Hi all thought I would check in after a rough few days.

After the excitement of the BFP everything has just gone downhill! No one is really excited about the baby (apart from my mum). My DH family haven't mentioned it since we broke the news!

I have only told one person at work about my news because she is my work best friend and she was noticing me making frequent trips to the toilets to puke. She had a mmc early last year so I tried to tell her in a sensitive way before everyone else and she burst into tears. I was expecting it but I still feel like crap. She's not text me since and I want to give her some space.

Finally the nausea & sickness at least 10-15 times a day, and the doctor can't fit me in because it's not an emergency! Finding it so hard with a 5yo and 2yo to look after. Sorry for the rant. Hopefully things will get better !

SpriteGirl · 05/01/2018 11:41

Congratulations @Pollyp87. You need to be sure you’re not taking any vitamin A, this includes fish liver oils.

www.babycentre.co.uk/x541094/is-it-safe-to-take-fish-oil-supplements-in-pregnancy

This is why we can’t eat liver or use skincare with retinol or vitamin A. My midwife specifically signalled our vitamin A.

@YouCantBeSirius thanks for info on flu jab. This will calm me down a bit. I am not great with needles. Has got worse with age wasn’t like this when I was younger Confused

@florafoxtrot my nausea has eased off too and it worries me. Desperate for my NHS scan to come through. Can’t really afford an early scan when there’s no actual obvious problem (they’d scan me on the NHS if there was) and I’d rather have the money for a harmony test of it comes to it. I do still feel a bit nauseous sometimes and my boobs are still huge and sore so I’m just trying not to worry and be patient 😒. I’ve tried to take the attitude that no amount of worry will change the outcome - not easy I know but it’s getting me through these first few weeks! Xx

milney25 · 05/01/2018 11:44

@Stephiewoo well you are over the first hurdle! I don't know how people cope with no scan until 12 weeks!

No, I've had a tiny bit of spotting, but nothing like the rush of pink from the other two nights. I've not had a coil, but I do have a bit of a history. I had bleeding between periods for about 6 years - I'd bleed for like 20 days month. They finally diagnosed endometriosis and large polyps about 4 months ago and I had surgery on both 3 months ago. We'd been TTC for years and the month after my surgery we got pregnant.

Stephiewoo · 05/01/2018 11:51

Hey @MOB247 sounds shitty. That's the issue with knowing you're preggers early, after the initial excitement you have to deal with the sickness, the ongoing anxiety and worry and expected to carry on as normal. Some women do, good on them, but some want or need that extra support in the first few months because it's new, it's tough going.
I've not got much family around me, and work colleagues are limited as are good female mates close by.
Be rest assured though, each baby bus on mumsnet can be such a source of support. I still have friends who I've met from the last one I was on nearly 5 years ago now.Don't ever feel you're alone Hun.

Stephiewoo · 05/01/2018 11:52

@milney25 scar adhesions maybe?

milney25 · 05/01/2018 12:23

As I'm walking to the shops to buy ingredients for dinner it's dawned on my that my recipe contains wine. That's ok right?!

SpriteGirl · 05/01/2018 12:30

Depends how long you cook it for I would say. Apparently there’s info on the internet about how long and at what temp you have to cook to get rid of alcohol. This is prob one of those personal choice things as some people are happy to have the odd glass of wine during pregnancy but personally I wouldn’t.

Gizzymum · 05/01/2018 12:30

@MOB247 sorry everyone isn't as excited as you expected. Mine and my DH families are the opposite way round. My parents never mention it (they've 5 grandkids already) but MIL and FIL mention it more and seem more excited (this would be their 2nd grandchild). Perhaps DH's parents just don't want to intrude and want to wait until the 12w scan to get excited and start asking you lots of things?

Welcome @peanut2017. Glad you found us. 😀

Emmasmum2013 · 05/01/2018 12:50

Just done the Chinese gender predictor thing and its saying a Boy! But I checked a 2013 calendar to see if it would have been right about my DD, it said Boy again. Oh well, 50/50 chance either way! Can't wait to find out :)

BertieBotts · 05/01/2018 12:52

Technically though you're supposed to use your Chinese age, which changes at Chinese New Year rather than your actual birthday. So that might change things - I think it keeps mine the same but I'm not sure!

CumbrianExile · 05/01/2018 13:22

Milney It would be ok for me, but as Spritegirl said, its personal preference, I had a glass of shandy to celebrate the new year! Everyone is different Smile

CumbrianExile · 05/01/2018 13:25

So, I have just done the Chinese Predictor thing, and I am having a girl. I also set the time for when i conceived DS and it was correct for him too, so we shall see Grin

Emmasmum2013 · 05/01/2018 13:26

@BertieBotts the one I used did calculate my Chinese age.
I don't think there's anything that can accurately predict the gender other than a proper test or scan. I've even looked at all the quizzes to see if any of the cravings or symptoms I'm having match up to a boy or a girl, and its still 50/50! Confused

peanut2017 · 05/01/2018 13:38

Thanks @gizzymum think you mentioned you have a 6 month old? So I'm not the only mad one with a baby and pregnant😲

Pollyp87 · 05/01/2018 13:39

@spritegirl sorry I meant omega 3, not cod liver oil....I definitely do have baby brain already!

Gizzymum · 05/01/2018 13:40

@peanut2017 no you're not the only mad one. I did say he was 6mths old but he's 7mths old. 😳 a definite case of baby brain but I'm not sure which one to blame! 😂

milney25 · 05/01/2018 13:47

Thanks guys. I'm cooking it for two hours so it looks like it's safe. The number of nanny states I've guzzled during this pregnancy will probably equal more alcohol 😂

SpriteGirl · 05/01/2018 14:04

@Pollyp87 phew that’s ok then Grin

SpriteGirl · 05/01/2018 14:06

Now I am wondering if I should cut into my Christmas cake Grin Wasn’t going to eat it because of alcohol content. All things considered it would prob make me feel sick 🤢

Pollyp87 · 05/01/2018 14:37

Haha I ate almost my whole Christmas cake over Christmas 😬 I’m really worried about the damage I might have done in the weeks when I didn’t realise I was pregnant 😕 looking forward to seeing GP on Tuesday and going over everything. Good news is that today I’ve not felt half as bad for not taking my medication. Hoping it stays that way!!

Kiki275 · 05/01/2018 15:19

@Gem173 I'm exactly the same - little if any nausea but soooooo much bloating and gas , etc. I have a blood test next week with MW so will check, hopefully will get a scan date too. At first put it down to a xmas diet but now it's getting ridiculous. Saying that I'd much rather feel like a whale carcass than suffer with sickness like the ladies on hear..... immense sympathy for you all x

Gem173 · 05/01/2018 15:31

@kiki275 exactly my thoughts.. have been feeling kinda weird all day like I’m hungry but I feel nausea at the same time, my stomach feels rough but I’d rather Pop out a fart than throw up😂 sorry ladies do hope you all get better soon! Got a Toby carvery soon so gunna stock up on the veggies !! Prob fart a lot more tonight

Hortonlovesahoo · 05/01/2018 15:51

Hi all, had my scan today. Positive news is the baby is growing to scale and has a heartbeat. Negative was that there was a massive blood clot and a fibroid they identified.

Since the scan, I’ve been bleeding A LOT. I called them back and they suspect it’s just the blood clot they saw on the scan but if it’s still so bad on Monday, then I’ll need another scan.

Anyone else had fibroids? Google is a scary place to read!

StrawberryLemonade · 05/01/2018 16:34

THat sounds like overall good news Horton I hope the bleeding stops. At least you know there’s a cause for it.

I told SIL about the pregnancy today. She was a bit surprised I think but pleased. I wasn’t going to tell her but I was waiting for a callback from GP when we were out together with the kids. I spoke to the GP and he was happy to prescribe some antisickness meds so I’ve got them now. I haven’t taken one yet but feel better for knowing they are there.

Hope everyone is ok this evening

peterpanwendy · 05/01/2018 16:49

I have slept on/off most of today and barely eaten, a few crackers. My symptoms are so consistent now and you name it I've got it so I'm praying that my little bean is safe and happy. Miscarriage is such a scary thought. I will keep being positive but it's always on my mind :(

@Gem173 at only 6 and a half weeks I wouldn't worry. I found out at 6 weeks and only had a few symptoms, mainly exhaustion! The rest of the symptoms came steadily after that. I only began experiencing sore boobs in week 7 and the nausea hit with a bang in week 8.

I am 9 weeks tomorrow, every week feels like a mini milestone. I am so attached and in love with the little baby-to-be already.
