Hmmmm tough one!
I hate housework AND shopping......but reckon you should (for research purposes) go and try on one of those maxi dresses.
I am 5'4 and have been wondering about them myself but have a fear of looking like a cross between Mama Cass and Rene Russos (sp? the big fella who sang in the 70's)
So go try one on at least and then we'll know!!!

bumperlicious · 29/04/2007 12:02

Ok, I'm off - for research purposes only you understand!

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 12:05

LOL Bumper.....its like us and names...DH loves the name Maisie...he just hasn't realised it yet

Yeah, that was us.....(talk about a long and complicated history)....maybe so...but he's one of the strong silent types who doesn't talk a lot about feelings etc. He also broods about things for ever such a long time, wheraas I'm a blow up in your face type and once its out it's gone....we have such a great time dealing with emotional issues.

Anyway, the peace has sort of been made and the boys are off out to collect a blind I ordered for DS room and some shopping (if he doesn't bring back either chocolate or flowers or even better, both, I will be cross all over again

It was Dennis Rousos, DKMA....Renee Rousso is the actress who was in Casino and Get Shorty, LOL.

I'm 5'2" as well and stood next to a rail of dresses in DP yesterday. The whole thing from strap to hem was longer than I am tall.....think if I wore one at the moment I'd look like a tea-cosy

OP posts:
Daisybump · 29/04/2007 12:07

LOL at the perverted old men in macs DKMA...my DH said pretty much the same thing.....I'm more your hairy trucker myself

Is anyone else having trouble typing or is it just me....if I don't preview before I post, sometimes I've written utter garbage...wrong words as well as crap spelling.....maybe I need more omega3 in my system.

I know your brain actually does shrink in pregnancy, by as much as 5%....is it a cumulative thing or does it recover in between babies. The way my spelling and short term memory are, I'm thinking its cumulative.....Foxy......?

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 29/04/2007 12:23

PMSL at DENNIS Rousos
DKMAFME when it comes to 70's singers either!

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 12:29

Your just too young to remember him....but me on the other hand

OP posts:
foxybrown · 29/04/2007 13:48

huh? whot?

foxybrown · 29/04/2007 13:49

I've a fiver for anyone who can convince me that the male of the species has a purpose other than inseminating and funding.

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 13:59

And they often don't do either of those things particulary well...Ha Ha

Sent mine off to the shops with a list of things...he went to Aldi (which I hate..all the fruit and veg will be rotten by tomorrow). I asked him for toilet cleaner and bleach...he didn't get the tolet cleaner. I asked him for Fairy washing powder (my poor delicate skin comes up in hives and DS gets nasty excema with anything else), and he buys Persil...what's the difference he says, its all non-bio...when as long as he's known me I've only ever used Fairy. He even had to go to a different shop for it....which he realised when he saw that Aldi only really do their own brand..muppet

And...the most cardinal sin of all, he didn't get me any chocolate . The flowers I can forgive, but the chocolate....

God, I hate men with a vengeance today...he's now in the loft, and if he isn't getting the exercise ball there'll be hell to pay....I've only been asking him for two months [humph emoticon}

OP posts:
Daisybump · 29/04/2007 14:06

To be fair to mine...he does do looking after DS very well.....I've never felt I couldn't trust him to do that, even when DS was small and he only saw him one weekend in three....
...I just can't stay angry at him, can I?

bumperlicious · 29/04/2007 14:07

Ok, so today I have learned that 5'2" heavily pg woman + maxi dress = teepee! Seriously, boy scouts could've camped under it. So I'm resolved to buy post pg clothes post pg, plus it'll give me the opportunity to show off my new baby in my new Quinny!

Trip wasn't entirely wasted. Jones the bootmaker was having massive sale due to refit and I got some patent pink peep toe shoes reduced from £75 to £10! Yes you rad it correctly - £10! Do I steal H&A's bargain hunter queen crown for the day or what?!

bumperlicious · 29/04/2007 14:09

Softy Daisy! Listen Daisy, how far away is Darlington from Leeds? Is it a feasible journey for a cup of coffee and cake meet up?

derlor · 29/04/2007 14:09

dear god i just spent over a hour catching up on just over 2 days!!!! new thread needed soon i see..
Way too much chat to even remember what was being chatted about - why did i even bother to catch up i wonder i've forgotton it all already!!
except someone asked my advice re folmula bottles and bacteria - professional answer BOLLOCKS!!!! as long as you make bottles up with boiling water then allow to cool you can store them for 24 hours - media hype as usual. also you can safely store expressed breast milk for 7 days in the fridge then freeze for 3 months. express by hand!!!! i am trained to teach this but again - BOLLOCKS - get a pump (whispers ...can teach hand expression technique but never actually got it to work myself sshhhhhh)
oh and pre natal contraceptive advice post natal -YES!!!!- always discuss this at 1st HV visit (10 days or so) you'd be amazed at the no. of women who are pg again at the 6 week check!!!! asking "how did that happen?!?!?!!?" dooouh. i'm not going to need contraception for at least 6 months - but that is just me!!!!baby show was shite - NO freebies except 3 nappies and 2 very small packets of baby wipes. LOTS of very gullible 1st time parents spending a fortune though on shite they will never use - i am SO grumpy today so sorry about that.
have been having MAJOR fanjo pain for past 24 hours EVERY time i stand up - so not amused hence the grumpiness.
sorry this is too long a conversation with myself now so i'm off - back to grump later....x

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 14:12

PMSL at the image of you with all those boy scouts.....

So of your shoes.....I used to live near an outlet which sold mainly Jones, Churches etc and used to get some great bargains...I really miss that place . My shoe collection is looking a bit jaded at the moment...feel the need for a splurge, but will wait till after LO is born....I can't imagine getting my swollen porkers into anything nice at the moment.

OP posts:
bumperlicious · 29/04/2007 14:15

I know, I've seen a number of threads on here saying "I'm pg before 6 weeks check" Do you really even want to, you know, do it by then? Aren't you just so knackered? Ok, and while we are(n't) on the subject (but you can usually rely on me to bring it up!) to those of you with sprogs already, having sex after a baby - does it feel different? Or is that just a really stupid question? Been bugging me for a while, but I know I can rel on you guys for a straight answer!

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 14:17

Bumper...it's two stops on the train, about an hour....but we could meet up in York which is about halfway, and has lots of lovely cafes and shops

OP posts:
Daisybump · 29/04/2007 14:21

I can't imagine having sex ever again...never mind being pg before six weeks is out (I didn't have sex for 2.5 years after DS, LOL). Anyway , DH says it doesn't feel any different..but not sure whether he's just being polite or not.

OP posts:
Daisybump · 29/04/2007 14:24

I should add that it doesn't feel any different for me...just more rushed as there is always the chance that you might be disturbed...esp in the mornings, but that can add to the excitement

OP posts:
derlor · 29/04/2007 14:25

i don't remember what it felt like before ds - nealry 8 years ago so can't say whether or not it feels any different - i don't think so though. - too late to worry about that now anyway!!!
yeah i'm ALWAYS ed by pg girls at 6 week check - when do they even find the time????? never mind the inclination?!?!

bumperlicious · 29/04/2007 14:28

That would be fab. I don't actually live there but my dad does and first week of my mat leave I'm going to visit him (something like the 16-19th May) on the Thursday and Friday he'll be working and I thought seeing as I will be roughly in the area it would be cool to meet up. It's a couple of weeks away, so see how you are going by then but we can pencil it in if you fancy it. York sounds fab. A meet up will be a bit scary though - what if you think I'm desperately dull in rl?! What if you turn out to actually be big hairy Brian who wears socks and sandals and has a thing for pg ladies?

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 14:29

Derlor....thanks for the advice re bottles...common sense says it'll be OK.

I could never hand express either, and used to get really squirmy when my HV tried to show me..eeeuuuch (no offence intended)

Hope your grumpiness passess....and that it was just all that walking around at the baby show that's aused the fanjo pain. Feet up, kettle on for you my lady

Talking of which...I'm off for a cuppa then an afternoon nap..and to go and check up on what DH is doing upstairs involving buckets of water.....could he be cleaning things

OP posts:
bumperlicious · 29/04/2007 14:31

Foxy - are you just lurking at the moment? I think you may be keeping your fiver!

derlor · 29/04/2007 14:34

yeah hand expressing makes me go yeugh too...i NEVER show anyone that doesn't ask and i use a balloon - not my boob!! it always works for woman i demonstrate to and they then find it easy but i just can't and wouldn't do it personally. - how i got my job i'll never know!!!

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 14:34

PMSL Bumper......I'll make the effort and shave especially for you, and if you're really lucky I'll leave the socks at home....even though they cover up my unsightly gnarly yellow toenails

That'd be great, and I'm sure you're just as lovely, funny, mad etc as ont'interweb.
We were meant to be going to Scotland on the 19th, but given how things have been this week, not sure we'll be making that journey....but York will be OK. We'll sort it out nearer the time. My e-mail is daisybump at yahoo dot co dot uk.

Right, tea time.
