This is my 2nd dc. We weren’t trying so unexpected but I’ve had a feeling something was going on for the last week. Tested this morning and got a BFP.

So it’s DC2 (already have a 4 year old DS)
Due date 5/11/18 I think

My feb 2014 group is fab and I’ve made some lovely friends on there so hoping to do the same this time all being well!

I don't mind the appointment being after 8 weeks, just worried that this is too late to refer and get an appointment. Probably just because I am too excited! It's all I want to talk about and I can't tell anybody yet (apart from dh) Grin

PerrieGrey · 05/03/2018 17:49

@Tyrionsbitch I've been referred to the midwife and was told she would call when I am 11-12 weeks. I keep reading that you should be seen by 10 weeks for sickle cell and thallasaemia testing and have also had this confirmed by a gp who is a close friend. Looks like different areas do things differently. Doesn't really give you peace of mind!

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 05/03/2018 18:48

Hi Smile

BFP this morning. Going to do another tomorrow so DH can be present but it was pretty strong. I think I will be due around 7th - 9th November.

This will be DC2. DS will be 8 by the time I'm due. Only 2nd cycle trying to conceive so am pretty shocked.

DH dad really poorly at moment in ICU so it's a weird time all round.

Congrats to you all Thanks

MochiBean · 05/03/2018 18:57

Congrats to all the new joiners!

I keep getting weird flutters in my tummy this afternoon... like that feeling when you think you are falling. Is that a thing? Ha

Fidgety31 · 05/03/2018 18:58

@Rideforthehills
I’m 42 - geriatric 😂

Nightmanagerfan · 05/03/2018 19:39

Just to update ok self referral. I filled in a form online last Monday and have letters today for my booking in appointment at 8 and a bit weeks, and scan at 12 weeks. For some reason I expected emails but I guess the NHS hasn’t kept up!

sarahhh1984 · 05/03/2018 19:59

I find it so strange how things can vary so much between different parts of the same country.

In Liverpool the policy is early registration. So as soon as you've missed a period you can self refer and your booking in appointment will be ASAP. Mine's on 12 March when I'll be 5+5 and at that appointment the mw will make my 12 week scan appointment and my 16 week appointment (I think you still have that one when it's your second).

The theory is that they earlier you're in the system, the more comprehensive the care they can provide and, if there are problems early on, you can have easy access to support. I can't believe some women are being made to wait until they're 10 weeks to be booked in.

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 05/03/2018 20:11

@sarahhh1984 I'm the other side of the water to you on the Wirral and we have to go to doctor for referral.... weird huh

sarahhh1984 · 05/03/2018 20:16

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer That's bonkers that it's so different and we're so close!

MeredithShepherd · 05/03/2018 20:19

I’m in Lincoln and I had to rig my gp surgery to book in with the midwife. I’m not being booked in until I’ll be 9ish weeks on the 3/4.

wejammin · 05/03/2018 20:51

I had to have an initial midwife appointment to choose my hospital before I could have my booking appointment arranged, so I saw a midwife at 4+4. Still not picked the hospital yet and she's calling me tomorrow to confirm.

I think I'm going to choose the one with the most birthing pools - my other DC were both born in the pool so I'd like to think I'll have the option again.

PerrieGrey · 05/03/2018 20:58

I'm so envious right now if you ladies with early appointments! My anxiety is through the roof knowing that I'll have to wait 12 weeks!

FireworksBaby · 05/03/2018 21:54

I made my appointment today and here we have to wait for 8 weeks, so it's not until mid-April, but at least they let me book it, so I know when I'm going.

I am 38,

WazFlimFlam · 05/03/2018 22:09

I'm 4 weeks and found out this evening. I am 31 and pregnant with my first. Haven't even called the Drs yet!

AriAliyah · 05/03/2018 22:25

4 weeks today! So unbelievably happy! Congrats to you all Flowers

ViviPru · 06/03/2018 11:01

Goodness me so many 2nd and 3rds on this bus! Congratulations to all.

Somewhat unexpected BFP for me this morning, I have a 3yo DD and like you Meredith I could not have been without my Jan 2015 MN bus so here I am.

I'm 38 (39 this month) and we've been NTNP for a few months. I was going to avoid fertile days this month as I wasn't keen on the idea of another winter baby but seems CD10 is danger zone for me! I think my due date is Nov 11th. I can't believe I'm going through all this again!

We're about to embark on a major renovation and extension so I'm going to be a proper Grand Designs cliché...

mascaraisamust · 06/03/2018 11:18

Can I join? Bfp last Wed at 10dpo but after a chemical and having one emc I was cautious. 6 tests later I'm starting to believe it.

This is dc2 for me who is soon to be 2, you think I'd be less anxious the second time round but I'm quite the opposite until I have my scan.

I'm 4+2 and I've got the worst cold, feel so rough. Anyone else? Had a few temps too so I've had to take paracetamol but feel lousy. No symptoms here but I guess it's early days, I had little morning sickness with dc1 so hoping for the same!

WazFlimFlam · 06/03/2018 12:37

@mochibean I also was convinced I had a UTI due to pains yesterday and the day before, but it doesn't seem to have developed into one. So weird. People obsess over signs and symptoms but never mention that.

Claireyskillz · 06/03/2018 13:33

Hi all! First time poster! We got a positive test yesterday, two weeks ish after identifying the "important" day. This is our first. It's going to be a busy year with our wedding in June and a move to military life in September too!
Due date estimated somewhere between 28 Oct / 5 Nov
We told the in laws straight away as we are staying with them this week. Will need to tell work immediately due to the type of job I do... Which makes it impossible to keep secret. Everything crossed we go ok as I know it's so early!

SurfingGiantess · 06/03/2018 13:54

Hi all.
I got my positive result last night after having been snowed in for a week.
My app says I'll be due 2nd Nov.

I'm 32 and this is my third baby.
I have ds (9) and dd (6) so I'm out of practice with all this.
I've had sore boobs from the start, I now eat like a horse and have a full feeling already. I swear my jeans shrunk or I'm eating too much maybe.
I'vehad a mc before so I'm fairly anxious.
I've been getting light pains all day in my lower abdomen. In fact for the past 4 days. I thought my period was finally on the way but got the positive test then.
So now I'm worried cause I can't remember if I've had this before.
Anyway. I'll try think it's normal and not stress too much. Won't get a change to go to the gp till Saturday.
Hope you're all keeping well.

sarahhh1984 · 06/03/2018 14:08

Congratulations to all the new ladies!

I'll be five weeks tomorrow and I swear I look about six months gone! I'm eating so much rubbish. Really need to try to snack on more fruit.

I told one of my best friends today. Also told her early last time as I'm a freelancer and I regularly work with her on projects. She tends to plan quite far ahead so I wanted to make sure she's not including me on projects after late October, but also so she can send any extra work my way in the meantime. Wink So she knows along with my parents, in laws and my and DH's brothers, but I don't think I'll tell anyone else until after my 12 week scan.

MochiBean · 06/03/2018 16:37

@WazFlimFlam I'm glad I'm not the only one! Is so odd... I normally get the feeling around ovulation... so I'm just putting it down to being extra sensitive in that area generally

Fidgety31 · 06/03/2018 16:43

I bought some folic acid today
I’m 4 and half weeks

Does anyone else take anything else ?

WazFlimFlam · 06/03/2018 16:49

Fidgety31 I have been taking folic acid and vitamin D since last autumn. Not sure if you 'have' to take anything else now.

Fidgety31 · 06/03/2018 16:58

@WazFlimFlam I’ve no idea what’s in fashion at the moment for pregnancy!

I don’t have vitamin D though
What does that help with ?
