Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MKG · 23/04/2007 13:46

Hello all!. I slept like a log last night, except for my emergency pee at 1am. My sister is here and she is not being fun at all. I never see her and she invites her friends over to visit her. OK she never sees them either, but I would like to talk to her for more than five minutes at a time. On the bright side we are going to have the kids' picture taken today. She likes to do it more than me. She's into the matching clothes and all. I'd rather just photo them playing the dirt or something like that.

Oh well 33 more days till EDD. Will I make or won't I? That is the great question I keep asking myself.

Bensonbluebird · 23/04/2007 13:46

Dear All,

I had a surprise phone call from the fire brigade on saturday evening, apparently they now come and do a safety talk when you have gases delivered. Should be exciting... shame DS won't be around when they come. My gases are coming on thursday and the midwives go on call on friday. Hurrah!

This LO won't keep still, seems to do a pirouette on his/her head at least once a day, with frantic wriggling from me every time it is OP. It is lovely when they respond isn't it? I love it when LO arches his/her back to press in to my hand.

Sky TV, 39+3, your're so close

Pinkjenny - do you think you could sue Bugaboo for your groin strain? That's awful!

LG&T - thanks for reminding me to put Lansinoh in the bag! and congratulations on having made it to term

jellybellybump · 23/04/2007 13:48

You have to wear a nursing bra in bed???

Is that because you leak milk at night?

They never told me about that. Oh I have so much to learn in the next 5 weeks.

InTheseShoes · 23/04/2007 13:54

I ordered my nursing bras from Bravissimo due to my humungous norkage, and they don't even come close to fitting, despite me ordering at the size I am now. So I'll have to go to the shop, I hope they make them in my size! You have to wear a nursing bra in bed because they are sore/leak and you need a pad in.

Bensonbluebird · 23/04/2007 13:59

Jelly - I'm not blessed with enormous norkage to I wore a sports bra in bed last time, which I think is a bit more comfortable. I hate wearing a bra in bed too, that's just reminded me how horrible it is, and knickers too, euw.

cinnamontam · 23/04/2007 14:00

Hey JellyBelly - I've worn on to bed since week 6 cause my boobs were so painful and they aren't the perkiest things around. Got used to it now so basically it doesn't come off except for when I'm in the shower or bath.

LG&T - well done on getting to term. That's fab

Get SOH to edge past 37 weeks and then we are all an extremely clever bunch

Hello everyone else. Blah day here in Putney, put the washing out, now it's trying to rain. I'm sitting at my laptop with a to-do-list longer than the table and can't get motivated to do ANYTHING

jellybellybump · 23/04/2007 14:05

Well I guess it getting to the stage now that I'll have to start thinking about all things 'after pregnancy'.

Our NCT class homework was to do a 24hrs timetable on how we've spend this weekend, and how we'll spend the weekend 2 weeks after birth. I have no idea, except that there won't be a lot of time to sleep in there.

I just feel so unprepaired for everything.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 23/04/2007 14:14

hehe Jelly I remember doing that at nhs antenatal when I had ds.

Basically they are just trying to show you how time consuming a Lo is. I think we all forgot to add, us eating, resting showering etc..... after feed, bum change, washing, clearing sick and poo, dishes, it was time to do it all again so there was no time for us. we all came to the conclusion that we would just be a Hungry, Grumpy, Smelly bunch for a few weeks. LOL oh the joys of parenthood. Of course it never works out like that, there is always time,

LW, Forgot to say on my last post. The draining of blood is compulsary here in France every mth, it has nothing to do with being pregnant I am convinced it is that the dark, rich red stuff you see in the French's sparkling goblet glassed with everymeal, inc, breakfast is in Fact blood not WINE! They are all Vampires, Red has always been said to be an accuired taste.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 23/04/2007 14:18

Mothercare have started doing a night time feeding bra. i have bought two this time and they look much more comfortable, they are more like a sports bra, but with the nursing clips, not quite as much support but looks enough to hold a breast pad in place. Many a times have I fed dc's lying on side in bed, fallen back to sleep and woken a little while later with milk drenched, bed, sheet, baby's head, ear hair etc...... poor baby and very naughty mummy falling asleep with baby attatched.

OP posts:
Lwatkins · 23/04/2007 14:40

Right well will pop to M&S as soon as I can that way I can get measured and ask them to 'predict' the size my boobs will be when milk comes in.

Feeling very strange today. Have no energy despite a good nights sleep. Feeling kind of light headed and dozy IYKWIM? Feels like I'm on a huge sugar crash or something, I don't understand! Might just crawl back into bed and watch some films, have yet another lazy day of doing sod all. I also have a list of things I need to do that's longer than my body but I'm so not in the mood to do any of it.

My flatmate in the room next to me (the mental one from Africa) is playing really crap rap music VERY LOUDLY! You know the sort that only includes the words 'I'm black, I'm rich, I'm a pimp and I've got lots of bitches - check it!' You just know that the person 'rapping' is wearing trousers big enough to clothe all of Russia, hanging with his 'hommies' all of which are wearing gold medalions round their necks that look heavier than a building made of pure concrete. Meanwhile thay all walk round like they've crapped themselves grabbing hold of their non-existing genitalia before they all get shot by another 'gang'. What a crock of male, ego filling shite.

Grumble grumble.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 23/04/2007 14:41

Lw,

OP posts:
Mrsjaffabiffa · 23/04/2007 14:45

I am sad (thats sad as in an twot sad not crying sad) I'm sat here, refreshing every 2 minutes, ds next door, dd asleep, too hot to be out and I'm in pain.

Just a thought. PEBBLE, where are you? How was your Monkey trip and what about those possible leaky waters?

OP posts:
aprilmeadow · 23/04/2007 14:49

You lot make me laugh - i just wish i had paid more attention to my pelvic floor!!

I have the Mothercare night-time nursing bras and they are sooo comfortable. I got a 2 pack. Think they were around the 20 quid mark as well. Although do have a look on ebay for the regular bras once you know your size. you can pick them up for about a fiver i think.

LW, i have a thing of arnica tablets that i am finished with if you would like them. They will only sit in the cupboard forever and a day then. Drop me an email if you want them - [email protected]

Tam, SOH & Cameroon - awww how sweet at the tickling and bonding with babies. I do miss that feeling of the bubs moving around and trying to figure out body parts etc

Sky - you are so close to your edd. Well done for lasting this long I wonder how Jess is getting on. I think its her dd on the 27th

Just waiting for J's girlfriends to arrive. I have been and got a cake and some party food and have flung the hoover round.

SOH, my brother had a gf called Krystal!! She was a half brain, although she was very pretty and had a figure to die for. Think she wore pixie boots....

aprilmeadow · 23/04/2007 15:01

We had completely forgotten how long it takes to get ready when you have a newborn. J is pretty easy and quick to get ready now that he can fetch his coat and shoes. Only thing i can say to you first timers is that however long you think it will take to get ready double if not triple it! But it is SOOOOOO worth it

ShowOfHands · 23/04/2007 15:25

Lwatkins, am assuming you've heard Dylan Moran's take on rap music- "I'm gonna f*ck you up. I'm gonna dig up your dad, and shove him up your mum. I'm gonna drink your blood?" Doesn't he say that he's not implying that the music is rubbish but that you could dip a broom in brake fluid, shove the other end up his arse, stick him on a trampoline, in a moving lift, and he would write a better song on the walls? Probably only funny if you've seen him talk about trying to get home with the downies!

I've taken to heart his 'all children are mini-drunks' too.

If everybody on here has no idea what I am talking about, you must watch Dylan Moran's stand up. Especially you TYG.

Pebblemum · 23/04/2007 15:33

Afternoon all,

We had a great time at Monkey World, all the kids enjoyed themselves and they absolutely loved all the climbing frames dotted around (i think for ds2 and his little friend they were more fun than actually seeing the monkeys lol) The highlight for most of the children though was when a Chimp decided to eat another monkeys poo, they thought it was so funny but then again kids do like yukky things like that dont they. Luckily the weather was great (not like today) but we ended up spending a fortune on drinks and ice creams.

My neighbours spent the whole day watching my every move and if i so much as winced they all got excited thinking i was about to go into labour (it would have made an interesting story to tell bubs when she's older if i had lol), as it was the 'leaking' seemed to stop and apart from a few braxton hicks I was fine. I dont think walking about non stop for 9hrs was a good idea though, im totally knackered today.

Its my birthday today which is why i havent been on, we had planned to go out but as i said just now i have no energy. Ds1 made me breakfast in bed and Dh 'cooked' lunch (actually it was KFC so he cheated but at least i didnt have to cook )

I have read all the posts but for the life of me cant remember anything that you have all been speaking about, i dont know if its my age (im now an ancient 29yr old lol) or my pregnancy brain, maybe its both . I will now try to go back, read them again and maybe take notes this time lol

ShowOfHands · 23/04/2007 15:36

Oh many happy returns to you old woman!

AbbyLou · 23/04/2007 16:19

Happy Birthday Pebble, glad you enjoyed Monkey World.
Just need a bit of advice from you lovely ladies. Over the last 3-4 days I have been getting lots of headaches, a few of which have left me with disturbed vision. I didn't think a lot of it as I am troubled by occasional migraines which follow a similar pattern. However, now my feet/ankles have swelled up quite significantly and it did cross my mind that it might be something worth mentioning to my mw. I am due to see her on Wednesday, do you think it would be ok to leave it until then or should I ring her? I have stupidly been scaring myself by reading up about pre-eclampsia on the net!!

InTheseShoes · 23/04/2007 16:23

Happy Birthday Pebble!!

Sorry to post about norks and then run before - had to go and have a lie down, feel very tired today, felt like I didn't really sleep last night. I am having mad cravings for fruit and veg (faints!) at the moment - loving fruit with Greek yoghurt and all sorts of veg - currently roasting a selection to have with cous cous and chicken for tea tonight. I think this may be baby's attempt to get some decent nutrition as the moment of truth approaches - as most of his/her intake has been carbohydrate/chocolate based for the last eight months...

I am really feeling the baby pressing down between my legs at the moment, especially when I'm walking around. Odd and rather painful really.

I have been extraordinarily lazy today, just a meander around the local shops (with a latte and a croissant in Caffe Nero thrown in)- apart from that been on the sofa most of the day, surfing the Internet and not doing much housework. I keep telling myself I will tackle the ironing tonight.

Glad to hear that all is well - can't believe that some people are days away from thier due date!

InTheseShoes · 23/04/2007 16:26

AbbyLou - I would ring the mw now - I'm sure that it's nothing, but just in case it is pre-eclampsia or something, you could do with being checked over. Give the community midwife or the antenatal ward a call now, they won't mind, people ring them for less. Hope everything's ok. xx

ShowOfHands · 23/04/2007 16:29

Yes ring definitely. It's almost definitely not PE but you need to make sure. Can you produce a urine sample now and get to your midwife/GP/antenatal unit?

AbbyLou · 23/04/2007 16:37

Will try the mw. Off course this is the one time I haven't got a spare sample tube, I was going to pop in tomorrow to get one for my appointment on Wed. Dh is at work until 8pm and I'm on my own with ds so I can't really go anywhere at the mo. I'm pretty sure it's nothing but you do freak out over the tiniest things don't you?

ShowOfHands · 23/04/2007 16:57

Of course you do. I'm sure it's nothing especially if you suffer from headaches anyway. Could you perhaps be a little dehydrated? I've found that I need to drink more and more as I get bigger.

The midwife found a slight trace of sugar in my urine last week and I panicked but she said it was completely normal and just that in very late pregnancy the kidneys have a tendency not to filter sugar properly. That and Easter I suppose!

FWIW my legs and hands are so ridiculously swollen that I'm afraid to leave the house!
