will be an early night here tonight!!

MiniMinions · 07/03/2018 18:40

Oh and congratulations @Clarigirl87 and @MrsHulme

Clarigirl87 · 07/03/2018 19:14

It was the tiredness that made me do a test! Lots of early nights I think!
