September 2018: #3! Early scans and booking in... it's all getting very real!

For those of us with September 2018 due dates

Red at this gestation they are tiny to measure and some mistakes are made esp at private scans where they are more of a novelty rather than medical
If you are worried speak to epu but all should be ok seeing a heartbeat that early is fantastic

Red the scans are so variable at this stage and the heart rate is strong just you're having a boy

Try not to worry robin. When I had DS I went along for my 12 week scan, but I was only 10+5. I have long and irregular cycles so I must have ovulated early plus got very very sensitive pregnancy tests! It’s quite common at this stage to not know the exact date.

@red I was tracking ovulation using OPKs and temperature so I'm 100% on dates but they've put me 6 days ahead. So I guess it's just not accurate when they are tiny. Don't worry yet. x

Agree, the early scans are not so accurate in terms of sizing and dating but the fact you’ve seen a heartbeat is good! My recurrent miscarriage clinic have now stopped measuring how fast the heartbeat is because apparently this is unreliable but they just want to see if there is one or not.

I've had 3 scans and no1 has measured heartbeat yet.
This is at a leading hosp of excellence (according to website and they are fantastic)

Thanks ladies for the reassurance. I thought the early scan would help me with all the worrying because I had cramping, spotting and I was ill most of January. At least I know it's not ectopic now - that too was a worry. Just the waiting game until my 12 weeks scan... hopefully everything will be okay. Will keep everything crossed!

I'm just having a really bad day. I was supposed to see my friends tonight but because of my migraines leaving me feeling weak and now I'm a little unsure what to think about the scan, I had to cancel. It's the third time I've cancelled recently but the other two times were valid reasons. One of the girls was so horrible saying that she thinks there's more to it than just migraines. Yes there's more to it but I'm not telling her and why aren't my migraines enough to cancel a night? She knows I get them badly and that they always wipe me out. I don't feel like I owe her any explanation! Argh! Sorry rant over! Time to order a gluten free pizza!

Had my scan letter in post today. Got to wait another month 🙈 and I'll be 13w5d on the day! Torturous wait begins now. Really wanted it for the week before so I could tell my parents on mother's day but oh well.

I just got my scan date through. March 7th so 13w6d! Hoping it would have been earlier but another 2.5 weeks to go! 🙌🏼

I’m so lucky, my scan date is 5/3 when I’ll be 12 weeks from LMP but more like 11 + a couple :D Midwife said they’d just rescan I’d necessary but at least I could tell people the news sooner (all being well) xx

Mona no I have mine through, mines on the 27th feb! I'm sure Cuppa is on the same day too, or I know there's definitely someone on here with the same date!

redrobin hope you're feeling ok, sorrh your scan wasn't reassuring. But just to echo what everyone else has said, early scans aren't always accurate for dates. These babies haven't read the manual and don't always do things the way we expect them to either! If it's really stressing you it's definitely worth talking to a midwife about, reassurance is important.

@Fia256 mine is on the 26th so day before.

My 12 week scan is 28th when I'll be 12+3 but I have my last reassurance scan tomorrow at 9. It's all getting very real now!

I feel like I’m going to be waiting ages for mine. It’s not until 16/3 when I’ll be 13 weeks on LMP dates.

I’ve had an early scan, but it’s still hard waiting so long! I just want to know that everything is going to be okay.

My scan is on Tuesday..... when I think I'm 12+1 - haven't had any early scans so both excited and nervous about it .....

Wow - so exciting to see all these scan dates. Can’t wait to see the pics!

I’ve got zero energy at the moment. I dragged myself out to the park with DS yesterday and it nearly killed me (he kept bolting and I had to keep chasing him - not sure what I’ll do when I’m too big to run). I could quite happily just sleep all day!

Glad to hear all the positive news re reassurance scans and 13 week scans! How exciting!

I've not had my booking in appointment yet even, got it Tuesday at 10w3 or thereabouts. Have been on the phone to them already asking them to booking my dating scan in now because I know they are going to take weeks to organise it. They've said no, they need the booking in, but they are so chocker they couldn't see me earlier... I rang them at 6weeks to get my booking in appointment. might start a sweepstake on how late the scan will be! in the meantime feeling utterly shite and very fat!

Flyby I had my booking in at ten weeks and have my scan for just under 13 weeks. Which they wouldn't book till after the booking in appointment. So there's hope! But waiting for it is so crap.

Dh was out for a sleep over with his friend yesterday and of course the kids slept awfully. Despite being shattered from dds party. Dh came home at 9 and I went straight to bed. Only just woke up! And at 11 weeks 3(I think) days, things taste nice again.

That's appalling. My mw phoned in a panic saying I needed bloods doing before 10 weeks and she was going to have to work over and fit me in that day.

Sounds like everyone is having trouble getting appointments. I’ve got to go to a hospital an hours drive away for mine, as my local hospital wouldn’t be able to do it before 14 weeks, by which point they’d be too big for a nuchal test.
