Morning............

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
largeginandtonic · 25/04/2007 09:34

Thats it......

Im moving next door to you April, any houses/mansions for sale?

maveta · 25/04/2007 09:37

Hi May girls.. just popping in to say hi, seems quieter on our thread everyday but there´s still a few of us hanging in there so all is not yet lost!

MrsJaffabiffa - just wanted to say that does sound weird re. strep b test. When I got mine done they did a vaginal AND anal swab (niiiice), just wiping your hand on the swab sounds a bit odd but maybe not.. is there anyone else i.e. a doctor you can ask?

Hope you are all keeping well.. my due date today! yay! or erm.. something like that. Celebrating with a lunchtime curry and am going to try to seduce dh this evening but, damned if I know why but my seduction technique just doesn´t seem as good as it used to be.

anyway, slinking back off to April thread now, take care x

ShowOfHands · 25/04/2007 09:53

Maveta- my current seduction technique is barking rather sharply at DH- "take your trousers off now and if you moan about being too tired then I'll sit on you until you cry". Aah, romantic.

My blissful maternity leave is due to be somewhat interrupted today. I've enjoyed two full days of lounging around reading and drinking Gaviscon through a straw. Today my mother is coming. She requires slightly more attention than the cat unfortunately so I will be subjected to descriptions of what happens when HRT meets flatulence and a tirade about what her at no 23 who smells suspiciously of Calamine is doing with him from 27 who has the rhododendrons that need the attention. Any baby-related chat will be capped by a short, sharp 'in my day you just shoved the baby outside in its pram/put your make-up on and went out anyway/made an apple pie for your husband and warmed his slippers (delete as appropriate). She's taking me shopping for the rest of my baby stuff which amounts to a sieve (ooh home waterbirth + sieve = eugh) and some storage units on wheels. I am contemplating a large mallet for knocking me out or some black market valium for good measure.

I've taken to waking up in the early hours, staring at the ceiling and panicking about how to push a 17lb baby out of me.

Not that you asked, but we started perineal massage last night. I would have done it on my own but that's a logistical impossibility considering I can't even see my feet. Poor ol' DH thought it was going to be a romantic, erotic experience. He would have got more sentimentality from oiling his bike chain. Painful bloody ridiculous procedure, but will stick with it- well DH can stick with it while I lie back and eat crisps.

Tescos delivered last night and guess what, they have no bananas. How can I make banana and summer berry smoothies without bananas? I ask you, Tescos having no bananas, what is the world coming to?

ShowOfHands · 25/04/2007 10:01

Just caught up, anneme sorry to hear about cs. Can only echo others- planned cs so much better than emergency. Your DH sounds lovely.

Scoot, did you give birth then?

Still haven't had a KK. I think they're mythical like goblins and comfortable thongs.

maveta · 25/04/2007 10:03

Kudos to you Showofhands re. perineal massage.. I flirted with the idea until I found out what was involved.. eek.Love your choice of baby name, was our first choice but is on hold for now.. doesn´t suit boys so well you see..Enjoy your day with your mum, good luck sieve shopping, guess you´ll want a long handle but good manoeuvreability (sp???!).. could be distracting watching dh chasing bobbing poos around the pool, no?

Think I´m going to have to actually get romantic on dh´s ass tonight, goddamit, why can´t he just be a normal man and be glad to be getting any at all? He actually whined this morning that I was using him to get this baby out. YES. AND YOUR POINT IS..??? suffering sigh]]

Right, it´s been a long hard morning, I´m off for a nap.

ShowOfHands · 25/04/2007 10:15

I think I could take the whining over the hopeful breathing in my ear I get at 7am each morning.

Tell DH firmly that he put the baby in there, he can help get it out. Have you chosen a boy's name? You're in Spain you lucky madam. Is it revoltingly hot yet?

Oh God, a sieve, loss of all dignity. What have I done?

Lwatkins · 25/04/2007 10:18

Morning.......

So very sleepy, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Had a bad nights sleep and have had to get up early because my midwife is coming 'sometime between 11 and 1pm'. I hate it when they do this, it means I HAVE to get up a possible 2 hours earlier than needed. She'll only be here for 10 bloody minutes, I can predict the whole thig:

M/w: So how are you keeping?
LW: Fine, though I'm tired and utterly fed up.
M/w: Oh it'll all be over soon!
Me: yeah.

M/w: Right lets check your blood pressure (checks), right that's all ok. Fancy doing a wee for me?
LWk. (goes and pi**es in a pot and returns to m/w. She puts that stick thing in it)
M/w: Right that all seems to be fine. Shall we have a listen to babies h/b and have a feel too?
LW: ok. (Everything fine).
M/w: Do you have anywhere for you and the baby to live in September yet?
LW: No still homeless effective from that time, thank you for asking!
M/w: Right, see what I can do (her response EVERY appt). Well, it was lovely to see you. I'll be back to see you before you leave on the ...... and that'll be us.
LW: ok, by.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

LG&T have a fabulous day with your friends baby twins, I want my baby!

April glad J had a good Birthday, pics are lovely btw.

anneme sorry to here about section, at least it is planned and not an emergency one.

Maveta, sending you BIG labour vibes. Hope your not feeling too fed up. I am and I still have 4 weeks to EDD!

SOH, hope today with mother goes ok. I miss my mum, sob sob. And at your DH having to do the perineal massage thing and thinking it would be a 'romantic, erotic experience.' Whatever tickles your fancy I suppose

Right, suppose I'd better sling my arse in the shower and at least make a half decent attempt at looking like a somewhat normal human being before m/w gets here. Just you watch, she'll show up at 5 to 1 grrrrr.

maveta · 25/04/2007 11:07

SOH - not revoltingly hot yet but definitely getting pretty warm.. our boy´s name is Noah.. in fact was just trying it out with Mathilda as a possible future sister´s name and it works pretty well so we may yet use it...

Off to buy some ingredients for curry and then a long walk..

juliewoolie · 25/04/2007 11:15

quick question Braxton hicks are they meant to to really be painful and can they happen like a stitch as if you have run too far?

cameroonmama · 25/04/2007 11:15

Morning all, I went out last night to a Pampered Chef party, anyone been to one before? Is the middle class American answer to Tupperware parties but instead of plastic you get kitchen equipment, bet LG&T has been to one, fun but a bit dull as it was at my MIL so I was the youngest by about 600 million light years. I'm just annoyed I missed out on the Anne Summers one a few weeks back

Sorry Anneme about the cs, join our cs club, if you can wait until the 11th you, me and LG&T can pop them out in unison. After 2 emergency cs I am looking forward to a planned, much more relaxing one

SOH have a fun day with your mum, thank the heavens you have only got yours for one day, mine is coming for 3 weeks! I am appalled that Tesco don't have any bananas, but do have KKs, do you think the delivery man ate them all instead? By the way what is a KK?

Maveta, sending you some labour vibes...try speed bumps apparently that helps and much easier on your relationship

LW, I can't believe you have only just got up, I'm , anyone would think you are a student or something.

By the way SKYTV has gone awfully quiet, do you think she is ok?

Lwatkins · 25/04/2007 11:30

Oh Cam don't be silly! I hadn't only just got up when that was written, I had been awake a whole 15 minutes previous to writing that post!

It is hard, living this student life! I mean tommorrow they expect me to be at lectures for 8:30AM! I don't even know what 8:30 am looks like!

cameroonmama · 25/04/2007 11:40

What, you mean you actually have to go to lectures, disgraceful

Lwatkins · 25/04/2007 11:53

I KNOW! Who do they think they are? I'm only actually in uni thursday and friday's, for 2/3 hours a day. That's it. £3,000 a year tuition fees for a 6 hour week!

cameroonmama · 25/04/2007 12:26

That's it I'm not paying my taxes anymore, it wasn't like that in my day

aprilmeadow · 25/04/2007 12:34

SOH - lol at your dh!

Cam - a KK is a Krispey Kreme Doughnut. The best in the whole wide world!!

LW - i meant to say that if you were looking for cheap nursing bras, you should try looking on Ebay. I saw loads on there starting at 5quid on buy it now! {http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&shortcut=0&from=R41&query=nursing+bras&category0=&Submit=Search\ebay}

aprilmeadow · 25/04/2007 12:34

Try again! ebay

AbbyLou · 25/04/2007 12:37

Afternoon all, hope everyone's ok. Got my mw appointment this afternoon at 4pm and looking forward to hearing baby's heartbeat again. I had to pop in to drs this morning to pick up a sample tube and the receptionist kindly said - good god, you look ready! Yeah, thanks for that, as if I didn't know!

cameroonmama · 25/04/2007 12:42

April I'm afraid I've led a very sheltered life! Glad the birthday treat was a success.

aprilmeadow · 25/04/2007 12:44

I only found out about them within the last year or so. They are truely yummy.

cameroonmama · 25/04/2007 12:45

Julie, I forgot to say that BH are not usually painful, more rather uncomfortable and your whole tummy goes tight, I find a bit of heavy breathing through them helps I often get a stitch like pain when I try to waddle too fast. HTH

juliewoolie · 25/04/2007 13:21

Thanks for that guess maybe it was my body telling me to get off the ladder and stop painting!

cameroonmama · 25/04/2007 13:29

Might not be such a bad idea Julie!

aprilmeadow · 25/04/2007 13:30

I had bh's that felt a little like a stitch but mainly when i had over done it. Mostly they were just tightenings all over. you're on a ladder!! get down!!!!

AbbyLou · 25/04/2007 14:21

It's very quiet around here today isn't it? Maybe everyone's catching up on their sleep, I've just had an hour and it was bliss. Why is it so much easier to get comfortable in the day?

juliewoolie · 25/04/2007 14:24

but i only have 3 more bits to gloss and the decorating is finally over. Wish youd not mentioned the lushness that is krisp kreme i now am craving one and might have to pop to the shops and get one.
