sorry BZ, personally I don't do intelligent conversation, but am good to listen to rant about your DH (my specialist subject, incase you were unaware!)

Daisy, given last weeks events I'm kinda siding with your DH (strike me down!), we don't want any June babies too early! Although Holly's idea is very cunning and rather clever ... start gathering together the decorating bits ... see if that 'motivates' him!

BadZelda · 30/04/2007 10:32

Kiddes decide themselves what to call the grandparents I think. My grandmother has always been known by her name 'kitty' to everyone in the family - but DD obviously felt this was rather informal on our visit and insisted on addressing her as 'great grandma kitty' whenever she spoke to her. My mum is just 'grandma' to her, which took my mum some getting used to ;)

Can you tell I REALLY can't be arsed to work today?

hollyandalice · 30/04/2007 10:33

My dp is away til wed too daisy! We can be lonely together! I was going to strip the wallpaper in our bedroom whilst he's away!

Daisybump · 30/04/2007 10:33

DS went through a stage of calling us by our names rather than mummy and daddy which was really funny. I got some odd looks in JS one day when I told him I wouldn't respond unless he called me mummy....I think people thought I'd abducted him or something......No chance...he would've been given straight back if I had

OP posts:
foxybrown · 30/04/2007 10:36

mine are doing that too! usually to get my attention when I'm on here.

I agree with BZ, they do decide what to call their grandparents - also depends if they have cousins and what they call them. We have Grandpa and Nana XXX for mine, and Grandad and Nana XXX for the ILs. My mum wanted just to be Nana, my MIL wanted to be Nana. My mum hates that they use her name too, but thats the way it goes.

Daisybump · 30/04/2007 10:38

it wouldn't work Foxy...he's completely oblivious to hints....he goes through life incredibly blinkered...well he must do if he never notices that he's missed the toilet...again

Really though, as he's only around at weekends, I feel he should be spending quality time with DS rather than chores, whihc is why our house is the total bombsite that it is.

But, he did get the exercise ball from the loft for me and spent an hour looking for the pump last night. So, had a bit of a bounce watching telly last night and apart from feeling slightly queasy after my 2 glasses of wine, my pelvis feels marvellous today!

Oh and ella often calls me 'aunty mummy' for some reason.

Daisybump · 30/04/2007 10:40

My mum is gran to all of her grandchildren apart from DS.....he pointed to a picture of her when he was 9 mo old and said Nana....she's been Nana to him ever since. She used to say she hated it and would rather be plain old gran, but secretly I think she loves the fact that he has a special name for her

OP posts:
foxybrown · 30/04/2007 10:41

Aunty Mummy, that's funny.

My DD called her aunty "bloody Aunty XXX" the other day. to her face

Daisy, it must be incredibly frustrating - I do all the hard graft at home, and I'd be going mad if I had to take it easy (am only 31 weeks fgs!) but your body has given you a warning shot, and I'm afraid I'm going to have to insist you take notice of it.

I have yet to have one, but when I do it'll be tools down.

foxybrown · 30/04/2007 10:42

bossy? moi?

Daisybump · 30/04/2007 10:42

We need a new thread soon ladies.....

Due in June and feel like a hot air balloon!.....?

OP posts:
Daisybump · 30/04/2007 10:45

I'm scared now (whimpers into the corner...)
That's the rub though Foxy...I feel supersonic today and as if I could climb mountains.....but as DH so rightly said (and I know he makes sense)..."it's how you'll feel tomorrow that I'm concerned about".

Daisybump · 30/04/2007 10:46

Anyhoo...the sun is shining, so I'm off to at least buy the paint and then take it from there.....later dudes!!

LOL at "aunty mummy" BadZ
Thanks to MIL DD often calls me "Mummy Sputnik", I mean does MIL think DD has some other mummy and might get confused?

sputnik · 30/04/2007 10:53

Daisy, just wanted to back up Foxy, don't go overboard with the decorating please

How about Due in June.... or have I swallowed a ballon?

BadZelda · 30/04/2007 10:55

How about 'due in june - I'm going to start charging you rent soon you little fucker'

ok maybe not

Trying to find out what documentation I need to send with form Mat B1...but the phone number doesn't work grrr

sputnik · 30/04/2007 11:01

LOL, that gets my vote.
Seeing we got aggro for shit though perhaps we should put some **s in there

hollyandalice · 30/04/2007 11:04

I've just put a pic of my dd reclining in my birth pool on my profile! She thinks it's hers! I am now deflating it ready for when I need it (god I'm shitting myself)!

My dp wasn't keen on the home water birth idea at first, but now he is really excited! He sat in it with me yesterday and was going on about how great it is. He has come up with some strange ideas though! He thinks dd should be here whilst lo is being born so she feels part of it, but I think she'll be a bit scared with me making odd noises and ignoring her! I think he's a bit of a hippy at heart!

sputnik · 30/04/2007 11:11

Aww that's cute H&A.
Personally I wouldn't have my DD anywhere near the birth. She got upset when I cut my knee and is still talking about it a month later!
Your DP is a hippy, last week it was chickens, next week he'll be talking about eating the placenta or something, ewwww

hollyandalice · 30/04/2007 11:14

He is a bit of a weirdo, but I think eating the placenta would be a step too far! He hasn't taken to wearing ponchos yet, but that is always a possibility!

hollyandalice · 30/04/2007 11:15

Can you imagine eating something that came out of your own body? Bleugh! I can't even stomach meat!

foxybrown · 30/04/2007 11:16

ah, bless her! The pool looks great btw. In which room will you have the baby?

British Gas have reduced me to tears. Am currently on hold waiting to find out when they engineer I've booked hasn't turned up. Seems they didn't book one their end. No hot water since thurs. Have scared the shit out of DP by phoning him up hysterically at work [oops!]

foxybrown · 30/04/2007 11:18

as opposed to swallowing something from someone else's body?

Euuwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, sorry have lowered the tone

hollyandalice · 30/04/2007 11:22

That's really shit foxy! You poor thing. I would cry too, whenever I get really angry I cry. I bet you feel like punching someone. Hope you get through soon. Write them a letter of complaint once it is sorted out, I would. I do it all the time and it always gets great grovelling responses.

I am going to have the pool in the dining room as it is at the back of the house. It would be nicer in the living room, but we don't have curtains, only slatted blinds and I would be concerned about people seeing in. Not for my sake, you understand, but for theirs!

hollyandalice · 30/04/2007 11:24

Ewww...you minger!! I suppose that's how oral prostaglandins work though!
