@Flatwhite32 same. How far along are you?

karategirl · 14/01/2018 17:50

Today I bit the bullet and ordered the yarn to make karatebaby's blanket. I've not knitted or crocheted anything since we found out I was pregnant - I've just not felt like it, and I wonder how much of that was down to feeling like I would be tempting fate (even though I would have been knitting for myself!). Looking forward to my enormous parcel arriving later this week containing mercerised cotton in 25 different colours! Not convinced it'll be finished by July, but I'll give it a go! Grin

Haven't bought anything else yet though.

Flatwhite32 · 14/01/2018 18:01

Just hit 13 weeks. How about you @Winterfellismyhome? My last pregnancy ended in MMC in August (huge shock as all had been going so well) so I'm really anxious this time round. Finding it hard!

Alexandra87 · 14/01/2018 18:02

We will be finding out the sex. Not even had our first scan yet though

Winterfellismyhome · 14/01/2018 18:05

Im sorry for your loss @Flatwhite32 Thanks

Im 15+4 today

Winterfellismyhome · 14/01/2018 18:05

@Alexandra87 ooh good luck, its so exciting

Fancypants01 · 14/01/2018 18:09

I started crotcheting a blanket for the little one on Christmas Day whilst everyone was enjoying the drinking - almost finished it now! What colours are you thinking?

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 14/01/2018 19:00

Will be finding out the sex too, I'm even thinking about going for a private scan at 16 weeks.. plus means I get to check everything is still going ok.

Fancypants01 · 14/01/2018 19:12

@lifechangesforeverinjuly we’ve booked in for early scan on Valentine’s Day. I was in two minds re finding out but I’m really excited about it now... plus is means I get to see the little one again!

karategirl · 14/01/2018 19:23

@Fancypants01 It'll be a colour wheel in hexagonal patches, but I'm pretty slow so it'll take me forever. Hopefully I'll be able to crochet on the train again without throwing up! What does your blanket look like?

We won't be finding out - would rather have the surprise on the day!

Fancypants01 · 14/01/2018 19:41

@karategirl that sounds amazing! (Not the throwing up on the train part!)

Mines an ever growing square, it’s a mixture of colours, which has unintentionally turned out quite autumnal with deep pinks. I think it’ll be a pram blanket, it’s Aran wool, so quite thick.

Flatwhite32 · 14/01/2018 19:45

Is anyone finding they feel sick in the evenings? I have just hit 13 weeks, and can never seem to finish my dinner! I'm not complaining (after a MMC I'm grateful for every symptom!) but it is a noticeable pattern.

karategirl · 14/01/2018 19:56

@Fancypants01 Sounds great, post a photo when you're done!

@Flatwhite32 I'm more nauseated in the evening than the morning, but actually chucking up more in the mornings for some reason. I'm the same with dinner though, definitely have less of an appetite and some evenings have barely eaten anything at all.

Fancypants01 · 14/01/2018 21:57

@karategirl - will do! how do I post a photo? I’m very new to this 🙈

Alexandra87 · 14/01/2018 22:54

@Fancypants01 you just tap the little paperclip then the plus

Heregoeseverything · 15/01/2018 09:14

@Winterfell I've found out the sex and definitely recommend it - feel more bonded now I can visualise the little one and use correct pronouns or even name rather than "he/she", "the baby" or even "it"!

@Flatwhite32 My sickness hasn't had a noticeable preference for time of day, maybe slightly more likely to vomit in the morning, but many dinners uneaten or unfinished.

Minster2012 · 15/01/2018 09:40

Morning ladies, so my friend is now 12+3 with our baby and feeling ok, sickness abating which is great. We have our nuchal scan this Thursday & can’t wait to see baby again but are worried about the nuchal test for Downs & the bloods for the Edwards etc, for those that have had the scan did they say how long it is before you get the results and you did get the nuchal for Downs on the day didn’t you? With my health problems it’s a concern for us to have a child with potential health problems

Winterfellismyhome · 15/01/2018 10:14

@Minster2012 we had the bloods a week or so before then after the scan the sonographer gave us the results straight away. Had to have a 2nd scan as baby wasnt playing ball. Good luck to you

@Heregoeseverything im very set on finding out early for the reasons you've said

Minster2012 · 15/01/2018 10:41

Oh right thanks, no our scan is first 😕 with bloods taken then, so hoping that the results don’t take too long as we want to tell ppl!

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 15/01/2018 10:56

Be prepared for them not being able to do the measurements too - if all depends on how baby lays. Our little monkey wouldn't lay right so we couldn't have it done Sad

We've now got to wait until midwife appt at 16 weeks to have a quadruple blood test and then wait for those results to come back.

Minster2012 · 15/01/2018 11:02

To do the nuchal measurement? That would be bad! Don’t you get a Downs test on the bloods too? Could they not take bloods at that one for you? Why do you have to wait til 16weeks? Confused!!

Flatwhite32 · 15/01/2018 15:21

I had my 12 week scan last week, and it took the sonographer a while to do the nuchal measurement due to the way baby was lying. Luckily she managed to get it in the end. She did say if they didn't manage to get it, that they'd rescan me though. No talk of waiting until 16 weeks. Maybe it depends in the area you live in. After the scan, I then had the bloods done. Now anxiously awaiting the letter with the results!

Minster2012 · 15/01/2018 15:27

@flatwhite did they say how long the letter would take?

Flatwhite32 · 15/01/2018 15:34

They said up to 10 days, although I don't know if they meant 10 working days. I should have asked that!

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 15/01/2018 15:39

No offer of another scan - I'm in Leeds?

They literally said that they couldn't do the measurements and that a 'quadruple' blood test would be needed but this test can't be done until 16 weeks, which coincides with the normal midwife appointment anyway.

I'm across borders so my community midwife is different to the midwife I see when I go to where I'm giving birth - none of them speak to each other and tbh, it's driving me mad. I'll probably get to my appt next week and she'll have no clue she has to do this test and then not have the stuff or something. I might text her to ask if I should have been given another scan.

On another note, I've just booked my private gender reveal for the 3rd Feb! Grin
