Great news mona. Were you able to see much? I'm going to the EPU tomorrow. Not feeling particularly confident but my anxiety is through the roof so would like to know one way or another.

blondie1001 · 08/02/2018 12:05

Yay great news Mona

CuppaSarah · 08/02/2018 12:14

I just wrote a post and firefox ate it up...anyway congratulations on a great scan and don't worry about being upset, it's ok to be hurt anyone would be.

Glad you're on something Lost it sounds like you really need it, try not to worry about the risks. Being that ill is no good for either of you.

LostMyBaubles · 08/02/2018 13:27

Cuppa thank you. Been posting on the hg threads and one of the posters is a genetist and she had to take it herself and said the most recent study of 60k women showed no links so that's made me feel a little better

Mona that's fantastic! Did baby looked like a bean or more baby like

Kirin Flowers

MonaTheMoaner · 08/02/2018 14:11

Baby looked far more baby like. Saw arms and legs and alien looking eyes in his or her oversized head. Just about heard a heartbeat too but it was faint and inconsistent so they just measured it for me. The photos I have aren't clear at all but you can make out a leg and a head. Hoping for far clearer photos at the dating scan when bub is bigger and my uterus starts coming out of the pelvic bone and tipping forwards again. Just relieved everything is okay but will still be anxious probably until the next scan.

Good luck for tomorrow @kirinm. I'm really rooting for good news for you and @Namechangedtoscream next week. The amount of losses here has been awful and we all deserve healthy babies.

Fia256 · 08/02/2018 14:21

Ahh brilliant news about the scan Mona! I have mine tomorrow and while I feel calmer than I thought I would, I still feel anxious over the fact it's a private one. I don't know why but the idea of getting bad news at a private clinic seems so much worse than if it was at the epu!

LostMyBaubles · 08/02/2018 14:23

Mona oh wow sounds amazing!

Exactly 1 month until my next planned scan

kirinm · 08/02/2018 14:43

@Fia256 that's how I felt presumably because if it is bad news you have to go to the EPU anyway. Is there a reason you're going privately?

MonaTheMoaner · 08/02/2018 14:45

@LostMyBaubles how many weeks are you?

@kirinm how are you feeling? Any bleeding? I'm praying the first thing they say is that there's a heartbeat.

Actually socialised this afternoon. Saw my friends for coffee and lunch which was amazing as I've been in a hole of work, uni and bed for two months now. Considering joining them on a night out tonight and getting a bit glam (for some reason, Thursdays here are super busy) and DH can pick me up after work about half midnight. Kind of thinking I won't last until midnight though as I'm so knackered.

I feel now we're at ten weeks with a heartbeat I can relax a bit more. I know nothing is ever certain but my lack of symptoms hasn't meant anything and all the statistics now say a less than 1% risk. Next thing to worry about - testing at the dating scan. Is anyone here really relaxed or are we all going to be in the same big anxious worry boat until we actually hold our crying bundles?

Fia256 · 08/02/2018 14:54

@kirinm yes I agree and I think at private clinics it's full of baby scan pics etc and obviously pregnant ladies going in for 4d scans etc.

Paying for private as for some reason my epu didn't see the need to re scan after the 6 week scan I had! They said all is fine next one will be the routine one at 12 weeks! But I've lost the last 4 pregnancies, one being second trimester, so I just felt I needed that extra scan to bridge the gap to 12 weeks! It's annoying though as everyone else's epus seem to be much more understanding and helpful!

LostMyBaubles · 08/02/2018 15:04

Fia fx your scan goes smoothly tomorrow

Mona I'm 9+1 today

I fancy crisp but all crisp don't sit right atm so trying to avoid them

kirinm · 08/02/2018 15:25

@Fia256 mind didn't offer me a rescan. But when I saw my midwife (who is linked to the same hospital) she said to go there and they'll rescan given my history.

Mona - no bleeding. I only had a bit of brown discharge and it went within an hour or so and that was on Monday I think? I'm incredibly anxious and think the time has come to just face the scan.

I have promised myself and DP that if the scan goes well tomorrow I will try and relax. At least until the next scan. Mine isn't until 26th Feb so still a while away.

dingdongdigeridoo · 08/02/2018 15:41

Can you get a private scan before your booking in? They are doing some on groupon, but it says to take your hospital notes along which I don’t have yet. Will they turn me away even if I’ve paid my £40? I’d really like the reassurance.

Sals27 · 08/02/2018 15:51

dingdong They didn't even mention hospital notes when I had mine.

Just had my booking in. My midwife is lovely. She kind of assumed that I'd be giving birth in the local hospital and I went along with it but I might want to use the midwife lead unit. Its in the next town but still only 10 miles. She said you have to have your scans where you give birth so I hope I haven't taken away my options. I just thought it was too early to be definite about where you want to go.

Molly54 · 08/02/2018 16:27

Just had my early scan and strong heart beat seen flicking away! Everything looking good. Measuring 8+2 not 7+1 though so I'm further along than I thought which I think is down to my short cycles.

Congrats mona on your scan as well!

MonaTheMoaner · 08/02/2018 17:14

Bring your notes if you have them but if you don't, they won't refuse to scan you. Call and check but ours don't and ask you to bring notes if you're further along.

Lovely news on the scan! Love seeing further along than expected too! My technician said she saw a lady the other day who thought she was 6/7 weeks and was 24! Didn't have a midwife or any scans at all!

Still no date on the scan. Seems to be a backlog here so thinking not until the very end of February or early March for me about 13-14 weeks. I don't know if they do short notice scans but if I get a letter next week then it'll be a week or just over until 12 weeks so doubtful.

MonaTheMoaner · 08/02/2018 17:15

Praying everything is fine @kirinm but until you see it, you are so so anxious. What time is your scan tomorrow?

CuppaSarah · 08/02/2018 17:54

kirin good luck tomorrow! Really hoping we hear good news from you. You deserve to be able to enjoy your pregnancy.

Yay for positive scan news!! Even more yay for being a week ahead.

Am I the only person not having an early scan? Not that I'm not thankful I don't qualify for one! Just a little green eyed over all these beautiful scans. Finally booking in tomorrow, hopefully I'll soon get my scan date through. I know you can get scans at two weeks notice from my hospital, so not too worried. But I just want to see that heartbeat!

kirinm · 08/02/2018 17:57

Thanks. I'm going to head to the EPU first thing but it's a first come first served set up so not sure what time I'll be seen.

maxiflump1 · 08/02/2018 18:02

God luck @kirinm.

Great news of your scan @MonaTheMoaner

@CuppaSarah I haven't had an early scan either. Didn't even know you could have one until I joined this thread but it is tempting...!

Molly54 · 08/02/2018 18:16

Good luck Fia and Kirinm for tomorrow. And anyone else with appointments.

blondie1001 · 08/02/2018 18:28

@CuppaSarah I haven’t had an early scan either - they’re £79-£130 here and I’m too stingy! I’ve got my 12 week scan next Thursday and it can’t come soon enough!

dingdongdigeridoo · 08/02/2018 19:04

Have you checked groupon for scans? They are £39 at my local clinic if you buy a voucher on there.

MonaTheMoaner · 08/02/2018 19:10

I'm stupid with money anxious so I feel the private sonographer is going to see me a lot until I can feel bub start moving. Hoping it'll be around 15/16 weeks like with my last pregnancy as it's a subsequent baby and I know what I'm feeling for but if I have to wait longer I'd be so anxious.

Came back from the GP today with nicotine replacement therapy (16 hour day patch and mouth mist). I love that our smoking cessation is so well supported here as I'm struggling to kick the habit so weekly carbon monoxide check ins and help will aid dramatically. Quit day is officially set for Monday although I'm hoping to do it Saturday first thing so the worst is over by Monday for uni and work.

Just cooked a big chicken korma and rice attempting to be healthy and then devoured a cre egg trifle straight after Blush how healthy are your diets right now or is it anything you can stand?

LostMyBaubles · 08/02/2018 21:25

Not healthy at all

The other day I had 2 Easter eggs, bread with nutella and a pear

Today has been a little better and I've had more fruit than chocolate lol
