Slept ok last night. DH got up with the baby at 6 and left me in bed. Kept waking up on and off. DH came in around 8 holding baby away from him. Did a massive poo. All over him. Was all discombobulated bit had to kill class into a poo cleaning ninja.

Put baby in the bath as there was so much 💩

Delighted though as baby gets very constipated and is on movicol but hasn't been working. DH gave him a ready made cow and gate bottle as we need to get formula and think that helped.

It has worked before but never to that degree.

Still amazes me how much I talk about someone's else's poo and pee 😲

Hi all, been gone for a while as I've been so busy with Christmas etc...

My last labour was fairly eventful. Got diagnosed with cholostatus at 39 weeks and had to be induced the next day. I was dilated 2cm when I arrived but didn't feel any pain at all. Then the day after that at about 11pm I was 8cm, rushed to the delivery suit and had him at 2.45am. I only had gas and air as it was too late for anything else. He also came out back to back with his arm up which caused a 3rd degree tear so had to have surgery straight afterwards. My postnatal care was terrible but I won't go in to that now.

I have to say that the labour was the easiest part, getting through the horrid newborn days was 100 times worse for me. Also, please don't worry if you don't immediately fall in love with your baby, it will come. Many people I know took time to truly love their baby so don't put pressure on yourself if you don't, it's very normal.

I know it's very early days but the next few months will fly by.

For peeps struggling with nausea i def recommend getting meds. I feel at least able to funxtion now and even went out for dinner last nite. Off to a kids bday party now but has to stop at tesco n buy emergency snacks for me as felt hungry n queasy. Dr pepper and crackers dipped in tzatziki r ace! Also braving ikea after the party!

Gem173 · 07/01/2018 10:44

Love how all of us aren’t knackered and slept funny. I did do the pillow trick it was alright but i sleep on my back and so I succumbed for my desire for being on my back and fell asleep that way. But that’s after being on the sofa for two hours awake being told to come to bed so getting into bed then 30 mins of tryin to get comfy in bed. No nausea today just weeing like a champ! First Doctors appt tomorrow hopefully I will get a scan date !xx mothers in law text me this morning asking how Twinkle was and if I’m alright. So that was nice. Oh got up at 7 to be able to get up early tomorrow for work and I come into the living room and he’s flat out asleep. So plan A didn’t work lol hope everyone has a nice day planned out.

Gem173 · 07/01/2018 10:47

Are knackered*

peterpanwendy · 07/01/2018 11:08

@Gizzymum mine did, one day it was very mild and cured when I ate and the next I couldn't leave my bed because I was so poorly!

I second what @LadesC said, I got meds and can function like a normal human again! Good luck in IKEA, get yourself a pregnancy pillow they're £7!

Gizzymum · 07/01/2018 11:30

@peterpanwendy will they give you meds even if it's just nausea and not vomiting? I've also been feeling really hot so wonder if it is a bug (or does that happen too with morning sickness?).

To make things even better, DS is in a bit of a grumpy teething mood and has also found a new favourite thing of screeching as loud as he can. 🙉 I keep just passing him over to DH (and hope I feel better tomorrow).

Aspergallus · 07/01/2018 13:03

I got meds. Yesterday was just awful, ended up retching so hard my (copious) saliva was blood streaked.

Had a read of the Royal College of Obstetricians guidance on NVP (Nausea and/or vomiting of pregnancy) and HG which strongly recommends all women with NVP are offered anti-emetics. They list the safe ones, and luckily I had one of these in the cupboard (prochlorperazine aka Stemetil):

"A Cochrane review5 and other systematic reviews and meta-analyses34–36 and birth registry data36 have reported on the safety and efficacy of many antiemetics for use in NVP and HG, with no increased risk of teratogenesis or other adverse pregnancy outcomes. These drugs include: antihistamines (histamine H1 receptor antagonists) such as promethazine, cyclizine, cinnarizine, doxylamine37 and dimenhydrinate; phenothiazines including prochlorperazine, chlorpromazine and perphenazine; and dopamine antagonists including metoclopramide38 and domperidone."

Full guideline here is anyone wants to read it:

www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/guidelines/green-top-guidelines/gtg69-hyperemesis.pdf

Have taken it regularly last night, this am, and feeling a good bit better. Not my usual self by any means, but I'm coping. No retching, the awful bloating seems to have diminished and I feel like I could eat a little more normally.

Have sent DH out for cinnarizine as well as that's over the counter and I only have a little stemetil here. I do plan to go to the GP tomorrow though, still worried about being so sick, so early, at my age and the whole thing being so different to previous pregnancies.

Sorry that I'm not quite keeping up with everyone else. Everything is a bit of a struggle!

Eloisa123 · 07/01/2018 13:32

Aspergallus, so glad the meds seem to be working. Your symptoms sound unbelievably tough so thinking of you (and others going through the same).

Stephiewoo · 07/01/2018 13:37

Urghhhhh. Slept well last night then up with DD at 7:30 so not bad. Then found I had fallen asleep mid PJ Masks and that was me until 12. Dog snuggling me, DP did amazing with the little one as did DS. DP and I only been together 10 months but he's fab, food on tap, drinks at the ready. He's fab.
However waking up brings such huge anxiety, not sure what about to be honest, probably everything right now. Still in my PJs as well. Routine kicks in again tomorrow thank goodness hopefully that will help.

Hope you lovely ladies are having a fab weekend 😊☀️

Emh30 · 07/01/2018 14:31

Hi,

Can I join please. Got a positive just before Christmas and think I’m due end of August some time. By my calculations I’m about 7 weeks. This will be my second child, I already have a 2 year old daughter. Feeling ok so far although had clearly forgotten how totally exhausting these first few weeks are

Pollyp87 · 07/01/2018 15:31

@emh30 same as me - I was 7 weeks on Friday. My last AF was 17th November. I’m due 28th August according to calculators ☺️

Emh30 · 07/01/2018 16:20

@pollyp87 Ah that’s probably the same date as me. We weren’t trying as such just more seeing if I’d get pregnant so I wasn’t paying so much attention to dates. My daughter was due on the 29th November 2015 and ended up 2 weeks late. Hoping I’ll not be holding on so long this time as I’ll hooefully be having another section.

Pollyp87 · 07/01/2018 16:30

We weren’t trying, it was a surprise when I got a positive test on Xmas week! First thing I did was work out the dates so I knew how long we had to save and for my DP to move! This is my first so I’m completely new to all this. I feel like a complete amateur already.

Emh30 · 07/01/2018 16:48

Ah it’s all fine really @pollyp87 I felt exactly the same first time round. Still not entirely sure I’m adult enough to be having two children.

Kiki275 · 07/01/2018 16:51

Welcome @pollyp87, what a lovely xmas present! I reckon you'll probably be saving for at least the next 18yrs, or trying to at least :) x

Pollyp87 · 07/01/2018 17:04

@kiki haha I know right! I went back to live with my parents a couple of times after moving out though, so might be closer to 30 years...! Thankfully when I bought my house I was lucky enough to be able to do it over a short term so only have 15 years left on the mortgage.

@emh I definitely don’t feel adult enough, I’m grtting there slowly though I think. I think everything will start to sink in and feel more real after the scan. We haven’t told anyone else at all and have now agreed we won’t until after the scan, and I think even after that we aren’t going to be doing one of though tell everyone one on Facebook jobbies! Massive part of me wants to tell everyone though as I’d started to get the ‘oh, do you not want kids then?’ Questions already (despite only being 30) Hmm

Gem173 · 07/01/2018 17:58

Starting to get a funny tummy :( 6 weeks 5 days in.

Gem173 · 07/01/2018 17:58

And welcome @PollyP87
Hope you have a smooth 9 months x

amzq87 · 07/01/2018 18:12

@Gem173 my funny tummy hit at 6+1 - not let up yet but I have learnt better how to manage it. Eating little and often and making sure I eat as soon as I get up (never used to have breakfast before!)

@Pollyp87 I got so much grief from family about kids and I'm 30 too - not close family, more like cousins and aunts/uncles - latest one was my Uncle telling me that my DFIL "would really like grandkids you know" at my sisters wedding. We had been trying for quite a while by this point and so it took me all my restraint not to snap at him.

I suppose like my DH says, it has to be right for us, not for them. Although I'm happy they seem to be over the moon about the impending arrival, you shouldn't do it to please anyone else x

Gem173 · 07/01/2018 18:21

@amzq87
How long did it take for your funny tummy to turn into ms/other end business. Would like to try be prepared.
Had some white bread on its own and felt okay for 2 mins then funny stomach came back straight after.

amzq87 · 07/01/2018 19:28

Probably a couple of days later I was sick for the first time - I found that white bread made me feel worse but I haven't always got on with it so probably just me. These days, I feel better with fruit and veg honestly. I think it's probably quite a personal thing though x

MamOfFrankie · 07/01/2018 19:29

Evening all, am 8 weeks today (due 19th August) and I am with you on the nausea! No actual vomming, but I am back to work tomorrow and already dreading it! Don't know how I am going to make it through the days with no naps.

peterpanwendy · 07/01/2018 19:34

I bought sea bands from Amazon and really think they're working. I took them off and within an hour felt awful. Put them back on and I feel ok again. They're going to be hard to hide at work so will just have to wear them when I can.
I have a scan next Saturday (10 weeks) so if all is well I will tell work then and then I can wear them to my hearts content!

Pollyp87 · 07/01/2018 19:59

I’ve just had my first proper food aversion. Chocolate, well chocolate ice cream 😩 sat in the cinema tucking into my ice cream, the chocolate made me want to throw up! Still feel sick now.

@amz people are rude, they don’t stop and think before they open their mouths at all these days, especially relatives. My sister has 2 and my mum was so overbearing with her, nobody was allowed to buy clothes or anything until she was really far along.
