I’m going to tell work when I go back on 8th Jan because being an infant school teacher there’s a chance of a chicken pox etc outbreak - my classroom is a germ box Grin

But will only tell my Head and my job share & LSA. I’m usually the first to be climbing on tables to help my LSA with displays etc so she’ll twig pretty quickly anyway!

Feeling so sick at the moment which gets worse when I need to eat.....but I feel sick at the thought of food Grin

peterpanwendy · 05/01/2018 08:18

@TheSleeperandTheSpindle I'm in the same boat as you, a part of me just wants to tell my head/year group partner/LSA but the other part of me is saying wait till 12 weeks! I'm 9 weeks tomorrow so I don't know what to do :S

misshannah · 05/01/2018 08:20

Oh god the nausea has hit me! I'm used to the fatigue and have only noticed an increase in my general tiredness as i have M.E. I thought i was doing so well to get to 6+5 with very little nausea but UGH it hit last night and I managed a cup of Bovril. Today I've got a huge induction lasting until early afternoon... not sure how i'm going to get through it especially as i've got to set the catering out shortly.

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 05/01/2018 08:30

@peterpanwendy I know what you mean. The way I think of it is that these are people who I would tell if anything did go wrong but also my school are very supportive so that does change things too.

I also worry about something happening at work and no-one knowing that I’m pregnant. Which is probably me just overthinking Grin

peterpanwendy · 05/01/2018 08:34

@misshannah good luck today hopefully you can power through, I have found water and crackers to be my best friends!

@TheSleeperandTheSpindle My school are also very supportive and I know my team will be helpful and kind if I need to slip away or if something does happen.
I'm so anxious about returning to work anyway, it's such a physical job and all week I've been practically bedridden with illness!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/01/2018 08:35

@misshannah eek! I'm 6+6 and no real nausea yet!

@TheSleeperandTheSpindle I told my line manager about my MMC because I suddenly disappeared for a week so I assume he knows I'm ttc however still would rather wait to tell him I'm pregnant again

amzq87 · 05/01/2018 08:37

That was my motivation @TheSleeperandTheSpindle for telling work. My job can be quite demanding mentally and very stressful. After telling my boss, he's said he'll make sure he gives good thought to any work he gives me which is a bonus Smile

peterpanwendy · 05/01/2018 08:51

I've called the doctor about the nausea so hopefully I get an appt today. The receptionist didn't seem too impressed!

Babydreaming · 05/01/2018 09:00

@strawberrylemonade I’m 100% with you on the exhaustion. My little one has a problem with his kidneys and was started on a new medication 2 days ago and since then his sleep has been all over the place. The 1st night he was waking every 2 hours and last night he woke at 11,3 and 5 :( I’m knackered...and moving house today!!

Apparently it’ll take him a week to adjust to the medication so I’m perservering!

I’m not sure if the 1st trimester is easier or harder for me this time round! Last time my job was really busy with loads of night shifts so I was also exhausted. Having a baby already though means that I can never really take naps during the day! Neither ideal!

peanut2017 · 05/01/2018 09:21

Hey can I add myself to the list? Can't find the latest one to copy and paste from? Congrats everyone

I'm 7 weeks + 2 days. Second baby who is only 8.5 months old so hopefully I won't completely have a nervous breakdown 😩

Had an early scan yesterday and heard the heartbeat which was lovely. Back in two weeks as had a couple of losses before.

I'm on maternity leave until end of February and I'm shitting myself telling them. They weren't the best when I told them about my first.

Lots more headaches, nausea and dizziness than I ever had on other pregnancies. Taking phenegan (think that's how it's spelled) which is an antihistamine which is helping a bit.

Excited and nervous as I'm sure you all are

BertieBotts · 05/01/2018 09:25

The risk of miscarriage at 9 weeks isn't that different from the risk at 12 weeks. Unless you're waiting for a scan I would go for it.

peanut2017 · 05/01/2018 09:34

I've no intention of telling work yet especially after how they treated me on my first when I told them early.

The threat of miscarriage is there at whatever stage especially at the beginning and the reason they want me back in 2 weeks is on my second pregnancy I had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. Early scan at 6 weeks so somewhere in those 4 weeks the heartbeat stopped.

I need to first negotiate hours of work with employer before telling them I'm pregnant although not sure I can hide it as never fully lost baby weight after my first baby.

misshannah · 05/01/2018 09:40

@amzq87 sounds like you have a really great boss. I have told HR, but will not tell my manager until i really really have to- ideally 20+ weeks, but am not fitting into clothes already so will have to see if she spots anything. I don't feel my manager would make my life easier or would be supportive in anyway, she says all the right things, but is a nasty piece of work which is surprising as she has a family, etc. She will probably make me more stressed and anxious.

peterpanwendy · 05/01/2018 09:47

Doctor was able to prescribe anti-sickness over the phone 🙌🏼 hoping they work and kick in before I go back to work on Monday so I can hold out for at least a couple of weeks telling them.
I'd like an early scan but they are so pricey!

Gem173 · 05/01/2018 09:59

@peterpanwendy
Glad you got your tablets and I know! I would like an early scan but it’s too prIcey, also don’t want to see a healthy bean then find something goes wrong. I only have lots of gas :( wish I had more symptoms, such a worrier! Only 6+3

SmashyCup · 05/01/2018 10:19

@Babydreaming good luck with the house move! Hope it all goes smoothly and you get settled in soon.

I have told my boss and HR I'm pregnant but I've been too ill to go to work all week so didn't really have a choice!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/01/2018 10:37

@BertieBotts that is true but MMC is so common that if you haven't had a scan, even at 9 weeks with no bleeding, you wouldn't know if there was a HB or not. I only had a scan at 9+6 due to pink spotting last time and found out baby had died at 8+0.

Stephiewoo · 05/01/2018 10:51

Back from EPU and had my 2nd scan. All measuring well at 6+5 days, strong heartbeat. Been signed off from them, just need to book in with the midwife at 8 weeks.

How is everyone?😃xx

LadesC · 05/01/2018 11:08

Ive eaten 4 ice lollies and a grapefruit today so far. Working up the energy to get showered and dressed and take my poor 2yr old out as we had a tv day yest as i felt so rubbish.

BertieBotts · 05/01/2018 11:19

True :(

florafoxtrot · 05/01/2018 11:27

Hi Ladies,

I'll be telling work after 12 weeks although my boss knew it was a possibility as had to tell her that I'd need time off for appointments for the FC etc. She was pretty supportive at that point but I'm not one of her faves so we shall see!

Sorry to keep harping on about this but I am still just so so anxious that something is going to go wrong. I was less sick this morning than previous days and I actually seem to feel the best that i have all week... know that worrying is not going to change a particular outcome but there just seems to be so much miscarriage - particularly after infertility - and I just can't get my head around this actually being OK and us getting a baby at the end of it.

Now also a bit worried that I've booked some back street dodgy place for the early scan!

milney25 · 05/01/2018 11:29

@Stephiewoo that's great news! You'll be able to have a relaxing weekend now Smile

Hortonlovesahoo · 05/01/2018 11:33

@babydreaming - good luck with the house move. I hope it all goes ok.

@Stephiewoo - great news about your scan! :)

@peterpanwendy - Fantastic news that you got the tablets without any fuss! I hope that they kick in soon.

I'm just drinking a cuppa before going for my scan. For some reason, I'm more nervous this time than with my first DC.

Stephiewoo · 05/01/2018 11:37

Here's hoping so @milney25 I'm very matter of fact that everything happens for a reason, albeit sometimes unfair. Now onto the next hurdle of 6 further weeks of waiting which sucks arse!
Did the same happen last night with the spotting? I'm just wondering, have you had a coil before?
