September 2018.... still trying to believe it's a BFP

Starting a thread with cautious optimism, BFP on Christmas Eve and again today (on ic, first response and CB digital Blush) If all goes well EDD 3 Sept. this will be DC2 for us, DS is 13 months and completely shocked as this was first month TTC when last time took 6 months. Hope to have some company here soon Grin

I went to the doctors today as we have to go through the GP here. She asked when my LMP was, which was the 15th November. I told her I have long cycles and think I O vulated on 11th December but she said she will only take the 15th November date..?! So will I end up having a scan at about 10 weeks?!

LostMyBaubles · 02/01/2018 17:01

Can I join in please
Got my bfp on Nye!

Edd is 8/9/18
Will prob be induced a week or 2 before that

Will try and catch up soon.
Most likely tonight when my hot/cold flushes come back with insomnia lol

CuppaSarah · 02/01/2018 17:09

Zoey probably, it happened with ds. I told the midwife, but she said they can only go on lmp and no one can predict when they ovulate, I swear she rolled her eyes. I told the sonographer I was ten weeks and due new years day. She was very impressed when I was right. I was a little smug when I went back to the midwife!I came back a couple weeks later and have all the 12 week checks done, but it was reassuring to see he was doing well.

Welcome newcomers! Congratulations on those BFPs!!!

Zoey36 · 02/01/2018 17:12

@CuppaSarah I love that you were right! We know our bodies! Well I won't be complaining if I get a scan at 10 weeks... less waiting! Thanks for sharing. x

dingdongdigeridoo · 02/01/2018 17:17

My doctor did the same with last period dates and wouldn’t listen to me either. My scan was at 9 weeks instead of 12, which obviously wasted money for the NHS. I know exactly when I ovulated this time. But I bet they still don’t listen.

Tried some clothes on today and holy shit I’m bloated. I already feel like I’m protruding at 5 weeks. DS was a huge bump though so maybe it’s coming in earlier.

Namechangedtoscream · 02/01/2018 17:26

I put my lmp start date back a few days to accommodate for my short cycle. They assume and calculate for a 28 day and don't budge. My scans have always matched my dates.

Fia256 · 02/01/2018 17:49

I've always told a little white lie when giving my lmp date as I don't have 28 cycles! My last pregnancy, I didn't ovulate until cd18, so I added 4 days on from the date of my lmp, and at my 12 week scan, the date matched it. It does depend on implantation too though so can still end up being a day or so out either way Smile

CuppaSarah · 02/01/2018 19:30

Finding it hard to keep quiet today so just need to get this off my chest:

I AM PREGNANT
I AM PREGNANT
THERE IS AN EMBRYO INSIDE ME
I AM PREGNANT PREGNANT PREGNANT PREGNANT PREGNANT

SantaBaby1 · 02/01/2018 19:39

5w 4d, and I went to my dr today who gave me an EDD of 01/09.

Was hoping they’d take pity on me (previous miscarriage in the summer and diagnosed anxiety..) and let me have an early scan but no such luck. They did however tell me to go in tomorrow for a blood test to check I am pregnant and check the levels. Hopefully that might give me some reassurance but perhaps not as I’ve been googling and the variance of healthy hcg levels are massive and unless they check again a few days later will it really tell me anything?

I think I might pay for an early scan... at 8 weeks or so. We will be doing the Harmony test at 10 weeks but that just seems so far away right now.

lmccorriston · 02/01/2018 22:10

HI, adding myself!
Got a bfb last Wednesday and I think I’m 5+2.
I also have a 13 month old so looking forward to 2u2!
25 - DC2 EDD 02/09/2018

Feeling sick in the mornings and slight pains though out the day but like some of you I’ve been taking tests regularly to reassure myself it’s really in there!!
Thinking about having an early scan around 8 weeks, so looking forward to that

Hope you’re all feeling ok!! ANd congraulations x

kirinm · 02/01/2018 22:25

@Paranormalbouquet Could I ask you a cervix related question? I had a lletz treatment a couple of years ago (unnecessarily it later transpired) but is that something hospitals would take into consideration? I'm wondering how I find out whether I have a shortened cervix?

Flamingo84 · 02/01/2018 22:42

Things I learned today:

  1. Pregnancy vitamins were making me nauseous. I was taking them in the morning and feeling rough until lunch. I’m now trying them at night.
  2. Leg cramp is also a pregnancy symptom. Who knew?! Apparently the expanding uterus can put pressure on blood vessels.
  3. Pregnancy is a lot more paperwork than I was expecting! Spent this morning filling out what I could of the large maternity notes booklet I was given.
  4. Cucumber water is lovely Smile
Paranormalbouquet · 02/01/2018 22:52

I’ve now developed hives. Something that came and went during my first trimester with DD. I think I’d rather nausea than itching!

Kirin they should take it into account, but a single LLETZ is seldom a problem unless it was very extensive. Do you have a record of the procedure (it should say how deep it was/whether a cone procedure was performed)? You can request they measure it at your 12 and 20 week scans if it concerns you (they’d have to do transvaginal but that’s fairly easy). I’m annoyed that mine was only discovered due to an abnormal smear when the damage was done during an EMCS. Although I was very unwell and had a big PPH/sepsis so I suspect my cervix was not top priority at the time!

kirinm · 03/01/2018 07:01

Thanks @Paranormalbouquet no, I don't have a record but I know they said there were only minimal abnormal cells. I'll assume it's in my notes. (They later said there were no abnormal cells just hpv and then changed their mind and said no hpv either)!

I have a number of problems that will automatically make me high risk so to know a short cervix might not be an additional risk is reassuring. Thank you!

kirinm · 03/01/2018 07:16

Definitely getting nauseous now. I'm okay at the moment, okay enough to go for a run in the morning but after lunch yesterday I was really nauseous for the rest of the day. I forgot how shit nausea can make you feel.

Fia256 · 03/01/2018 08:11

Morning all! Rang the drs this morning to be put into a bloody triage and got to wait for the dr to call me. Really annoying as I prefer going in as I think they try and fob you off a bit more on the phone! Ringing to sort out about having an early scan but also as I had to cancel recurrent miscarriage clinic. When I fell pregnant in August this year, I'd already had 3 miscarriages in a row, one being second trimester yet the dr was an absolute arsehole about referring me for an early scan!!! So I'm praying I don't get that again as after 4 in a row I think I'm more than entitled!

Namechangedtoscream · 03/01/2018 08:16

Morning all. I'm shattered. Spent all night throwing up which then meant I couldn't sleep as I had an empty stomach. Feeling extremely nauseous this morning and should be at work but I'm dragging my heels about getting ready. Luckily I put in my calendar I've got to be somewhere that isn't the office this morning and blocked out a huge amount of time for a 5min appointment so I'm not rushing!!

CuppaSarah · 03/01/2018 08:30

Fia that sounds awful, hoping you get a sympathetic Dr to speak to. You definitely deserve an early scan.

Flamingo I think you're onto something with the vitamins. I started taking mine after dinner and I don't feel as sick at all.

NameChanged sorry you're so unwell. I really hope it doesn't get any worse, but with your hg risk, take things easy!

Mona thinking of you today. Really hoping you get positive news.

Fia256 · 03/01/2018 08:38

Oh and I second the vitamin thing too! Last pregnancy I was horribly sick on them. One time I was driving round a roundabout (had nowhere to pull over) while throwing up into a sick bowl I'd got from work!! I was reluctant to take them this time but they do say to only take with your main meal, whereas I didn't last time, so I think you need as full of a stomach as poss!

kirinm · 03/01/2018 08:58

@Fia256 Where are you based? There are a few self referral EPUs in London and I'll be pushing for a scan at one of them if it isn't automatically offered.

Fia256 · 03/01/2018 09:19

I'm in the midlands. Just got off the phone to a lovely lovely dr. He was so supportive and rang the epu straight away then rang me back with a date for 19th Jan! I'll be 6w 5days then so I feel so relieved at how easily that was booked in and that I wasn't made to feel like a time waster (unlike last time!!!) he also said to ring and book in with the midwife for the next available appointment although will double check that when booking! I feel excited now!

CuppaSarah · 03/01/2018 09:26

So glad to hear that! That must be a real weight off your mind. I'm looking forward to seeing all these early scans.

Does anyone have heartburn yet? I'm getting quite a bit, but I've just been eating whatever over Christmas so think it may just be my digestive system letting me know it's disappointed in me. Getting back into better habits this week.

blueberriesforbreakfast · 03/01/2018 09:33

With regard to the vitamins, do try a few different brands if they make you feel rough. I was fine last time on Pregnacare, but I know lots of people who say they make them feel ill. Seven seas are supposed to be good too, but really as long as your diet is good you only need additional Folic Acid and Vitamin D which you can get on prescription free from your GP or from your midwife at booking in.

Don't take a general multivitamin though, just in case you weren't aware we can't have them as they're too high in Vitamin A.

kirinm · 03/01/2018 09:35

@CuppaSarah I've been getting heartburn / nausea after eating. I think it's eating too fast combined with hormones slowing the digestive system down.

Fia256 · 03/01/2018 09:41

@CuppaSarah I got heartburn yesterday after having lunch! Other than that, barely any other symptoms!
