Having a downer day today. Unfortunately I am one of life's worriers and I just keep convincing myself something is wrong. Probably just an over nervous first timer as I wouldn't say I have any reason to feel that way, I'm just an over-thinker + hormones I reckon.

Can't seem to shake the memory of my friend going for her 12 week scan a year ago to be told the baby had died, a missed miscarriage. I genuinely just don't know how I would cope.

I know it's just some anxiety but I'm hoping just venting will help a bit so sorry for downloading to you guys!

I hope everyone has a nice restful weekend as I'm now planning to do x

E2017 · 06/01/2018 17:27

@Hana327 welcome back. Anti sickness stuff has stopped working all together now seemingly. Last night was the first of this run of 7 nightshifts for me and I really struggled to function. Even basic tasks like washing my hair are pretty much reducing me to tears. Husband is wanting me to call in sick to work and he might get his way tonight as I haven't managed to hold down food or water for over 24h. I called hospital this morning before I went to bed and they said give the anti sickness stuff till this evening to see if there was an improvement if not then I have to go to hospital to be checked over. Really worried that my lack of being able to keep anything down is going to affect the health of the little life inside me. 🙁

milney25 · 06/01/2018 17:36

Hi @amzq87 I think most is us have vented a bit of anxiety! When's your scan? We have pretty close EDDs, my scan is 19th Jan.

StrawberryLemonade · 06/01/2018 17:38

E2017 do not go to work! You need rest. If you’re anything like me my sickness is worse when tired too. Sounds like you need to see someone and get your urine dipped to check you’re not too dehydrated.

amzq I think we probably all have that fear. I do even though I had an 8 week scan last week it doesn’t guarantee anything. Just have to hope. Sending a supportive hug!

Aspergallus I totally agree that this one might be a girl for you! I already think I’m having another girl as I feel the same as my previous pregnancy. We won’t find out though I loved having a surprise.

Sorry to those I haven’t replied to - the thread had moved to a new page on my phone now I can’t read back while typing!

amzq87 · 06/01/2018 17:46

@milney25 haven't had my scan date yet - I'm expecting a letter any time between now and this coming Friday. Can't wait for a date now really but I think it should be around the same week as yours :-) I'll put the date up when I find out.

Thanks so much for the support guys - hoping it will settle soon :-) x

amzq87 · 06/01/2018 17:47

@E2017 I think I wouldn't go in either. You and bump definitely come first. I know we all feel pressure to go in, even when we're poorly normally but I definitely wouldn't blame you for staying at home x

Hana327 · 06/01/2018 17:53

@E2017 I have the exact same worries as you! You read about all the things u need to eat, drink and take vitamins wise but that's no help when u can't keep anything down!

I went to the Drs after I hadn't kept anything down and she said straight away I wouldn't make it to work and she wrote me a Drs note! I thought I would be able to but in hindsight I was completely wrong. I can't get by day to day let alone work. Showering is a nightmare which I now do sitting down. Work haven't had much choice but to sort it. At the end of the day Mummy and baby are more important!

Eloisa123 · 06/01/2018 18:48

So sorry to read about all these awful nausea experiences - to all those suffering, please take loads of rest and stay off work!
I'm almost 8 weeks and only had mild nausea which comes and goes so feel lucky in that respect (unless it means the pregnancy isn't progressing well).
Polly - hi and don't worry about the birth. You have loads of options and choices to help you feel more in control about things.

butterfly86 · 06/01/2018 19:59

I was anxious this morning as I didn't feel sick when I first woke up, but it has came back later in the day feeling sick now as I'm hungry! As birth stories don't have much of a one as I had a section, was planned as dd was breech but ended up being emergency as I went in to labour...not that I realised mind you! I went in for monitoring for reduced movement and only pushed to be checked as my bump was tight-no pain and was 5cm dilated! They were going to send me home!

BunBunMum · 06/01/2018 20:09

Sorry some of you are feeling so sick.

I had a relatively straightforward labour with DS. First contraction was 4pm on the Wednesday and he was born 1am Friday but I was only in hospital 12hr of it. I only had gas and air until he got stuck then I ended up in theatre with a spinal and forceps but was ok!

RE anxiety - I’m exactly the same and cried with relief at the scan when I saw a baby there on the screen! I haven’t been to the drs yet but I guess my scab will be mid-Feb!

Pollyp87 · 06/01/2018 20:54

My hormones are all over at the moment, I nearly burst into tears in B&Q later for absolutely nothing, I just feel really overwhelmed!! I think I’m definitely worrying a lot too being a first timer. Cant wait to get things moving on Tuesday and find out about scan etc

Gem173 · 06/01/2018 21:12

Back from a birthday dinner for my uncle. Had to try avoid alcohol all night and people did question, just said I’m too tired to drink and tbh I am knackered. Got amazing lower back pain. It hurts so bad I can’t get comfy, also a funny gut bit windy I think but not too sure :( haven’t had much fruit and veg today but chips chicken and chocolate cake! Feel quite guilty guess I can make it up to the baby tomorrow xx

Gizzymum · 06/01/2018 22:19

Anyone who has back pain lying when trying to sleep - my tip is to lie on your side with knees bent slightly and a pillow between your lower legs (knees to ankles). It helps keep your spine/pelvis aligned so should make it comfier (once you get used to sleeping with a pillow between your knees anyway).

Gem173 · 06/01/2018 22:32

Thanks @Gizzymum will try this tonight. Sleeping on the sofa as oh is in a funny mood tonight and is in the bed. Wanted to use the bed but he’s opened the window and it’s freezing in there. Just had heating on to warm myself up so bit of a waste really. Gunna try get comfy on the sofa, it’s nice and warm in here anyway so that’s a plus xx

StrawberryLemonade · 06/01/2018 22:50

Gizzymum I slept like that for most of my last pregnancy! Will have to source a thin pillow for this time as DD now used the one I used when I was pregnant with her. I managed to stomach going out for tea witg my friend - I had told her I was pregnant so she wasn’t surprised when I just wanted plain chicken and chips! I think my baby may actually be a chip cos it’s one of the only things I can stomach. Just remembered I’ve forgotten my vitamins today but not getting out of bed for them so will have to take them in the morning instead.

SpriteGirl · 06/01/2018 23:33

@StrawberryLemonade chips are one of the only things that don’t turn my stomach too. Said to my husband just before the weekend I think we’ll have to have chips at the weekend. He wasn’t complaining Grin. I haven’t had, nor have I wanted to have, a McDonald’s for 10 maybe 15 years. I found myself daydreaming about their fries 🍟 the other day. So unlike me.

SpriteGirl · 06/01/2018 23:35

@Hortonlovesahoo how has your bleeding been today ?

BertieBotts · 06/01/2018 23:36

The only thing I fancy is fruit! Just fruit and then I'm really loose on the toilet Blush

I've been having lots of little cracker and breadstick things with hummus, that's my current lunch obsession, DS joins in too, it's great :)

BertieBotts · 06/01/2018 23:36

But fried chicken is also going down vv well. And mashed potatoes. I find myself dreaming about fried chicken and mashed potatoes...

Gem173 · 07/01/2018 09:50

All this food dreaming sounds good ! Absolutely knackered this morning as I just couldn’t sleep much :( just woke up and worried about how I am gunna get up at 5am tomorrow for work 😴

ActualMermaid · 07/01/2018 10:03

Hi everybody, how is everyone feeling today?
Sorry to hear about all the nausea! I can sympathise, it hits me first thing in the morning as soon as I open my eyes. I’ve found that the only thing I can face/keep down in the morning are fruity ice lollies, especially the orange juice ones. Not the most nutritious but I just can’t stomach crackers or ginger biscuits or dry toast.

I’ve also found myself getting so wound up and furious about trivial things. I’m not an angry person at all normally, so I think DP is a bit scared. I went to get a milkshake last night but was turned away because they were closing, and I found myself getting really angry and upset in the middle of the mall. I was all for starting a social media riot against them! Blush All these hormones are turning me into a monster. Grin

peterpanwendy · 07/01/2018 10:16

I slept with a pillow in between my legs last night... it was like a miracle cure I slept so well! I have woken up feeling a bit yucky but taken my tablet straight away so hoping it kicks in soon. I also have a horrible taste in my mouth.. the metal taste everyone talks about? I'm 9+1 so weird I'm only just experiencing it but hey ho.. it won't go away!
I am also worried about work tomorrow @Gem173 wish I could just stay off!

Gizzymum · 07/01/2018 10:28

Glad the pillow helped @peterpanwendy

I had an awful night. I've only been having very mild nausea until now but as soon as I went to bed I felt like I was going to throw up. I barely got any sleep because of it but thankfully DH got up with DS so I'm still in bed. The thing is I don't know if it's food poisoning (we had a takeaway for tea) or if it's just morning sickness hitting (I'm 8W today but only had very mild nausea with DS). Can it just come on that severely all of a sudden?

BunBunMum · 07/01/2018 10:29

My toddler had a horrific night and I’m shattered and feeling queasy. God knows how we’ll all be ready and put the door by 8 tomorrow.......😩

Lphil93 · 07/01/2018 10:33

Don't want to jinx it but I think I've gotten over the morning sickness guys at 9 weeks! Hold in tight those who are still suffering.

I'm now onto the stomach and back pain hooray!☺️
