Peter Pan well done got powering through, I have my trusty bottle of fizzy water to help me through first lesson and then I feel fine for the rest of the teaching day.

peterpanwendy · 15/01/2018 18:58

@Hettyturnip that's good at least it's passing for you! I find I'm the same, I have my water bottle glued to me and I have sea bands hidden under long sleeves at all times 🙈 would love a day off though and only in week 2.. 😂

TheMildManneredMilitant · 15/01/2018 19:07

I look ridiculous too, it's so embarassing. Also already getting that weird heavy feeling if I try to lie on my back in bed.
Am starting to freak out slightly at the prospect of having 3dc with a large-ish age gap - older ones will be 7 and 9 when this one comes along and getting to the stage where life is just easier and we can have fun holidays etc. Things like family trips to cinema etc will be tricky and that's best case scenario with a good pregnancy, birth and healthy mum/baby. It was planned but it would have been much easier if we had just accepted what we have. Still just have to go with the flow now, eek.

Hettyturnip · 15/01/2018 19:46

Me too, mildmannered. My others are 7 and 4 and we’ve just started having an easier time. We’ve just had to cancel our holiday in August and the older ones are going to have to share a room again.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/01/2018 19:47

@spydie good luck, hope all is okay.

I'm suddenly not bloated anymore since my scan which is making me paranoid but trying not to worry. However I've not tried to get back into my normal jeans or work trousers. Am living in leggings or mat jeans at home and maternity wrap dresses at work. So much more comfy.

BunBunMum · 15/01/2018 19:48

I’m so with you ladies with the tummy - I easily look 4-5 months at certain points of the day! I’m so aware at work so spend half my time sucking my tummy in!

I wondered last night if I could feel that heavy feeling when lying on my back

BunBunMum · 15/01/2018 19:49

Oops posted too soon! I’m only 7+5 so feels too early to be like that in bed....I thought I’d at least get to 12 weeks before I had to change my sleeping position!

BertieBotts · 15/01/2018 19:58

My DS is 9 too Mild - there was a thread in Pregnancy about big age gaps not long ago! I think it's Grumpy who also has a large gap on here :)

YouCantBeSirius · 15/01/2018 20:08

I'll have a 10 year age gap when this baby is born.

Expecto · 15/01/2018 20:14

@Stephiewoo that’s what I meant earlier, I’m feeling “more pregnant” alot sooner this time round and my bump seems to be way bigger than it should be at 9 weeks!!!! Even my sister was asking as she couldn’t believe I was only 9 weeks which has now got me paranoid? Maybe I’m further along than I think I am?

I had HG last time but it kicked in at 14 weeks till around weeks 22 and the only explanation I had for it was that all my organs had been pushed upwards and there was literally no space for food so even he tiniest sip of water would shoot straight back out again....I’ve started getting that feeling already...I almost have to wait for the food to digest fully before I eat something else just so that there’s space

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/01/2018 20:22

Yep I have a dd (from a previous relationship) who is 12 and will be 13 by the time baby is born. Would have loved to have done it before she was 10 (DH has been around since she was 5) however we were not in the right place (financially or in our relationship maturity) until 2016 when we got married & started ttc. Had I known it would take a year to get & stay pregnant (I had a MMC last May) I would have started a lot earlier! Or at least come off the pill earlier.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/01/2018 20:22

Free babysitting and only 1 set of school fees at a time, is the way I'm looking at it!

peterpanwendy · 15/01/2018 20:36

There's a big age gap between me and one of my siblings and I love it! And yes.. free babysitting :)

peanut2017 · 15/01/2018 20:46

Thanks for the new thread. I must have put myself down for July instead of August 🤦‍♀️

Just feel tired all the time and I don't know where the weekend goes. Did get to nap over the weekend which was great.

Went looking at stage two car seats for baby and then trying to think ahead for this baba. It's a bit of a minefield so need to do more research.

Brought baby swimming Saturday morning which was nice.

Was in hospital with baby this morning for a follow up scan on his kidneys (got an infection before) and all was ok which is brilliant.

Went to a baby sensory class then and a walk with a couple of others.

Getting next scan this Thursday so fingers crossed all will be ok. Bit of a tmi but anyone getting sticky / stringy discharge? Definitely remember getting it before

My boss text me Friday about meeting up. The thoughts of it and of trying to say that I won't be working the long hours I used to do. Anyone any advice? Thanks

E2017 · 15/01/2018 21:02

I'm really relieved to see so many people have posted about having to move into maternity jeans and leggings (I know that sounds bad, sorry ladies). My brain is just struggling to understand losing 8kg and no longer fitting into jeans that a week or so ago were ok. I was size 8/10 depending on where I was getting clothes from now my jeans that I never used to have to unbutton or zip, require a hair bobble trick and are still tight. Also (I was kind of horrified) realising that the band on the top of size 8 knickers is now slightly uncomfortable and I've had to buy bigger knickers. Thinking ahead slightly figured the size will go up again I bought size 12's which I've never bought before and they are proper Granny pants (sorry for tmi but Granny pants have never been my knickers of choice). I burst into tears not sure if it was because I wanted to laugh or cry at the expression on my OH's face when he saw them. He looked genuinely horrified...

Stephiewoo · 15/01/2018 21:05

My biggest age gap is 21 years, it's seems all a bit scary, I should be preparing to be a nanna not a mum to a newborn again!

@Expecto @Hettyturnip @TheMildManneredMilitant
That's exactly it on the tummy front, heavy low down weird feeling, lording on my back, and can't lie on my tummy anymore either.

spydie · 15/01/2018 21:07

Thank you Ladies for the well wishes. GP sent me to EPU which is referral only where we are. They didn't think it's pregnancy related thank goodness, and possibly some kind of stomach flu. If I get the severe pain again or any bleeding I'm to go straight back which is reassuring.

@stephiewoo yes yes to the full up top feeling already!!!

BunBunMum · 15/01/2018 21:07

@peanut2017 Hopefully your boss won’t expect the hours you did before. Do you need to mention it? Before DS I worked 9:30am-6:30/7pm now I work 9:15am-4:30pm. I very occasionally work late or in evenings/weekend but do nowhere near what I did before and my boss seems to have accepted I can’t do what I did before. I do feel guilty a lot though! X

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 15/01/2018 21:10

Chicken pox is doing the rounds at school. Luckily not in my year group (yet) but does anyone know what the best course of action is? I’ve read so many conflicting things. Don’t want to put baby at risk but also don’t want to kick up a fuss and not go to work if it’s perfectly safe. I had chicken pox when I was little so assume I’m immune Confused

I haven’t had my booking appointment yet so don’t have a midwife to contact.

Gizzymum · 15/01/2018 21:13

@TheSleeperandTheSpindle I don't know about chicken pox but I had shingles when pregnant last time and there was no concerns about any effect on the baby (I still had it when I gave birth but I was just over the contagious period, but if I'd have been contagious still the baby would have been treated somehow to do with the chicken pox virus).

peanut2017 · 15/01/2018 21:18

@spydie that's great news

BertieBotts · 15/01/2018 21:19

I was asked at booking if I'd had chicken pox and when I said yes they put that I'm immune.

Have you told your boss Sleeper? Maybe they can advise. There might be a policy.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 15/01/2018 21:20

Thanks guys nice to know I'm not the only one facing big age gaps. I know it should be all right in the end!
@spydie that sounds reassuring at least on the pregnancy front although you must want to get to the bottom of it.
I gave in and got some cheap pg jeans/trousers. Didn't seem worth buying normal ones that would only last a couple of weeks.

peanut2017 · 15/01/2018 21:22

@BunBunMum thanks yeah I don't know what to do or if I should bring it up. I used to work 8-6pm minimum and then on email either side of that. It's a very busy role and the company is growing rapidly.

I did try and suss out HR when I was pregnant last time and I asked if I could start early and finish earlier and she basically said that as I manage people that I'd have to be there when they are there which is silly

Makes me sick thinking about it

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 15/01/2018 21:27

Thanks for the advice, will ask the Head tomorrow. She is supportive but a bit of a ‘workaholic robot’ so concerns about the chicken pox probably haven’t even entered her radar!
