September 2018.... still trying to believe it's a BFP

Jfw82 · 26/12/2017 20:47

Starting a thread with cautious optimism, BFP on Christmas Eve and again today (on ic, first response and CB digital Blush) If all goes well EDD 3 Sept. this will be DC2 for us, DS is 13 months and completely shocked as this was first month TTC when last time took 6 months. Hope to have some company here soon Grin

Zoey as it's your first it's not that easy to say. But as long as your bring your notes, hospital bag and car seat for the baby and take note of the nearest hospital it should be fine. To be honest sitting back in a lovely cottage and being looked after, joining in with what you can and want to would be quite nice late on in pregnancy. Even if you are super unlucky and don't have a totally simple pregnancy, being on bedrest in a cottage with loved ones would probably be ok and maybe good for moral.

Maybe suggest you're maybe going to start trying for a baby soon so make sure they get cancelation insurance and don't book you onto anything just incase. Half truths are easier than lies!

When is your scan Bearsonstairs?

Amazing Fia256. The ClearBlue digital with weeks indicator is the way to go then?

slytherindungeon · 28/12/2017 18:52

Got my booking appointment and first scan sorted today. Have also booked a private reassurance scan for 8 weeks.

I’m more nauseous this time round -spent a few hours in bed today cos I was feeling so sick!

How’s everyone else today?

MonaTheMoaner · 28/12/2017 19:19

How far away is your reassurance scan slytherindungeon?

Not coping too well on a lower caffeine intake. I used to drink those awful Monster energy drinks to help me get through the day but they’re obviously out now. Day three of one cup of coffee a day and bleurgh. So tired.

slytherindungeon · 28/12/2017 19:28

It’s on the 20th ☺️

I went caffeine free about a month before getting pregnant but some days I do wish I could have proper coffee again!

MonaTheMoaner · 28/12/2017 19:36

Less than a month away! I bet you’ll be counting down the days. I’m booking in mine when I get paid on the 8th and undoubtedly I’ll be counting the days too.

I’m saving myself for a nice coffee in the new year. I have one mug a day right now which is in the guidelines but I miss coffee by the bucketload 😂

Flamingo84 · 28/12/2017 20:00

Joining! Took 2 tests today a Tesco cheapie and a clear blue, both positive. My EDD is 5th Sept. I’m a bit in shock as this was our first try!

I have booked a normal GP appt on 11th Jan but is this the right thing to do? Newbie alert - I have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing lol!

My DH wants to tell the parents on New Years Eve. On one hand it’s really early but on the other, I don’t know how long I can keep it a secret from my mum!

Paranormalbouquet · 28/12/2017 20:11

I was hit with waves of nausea today. Worse in the morning and periods of feeling fine. Was only feeling sick for about 2 days with DD so this is different already. Tired today too, I think the fatigue really kicked in at 6 weeks last time so not sure if it’s just a restless night. I’ll do my self referral tomorrow when back in UK and have contacted cervix clinic so hopefully should have a scan with them early.

Zoey I would plan to go if you like with the proviso that you have good insurance which will cover any change of plans, and a hospital plan in destination. Although I’m probably not the voice of reason as I moved countries at 35 weeks in my last pregnancy!

Fia256 · 28/12/2017 20:15

Zoey I would go! If it makes you feel any better, we’re already booked to go to Spain end of July - works out I’ll be 34-36 weeks pregnant while there if this pregnancy all goes well! Can fly till 37 weeks. Although this will be my 3rd baby and precious pregnancies were fine and baby arrived on time etc! Will just cancel last minute if we really have to!

And yes, digital definitely the way to go! It’s nice to just see those words! I’m surprised I even got pregnant though as really thought it would be too early for the digital!

dingdongdigeridoo · 28/12/2017 20:55

Can you tell your parents Zoey? My mum knows I’m pregnant. If something happened at this stage I’d want her support so I told her as soon as I got BFP! That way, they can plan accordingly. I went away late in first pregnancy, and took my maternity notes as I was a bit paranoid! You can always go to the local hospital.

Congrats Flamingo! Most first time pregnant women seem to visit their doctor. If it gives you peace of mind then it’s worth it.

Zoey36 · 28/12/2017 21:21

Thanks everyone for the sensible advice! I'm just not comfortable telling my parents yet.... I just want to wait until it's a bit more 'certain' I guess.
Think I'll say we can go and sort it all out later!

MonaTheMoaner · 28/12/2017 21:31

Having a very anxious evening. I really wish I was oblivious to this. Another four week wait for an ultrasound to see a heartbeat seems like forever. I’m getting lots of cramps (mild, pulling style cramps) and I know it can be normal but I’m stressing myself out despite the fact there’s nothing I can do.

Namechangedtoscream · 28/12/2017 21:34

Would it help if those of us with worrying histories had a separate anxiety thread? I'm just conscious I don't want to scare people

MonaTheMoaner · 28/12/2017 21:36

That’s a good idea!

Namechangedtoscream · 28/12/2017 21:38

@monathemoaner I've set one up on here

MonaTheMoaner · 28/12/2017 21:57

When you booked your booking in appointment, did you need a GP appointment first to confirm your pregnancy or did you just tell the receptionist you were pregnant?

Namechangedtoscream · 28/12/2017 21:58

Here you can book directly with the midwifery team no need for a GP appointment

MonaTheMoaner · 28/12/2017 22:00

I’ll ring them tomorrow. I can’t remember what I did last time but getting a GP appointment here is like getting blood from a stone.

Jfw82 · 28/12/2017 22:13

Where I am you can self refer to maternity services so no need to see GP - did my form yesterday so now waiting for my call back Smile

kirinm · 28/12/2017 23:30

Is anyone based in London? I think I can self refer and I think I'll self refer to Kings College Hospital. Does anyone have any experience of Kings?

CuppaSarah · 29/12/2017 06:45

I hadn't even thought about registering with midwives. I do need to see the gp about aspirin though. After ds, the consultant told me I needed to be on it from 8 weeks. But as I only developed preeclampsia at the end my odds of not getting it again are good!

I'm based in Berkshire. Not sure if I'm going to go for Royal Berkshire or Frimley Park. I had my first two at Frimley and their amazing staff somehow gave my a forceps delivery so gentle I healed incredibly fast and painlessly with no ill effects. To be honest I think the cost of parking will swing it lol!

Done my last test and the test line is a little darker than yesterday. So I'm going to stop testing now. No symptoms but big sore breasts. But at 6 weeks my morning sickness will hit.

blondie1001 · 29/12/2017 08:20

Hi all! Congratulations on all your bfps! I got mine last week after trying for aaaaages. This is dc2. Slightly tentative because I had an mc at 6 weeks in October. I’m due 3 September. CuppaSarah I remember you from the June group. Nice to you you got another bfp so soon!

MonaTheMoaner · 29/12/2017 08:22

CuppaSarah I love seeing those BFP’s get darker.

I woke up nauseas but couldn’t actually bring anything up. Probably an off morning because with other pregnancies sickness never really kicked in at all, much less at 4 weeks. Keeping an eye and blessing every damn symptom though!

Fia256 · 29/12/2017 08:25

You can’t book a midwife appointment here where I am until 8 weeks! Although I’m going to see the Gp at around 5 weeks to get booked in for an early scan at 6 weeks.

I’m in two minds whether to bother going to my appointment today. Got a pelvic scan which is to do with the recurrent miscarriage clinic. I rang them up as advised on the letter to let them know I’m now pregnant as it says you will have to cancel the app. But went round in circles with them and they said still come. But that was just the receptionist not the consultant! It’s a good 45 mins away the hospital the app is at so I really don’t want to drive there to be told it’s pointless or not even see a consultant. But then on the flip side I don’t want to miss something or any advise they might give!
