Fab news on the scans today!

Flybynight1 · 22/01/2018 12:12

Wonderfully positive news on today's scans! Let's keep that positivity flowing!

Says me who is in a totally low mood. Even my colleagues are noticing 😒 Doesn't help it is annual appraisal week and I'm pretty sure I've just written myself out of a job let alone a bonus...! Do one hormones!!!!

MonaTheMoaner · 22/01/2018 12:15

Oh no! What’s happened?

Flybynight1 · 22/01/2018 12:34

Mona just far too much negative self reflection and my sleep deprived brain isn't letting me recall positive things...! Roll on August (fingers crossed) and the start of maternity leave!! Haha

Paranormalbouquet · 22/01/2018 12:44

I can’t get excited yet as haven’t had a scan. But even if it’s fine it’s going to be high risk and high stress with a high chance of second trimester loss/prematurity. Just hoping a get a stitch quickly and that it works!

blondie1001 · 22/01/2018 12:45

Anyone else wanna (over)share their most glamorous thing about being pregnant? Mine is if I retch (which is happening a lot right now) when I need the loo I pee myself a bit. That's after one kid - I dread to think what my pelvic floor will be like after this one Blush

Paranormalbouquet · 22/01/2018 13:03

I have a lovely spotty back, shoulders and chest.

LostMyBaubles · 22/01/2018 13:14

Mona I'm on that and honestly it's a life saver
I'm a completely different person to last week!
I can do things again as I'm not being sick.
1x3 a day I tried to just have 2 but Defo need the 3.

We have a quinny Buzz that's 8yrs old.
Fantastic lil pram.
Will be getting hubby to jet wash the frame down properly.
It needs a hood.
If we are having a girl will try and buy a pink seat for it. Cost me a lot back in the day

Will be buying carseat with adaptors to just stick on to the frame.

I'm excited and nervous.
More nervous after yesterday's scan I think but still excited

Fia256 · 22/01/2018 13:25

I have my bugaboo cameleon from before and have still got the cot we had for both dc so expensive things are already sorted luckily for us!

Does anyone find it annoying when people give it the whole "your not ill your pregnant". We went out on sat night and I was exhausted and felt very nauseas and my friend said it to me. Then my work colleague has just jokingly said it too. Yes, I am pregnant, but I also feel like absolute shit. Which feels just as bad as if I was ill. It really annoys me sometimes. Doesn't matter what the cause it, I still feel ill!!

Secondsop · 22/01/2018 13:33

I can’t get too excited yet but my mum and my husband’s parents are excited. (I had to tell my mum as my 5-year-old blurted it out to her. At least he doesn’t feel unhealthily hampered by secrets I GUESS). Mum wants to buy the pram. I passed on everything to my sister and she is still using my uppababy Cruz (bloody fantastic pram) but as she is expecting no.2 may move to my oyster double buggy. She has done VERY well out of me having children first.

Afternoon everyone. Congrats everyone on the happy scans!! Grin

I left work early today as for some reason I couldn't face being there. Luckily it's an office of 2 and my boss is ill.

We have a denim Mamas & Papas Sola 2 travel system. It's a teeny bit masculine but we're using it either way. I'm reusing all of DSs old clothes where I can. The only things on my list are a new steriliser kit, a baby carrier and maybe an electric breast pump. The biggest job may be swapping the nursery and the spare (bigger) bedroom round but we're undecided

LostMyBaubles · 22/01/2018 14:43

Fia but some of the symptoms make us ill
So Yh they will prob moan when they are pregnant!

I forgot about the cot lol
Cot is up still in the box room.

That's also nearly 8yrs old
Needs a good clean maybe a lick of paint.
Might change the mattress? I dunno yet . The mattress itself is in very good condition and had waterproof bedding over it. What do you think?

LostMyBaubles · 22/01/2018 14:46

I'm planning on 100% breastfeeding this time and I'm not going to rush it.
No bottles/ sterilizer etc here

With eldest he would come out with rash and I had surgery so mum was feeding him bottles

With middle one I was very ill again and exhausted

With youngest (13 month gap) I just didn't get the time to sit and do it.

This time round all being well baby is due when they go back to school. Youngest will be full time and I will have all the school hours to bond with baby properly and feed as and when needed

TheBlindspot · 22/01/2018 14:59

I'd like to breastfeed this time too @LostMyBaubles. I really struggled with DD, (bad milk delay due to PPH and then a silent refluxer) but hopefully this one will take to it better! It's hard going though. I ended up mix feeding last time, and expressing for six months was not fun. No way am I doing that again!

Sals27 · 22/01/2018 15:01

Tbf, I have been dishing out the "I'm pregnant not ill" line to my DP and my sister.

But then I don't feel ill so maybe I'd have a different mindset if I did. My sister especially is treating me like I'm made of glass and its driving me mad. Its putting me off telling others as I know ILs and my mum will be the same. And I'm worried about people treating me as if I'm less capable at work.

LostMyBaubles · 22/01/2018 15:07

Theblindspot do pph effect supply?? I always pph and never really put the 2 together my supply is always crap.

I'm on my first uti (of many) and on anti sickness meds as I couldn't move due to vomiting and nausea.
The past week or so I've felt like shit and looked worse lol

Thankfully today the antibiotics seem to be kicking in and the anti sickness is doing it's job.

I think Having an easier pregnancy (e.g. illness free) helps with the mindset of pregnant not sick.
I have terrible times mainly due to my kidney problems that kick off more during pregnancy

TheBlindspot · 22/01/2018 15:08

That saying is so subjective. In my last pregnancy I didn't have a whiff of nausea. At all. I was just a bit tired and felt fine. My friend on the other hand suffered with HG and was hospitalised four times in her first trimester.

I'd say she was pretty ill! I wasn't. We were both pregnant.

Saying 'you're pregnant not ill' to someone who is clearly feeling terrible is horrible and I'd be inclined to tell whoever said it to piss off! On the other hand if you're fine and people are getting on your nerves with the fussing it's a good saying to use to make them stop Grin

TheBlindspot · 22/01/2018 15:10

@LostMyBaubles yes they do. I lost 2l with DD and they didn't give me a blood transfusion (I've no idea why). Your body needs to replenish and heal before it'll start producing anything extra - like milk for example. I had nothing except about 1ml a day of colustrum for well over a week. By the time it arrived, getting DD latched was nigh on impossible.

MonaTheMoaner · 22/01/2018 15:27

Reading all of this I realise I have to buy everything from scratch again. Browsing Mothercare online via the app and the only travel system I like is £400! Might be looking second hand! 😮

Namechangedtoscream · 22/01/2018 15:28

Same here mona. When I last bought a pram £400 was the high end stuff now you're parting with the best part of £1k!!

MonaTheMoaner · 22/01/2018 15:37

Namechangedtoscream I think I paid about £180 for DC’s travel systems. Granted they didn’t have the rear facing pushchair option or the lay flat pram attachment which I now like but it seems a hell of a jump in price for something decent looking and gender neutral in a nice grey.

I’m planning on breastfeeding too. Breastfed both DC’s for 2-3 months before I began supplementing with formula and then a month later they were entirely on formula. Hoping to do it for at least 6 months this time.

CuppaSarah · 22/01/2018 16:12

I'm going to need a new travel system as ours is a bit rickety after 5 years of abuse. But I'll buy secondhand, I try and eco shop/spend as little as possible already starting to get ideas of the base prices for systems second hand so I can spot bargains once we're past 12 weeks.

I'm hoping to breastfeed again, I managed 9 months with dd and 7 weeks with ds, but an awful cough/cold killed my supply. The link between pph surprises me, as I bled a lot and was anaemic to start with, but my supply with ds was ridiculous at first. Maybe it was a side effect of some of my meds? I did also hand expressed every 1-2 hours and gave it to ds, so it might have boosted supply. But he had such a horrible time getting out of me, I figured he needed to get his blood sugars up, so went for overfeeding. Shame it all went to pot at 7 weeks though!

muffyduffster · 22/01/2018 16:18

My sister is passing her double buggy onto me, love my travel system and it's only 13 months old but isn't a convertible one Hmm should've thought of that!
I'm planning on ebf for at least 6 months again, I had to stop at about 8 months with DD after I went away for a few days and it stopped my supply. I found it so inconvenient in the night having to make a bottle before she was night-weaned! I'm so lazy!

bitzy12 · 22/01/2018 16:26

I have absolutely nothing left after 2 dcs. I sell everything which I now regret. So we are starting a fresh. However this time around I'm only buying the very minimal of what we need. I do want a cosatto travel system though :-)

MonaTheMoaner · 22/01/2018 16:28

I’m going to buy as much second hand as possible too because we’re not exactly well off. We’re comfortable enough to afford a car and the house but luxury money will now be baby money.

Is the advice still that second hand veins and cots are fine as long as there are new mattresses? Second hand car seats are still a no in case they’ve been involved in an accident?

I’m hoping once baby is here it’ll be like riding a bike Grin
