Hi everyone. How are you all doing?
I had my 20 week scan on friday and everything was perfect. Baby is measuring just a little bit little, but not a concern due to the size of mummy! I managed to stay strong and don't know the gender yet!
I don't think you need to worry about weight gains, my area doesn't weigh after booking app. I've gained 2lb in the last 4 weeks and before that was losing. Still getting daily sickness.

Night, my baby is pretty much always head down, definitely not a concern. At my scan they had to lie me upside down to see the brain because it was so low. Slow movements isn't concerning at the min either. They will have active and quiet times. You should start noticing their pattern by about 24 weeks or so.

That being said my baby is so violent in there! Has anyone's partners felt baby yet? I could feel it kicking really strongly from the outside the other day but by the time dp put his hand on my belly it stopped. Little monkey.

Tasha what's the pain like? I get a lot of cramps like having a stitch down one side. I also get braxton hicks a lot which is like period pains.

TashaKinz · 08/05/2018 07:39

katsanddogs it feels a bit like a stich but right in my pelvis on one side. It only really flares up after I've been out on my feet all day. I've got a small frame so I think it could jus be my body trying to adjust to the additional weight. I've got my midwife app in 3wks so will mention it to her. My friends recommend I do yoga a few times a week to help ease the pain. Have you tried yoga? It could also help with the cramps. I'm just going to have a look on YouTube for some vids to do at home.

My bubbs had a really active period early last week and I managed to get grab my dp in time to feel a kick. But since then he keeps missing them. I wouldn't worry too much as your baby is only getting bigger so if there fairly active now the kicks will probably be stronger after about 28 weeks. Your dp will defo be able to feel then. I read after 28weeks you can start doing a kick count to keep a track of baby's movements.Smile

dinomad · 08/05/2018 08:00

@Katsanddogs my partner keeps being just too late to feel it as well! I'm sure he will once they get stronger and more regular, its nice that he wants to feel it kick :)

HanSpan1 · 08/05/2018 08:10

Currently 23 weeks today! edd 4th Sept,

I feel her kicking every day, but only when im not moving around, so its mInly when in bed or in the car. My DH has felt her a few times, just by placing his hand on my bump.

Im really starting to get back ache now, having to put pillows between my legs when sleeping etc. Fun times!!

Katsanddogs · 08/05/2018 19:22

Tasha I'm a big yoga fan! I've found it's been so good for my back. I do youtube vids too. I always figure my cramps are growing pains.

So nice lots of partners are feeling movements now! I'm not worried at all about movements, my little one doesn't sit still for long- just annoying that it's always still when dp tried to feel 😂. I'm only 21 weeks though.

masia · 09/05/2018 20:01

Hello Everyone! Can I join? I'm 23 weeks today, due date is the 5th of September :-)

It's a girl and everything is going great so far, but I'm a bit worried as she's breech. I know it's early and she can definitely still turn around, but it looks like she just loves to stand in me - I always feel the kicks very low (and during the scan she was also "standing"

PirateWeasel · 10/05/2018 18:16

Hi Masia and everyone! Just wanted to say hi and congrats on all the scans and gender reveals! We had our scan last week and deliberately didn't ask to know, but DH is convinced he saw a little winky 💙 I def didn't tho, so it's prob wishful thinking on his part, lol. He'd love a boy. 21 weeks today and currently dying of heartburn, bleh. Anyone else suffering with the fire within already?! Really hope it's not going to hang about all the way to the end! 😖

NakedMum33and3rd · 10/05/2018 19:57

Hi! I'm 20 weeks today. Got my scan tomorrow. 3rd baby. I have two gorgeous boys already 6 and 4! We are not going to find out the gender. We had a surprise with both our boys so want another surprise. Feeling a bit anxious about tomorrow.
X

Katsanddogs · 10/05/2018 20:34

Masia absolutely don't worry about her position yet! It will change multiple times a day. On all of my scans baby has been head down right in my pelvis making the scans difficult so I'm sure it's going to turn at the last min and be breech! Even though mine is usually head down I still feel the kicks really low, at my last scan it kept kicking it's feet past it's head so yours might be head down at times without you realising!

Pirate I'm really suffering with heartburn and acid reflux too! So painful ☹

Naked good luck tomorrow!

UppityStitch · 11/05/2018 08:16

Hi Everyone and welcome to the new joiners.

21 weeks today and had my scan and on Wednesday. Everything went really well and the lady doing the scan was brilliant. We didn't find out the gender as I didn't want to but DH was desperate. We both regretted it afterwards though. I've got a growth scan in 2 weeks so I'm going to ask then.

SiolGhoraidh · 15/05/2018 13:05

How are you all finding the hot weather? I was so cold in the first trimester that I'm currently really enjoying the heat. It is making me tired though.

I've seen a real surge in activity from the bump recently, with loads of kicks to the bladder and cervix. Nice to know he's awake in there!

Blue25654 · 20/05/2018 10:09

Hi, also got heartburn. Finding the tesco version of rennie tablets helpful and sleeping on a reflux wedge. 23 weeks and still not feeling much movement. LOVING the hotter weather. Have been so miserable in the cold. I wonder if the extra vitamin d is helping because i’ve got a bit more energy.

masia · 21/05/2018 11:27

I'm absolutely loving the hot weather! I've been miserable in the winter, now I'm hot, yes, but being able to wear sandals and loose dresses (i.e. tents... my 24 weeks belly is huge I think) just makes me happy :-)

My hips hurt me sometimes, especially after an active day, but I find pilates helping with that a lot!

Thanks for the reassurance re the position of the baby, I really don't want a C-section, so freaking out a little bit, as I still feel the kicks quite low (I can also feel here turning around from time to time, so that gives me hope)

Do you guys also feel that you can't resist sweets (all the kinds - candy bars, cakes cookies.. I know I shouldn't but I just can't stop..)

Gracey88 · 21/05/2018 21:43

Hi ladies I'm
New to this thread and currently 2- weeks pregnant and due 22 September

Grazek · 02/06/2018 19:05

Hi ladies
Ive just come across this thread, hope you don’t mind me joining :)
This is my 1st pregnancy due 18th September and it’s all so exciting and scary at the same time :)

UppityStitch · 03/06/2018 06:58

Hi @Grazek and @Gracey88.

Just a quick update from me. I had my first growth scan last week and baby is doing well. Slightly bigger than DS who turned out to be 8lbs. I'm a little concerned as it took 2 hours to push him out which resulted in a cone shaped head for a while.

ION we're Team 💙 again, so I'll be a mother of boys. I really expected a DD and was a little upset at first but I'm okay now.

Twinkletoes2018 · 03/06/2018 15:38

Hi sorry for my absence I've just been reading back to see how everyone has been doing I've not been on mumsnet for a few months. Had my first growth scan at 24 weeks and all seems ok although my diabetes might not be too well controlled as baby's tummy is a little bit big I'm having another couple weeks trial and maybe starting insulin to see if it will help. Have been struggling with a heat a bit we've just bought ceiling fans for our bedroom and the nursery! I've been feeling a bit stressed and unprepared for a new arrival as we are in the middle of a house extension which is taking my husbands time so he seems more interested in that than the baby just hoping we can get organised a bit more over the next trimester.

zooz · 06/06/2018 10:04

Hello ladies,

Haven't posted on here since the beginning of pregnancy because we've had a bit of an up and down journey so far but things have been looking good so I thought I'd make an appearance!

24+2 today and due 24th September. Expecting a girl and we have a DS already who is 7.

At our 12 week scan baby had a NT measurement of 4mm and after the combined testing I was given odds of 1 in 49 for Downs. Was immediately offered the Harmony test through the NHS and the following week we got the "all clear" (low risk 1 in 10,000 of all 3 trisomies)

Because of the high NT measurement we were sent for a fetal heart scan at 16 weeks and everything looked good so far. Had another at 20 weeks and again, everything looked great. And we received all good news at our 20 anomaly scan. So we could finally relax a little!

Due to getting HELLP Syndrome in my last pregnancy and having DS at 31 weeks, I'm having growth scans this time round at 28, 32 and 36 weeks. Also having the GTT at 28 weeks because I have PCOS so I'm at a higher risk of diabetes anyway.

I feel like everything is flying by now. The first 20 weeks dragged, probably because I was constantly anxious waiting around for test and scans and results! But since then time have flown. Hope everyone is coping well in this weather lately!

HeatherTess · 12/06/2018 14:30

Hello ladies,

Just been starting to the the 'essentials' list of things to buy ready for over the coming months and wanted some advice from the Mum's out there who have done this before!

Baby clothes.... how much would you recommend to have ready for baby and in what sizes?

I have heard that they grow out of Newborn so quickly that you only need a handful of babygrows to get you through the first week.

I really don't want to go over the top on clothing if the baby isn't going to be in it for very long but don't want to be caught short!

Thanks!

dingdongdigeridoo · 17/06/2018 13:44

Quiet on here lately. Hope it’s because everyone is having straightforward pregnancies and no drama! Other than severe SPD and feeling sick from the humidity, things are ok. I’m feeling gigantic at the moment and lumbering around on crutches doesn’t help my self esteem!

I’m only getting a few newborn bits Heather. My DS was 8lb10 and long legged, so he grew out of newborn in about 2 weeks. I guess it depends if you have a delicate newborn or a big one! You can always dress them in 0-3 and roll up sleeves and cuffs if you run out of clothes.

nightwispa · 05/07/2018 12:56

Hi all, can I ask if any of you have noticed baby moving a bit less in this heat? I'm 29+2 and have had reduced movements since the weekend. Have been to the hospital for monitoring and they're not too concerned but did mention other mums coming in for the same in this weather.

UppityStitch · 06/07/2018 05:39

Hey @nightwispa, I was in the Maternity Assessment Unit on Tuesday night with reduced movement, which I had on and off since Saturday. The midwife thinks it's down to being slightly dehydrated as my wee was quite 'concentrated'. I was monitored, given a slap on the wrist and told to drastically up my water intake. Things have been much better since

nightwispa · 06/07/2018 11:02

Sorry to hear that @UppityStitch- glad things have been better for you. I'm constantly drinking water and doing the same things as previously to get baby to move (reclining on my left side, drinking ice cold water, having something sweet to eat) but apart from the gentlest of movements, I'm not getting the kicks and knocks I did last week :/ the Dr did suggest this could be the baby's new movement pattern but i can't help but worry... I've had a scan and CTG monitoring over three days and I've been told not to worry.

UppityStitch · 06/07/2018 18:43

@nightwispa. Sounds like you're doing all the right things. How many weeks are you now?
I forgot a bit. The midwife I saw told me the baby has turned back to back so that's why I'm getting less kicks. DS1 was the same and stayed that way all the way through. I'm going to start sitting on my yoga ball to help things along

nightwispa · 08/07/2018 09:54

@UppityStitch- 29 weeks currently. I've been monitoring movements at home and things have been a bit better than earlier on in the week. I've been signed off work since Thursday (due to Spd and heat exhaustion) so maybe slowing down myself has helped. I can't wait for this heatwave to pass- I've really struggled so far- I need rain, wind, sleet, snow!
