Gosh it really is busy everywhere. I didn't know bloods should be before 10 weeks, I'm not getting mine taken till the day before the 12 week scan, and then they'll be taken again for screening on the scan day. I'd like to think they could combine both blood tests but I doubt they'll be able to.

Does anyone know if we can use any type of cough syrup? Or anything we can take for a cough?

Shook2018 · 18/02/2018 14:35

@cuppasarah please let me know if you find anything - everything I've read says "check with pharmacist or doctor"

I'm currently having the worst dry irritating cough, it's so bad I can't sleep and I'm genuinely worried to be hurting the baby or give myself a hernia. The cough is almost making me throw up but there's no mucous or anything to come up, I have no other cold symptoms :( how are you feeling?

jubbablub · 18/02/2018 14:35

@cuppaSarah you can pretty much just have the glycerine, honey and lemon stuff. No actual cough medicine. Even lemsip is out.

Flybynight1 · 18/02/2018 14:39

Cuppa I'm pretty sure the cough syrups which are just glycerin are fine (although arguably not really up to much!) you are probably just as well off making honey and lemon drinks to soothe your throat. And paracetamol. Between last pregnancy and breastfeeding I've been off all the good drugs for 2.5 years, you get used to it!!

Ive got a similiar cough shook but can feel the mucus at the back of my throat and that makes me feel sick

Just got loads of deep cleaning done in the kitchen. After weeks of doing just the basic its had a good clean done today.

Now im knackered lol

HannahJH · 18/02/2018 15:49

I have the mucous throat making me feel sick too :(

Namechangedtoscream · 18/02/2018 15:50

Post nasal drip (the mucous cough) is really common. Keep hydrated, inhale steam and take gaviscon

CuppaSarah · 18/02/2018 17:03

I have some lozenges. They said speak to a pharmacist and she just said as long as I'm not on anything else and don't go crazy with them it's fine. I feel like a new woman!

MonaTheMoaner · 18/02/2018 17:07

I've had no bloods taken and won't be having them until the scan at almost 14 weeks so my results won't be discussed until the 16 week scan.

I'm going to call the ultrasound department tomorrow at the hospital and check I don't need earlier bloods to go with the scan as my midwife who seems lovely is most unhelpful over the phone or text.

Flybynight1 · 18/02/2018 18:14

Mona I had my scan at 13w6 last time with NT and bloods then and the screening was effective (assuming to are talking about that screening?) and the results arrived in the post about a week later. I think they call sooner if the results come back high risk

Mona my bloods and scan happen on the same day and we get the results the same day. I don't know if that happens everywhere but could be the case for you?

CuppaSarah · 18/02/2018 20:43

It's nearly 9 at night and I have such an intense craving for rice and curry sauce and we have none in, so I'm making garam masala and some sauce and rice. Although craving food is a nice change! Why can't it be oven chips!

Namechangedtoscream · 18/02/2018 20:58

Well we've got our names sorted. And no I'm not sharing them!

MonaTheMoaner · 18/02/2018 23:04

That's so exciting @Namechangedtoscream!

@kirinm maybe! I'll double check tomorrow but I'm hoping that's the case.

It's feeling like forever now but in four and a half weeks we've got a private gender scan booked in which is crazy!

Twinkletoes2018 · 18/02/2018 23:23

@RedRobin7 a migraine is a perfectly valid reason to cancel your friend is being unkind and has clearly never had a migraine. I do hope you feel better soon I've been washed out even without a migraine felt so exhausted when I woke up at 7 with my daughter I felt lightheaded and faint. Checked my blood sugars and were fine but I was whacked when my daughter fell asleep at 11am I laid on the bed and didn't wake up till 2.30! My daughter usually only naps for an hour she obviously was exhausted too! Xx

Fia256 · 19/02/2018 00:59

We also have names sorted! Although admittedly we've had them for ages for the future baby Grin

Mona that's exciting! We are also booking in for a private gender scan which will be for just under 5 weeks time now which seems crazy! Can't remember if I've said this now or not but the place we are going to does those gender balloons, so we will add that to the package and then get the kids to pop it once we are home and then send a video to family and friends! Im so excited I've got it all planned out lol

I've woken up tonight with horrible pains. I know it's not pregnancy related as it's right at the top of my stomach. I've had such a bad stomach the last week though, everything had ended up going through me so it's probably just that and I'll now be up for the next few hours till it's gone!!

CuppaSarah · 19/02/2018 09:02

NameChanged Fia I'm very impressed! Dh won't even discuss names till after the scan and even then will shoot down all my awesome ideas. Personally I want Petra for a girl and Leo for a boy. He might consider Petra, maybe, but Leo is a no.

kirinm · 19/02/2018 09:10

I've noticed a remarkable improvement in my nausea. I'm still nauseous but am not throwing up anymore. The pattern has changed too so my nausea is very low key in the morning but then ramps up in the afternoon / evening. I'm hoping this is the start of its decline rather than anything bad. 🤞🏻

Namechangedtoscream · 19/02/2018 09:42

All good at the scan today. Measuring to dates as far as she could tell - it was being a pickle and kept curling up and turning it's back. Been discharged from the recurrent miscarriage clinic to normal ante natal care - bring on the 12 week scan next Wednesday!

Excellent news Names. You must be thrilled.

CuppaSarah · 19/02/2018 10:00

Amazing NameChanged sounds like you have a duper wriggly little one in there! Congratulations on being discharged!!

Namechangedtoscream · 19/02/2018 10:29

I'm ecstatic and want to tell the world but DH wants to wait. Spoilsport

blondie1001 · 19/02/2018 10:32

Yay excellent news @NameChanged! So happy for you xx

MonaTheMoaner · 19/02/2018 11:02

Amazing news @Namechangedtoscream!

Anyone peeing a lot? Not a full bladder either. No other symptoms so not sure if it's a UTI.

kirinm · 19/02/2018 11:04

I am @MonaTheMoaner but it's fairly recent and from what I've read, it's supposed to let up at the end of the first trimester.
