I think I'd be lost without vimto ice pops

MonaTheMoaner · 27/01/2018 15:28

How was the booking in appointment?

Going out for lunch with DH and DD’s in a minute. Feel so bloated in all my clothes. Managed to put some make up on so I’m hoping I can eat without too much pain.

Booking in a private scan for Monday or Tuesday before my midwife appointment on Wednesday. I’m 8+2 and apart from reassuring pokes to my nipples all other symptoms have subsided so I want to be sure bub is doing fine before I go ahead with the antenatal care. For £55 I’m willing to risk wasting cash for peace of mind at this point.

Anyone else having scans next week?

Sals27 · 27/01/2018 15:41

I'm considering booking a private scan for when I'll be 8 weeks just for reassurance but that would be the week after next. How far in advance did you need to book it mona?

RedRobin7 · 27/01/2018 15:53

Hi ladies,

I'm new to NM and just been watching the thread for a few days wondering whether to post or not.

I'm 5 weeks today and due on 29th September.

This is my first pregnancy and we got pregnant on our 6th cycle. My husband took some convincing that it was time to start a family but he was obviously on board as that's how I ended up here! Since we found out last week he's been very quiet and seems to be avoiding me. I mentioned it and he said his head is a mess as he's worried about what it will be like when the baby arrives. I think I'm being selfish but I'm annoyed that he doesn't realise how scary it is for me just getting to the 12 week mark. We know lots of people who have had a MC so it's all I keep thinking about. I am just leaving him to it as I am not going to let it stress me out.

Anyone else had a similar response from the OH? I just feel like I'm on my own at the moment and I really thought he'd be supporting me.

Terriersandtea · 27/01/2018 17:12

@Caimor23 we just booked a local private clinic that a friend recommended I don’t think they are a chain. Scan went well I’m measuring (8+3) which is only 1 day behind where I thought I was. Really clear heartbeat and a little bud of an arm waving around so I feel a million times better. I would definitely recommend it for peace of mind if you’re a worrier like me.

LostMyBaubles · 27/01/2018 17:32

Sals
My appetite has come back today, not been sick which obv worried me but I did have 1 cyclzine this morning and did feel a little sick at times.

I had a pain au chocolate with nutella on the side for breakfast

Dinner was cheese pasta
And me and dc managed to finish a melon (those small ones size of babies heads lol)
And a pear.

Then had some crisp and popcorn and lots of water inbetween.

Managed to get lots of house work done today.

Redrobin it's all very new to them too. I know it's a worrying time for the mum but I feel it's easier in context that we are going through it and feel more bonded? Might take a little time for him to come round. It's a huge step for the both of you.

Ter

Glad your scan went well! Could you see something more that looked like a baby or was it still more bean like? Our last scan looked like a bean lol at 6+weeks

As sickness isn't that bad today anxiety is kicking in a little.
This morning dtd had me time then showered so think this migjt have something to do with the sickness not kicking in as I've been 'focused' lol

muffyduffster · 27/01/2018 17:43

Hi @RedRobin7
My DH was the same with our daughter, I got pregnant v quickly and he freaked out when he saw a load of parents and newborns in the pub (probably an nct reunion!)
He's the best Dad in the world now, he had 8.5 months to get used to the idea Grin

muffyduffster · 27/01/2018 17:44

I'm going for a scan tomorrow at the EPU Sad had a bit of bleeding for the second time and they've booked me in, which is great, but will have a worrying night tonight. Trying to think positive as no pain or other problems.

Fia256 · 27/01/2018 17:58

Good luck for your scan tomorrow @muffyduffster

I hate to say it, because I really hate it when people say "I had the flu" when it clearly was just a bad cold, but I really do feel like I've got it. Felt fine yesterday, not even a hint of a cold. Today woke up full of it. Then since this afternoon I've been in bed, aching, fever, my hearts thumping etc. Sat at dinner table just now, forced about 3 mouthfuls of rice down me and then felt so weak just from sitting up so I've gone back to bed. I've never felt so rubbish in such a short space of time.

LostMyBaubles · 27/01/2018 18:06

Oh fia it's bloody rubbish

I picked something up off hubby and felt pretty shit

I did think of get it worse but thankfully not been too bad. Plenty of rest, fluids and some paracetamol

LostMyBaubles · 27/01/2018 18:06

Muffy good luck with the scan tomorrow

Caimor23 · 27/01/2018 19:23

@Terriers Ah, great, thanks for the advice. I'm a huuuuge worrier, so I've already booked my appt for Wednesday at a place in New Town. I'm so nervous about it already, and I still have four days to go... But honestly, I think either way, it will give me peace of mind just to know. And it will make it all that more real seeing that it's there (especially if everything is okay).

muffyduffster · 27/01/2018 19:51

Thanks both
@Fia256 flu is the worst! You just feel totally wiped. I was bad enough today with a bit of a snuffle 🤧 definitely miss being able to take myself back to bed in early pregnancy like last time!

MonaTheMoaner · 27/01/2018 20:10

I booked today Sals for Tuesday midday. Have a GP appointment at 10am to discuss fibromyalgia in pregnancy and if all is well at the scan I’ll finally get a little photo and I’ll be able to relax a lot more at the midwife appointment considering the risk drops to 2% after seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks on a scan.

Sals27 · 27/01/2018 20:36

Ah thats great to know. I had no idea about the 2% miscarriage risk. 98% seems like a good possibility to me. Definitely going to get one booked, I've found a place nearby that does them for £40. Money well spent I think!

MonaTheMoaner · 27/01/2018 20:46

It’s odds I’ll take. I’ve seen a heartbeat last Monday but my symptoms have all but disappeared and I really want to start getting excited and relaxing a little to enjoy what will be my last pregnancy with my final baby. Right now I’m a mess because I’m terrified of losing him or her regardless of the fact I know I can’t do anything about it.

DH isn’t happy about the £55 spend. He thinks we should just wait for the twelve week NHS scan but I’m more than happy to go without little luxuries for a week or two in order to see my baby with a strong heartbeat and have a photo of them.

Namechangedtoscream · 27/01/2018 20:49

@monathemoaner I have fibro and went into complete remission when I was pregnant with my 1st. I'm hoping for that outcome again!

MonaTheMoaner · 27/01/2018 22:25

I did with DD1 but with DD2 it amped up with SPD too. Praying the doctor can give me a list of safe exercises and treatments so I can start as I mean to go on Namechangedtoscream. I’m terrified of Fibro with no painkillers. Used cocodamol today for the tooth pain but it won’t be a daily treatment, nor would paracetamol.

81louise · 28/01/2018 02:11

@intelligentPutty I was 6+2 and had a scan Friday We could only see the sack and yolk too. We have to go back in 2 weeks to make sure it is growing. We lost on 13 months ago, so I am panicking and worry warting over it.

Fia256 · 28/01/2018 07:44

Arghhh I've woken up this morning and boobs aren't sore anymore!! That's always been my first sign of miscarriage so now I'm really worrying. Especially as I spent all of yesterday and all through the night with flu like symptoms, fever through the night etc Sad

intelligentPutty · 28/01/2018 08:00

@81louise it's horrible feeling isn't it.
My husband says he can see how I've changed. I'm just hardening myself up for it to be be bad news at next scan. BUT.... most everything I read says that's it's not bad or unexpected and it's just too early.
We'll see. I'll be thinking of you. When is your next scan?
What was your gynaecologist like? Did they seem concerned at all? Not that it means anything. But when it was clear at my last second scan they were good' about not giving me any hope it would be ok.

PumpkinPatch000 · 28/01/2018 08:37

Good Morning All,

Did anyone else get a random due date from their doctor? My periods are irregular and she just took the date of my last period, asked me what due date i thought and said it could be that date or the next day as my due date.

I would have thought she would have at least taken the average of my recorded cycles (5-6) and then calculated it... it pushes the date out another 3 days if you do or taken into consideration the ovulation test i did but she just seemed to randomly pick a date.

I know it's never 100% accurate but her non caring, couldn't be bothered approach seemed odd.

PumpkinPatch000 · 28/01/2018 08:39

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you @fia256 i hope everything is okay.

CuppaSarah · 28/01/2018 08:50

Fia I haven't felt pregnant while ill at all, the ill feelings kind of overpower pregnancy feelings. Now I'm mostly better my boobs are sore and I feel sick again.

Sorry peoples scans weren't as reassuring as they'd hoped. When you go back hopefully things will be much clearer. 'Poor' dh has the bug now. I'm struggling to find sympathy. You'd think he was the only person to scrounge up dinner after work the way he was. Plus every time a sickness bug appears, I go round disinfecting EVERYTHING. Usually it never spreads beyond one person, did he bother with my strict disinfectant schedule? Nope! So it's his own fault. Since falling pregnant I have no patience, I'm such a cowbag right now.

On a weird note, dh says I smell pregnant and is glued to me. Does anyone else apparently smell pregnant? Confused

CuppaSarah · 28/01/2018 08:52

Pumpkin I was irregular with my first two babies, they went by my last period which meant my '12 week' scan was at 6 weeks with dd and 10 with ds. It just means you get an extra scan if the days are out.
