This is my 2nd dc. We weren’t trying so unexpected but I’ve had a feeling something was going on for the last week. Tested this morning and got a BFP.

So it’s DC2 (already have a 4 year old DS)
Due date 5/11/18 I think

My feb 2014 group is fab and I’ve made some lovely friends on there so hoping to do the same this time all being well!

@Nightmanagerfan Of course! I mean, it's barely even a recipe it's so simple. Just get a big piece of fresh ginger, peel and grate it. Then get an ice cube tray and put a pinch of ginger in each section, top up with water and freeze.

When I feel nauseous I just pop a cube in a mug along with a slice of lemon, pour on some boiling water and leave it for a few minutes to infuse. You could strain it before you drink it if you like, by I just don't drink it all the way to the bottom!

Emelene · 04/03/2018 22:29

@Cupcakesandlove - my GP receptionist was really helpful, it might be worth giving them a call. In my area you self refer on line but only after 6 weeks so I have to hold fire for a week. Smile

MySerenity · 04/03/2018 22:50

Hi- I would like to join too! My first pregnancy- baby is due November 6th (according to NHS website). I'm 28 and whilst we were definitely TTC and this was all planned, we fell pregnant straight away so it hasn't quite sunk it since finding out a few days ago, and it a feels a bit surreal. I even took another test today Blush I am very excited though!

Echoing all those with cramps pains- I've had them on and off the last few days. A kind of pulling feeling and similar to period pains too. Trying not to worry too much though. No other symptoms yet!

Cupcakesandlove · 05/03/2018 07:00

@nightmanagerfan
I wouldnt rate their post natal ward, but from what i heard they are all awful. I have no issues going back to chelsea for a second time. I was actually suppose to go to queen charlottes but we didnt in the end so i would say go closest to home not work if you can.

@emelene
My gp is calling me tomorrow anyway regarding my hgc levels so i will ask then, but i think im holding off till abour 7 weeks if i can but i dont want them to get over booked and then they cant accepct me. Does anyone know how long after self refferal you are contacted?

Cupcakesandlove · 05/03/2018 07:01

@myserenity
Welcome to motherhood!!! Congrats on your bfp. I think everyone on here has had the cramps your experiencing so try to relax z

MochiBean · 05/03/2018 08:05

Has anyone else had a stomach ache at all? I was up all last night and I can still feel it this morning.

It's not period pain... more like when you've eaten the wrong thing... or when you been sick and your tummy feels crampy and empty?

I'm really worried it's going to turn into an MC because it just doesn't feel right (it isn't excruciating but it's noticeable). Can anyone relate/offer words of hope?

Xx

Nightmanagerfan · 05/03/2018 08:54

@sarahhh1984 thanks! that's super easy - I'll give it a go. I absolutely love ginger so hoping that continues.

Re: cramping - I've had lots, as have many women on this thread. It seems to come and go.

I also have had a funny sensation (like straining a muscle in my abdomen) a few times when sitting up - a sharp pain that then disappears. Does anyone know if this is normal?

@mochibean hope your cramps die down soon - I have heard of people having that kind of pain so hopefully it's all a good sign.

toasterstrudle · 05/03/2018 08:59

@MochiBean and @Nightmanagerfan I've had some sharp trapped wind pains when I sit up sometimes. Also had the usual dull period-like cramps on and off.

MochiBean · 05/03/2018 09:25

Thanks @Nightmanagerfan and @toasterstrudle - now it feels almost like a uti pain... but no issues when peeing! (TMI? Haha)

toasterstrudle · 05/03/2018 09:50

Aw @MochiBean that sounds sore, might be worth giving your local early pregnancy unit a call to discuss? Or your midwife service? I haven't registered with mine yet but in Edinburgh we have a number linked to the local hospital.

MiniMinions · 05/03/2018 09:53

Hi @Cupcakes another 7th of Nov due date here!

Oh my am starting to get some nausea so teaching today is going to be fun - might need to try out these ginger cubes. I was lucky last time and wasn't actually sick sick only once or twice so am hoping same again this time!!

Rideforthehills · 05/03/2018 10:15

Hi, just joining Mumsnet today. Its a big day of first -

first time pregnant on first time of trying!

I am actually a bit flummoxed by the whole thing as I am 39 and I had expected many months of trying and failing. Bang we did it first go and now I am struggling to get my head around it!

Any other slightly older first timers on this thread for company?

looking forward to sharing the highs and lows with you all x

toasterstrudle · 05/03/2018 10:18

Congratulations @Rideforthehills! I'm 29 (30 in a few weeks!) but just wanted to say I have lots of lovely friends from my antenatal class with DS, first time mums there were 26, 28, 29 (me), 33, 2x37, 39 and 42! We all get on very well as all in the same boat so don't worry if there aren't any others on the thread (although I'm sure there are!).

NovDoe · 05/03/2018 11:21

@rideforthehills I’m 35 and a first timer. Spent a week feeling like the floor had been pulled from me as we were only kind of trying and I wasn’t sure anything would come of it so was defo surprised!

Cupcakesandlove · 05/03/2018 13:37

@rideforthehills
Welcome. I dont think age matters in this journey, im 27... had my first at 24 but i still need help!!! So im here if you need x

Nightmanagerfan · 05/03/2018 14:00

@rideforthehills I’m 38 and will be 39 when I give birth (all being well) so you’re definitely not the only one!

Rideforthehills · 05/03/2018 14:03

Thanks for all the support folks - I had never worried about my age, I barely thought about it at all, but when it comes to fertility and pregnancy other people seem to like to mention it for me!! Fingers crossed for fun times ahead!

wafflesandpeas · 05/03/2018 15:06

I seem to have a 4 month size baby bump. I have so much bloating!! How on earth am I going to keep this quiet for at least 2 months??

wafflesandpeas · 05/03/2018 15:09

@Rideforthehills I'm 34 nearly 35, so not especially young either. To be honest in my group of mum friends I'm one of the younger ones. This is my second baby.

bangwhistle · 05/03/2018 15:10

@MochiBean I've had a lot of those types of tummy cramps. It's how my body does morning sickness. Try not to worry (easier said than done, I know).

@Rideforthehills this is my third but I am also a geriatric mother at 36. Hand holding for the older mums here. My midwife told me nothing is really different once you're geriatric except I definitely feel more tired, earlier on. Oh gawd... weeks and weeks of this is going be fun!

MochiBean · 05/03/2018 15:27

@bangwhistle thank you so much! You've definitely put my mind at rest... I wa wondering if it might be that as I'm starting to feel like I'm getting a bit nauseous argh

Tyrionsbitch · 05/03/2018 15:58

I rang the docs today to get an appointment/get referred to the midwife team and was told to ring back when I think I am 8 weeks and they will refer me then. This seems late to me - what if there are no appointments when I get to 8 weeks???

MiniMinions · 05/03/2018 16:18

Hi @Rideforthehills - I’m 35 this month so not alone in the 30+ but have got a dc already nearly 3 years old.

Hi @Tyrionsbitch I phoned my drs today and unlike last time where I was given a booking appt there and then they have filled out a form to pass to midwives and will hear next week....

Rideforthehills · 05/03/2018 16:21

@Tyrionsbitch I had a similar thing today when I talked to the midwives. I have to self -refer via the website and no surprise the referral form was not working.

I'm out of the country currently and only get back when I am at an estimated 11 weeks so I def want to know I've got an appointment the minute I get back!

MySerenity · 05/03/2018 16:21

@Cupcakesandlove thank you! The cramps seem to have settled now.

@Tyrionsbitch That does seem late. Mine booked me in for 6 weeks though- which seems too early!
