@clementineclouds pm'd you again

peterpanwendy · 31/01/2018 20:15

Girls I have the worst sore throat and cough... I need to shift it! Feel like I'm going to be sick because I'm coughing so hard. Any ideas for home remedies?

CumbrianExile · 31/01/2018 20:37

peterpanwendy ole wives tale but it works for me, Vicks on your feet! Should help with the cough at least!

Almostthere15 · 31/01/2018 20:54

Ditto on the cough and I have been sick with it. Im taking paracetamol which i really didnt want to do but it seems a fever is worse for the baby.

Is Vicks safe? I couldn't really get a definitive answer? It does work on the soles of the feet. I used it while breastfeeding.

Firstimer703 · 31/01/2018 20:56

Has anyone thought about maternity clothes yet? My bump is definitely showing and my jeans are starting to dig in so don't think it will be that much longer before I need them. Any tips out there at all?

TheGrumpySquirrel · 31/01/2018 21:05

@Hortonlovesahoo I'm so sorry. I lost a baby at 10 weeks last May, I often think of her. It's such shit luck. Thinking of you

@Gizzymum I hope all is okay, it might be that you aren't quite 10 weeks yet so normal not to find enough fetal DNA.

I got my harmony results this evening. All low risk for the trisonomies and sex chromosome abnormalities so very relieved.

And baby squirrel is a boy! I'm in shock 🙈

E2017 · 31/01/2018 21:08

@Firstimer703 I've been refusing to accept that I need to buy maternity clothes as I'm only a bit over 12 weeks. Bought some tops today that are 2 sizes bigger than I previously was. Guess I'm still in denial despite resorting to the hair bobble trick on my jeans for a little while now. 😳

Gizzymum · 31/01/2018 21:14

@TheGrumpySquirrel the scan said I was 10+2, but based on my calculation (using the date we DTD) is have been 10+1. I'm hoping there just wasn't quite enough fetal DNA but having stupidly googled I know it could be due to a chromosome abnormality 😕. This is more stressful than not having NIPT!!
The place I went to even had someone else's scan report, name and DOB on the screen whilst I had my blood taken which (as I work in the NHS) I thought was awful and when I pointed it out they weren't apologetic at all 😡

Lucylou86 · 31/01/2018 21:14

Got my scan date for the 18th Feb! Super excited! Has anyone else had their scan on a Sunday?

Kiki275 · 31/01/2018 21:22

@Hortonlovesahoo - I'm so sorry to hear that, take care Flowers

@peterpanwendy- Gold old honey, fresh lemon and hot water (shame you can't put a brandy in). It'll soothe and coat your throat - definitely my go to. Opt for manuka honey if you can.

@StephieWoo - WTAF!? Why would someone do that?

peterpanwendy · 31/01/2018 22:13

@Firstimer703 I hated my normal jeans digging in early on so got a pair of under the bump Joni jeans from top shop and they are lovely and sooo comfy!

@CumbrianExile might have to try that thank you!

@TheGrumpySquirrel congrats on finding out baby squirrel is a boy! So exciting

@Kiki275 exactly what I'm drinking now it's revolting but I'm powering through!

clementineclouds · 31/01/2018 22:26

@Peoniesandcats pm me your email address (used for fb) and I'll add you as a member. its a secret group, so not searchable, unless you are in it.

SmashyCup · 31/01/2018 22:31

@clementineclouds I sent you a pm, can you add me please?

SpriteGirl · 31/01/2018 22:32

Scan in the morning. Was freaking out about it earlier on in the week. Seemed for chilled today but I’m back to freaking out about it now.

My husband keeps telling me it’ll be fine he’s not worried. So I said to him what if there’s two heartbeats?!

Well it’s not fair I am the only one freaking out here 😜

misshannah · 01/02/2018 06:10

@Hortonlovesahoo so sorry about your loss.

@Stephiewoo why the hell would somebody do that? Your neighbours are barking!!

@RainbowsAndUnicorns23 hope everything is ok now and glad to hear you got seen quickly! I went back to drs as didn't think my uti had cleared up this week. Turns out I never had a uti and they think baby is irritating my bladder.

Stephiewoo · 01/02/2018 06:30

Thanks all for concern regarding poo!!🙄😂

Neighbour is a bit of an interesting one, many ongoing issues that I've always tried to resolve, I couldn't solve the one of her continuous flirting with my 18 yr old son though!!
So anyway, good old neighbour dispute, re cat poo, I've been accommodating trying to support and rectify it but she's lost the plot now, and after her insulting me over the wall yet again threw open bags of cat poo, one aimed purposefully at my face. I've not had to restrain myself like that since I was a volatile teenager😂
Also 95% sure I'm being made redundant. So rubbish day for sure yesterday.

Hope all are feeling ok, still thinking of the girls who have left in the last few weeks or so. I feel so fortunate xx

Gem173 · 01/02/2018 06:58

@Rainbowsandunicorns23
So glad you were seen and everything seems fine :)
@Squirrel congratulations on a baby boy! So exciting!

Starting to doubt anything is even developing inside of me. Haven’t had scan letter yet but preparing myself for the worst, will have to prepare oh as well. It’s frustrating when you just can’t tell what’s going on!

Firstimer703 · 01/02/2018 08:01

@Hortonlovesawho - sorry for your loss. The same thing happened to my friend who was expecting at the same time as me. Such awful news.

@E2017 @Peterpanwendy thanks for the tips re. maternity clothes! I never thought of using a hair bobble and buying jeans is a nightmare so I'll definitely try those top shop ones!

MissMilliner · 01/02/2018 08:06

Hello all, I hope I'm not too late to join the bus? This is my first DC so everything still a bit bewildering and new, but I've been following the threads the past few days and you all seem so lovely I thought I'd like to join you for the ride 😊

I'm 35 and currently 12+1, due Aug 12, and my NHS scan is tomorrow - very excited!

It was so hard to read about the losses within the group, especially at this stage. I had two chemical pregnancies last year before this one stuck, and I was quite upset by those. I can't even imagine how it must feel to suffer a loss further on ☹️ Hence why I've avoided joining any groups until I reached 12 weeks - I hope it gets a little less nerve wracking after tomorrow!

Lucylou86 · 01/02/2018 08:11

@MissMilliner Welcome, this is also my first! Scary, exciting and confusing all at the same time!
All the best for your scan later, I hope all goes well Smile

Sparklesdontshine · 01/02/2018 08:13

Hi I had to have bloods done as my nuchal fluid result was high on my scan.

Got the results back yesterday and I have a 1 in 6 chance of baby having down syndrome Sad

I am booked in to have the Iona test (same as harmony) tomorow, but I have to pay as my trust doesn't fund it.

Stephiewoo · 01/02/2018 08:39

@Sparklesdontshine Hey lovely, that's concerning news. I'm a firm believer in making informed decisions for the best possible outcome for the whole family. Thinking of you and sending supportive virtual hugs x

SmashyCup · 01/02/2018 08:40

Welcome @MissMilliner, good luck with your scan.

@Sparklesdontshine I hope you get good news, how worrying.

milney25 · 01/02/2018 08:41

@Sparklesdontshine that must be really worrying for you. Did they do blood tests when they measured fluid too?

So frustrating that most NHS trusts don't find a less invasive test.

I'm glad you've managed to get in for your test quickly and hopefully you won't have a long wait for the results. You've got a strong chance of everything being OK.

Frescoed · 01/02/2018 09:15

Horton so sorry about your news Flowers

Stephie sorry about your crap day (in all senses!) - just what you don't need! Hope today is an improvement.

Sparkle I hope you get some more clarity soon and some quick results.

Lovely to hear about all the scans and positive news. Hope everyone with coughs and colds is improving - I must reek of Vicks rub at the moment! I think the soles of your feet thing is a myth, though.
