Aw pinkjenny that sounds lovely. I didnt think they did baby showers over here. I lived in New York for a couple of yrs and went to a few ove there its is a really good way of getting all those last min things you havnt got round to getting.

Well my DF seems to still be alive got a call from him at 2.30 last night goodness knows what sort of state he will be in when he gets home later!! Just hope he remebers he invited friends round for dinner tonight and I am not cooking.

Bring on another sunny day which I will be enjoying from inside the house - I made the mistake of going into Oxford Street late yesterday arvo blimey it was hot and sweaty. Think late pregnancy and sunshine should only be enjoyed from an air conditioned room, On the plus side I did manage to get some bf strappy tops in H&M. Thank god for H&M and Topshop otherwise I think I will would have worn my DF's clothes all pregnancy.

Another long waffling post - sorry.

Have a lovely day ladies.

aprilmeadow · 29/04/2007 09:59

ARRGGGHHHHH just written a massive post and clicked CLOSE - duh!

SOH - poor you, your lurgy sounds nasty.

I should point out that although Ella sounds like a dream, her big brother was not! The first two weeks were the longest in history! We didnt sleep and looked like zombies! He was a fussy feeder and was on formula and breast milk by this point. He didnt (and still doesnt)sleep and we were only able to get him to sleep if we a) held him, b) held him or c)put him in his buggy in front of the tumble dryer!

Pebble - Well done to ds and his school for doing so well in the Rock Challenge and at your dh!

Pink & MKG - your showers sounds lovely - lucky you! I had a shower thrown by work when i was pg with ds but had nothing this time round.

Cam - I love playing skittles, its so much fun.

Off to get all the things i should have got yesterday. Dh is going to finish painting the kitchen whilst i go out with the children. We still have so many things to do in this house that should have been done before Ella arrived. Thats without going through the tip that is our garage!!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 29/04/2007 10:33

Happy Sunday,

I think somethings gone wrong with me, I slept another great night last night? I didn't even get up for a wee until 7.30am?????? If I didn't have a wriggling alien inside me to remind me, I'd say I had lost my pregnancy symptoms. I'm still tired and achey by 4ish in the day but as long as I sit down then I feel fine.

SOH, You sound rough my dear, I hope Mathilda doesn't come yet, you need to be strong and healthy for what lies ahead. Glad to hear dh is doing the tickets sold out speach and you don't have to.

Pebble, 5th thats pretty good, bless him, I bet he was tired.

Annemme and cam, I can honestly say that 3-4 was a tough age for Harrison and I. We really struggled to be friends at this time, he just pushed the boundries soooooo much that I really didn't know what to do with him. He spent most of his days sitting on the stairs. What I really wanted to say though is that he turned 4 at Christmas and since then he has been a different child. He is such a good boy at the moment, he's helpful, understanding, caring and very effectionate, I'm slightly worried it's because he knows the baby is soon to be with us as he seems to have become a little more effectionate to me than he ever has but I'm enjoying our cuddles and time together whilst I can. It gets better at 4 and then I think By 5.5 it all goes down hill again. Eeeekkkkk!

Scoot, Very, Very, Very well done on finishing your units. Did you get all your cross referencing done? I did quite alot of the LDAF units when I worked with L-dis, I hated the whole deadline in your own time thing. I used to shut my self away once Harrison had gone to bed. Ohhh it annoyed me!

Pinkjenny, your baby shower events made me cry. You and that baby are going to be very spoilt.
I remember with ds it was like that, everyone Sooooooooo excited, now we get "and remind us, why are you having a third" and "oh, well once you get to 3 it's been there done that and nothing is really important"
I think it's very sad for the baby, he/she is NO less special to us because it's no.3, why whould it be less exciting for the friends and family.

Cam, we play a bit of skittles when we are back in the UK, dh's dad enjoys it, nothing serious and we always end up playing killer which is such fun. Bloomin Noisy though

waves to AM

Morning all, hope you are all well.

SOH clearly you are going in to last few weeks prg melt down. I did this with Hugs, i lost my voice and got a horrid cold, it was because i was so stressed (baby trying to come early and ds#3 in hospital) I wouldnt listen and rest as i should have done. I took me till he was about 3 weeks old to pick back up again. You must rest.

Pink and mkg your showers sound lovely You lucky things, i would have cried too Pink.

AM little Ella sounds so good, you deserve a good baby after J. DH and i went fudge shopping yesterday.......

TMP i really hope your LO came out without any problems yesterday. Cant wait to hear all about it.

DH is going to take a piccie of my enormous bump later for you all to laugh at. It is comical, dh said it is pendulous now As i walk i swings the alternate way

We are off to toys r us soon for last minute bits. See you all later

Oh by the way well done scooter on finishing all the work

aprilmeadow · 29/04/2007 11:36

Glad that you are getting some sleep finally. You are sounding (if that doesnt sound daft) a lot more chiper! Will try and catch you on line at some point

LG&T - yuummmmmm at the fudge shopping

aprilmeadow · 29/04/2007 11:36

obviously i meant >

BefnalBub · 29/04/2007 11:37

Just added my 36 week egg/bump piccie too! Lovely fat back . Thanks for all the kind words re the BP - have tried to relax about it all and have started taking the medication...we shall see. Also have been lent one of those home BP monitor things to make sure its not white coat syndrome!

Had a party for 30 people last night - really good but really knackering. Everyone had gone by 11 o'clock - I was very grateful but also started worrying about my hosting abilities (secretly I think my parents had a word with my friends while I was in the kitchen .

Scoot -was it you that has the ear pains - I've had funny pains around my ears/where you expect your 'glands' to be up - feels odd and sometimes a bit painful when I chew. Gosh the things we put up with!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine today...back to bed for me whilst DP cleans up from the party.

I've asked a stupid question over on the meetup thread if anybody wants to help a confused country gal out.

DH has been utterly lovely today. He disappeared this morning (presumed he'd taken the Sunday papers into the toilet and settled in for the duration) for about an hour, leaving me in bed. When he eventually turned up it transpired he'd been to the deli and bought lots of cheese, bread, gingerbread, pickles, fruit etc and made a picnic. We've been to the broads for the morning (after eating yummy pancakes for breakfast made by his fair hands). Went for what DH termed a walk to try and convince Mathilda to put in an appearance. In reality it was rock climbing without the safety kit. Climbing up old quarries is quite easy, coming down again with a stomach the size of Mount Ventoux is not so easy. I'm sure DH was doing it for the entertainment value. Twas lovely though, wandered around, ate food, talked about next Christmas with a 7 month old, holidays we can take Mathilda on when she deigns to put in an appearance. We're going to take her to Devon next Summer as DH has never been and I absolutely love it. Was extremely happy, managed to ignore exceedingly sore mouth/tongue for a while and enjoyed just being me and DH for a bit. Altogether now

DH is at work now so I'm not ironing. I really must do some housework but I want to lounge on the sofa and watch the gymnastics. Might have a bit of a snooze and eat the leftover kettle chips.

BefnalBub · 29/04/2007 15:15

Just answered said question! NB if you are driving on monday, old street is just on the edge of the congestion zone so you need to make sure you don't head south or west from it to avoid the charge.

MKG · 29/04/2007 15:17

Is it me or is anyone sweating like a pig. I feel disgusting. I sweat while driving, sleeping, folding laundry etc. You name it I'm a fountain.

BefnalBub · 29/04/2007 15:25

mkg you are not alone! v nasty. worst thing is you have to wear black so it doesn't show! I took to using michum deo about 2 months ago, which helped somewhat!

aprilmeadow · 29/04/2007 16:31

BB - your bump looks very neat!

SOH - your dh sounds lovely! How very thoughtful and sweet of him. Would have liked to have seen the rock climbing

Looking forward to tomorrow

BefnalBub · 29/04/2007 17:33

thanks AM! had to endure my mum taking endless photos of it during my party last night, and telling me how large it was. had to try hard not to get angry as she had prepared most of the food for me!

cinnamontam · 29/04/2007 18:00

Hey all

Had a lovely smoochy lie-in with DH this morning, we made pancakes for breakfast then i went back to bed and slept for 3 hours. Can you tell I'm on maternity leave

Having said that I'm having to do an AM and go into work on Wednesday to help them with a few things then hopefully I will be off duty for the next 9 months.

Will now try and go back and read through the last 3 days to see what is going on with everyone

Hope you had lovely weekends xx

cameroonmama · 29/04/2007 18:05

Evening all, what a beautiful day it has been, we are so lucky at the moment!

April and MrsJB, lets set up a skittles team! I'd really like to give it a proper go sans bump and avec several glasses of wine It's good to hear MrsJB that the 3 year old boy thing will stop soon, usually he is such a sweetie and very very funny, its just when he is tired he turns into child from hell. Between the two dc I feel like I am answering questions endlessly, the latest ones are - why does a bee die after it stings you? Seems quite obvious until you actually try to understand it yourself! And where do submarines go when they are not underwater?? Answers on a postcard please...

SOH, your dh certainly knows how to cheer you up, what a lovely man, I'm sure he's going to dote on Mathilda too.

BB - that's not a ginormous bump, thats a teeny tiny hillock, you lucky thing.

ShowOfHands · 29/04/2007 18:14

cameroonmama, I love 3yr old boys questions. My godson is 3 and his way of looking at the world is priceless. He told me last week that his 12 month old sister can't walk very well yet because she hasn't eaten enough cake. When probed on this logic he explained rather exasperatedly that 'Mummy says cake and sweets makes us run round more, M isn't allowed cake so she can't run yet'. Perfect logic really.

And dh is lovely, you're right. He's the kindest, most generous, sweetest and most utterly wonderful person I know. He's driving me to London tomorrow so I can meet up with people off the Internet and he's going to make himself scarce and wait around to drive me back. I almost certainly don't deserve such a lovely husband.

Lwatkins · 29/04/2007 18:27

Ello Ello Ello

Have had a fabtabulous weekend with my sister, was so nice to see her. Went into the city centre yesterday and did some shopping before she got in. Got my nursing bras out of M&S and also got measured whilst in there. Came out with 2 lovely nursing bras - 34D!!! Yes you heard me - D! I actually filled them pretty well at the minute, but they still have a bit of room for a breast pad and some milk, cause in all honesty I don't think they'll be overflowing when it comes in!

Went to Primark as well and nearly got killed several times, note to self: Do not go near Primark on a busy, hot Saturday afternoon. The people in there are mad, no consideration for the very pregnant lady at all! Managed to get a cotton dressing gown for hospital bag, more sexy big knickers, a baby blanket, 5 white baby vests, a pink gingham baby outfit and 3 vest tops that'll be great for b/feeding for £20. That'll do me, so I think that's my hospital bag finished now.

Had such a nice weekend in the sunshine, lots of good food, shopping and my sister who is just the best person in the world. Had a right giggle with her, and she got to feel baby move. She's only the second person to feel her - bubs is VERY lazy! Am in an energetic positive mood to start cracking down and doing some work now. This time next week I'll be at home

SOH you must take it easier if you are feeling run down. Obviously your body is reacting and it's making you feel awful. Lovely to hear you had a nice day with DH, he sounds like a real sweetheart.

MKG and Pinkj glad to hear that the showers went all ok. Sound like they were great fun and you deserve to get pampered.

Scoot Well done for getting your work done lady, now you can just chill out and relax. Have a congratulatory muffin on me But still have my work to do. Nevermind nevermind. I'm feeling positive

AM and Lupins, both your babies sound very happy to me - what's your secret lol! Good to hear they are both doing so well and Lupins, ignore the stoooopid man about the dog. What else are you supposed to do, take it into the shops with you and hope it doesn't piss everywhere?

Cam skittles sound like loads of fun. I used to play it with my sister when we were younger. The skittles were all bright blue and yellow and the ball was red. Why that is important I do not know, caring and sharing

Mrsjb, another good nights sleep? I was up 4 times to pee, and 3 for cramp. My poor sister got trampled lying on the floor next to my bed several times!

Hello to everyone else, sorry if I missed anyone. Oh just think TMP will have had her baby now, ohhhhhhh. Heartburn is attacking me fiercly today, ouch.

twelveyeargap · 29/04/2007 18:43

Daktarin oral gel is great for thrush. I used it on DD (on GPs advice) when she was a baby and got nasty oral thrush whilst breastfeeding. It's not too expensive - about a fiver I think. Although, you sound like you're not doing bad at all today SOH! I would laugh in DH's face if he suggested a "walk" of any kind. I'm such a lazy cow. You must be very fit.

Actually, am just a cow. I brought DD to a party yesterday and one of the women there is due on the 10th and is HUUUUUAAAAGGGGEEEE. Left feeling secretly smug that I looked so neat in comparison. That's desperate isn't it? I'll go to hell.

Scoot, I'm thrilled for you that you've finished your studying. Bloody well done.

I have a very hiccuppy baby the last few days...

AbbyLou · 29/04/2007 19:19

Well hello there! I'm still here. Obviously the pains i had amounted to nothing - as you all predicted! I do feel a little different now, I have been having cramps in my stomach and lower back for about three days now and I just feel soooo ready - I WANT MY BABY NOW!
We've had a very busy weekend - no rock climbing for me though! We've spent the whole weekend in the garden and had a bit of a working party today in order to get ds bark play area fininshed and the play shed moved. The day started off bloody freezing but it was lovely by the end of the day.
Dh is convinced something is going to happen tonight as he has gone to his leaving do for work. He's been really good and not drinking at all but I couldn't really expect him not to drink at his own leaving do. He has been picked up and his lovely boss said she promises to get him stright back here if anything happens. The only problem then is getting in laws round here quick so mil can look after ds and fil can take us to hospital. He is one of those people who drives at 50mph regardless - it is so frustrating!
SOH I really sympathise about the migraine, I hope it's well and truly gone. I have had one must days this week and it's really getting on my nerves. Luckily I can fell them coming on and if I take tablets immmediately and lie down in a dark room with sunglasses on I can just about ward it off. If you remember I was worried about PE too but my mw says I am fine and it's just the good old hormones.

InTheseShoes · 29/04/2007 19:21

God, I am knackered and STARVING all the time - dh reckons it's because the baby is putting on his/her weight now, which sounds quite rational. I took ds to a party this afternoon and that plus a toddle (waddle?) around Sainsbury's this morning have finished me off for the day. I think I might have a completely lazy day of pottering around the house tomorrow and not go anywhere (except perhaps for a cake and a magazine)

Everyone seems to be having a nice weekend and making the most of the good weather and the chance to chill before the babies begin to arrive - SOH, I am agog at your physical ability at this stage in pregnancy - I feel like I am going to give birth just walking ds to school (approximatley 7 minute walk on the flat)

Just wondering when our first May baby will arrive (I know some of them have come in April, there's a certain poignancy to the first one to arrive in the month of May itself) - last day of April tomorrow!

scootermum · 29/04/2007 19:29

Hi all,

Thanks for all the congrats on the work-I do feel like a weight has been lifted-just a tiny bit of cross reffing to do which I will do in bed one night-so I dont even count it as work-but ended up typing CV and bits up that need to go in the front to tart it up last night, so its pretty much ready to be handed in on Thurs..Did you finish the LDAF then Mrs JB?-I might do mine when I go back to work, as I have some adults with LD living in my service bad its all another feather in the cap, but I need a bit of time in between Qualifications to recover!

Home now, only feel a bit sad as have left DD at her Nans till Thurs-the CM cant mind her tomorrow and Thurs when I need to meet my NVQ assessor so wouldnt have been able to do either otherwise. And quite honestly I have also come down with a cold and feel generally knackered, back killing, so the rest will do me good I guess, but I hate leaving her as I miss her very much..That said she loves it at Nans-they have been to the park this afternoon and she has been quite jolly by all accounts so clearly she doesnt miss me as much as I miss her, bless her..

Just off to pick up Chinese take out now-will come back on in a bit...

ShowOfHands · 29/04/2007 19:59

Scoot, you are officially very good. Meant to say earlier, you deserve a pat on the back/chocolate/cake. In fact I can make sure you eat cake tomorrow at the meetup! If I make it that is, we're driving down, should be entertaining...

Sounds like everybody had great weekends, Lwatkins I'm so pleased you sound chipper again after ghastly flatmates have made you so miserable just recently. You can tell how desperate you are to be around your family. Not long now, hang on lovely!

TYG I thought about Daktarin Oral Gel. Do you know if it's safe in pregnancy? Our pharmacist won't let you have anything when pregnant, even gets tutty about paracetamol and spatone. He is 207 though and thinks that cod liver oil is the answer to everything. I have found that ice cubes are actually pure nectar. I wish I liked icecream as that might stop my tongue feeling so sore. Migraine has gone completely- it's the visual disturbances that I hate, tunnel vision and flashing lights. I can stave off the actual pain with paracetamol and lots of sleep but I hate the foggy feeling you get for hours afterwards. Must be careful in the car tomorrow, lots of water I think. Lots of toilet breaks too in that case!

Don't be impressed by my physical prowess, I might be able to walk up hills but it's about as graceful as a tank to watch.

scootermum · 29/04/2007 20:22

Hi again,
Feel a bit better now have snaffled down a Chinese-seems to have cleared my nose and ears a bit as well!(funny ear pain though Befnal isnt it?-starting to get on my nerves)

Glad everyone has had nice weekends mostly in the sun..

Has anyone else been getting cramps in their legs at night at all?I woke up at 4 this morning in agony with cramps in both legs-have never really had one before so was a bit unsure as to what to do, except yelp a bit obviously..right leg still feels a bit odd..

DH has just announced that he will now be in Paris for work for 2 days and nights the week before I am due ..now I realise that im being a bit princessy, (especially compared to Cameroon with her international jet setter!) But I feel really nervous about it..Just dont want to labour alone, or worse with DD for company-it would scar her for life..

Looking forward to tomorrow as am going to make a day of it and do some pottering around town and see some friends for tea as well as the lovely LDN ladies..

Off to unpack and stick my head in a bucket of Olbas oil now-tomorrow will sit on the next table to avoid contaminating anyone...

largeginandtonic · 29/04/2007 20:30

Evening all, am very jealous of you all meeting up tomorrow! Wish i could come too, im def coming to the next one.

DH has been updating my profile piccies, i have the biggest bump, no doubt.

All the kids are back, it's lovely. I miss them so much when they are not here, far too quiet. We have been shopping today and got him his little bouncer chair. It is so cute, and yesterday we got him 2 very sweet little hand knitted cardy's in the Tavistock market. SOH you would love them

Talk to you all tomorrow, May approaches

scootermum · 29/04/2007 20:37

Know what you mean gandt--not sure what to do with myself without DD charging around..DH and I finding it very odd to be able to speak to one another without a little person shouting 'hiya', (her latest word) at the top of her voice at 20 second intervals

Perhaps we should look to arrange an en masse meet up, say for the babies 6 month birthday or something..it would have to be in the middle-like Birmingham-so everyone could come..I might write to Jim'll fix it!

Night all
