I don't know whether I've caught the bug that's going around or if my 'morning sickness' has taken a turn for the worse. Seems totally different to what it did 2 days ago. Barely moved or did anything other than sleep yesterday and I've already thrown up this morning. Seriously panicking about going back to work :'( I'm 8+3 today

Aspergallus · 02/01/2018 11:17

Peterpanwendy beginning to wonder if I am going to manage work like this too. Never needed time off during pregnancy before.

Lphil93 · 02/01/2018 11:25

HELP. I am waiting for my first appointment with my midwife but since last night I am getting sharp shooting pains in my stomach??!! Anyone else had the same? Is it normal?

badb · 02/01/2018 11:34

Happy New Year everybody. Sorry to see some of you are suffering badly with nausea. I don't really have any - if I'm hungry I feel a bit queasy, but that might just be in my head. So. Much. Bloating though. At bedtime I feel like I look about five months pregnant. Also, my skin has gone really bad - angry, sore spots on my cheeks particularly. It's so annoying - I never suffered from spots even as a teenager, so I'm struggling a bit with it. I had it on my first pregnancy too, but I can't remember when/if it eased up. Where's this bloody glow?

I am bloody knackered as well. Badblet (2) managed to climb out of her cot over Christmas so we had to take the side off and turn it into a cot bed. She was never a good sleeper - rarely sleeps through, and every second or third night will wake at around 2 and will take two hours to settle back - but it's been non-stop waking since the change. I actually don't know how I'm going to cope with a baby if her sleep doesn't improve. I think I've probably had about 10 full nights sleep since she was born - nights away for weddings and so on, and two glorious nights on my own a few months ago on a work trip. I feel utterly worn down.

Scan on Monday.

Gizzymum · 02/01/2018 11:44

@Lphil93 is hard to say. It will depend how severe (are you doubled over in pain?) and where (uterus is prob below the pubic bone or just slightly above at the moment) so if higher up it could be trapped wind/slower digestion or something similar? If it's towards the sides it could be just ligaments stretching etc. If no bleeding try not to worry, but if it gets worse or you are doubled over in pain (or just for reassurance) call your GP or 111 for advice.

DazedDal678 · 02/01/2018 12:18

Hi everyone, do you have a Facebook group? I had a baby in September just gone and my FB mumnets group was my lifeline. My SIL is now pregnant and I'd love for her to have what I had but she doesn't have Mumsnet! Any help would be great :) congratulations to you all!! X

LadesC · 02/01/2018 12:19

@Aspergallus i really sympathise. Just had scan which shows 7 wks ish with heartbeat. Epau prescribed me cyclizine as im feeling so bad. Feel maybe a teeny bit more human and fancied some maccys fries.

badb · 02/01/2018 12:24

Lphil, when I was 9 weeks last time, I had an episode of unbelievable pain - sharp, shooting pains across my tummy, above the belly button. I was doubled over, I thought I was going to be sick, we were close to jumping in the car and driving to the EPU. It did turn out to be trapped wind, in the end. Passed (ahem) after thirty minutes or so. I suffered from it throughout, though not as bad as that again. But just to show that trapped wind can be extremely painful and frightening, even though it's ultimately harmless. Round ligament pain is also a contender at this stage. Definitely give your GP a call to set your mind at ease.

Aspergallus · 02/01/2018 12:53

Thanks LadesC. This is not a good day. Now got terrible diarrhoea too. Hoping this is just some sort of big hormonal adjustment and not the shape of things to come for a geriatric pregnancy.

Nearly had a meltdown after having a strong urge to eat yoghurt, a spontaneous feeling that it is the only thing that will make me feel better, and finding the DC ate 2 pots each at lunch leaving none.

Emmasmum2013 · 02/01/2018 13:51

@DazedDal678
Can your sister not sign up to mumsnet? I think we veto'd the idea of an FB group last week.

Emmasmum2013 · 02/01/2018 13:52

7 weeks today. Nausea is doing my head in.
Last time it lasted until about 14 weeks and then vanished. 7 weeks to go then....

Eloisa123 · 02/01/2018 14:36

Happy new year all!
Aspergallus - you are so not geriatric as I'm 44 and will be 45 at my EDD! So count yourself a spring chicken!
I had my first at 41 and didn't get any special treatment then - I asked why I wasn't high-risk and the mw said that was about other factors and health issues, not age. Haven't seen the mw yet, so don't know whether it will be different at my age now.
7 weeks now and only mild nausea now and then. Trying to get an early scan too as I'll be away weeks 11 to 13.
Thinking of all suffering severe nausea - must be horrible.
Lphil93 - I had some of those shooting pains too so know exactly what you mean. But they passed quite quickly so not too worried.

Aspergallus · 02/01/2018 14:53

Thanks Eloisa123. That's good to know. Have had a look at the high risk/consultant led care stuff and it's really just my age -I'll be a month off 42 at term. Perhaps with two previous uneventful pregnancies no one will bat an eyelid.

DH agrees I haven't been this ill, this early, previously. I think he's hoping it is age, he'd be horrified by a multiple.

E2017 · 02/01/2018 15:20

Due to continued bleeding I've got to have another scan tomorrow. Absolutely petrified that somethings gone wrong. 🙁

milney25 · 02/01/2018 15:32

@E2017 sorry to hear you've still got bleeding. Thinking positive thoughts for you, let us know how you get on. Thanks

SmashyCup · 02/01/2018 15:34

@Emmasmum2013 I think some people weee open to a fb group, but a little later on. It's much easier to follow several threads of conversation at once on fb and has worked brilliantly with my last bus.

Finally got some cyclizine from the GP. Hoping it kicks in soon. Had to stay off work today which is annoying. DS is back at nursery and I've been in bed all day, but have so much to do!

SmashyCup · 02/01/2018 15:34

*were, not weee! Grin

milney25 · 02/01/2018 15:36

I'd be up for a Facebook group later on. I find it really frustrating not to be able to search on the group!

SmashyCup · 02/01/2018 15:41

@E2017 so sorry to hear that. Hoping for good news and reassurance for you tomorrow.

Eloisa123 · 02/01/2018 15:48

E2017, thinking of you, that must be so stressful to go through...

Aspergallus - I just looked at the criteria of high-risk and yes it does say 40+. Maybe different areas interpret that differently - where I live, Brighton, there are so many older mums 40+ is not a rarity at all.

SpriteGirl · 02/01/2018 15:50

Been called back in for another blood test tomorrow as the original ones showed my iron a bit low so they want to check my iron again. Might explain why I am faint and breathless.

Could fall asleep right now at my desk.

E2017 fingers crossed for you x

SmashyCup · 02/01/2018 16:01

@Eloisa123 that's true, it's not at all unusual these days. The youngest in my antenatal class of firsr time mothers was 33, most were late 30s/ early 40s.

@Aspergallus I've also had diarrhoea. Yuk! My GP didn't seem concerned though so hoping it's normal and will pass.

YouCantBeSirius · 02/01/2018 16:10

I'm 9+5 today and feel bloody dreadful. Constant nausea and on/off vomiting so I've spent most of today in bed.

WeAllShine · 02/01/2018 17:03

E2017 thinking of you, hope everything is ok. I’m also going back in tomorrow as still bleeding on and off.

I’d be up for a FB group a bit later on too (positive thinking and all that!)

butterfly86 · 02/01/2018 17:06

E2017 fingers crossed everything is ok tomorrow. I also have a scan tomorrow as last week they thought I was earlier than I thought so there wasn't a heartbeat I've been spotting brown I can't even call it spotting it's more bits of brown mucus sorry tmi. Not feeling very positive myself.
