My scan is in 5 days 😱. I get an internal scan - to measure length of cervix and I assume an abdominal one to date and do nuchal. I think I then get my nuchal translucency risk the same day and will be offered a harmony test if my risk is greater than 1:1000. I think the letter says to expect to be there for a few hours.

No pictures though. Think you take a picture of the screen.

Mrsssmith11 · 21/02/2018 15:59

I don't know if it has changed since I had DD. But my hospital just ask for a donation.

MonaTheMoaner · 21/02/2018 16:21

The last time I had a scan it was £5 for a string of photos. Hope it hasn't gone up too much.

Booked a 16 week gender scan in for the end of March. I want to know as soon as possible to be prepared and bond a little quicker.

Fia256 · 21/02/2018 16:26

Oh gosh mine is clearly an absolute rip off then!! Part of me feels like refusing to pay it but I want a pic! My friends mum works in that dept and last time she said I could have them for free so I'm hoping she's there when I am lol

dingdongdigeridoo · 21/02/2018 17:17

£5 for one, £10 for three at our hospital. Bit off a rip-off considering that it's a tiny photo, but I guess the money goes to the trust.

I just feel sorry for the parents who can't afford the fiver. It's a lot when you're skint.

ShutTheFridgeUp · 21/02/2018 17:52

Thanks for all the kind words. I am utterly thrilled with such a clear scan picture!
Our pictures were £5 each. I don't mind paying as I assume the money gets spent wisely within the trust.
It's all feeling very real now and I'm positively giddy 😁 just told DD that she's going to be a big sister and she has proudly displayed her picture in her bedroom 😍

ShutTheFridgeUp · 21/02/2018 17:54

Congrats on your lovely scan pic dingdong Smile

Zoey36 · 21/02/2018 18:42

Congratulations @dingdongdigeridoo and @fridge! I am loving all these scans! Ours were £3 each but since the machine hasn't been done for the new £1 coins, they were free!

kirinm · 21/02/2018 18:42

My hospital don't offer print outs at all paid or otherwise.

MonaTheMoaner · 21/02/2018 19:32

I hope you get yours for free @Fia256.

Me too! Especially when you think you'd probably get one for free and find them to be so expensive when you don't have the cash. It's not like you can just nip back and get a reprint.

Fia256 · 21/02/2018 20:00

Ahh that's so sweet @ShutTheFridgeUp! My two hounded me today about why my tummy is so big and 7 year old said "I know there's a baby in there your just trying to keep it a secret from us" 😂 Tuesday can't come quick enough now I've almost been rumbled by them!

Tbf, as thick as it is, I didn't even think about the fact the money would go into the trust, which makes it a bit less annoying. But still, the fact ours here seem to be completely over inflated prices is bloody annoying Grin

MonaTheMoaner · 21/02/2018 20:03

I'm officially unwell. It started earlier with extreme tiredness (three naps since 8:30am tiredness) and after walking around Asda doing a shop I started feeling dizzy, faint and a bit sick.

I feel weak and exhausted, I have a headache and I feel so dizzy even laying down. This is fun. Anything going around apart from the flu? God I'm hoping it's not the flu even though I've been vaccinated.

Katjolo · 21/02/2018 20:06

Fab scan pics. Super exciting!

LostMyBaubles · 21/02/2018 20:07

Mona maybe low iron??

Or a little phase during pregnancy

I did go through similar a few weeks ago for about a week when my nausea was at its peak.

If you are worried gwt checked out

CuppaSarah · 21/02/2018 20:07

Congratulations on your beautiful wriggly baby DingDong

I have no idea how much our scan pictures are, but you can pay by card so I assume a few quid.

Fridge that's adorable, she's going to be such a lovely big sister!!

I've been thinking today about how to tell the kids, we're thinking we might get the Easter bunny to tell them, by leaving them the scan picture and some chocolate from the baby, Easter morning. Dd will be furious if it's not a girl, but if the Easter bunny brings her the news and the baby gives her treats she might be ok even if it's a boy. I'd tell them after the scan but dd can't be trusted to keep it a secret so telling her means telling the world and I am not ready for that!

Fia256 · 21/02/2018 20:08

Mona I know flu symptoms type bug are going round. We've all had it in our dept at work! Around 2-3 days of feeling like you've been hit full pelt by the flu but then it clears up so obviously isn't the full flu! Could be that? I wouldn't worry too much esp if you've had the jab. Just rest up and keep fluids down you as much as you can!

Fia256 · 21/02/2018 20:13

Cuppa I have the same problem with my DD. She's been asking for a baby sister for a long time now and doesn't entertain the thought of a baby brother at all 🙈 love the Easter idea! I was thinking about how to do it earlier, I think we might get a little gift bag and put the scan picture in with a little novelty gift or chocolate or something as a hello from their new baby brother or sister. Probably a bit ott but who cares Grin

dingdongdigeridoo · 21/02/2018 20:39

I told DS today. He’s 5, but has autism so it’s hard to get through to him. Bought him an activity book called The New Baby from Amazon which has nice bright pictures, and also showed him the scan. He’s mulling it over at the moment and seems quite happy.

Flamingo84 · 21/02/2018 22:02

Had my scan today at 12+3. And another new due date of 2 Sept! I’m letting myself be excited now I know all is ok. 😀

MonaTheMoaner · 21/02/2018 22:30

@Flamingo84 Love your photo!

Twinkletoes2018 · 22/02/2018 02:10

@LostMyBaubles I was huge last time around too. Someone said in a lift oh when are you due at 20 weeks and she didn't believe me when I said I was only 20 weeks

blondie1001 · 22/02/2018 05:46

Yay congratulations @Flamingo!

kirinm · 22/02/2018 06:50

I've started bleeding quite heavily so am going to go to the EPU. Not feeling very positive at all.

Fia256 · 22/02/2018 07:08

Beautiful scan @Flamingo84

Oh @kirinm not again! I really hope everything is ok and you get seen at the epu quickly Thanks

CuppaSarah · 22/02/2018 07:10

Oh kirin I can't believe this is happening to you. Good luck at the epu, I really, really hope everything is ok.
