@milney25 with my first my belly didn’t really ‘pop’ - as in there was absolutely no hiding the fact I was pregnant - until about 20 weeks. At 12 weeks there’s was just a hint of a bump at certain times. I was always bigger in the evening and flat again in the morning!

RiverRose · 16/01/2018 18:01

Hi Ladies!

Not posted for a few days as no real changes to report. Will be 10 weeks on Thursday and still feeling nauseous in the mornings.

Keep looking at pretty summer dresses that allow for an expanding bump. Didn't actually mind being pregnant in summer last time and the weather was less miserable too than this time of year.

Only downside is missing our summer holiday Grin but for a worthwhile cause!

BunBunMum · 16/01/2018 18:08

@milney25 last time I didn’t tell most of my group at work until I was 14 weeks as that’s when I started to show. This time at 7+6 I feel I’m showing but I was similar before (a nursery teacher at DS’s nursery asked if I was pregnant about 4 months ago) so I think it’s cake 😂

Sugarskulllover · 16/01/2018 18:14

I had a health in pregnancy appointment today and even though I'm overweight my diet is spot on. She's actually told me to start having a mid morning and mid afternoon snack as well as toast for supper to make sure I'm not starving the baby. Told me what exercise I'm safe to do and if I can lose weight a total bonus!

Can't wait for next Thursday now to have my scan and have my official due date!

peterpanwendy · 16/01/2018 19:03

I went to slimming world today and have put on a few lb (in 2 weeks) pretty sure it's partly because I have eaten quite a lot today and didn't wear my usual light clothes! But still it's really disheartening :'(

Also still really struggling with the constant nausea all day. I'm happy that this means baby is growing but I'm finding day to day really hard. I am falling asleep at 8pm most nights!

8 weeks tomorrow (again! 😅)

milney25 · 16/01/2018 19:12

@peterpanwendy well done you for going to slimming world!!

Hettyturnip · 16/01/2018 19:28

I spoke too soon about feeling better. Felt sick most of the day, boobs killing me and a horrendous headache. Paracetamol doesn’t touch it. Tried to speak to my midwife, the midwifery team, go and a nurse today but couldn’t get through to anyone! Does anyone here know if there’s anything they can give me that’s stronger? I had to take today off it was so bad.

peterpanwendy · 16/01/2018 19:54

@milney25 thank you, I'm a long-time slimming worlder. Lost 2.5 stone now down to a size 10-12 but still go to try and maintain. Drives me nuts when I gain more than I think I deserve.

Worried my weight is going to spiral in this pregnancy, it's one of my worst fears about being pregnant 😓

milney25 · 16/01/2018 19:59

@peterpanwendy I've done a lot of weight watchers over the years. There's a slimming world next to my house though. Are they good about having pregnant women attend? If not, I reckon there could be a bit of a niche market there!

I've got the exact same worries about weight gain. I'm already pretty wobbly Blush

Mymo · 16/01/2018 20:04

Hello everyone! Hope you don't mind me jumping on. Late to the party but have been reading along for the past couple of days. Congrats to everyone, it's all starting to sink in now. I'm 10 + 2, 35 yrs and this will be our first baba. Due August 12th I think. Looking forward to the chats over the next few months!

BertieBotts · 16/01/2018 20:08

I don't think I showed until about 5 months last time either! I suppose everything is a bit looser now Blush

Hello and welcome Mymo :)

I think you can do WW/SW while pregnant.

milney25 · 16/01/2018 20:13

Welcome @Mymo!

Thanks @BertieBotts - 5 months, wow. I had no idea it could be that long! Maybe after the 12 week scan I'll buy a book 😱 and read up!

JaneDoe7 · 16/01/2018 20:24

@peterpanwendy - I lost 2 stone in the last year and have already put 10kg back on in the last 6 weeks! I can't stop eating carbs! I am hoping that I can at least wear all my old bigger clothes in place of buying new maternity clothes :)

Gizzymum · 16/01/2018 20:35

@milney25 I'd always assumed the popping they talked about was towards the end of the pregnancy when the abdominals sort of can't hold the bump in any more. I never really popped though as I had a tiny bump. I was telling patients I was going on mat leave and only one had suspected I was pregnant - the rest were shocked! This time round I've looked 4mths pregnant since I had DS 8mths ago as I still had a stone to lose since having him (but bear in mind I barely had a bump at that point last time).

@peterpanwendy I'm a serial weight watcher attendee and had a similar fear last time about losing control of my weight. I weighed every week at home and checked I was within "expected" weight gain. It gave me some reassurance I wasn't turning into a blimp.

@BertieBotts Weight watchers say you shouldn't do it whilst pregnant 😕

peterpanwendy · 16/01/2018 20:43

@milney25 yes they are very good there is a plan to follow when pregnant to limit unnecessary weight gain! I love my group so don't want to leave but equally I don't know what good it's going to do my mental health watching my weight creep up because it's a place where weight gain is a negative if you know what I mean! My leader doesn't even know I'm pregnant yet but I might tell her soon.

@JaneDoe7 I'm the same carbs are all I want! Mainly potato as well! And I've been eating bread at breakfast every day which is something I never ever do especially in the last couple of years on slimming world!

@Gizzymum glad I'm not alone, I think I will do the same, I've been weighing at home since I found out and have only put on 1lb on my scales (which are usually very accurate!) but going to a group you always weigh with a full stomach, in different clothes, and I'm not very regular Blush so I never feel like it's a true reflection! I'd rather just weigh naked at home at the same time each week Grin

Stephiewoo · 16/01/2018 21:24

After DP woke me the other night and I ended up on the sofa I now have the loveliest pregnancy pillow and a super new shiny mattress on order 😃

Hana327 · 16/01/2018 22:00

@milney25 I have the same worry about weight gain! But at the moment I am living off biscuits, cereal and toast which isn't doing the best for diet.
Does anyone have any healthier tips of things you can eat with severe all day sickness?
I'm a bit fussy with food!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 16/01/2018 22:07

Which pregnancy pillow did you order? So hard to pick

somersetsinger · 16/01/2018 22:10

Hana327, my advice for morning sickness (severe or otherwise) would be to do what you can to get through it. You can eat healthily again when you're feeling better. I ate whatever I could keep down last time (mostly beige carbs and coke). This time the morning sickness wasn't so bad but I certainly used food to fix it.

For all the first timers, my experience last time was that morning sickness was by far the worst thing about being pregnant. Once I was through that, nothing was so awful. Hope this helps!

gkeen369 · 16/01/2018 22:11

My hospital actually runs a SlimmingWorld referral scheme so you get 12 weeks worth vouchers if your bmi is above a certain number and it it works well for you, they will give you vouchers to the end of your pregnancy.

butterfly86 · 16/01/2018 22:25

I'm surviving on toast mainly and a few crackers here and there, I do worry as I don't eat meat normally anyway but I can't stomach anything else! I had a bit of mashed potato last night and a few carrots and I threw it all back up...it wasn't pleasant on the way up either so I'll be sticking to toast! I've lost 4.5lb since Sunday the tablets aren't really helping much I'm still feeling sick 24/7 and being sick a few times a day, I have my booking appointment tomorrow so will mention it to the midwife.

amzq87 · 16/01/2018 22:29

Yeah my hospital does the same @gkeen369 - I've been doing slimming world almost two years now and I've lost 6 stone in total. I have a little bit more to go (target was set at another 1 stone 3 pounds) and it was a bittersweet moment to hear the midwife say I was "too skinny(!!!)" for a slimming world referral! Woooo for losing the weight, boooooo for having to pay every week!

I'm still going though as I know I'd put the weight in so easily if I let myself so this is just to help me try and maintain while I'm pregnant. Plus my slimming world consultant is ace and has her own kids plus is a foster carer - she has so much pregnancy advice and knowledge it's great!

amzq87 · 16/01/2018 22:31

@milney25 my consultant at SW gave me a form that my midwife has to sign at each appointment to monitor my weight loss / gain and it's all approved by the RCM so I feel safe carrying on x

Babydreaming · 17/01/2018 06:20

Congratulations to those who’ve lost weight through swimming world!

I kind of have the opposite problem, ive always been underweight and in my last pregnancy I was told I should aim to put on 3 stone and I only managed 2 in the end! I had a small bump though too @gizzymum and I remember I used to blow out my stomach and stand in a way to try and make myself actually look pregnant when I told people!! My bump always measured small. I know this might sound nice to some ppl but I was constantly stressed I was starving my baby. I ate well and healthily and never let myself get hungry but I have always had a small appetite and get full easily. I would just stuff myself everyday with food until I felt sick and do protein shakes to try and put on weight. I had more scans to monitor babies growth which made me really anxious and people used to always comment on my ‘neat bump’ which I knew they meant as a compliment but it made me really self conscious and paranoid about my babies health! He was over 3kg in the end though so a perfectly healthy weight :)

@milney I didn’t show til 6 months last time!! I got married at 20 weeks pregnant and was still in a size 6 wedding dress with a flat stomach! I think the guests were very suspicious whether I was actually pregnant!!

@somersetsinger thanks for the advice. It's really annoyed me reading on the NHS website and pregnancy apps all the good things you should eat or take during these 12 weeks...what about the women who physically cannot eat or take tablets. Makes them feel they are failing.
