So the scan didn't go well.
It's in the right place (not in tubes etc). There's a sac and yolk. But no baby. No fucking baby!!
She reckons 'oh it's quite normal at this early stage ' I need to go back in 10-14 days.
My lovely husband (bless him). Think's this is ok. He believes her. I don't. I can't cope with this. I really hoped this would be it.

I'm sorry you've had a less than reassuring scan @intelligentPutty but around the same sort of time I was warned that they wouldn't necessarily expect to see much and doubted they'd see an embryo which they said was completely normal.

I am so so sorry @intelliputty I can't imagine how you are feeling.

@kirinm I understand. I fell pregnant 2 weeks into a new job and not sure how to tell them. I need some time off as I'm exhausted

kingy good news on your scan intellegentputty don't fret. If you're under 6 weeks that is a normal scan. My first one this time round was the same 2nd scan at 7+1 lo and behold one baby with a lovely heartbeat. It's easy to say don't worry but i do know how you feel.

Not great news from me. Had scan just now and am certain of my dates- I’m 6+1. Saw heartbeat but was only measuring 5+1 according to sonographer. I have to go back next Friday for a rescan. They think a leaking cyst may be causing the bleeding.

I'll try not to worry. And stop googling. I think I just need to put this all out of my mind and go for next scan in 10days and see what happens.
I'm 6+1. But I suppose i could be less....

It just doesn’t make sense, how can they date me at 5+1 when there’s a heartbeat?

Line sometimes when they are that small dates aren't 100% accurate

And thankfully a week later saw baby with heartbeat

Yup 5+2 and thought I was around 6weeks.

I was put back on an early scan when I thought I was 6 weeks but they said only 5. I cried. There was a heartbeat and everything.

Went back Monday ten days later and the baby is measuring at 7 weeks! They said the baby is so small the measurements can be off by quite a lot so if there’s a heartbeat, please try to be positive for a little bit because so much changes in size over such little time between now and the rescan.

Here I am saying to be positive and I’m here agonising because my nausea has gone. None yesterday. None today. I was sick this morning from heartburn type pain but not from general nausea. Nipples are still sore and no bleeding but booking in for a private scan next week before my midwife appointment on Wednesday just to make sure.

Mona I'm exactly the same!! Yesterday and today absolutely no sickness. Only the vary odd slight wave which I actually think is in my head more than anything! Before yesterday I felt sick all day and couldn't eat anything so it seems a complete contrast and is worrying me. I've been squeezing my boobs all day to check they are still sore!

Thanks for all your reassurance. It’s so hard not to overanalyse everything isn’t it? Symptoms come and go, being sick is a good sign mona!

@Lineeye try not to worry too much, as others have said, a heartbeat is good and dates are hardly ever correct at such an early scan! I wouldn't be surprised if your next one, you jump back up to where you thought you should be!

@intelligentPutty sorry you've not had a very reassuring scan. I know I'd be the same worrying and not believing what they've told you, but fx it's just a case of it's too early and not clear enough and your follow up will show the baby!

Hi Ladies, if it helps with DS I had an early scan at 6+ weeks and there was a heartbeat but they put me back just over a week. I had a scan a week later at 7+ weeks and he had grown but I was still behind. By my 12 Week Scan they put me ahead

Ooh, I posted in the September thread in Pregnancy earlier but just found this one too. Hi everyone, hope you're all doing OK. Had a positive test this morning, I think I'm 5 weeks today and very much in the shocked / nervous / tentatively excited stage!

Thank you both! This will be our second baby, DS is nearly 3.

I’m feeling quite negative today and I don’t know why. Just suddenly very anxious about everything that could go wrong. I’m 9 weeks today, going for the Harmony and 10 week scan at the FMC next Saturday. Add to that the fact that I’ve had a very long week at work and would normally be cracking open the wine right now!

Nixen I’ve been thinking of the Harmony test but it may well be out of my budget. Will your scan and blood test be on the same day as part of the package?

Mona yep, I got the package so it’s
Viability scan and blood test at 10 weeks
Nuchal scan and harmony results at 12 weeks
They did say that if the results come back ‘high risk’ for anything, they’ll call me before I go back at 12 weeks. So I’ll be anxiously wishing for the phone not to ring.
We can also find out the gender, which will be exciting!
