Congratulations @thisone1 and I hope breastfeeding gets more comfortable soon! Your little boy is gorgeous :)
@lifechangesforever so glad it's going well and hope it continues to be smooth sailing!
No baby here yet (40 +6), same signs as for weeks and I've had a few more hours here and there of the regular contractions like I had a few weeks ago but they're all still in the front not coming from the back (which I've been told is how I'll know the difference) and they get closer and longer and stronger and then just die off after a few hours. But now it's cooled down I'm more comfortable so other than the odd period of pelvis or rib pain I'm actually quite happy and just waiting knowing the baby will come when they're ready (although I would like that to be soon haha).
Hope everyone else is doing ok either waiting or with their babies :)

lifechangesforever · 24/07/2018 17:59

The way I knew that it was the 'real thing' is that the pain seemed to start in my abdomen but it radiated really deep down into my pelvis and didn't feel like it was going to stop. It's weird but I knew from that one pain in the early morning that 'this was it'.

rebeccalouise1812 · 24/07/2018 18:32

@lifechangesforever that's exactly how these pains feel, and they last longer each time, if I use the contraction timer they get gradually closer together and last longer over the few hours they're happening with a clear pattern, and then they stop, driving me mad! I guess when they don't stop and I have a baby I'll know it's the real thing haha

InstructionsRequired · 24/07/2018 18:41

@thisone1 CONGRATULATIONS such a cute name! Have you tried lanolin for the sore nips? I'm using Lansinoh brand and slapping it on religiously after every single feed and it's helped no end.
Here's a pic of little Tabitha, we're completely besotted with her. 5 days in and I can't imagine life without her.
So excited for everyone waiting for their new arrivals, eeeek!

Hey ladies! @rebeccalouise1812, you must be really frustrated! You are a week ahead of us and we are crawling up the walls!! My friend is having similar pains and we had a consultant appointment today to get our induction date (as ours is IVF & in theory we are meant to have induction anyway but we had to push really hard for a home birth initially) they don’t want us to go over 41 weeks especially as he’s also reassuring big...we now have an induction date of next Thursday at 41 weeks exactly if he doesn’t come before.

My friend had her second sweep today too, so one on Monday from the midwife & registrar today & really weirdly what the lady said today completely contradicts what our midwife said on Monday...she said he’s not fully engaged & her cervix is still v in the way & thick whereas our midwife said it’s v thin & hes v much in the right position??? WTF?? We are (hoping) & inclined to agree with midwife as they do it everyday but very disheartening 😕, but another sweep done & everything crossed it helps anyway!

@instructionsrequired I bet you are smitten she’s soooooo gorgeous!

It will ALL be worth the wait ladies!!

rebeccalouise1812 · 25/07/2018 21:17

@Minster2012 fingers crossed for you that this sweep works. Weird about the contradictory info but I would agree with you that the midwife is the one doing it day in day out.
I had an appointment today (41 weeks) and my bump measured small when it's been bang on the centre line the whole time previously so I've spent the afternoon in hospital on the monitor (all fine) and have to go for a growth scan tomorrow. Also means home birth is on hold until the scan so it's sods law I'll go into labour tonight and have to go to hospital haha.
Hope everyone else is doing ok :)

Sw19jo · 26/07/2018 12:42

Hi all! Congratulations to everyone whose gorgeous little ones have arrived😘
I was induced last Wednesday with just the gel and Oliver arrived very quickly into the world about 2 hrs after my contractions really kicked off in the evening with no drip!!
My 5 yr old was in a&e at the same time due to a head injury another boy gave him at school 😡.
Anyway, we are settling into life as a family of 4. Hoping everyone goes into labour soon

RaspberryBlonde · 27/07/2018 06:26

Congratukations sw19jo, glad to hear that your induction was smooth. Hope your older one is ok?

DS made a slightly unexpected appearance here just after 1am on Sunday, I only started getting contractions around teatime so was a nice quick labour. I was fully expecting to go a lot further past my due date as had very few advance indications. We were home within a few hours. While he isn’t a sister DD adores him although a few days in she is starting to realise that babies are a bit boring...

Hope things are moving for you minster, must be difficult when there’s a strong reason for wanting things to move along. Hope your treatment goes well and baby hangs on for a few more days now.

Minster2012 · 27/07/2018 07:01

Morning!

@Sw19jo what a little stunner your Oliver is! And also pleased your induction went well, we now have an induction booked for next Thursday.

Congratulations @raspberryblonde!! What a great labour too!! I’m sure your DD will get used to it and yes babies are boring to start with!

However, my friends waters have broken this morning at 2.30 after another sweep, but now not a lot is happening so it’s good we are over at hers now resting up waiting for things to kick off, and we brought the pram with us in case DS’s first trip out is to my chemo suite!! Just woken up one set of grandparents to tell them to go to ours to get our dogs to remove them for us!

Ooooooo want things to progress now!!!!!!

RaspberryBlonde · 27/07/2018 16:05

Exciting news minster, won’t be long to wait now that waters have broken!

rebeccalouise1812 · 28/07/2018 02:40

Congratulations @Sw19jo and raspberryblonde hope you're enjoying life with your little ones!
@Minster2012 hope everything has progressed and your well on the way to meeting your baby!
Our growth scan showed that growth had tailed off slightly so even though all monitoring showed the baby is absolutely fine and perfectly happy the hospital were pushing for induction which I don't see any need for so it's daily monitoring for now. Thankfully things seem to finally be getting underway though as I had back ache all yesterday afternoon and then started getting pains low down in my stomach on and off yesterday evening which are getting stronger and keeping me awake and I've just had my show! The pains (contractions? Don't want to curse it haha) are currently about half an hour apart so I'm not thinking anything is going to happen imminently but hopefully it's the start of things getting going at least 😁

Sw19jo · 28/07/2018 03:27

Ah @rebeccalouise1812 sounds like things are really getting going !!! Let's us know how you get on x

rebeccalouise1812 · 28/07/2018 03:53

Thanks @Sw19jo 20 minutes apart now so seems to be moving along! Can't sleep so I'm doing my accounts 😂

Minster2012 · 30/07/2018 21:38

Hi ladies!

Sorry for radio silence it’s been mental!!

So on Friday 27.7.18 after my friends waters broke at 2.30am no contractions then happened & we were discussing having to go into hospital for an induction (& I cancelled my treatment which was at 2pm) but at 1pm her contractions started literally 10 mins apart straight away, then on top of each other within 20 mins....and within 2hours of active labour our boy was born!!

The most amazing experience with my friends DD (9 just turned) even asking to help & touched him as he cane out & patted him down with a towel. He had his cord around his neck for all of 2 secs, & popped straight out, we did delayed cord clamping to pink him up, my friend cut the cord as we agreed then he was passed straight to me for skin to skin. Amazing.

So Xander Bryn Barrett was born at 15:15 weighing 9lb, my friend did the most perfect home birth with the midwife who delivered her son 6 years ago (on her last day before she went on holiday fir 2 weeks!)

He’s AMAZING!! And my friend & her whole family are so inspirational, we all didn’t time bonding for a few hours afterwards it was perfect!

I hope it went well @rebeccalouise1812

RaspberryBlonde · 31/07/2018 14:33

Congratulations minster, really pleased that you got the birth experience you wanted. Your friend sounds amazing.

Hope you are all doing well,

rebeccalouise1812 · 06/08/2018 18:18

Congratulations @minster2012

Sorry I've also been quiet for a while. The contractions got stronger throughout Saturday and we went to hospital Saturday night only to be told I was only half a cm dilated and my cervix was still not effaced at all. So came home very deflated and still having contractions too painful to sleep through but bearable. By 11pm Sunday I was screaming but they were still 6 minutes apart and I was determined I wasn't going to get sent home again so I refused to go in. Eventually my mum persuaded me that was a bad idea and by the time we got to hospital contractions were coming every 2 minutes. Got examined and was told I was over 9cm dilated and 3 and a half hours and a lot of gas and air later at 3:45am on 30th July we had our 8lbs5 baby boy, Harry! We were home that evening and have had a great first week with him as he appears to be the easiest baby in the world (fingers crossed that continues!).
Hope everyone else's babies have arrived safely and you are all doing well.

WomanFormerlyKnownAsKarateGirl · 13/08/2018 18:31

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been MIA for a while! Congratulations to everyone for their gorgeous babies.

I was measuring small at my 38 week apt so had a growth scan at 38+4 and was then induced for tailing growth at 39 weeks. I was hyperstimulated by the pessary, so strong contractions started really quickly but never followed a pattern. I was checked at 11:15pm, 5cm, fully effaced. Sent down from ward to birth centre and arrived at 11:45pm. From there things went really quickly and everyone was very surprised when Little Miss KarateBaby arrived at 00:17, just 10 hours after the induction was started!

We've had a few issues with fluid on her lungs, jaundice, refusal to feed and not putting on weight. She's 4 weeks old and still half a pound to go to get back to her birth weight Confused But on the plus side, I have gallons of milk, so am able to give her expressed milk to top up the breastfeeding.

What a whirlwind the past 4 weeks have been!

lifechangesforever · 22/08/2018 21:21

How is everyone getting on? I assume that all the babies are here now? Congratulations everyone! 💗💙 there seems to be a lot of boys lately!

Thea is 5 weeks old today and I don't know where the time is going! Fair to say that we don't remember what life was like without her though and she is adored by everyone that knows her.

We have had the dreaded colic hit us though but having changed her onto the MAM anti colic bottles, she seems to be doing a lot better. She doesn't have create when it's time for bed or a nap though!

Here's an up to date picture, not sure how much she weighs now but she's turning into a little chunk!

RaspberryBlonde · 23/08/2018 06:38

She is adorable lifechanges!

Four weeks here and generally going well although evenings are a bit unpredictable awith hours of crying sometimes and a very happy boy others. The sling has been getting some good use! The poor boy has had baby acne but it seems to be clearing now. Relieved that the hot weather is over as well so we can actually go outside.

Congratulations karate, I hope the weight gain is improving for you now? And you must be relieved for sickness to be finally gone!

Do we have a postnatal thread at all?

WomanFormerlyKnownAsKarateGirl · 09/09/2018 16:41

@RaspberryBlonde 7 weeks tomorrow and she's now pretty much settled on about the 4th centile, having been born on about the 25th. So pretty weeny, but growing as expected now. I saw my NCT friends on Thursday. KarateBaby was the first to be born and a month older than the youngest, but is the smallest by a long way!

lifechangesforever · 10/09/2018 21:36

We've just had our first nightmare as parents.. which resulted in 2 trips to the hospital.

Noticed last night that DD had a sizeable white lump on her back. Called 111 and they made us an appointment to see an out of hours Dr at 2030 - got there, he took one look and said we needed to go straight to hospital and see a paediatrician as she was so young and clearly distressed by the touching of the lump.

Got to A&E and the first nurse couldn't have cared less and basically said it looked like a bruise (we've been asked countless times if we've dropped or hit her, it's broken my heart but I do understand they've got to). Waited for Dr and she said she didn't know what it was but because she was otherwise healthy, we had to go to our own GP in the morning and then get referred to a paediatrician at the hospital .. which we'd just done. Sigh. Cue last night of watching her all night for any sign of being unwell.

Our own GP this morning said the same as the first, she had no idea what it was and it was concerning in a baby so young.. she called the hospital for us and got us referred straight away. We've been there all day and after having a few heated words with the Drs there (who again wanted us to go back to the GP!) they agreed to an ultrasound.

Long story short, she has a hemengioma.. which is basically a birth mark that is growing under the skin. It will get bigger as she does (she's had it since birth but won't have been picked up so tiny) and will then reduce in size again and disappear. She has another strawberry birthmark on her front which will do the same but was obviously a birth mark and therefore didn't induce our worry.

So, we're absolutely shattered now but she was the most wonderful little girl throughout, despite being in strange places, getting undressed constantly to be examined and an ultrasound whilst asleep! Glad it's all over now.

I hope everyone else is getting on well and enjoying parenthood. So hard, but so rewarding!

RaspberryBlonde · 13/09/2018 11:19

That sounds stressful @ lifechanges, especially bring sent back and forth to GP. Good that it turned out not to be serious though.

@Karate I think our babies birthdays must only be one day apart, DS will be 8 weeks on Sunday. I'm glad she is following a curve now. At least you'll get a bit of use out off the first clothes sizes, I've had to put lots away already. At least they were mainly hand me downs. DD went up a size recently too so the house is a bit over run with outgrown kids clothing!

Current sitting on sofa with DS asleep on my lap, he woke up the second we canned in from the school run and had been grizzling ever since. I need to attempt to put him down as desperately need to do some housework! Unfortunately we've got past the newborn phase where once he's asleep nothing disturbs him... I've been spending a lot of time attempting to do bits with him in the sling. We're doing well though and the novelty hasn't worn off for DD yet.

Hope everyone else is well.

WomanFormerlyKnownAsKarateGirl · 18/09/2018 20:49

@RaspberryBlonde I couldn't see a postnatal group, so I've started one www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/3369512-July-2018-babies-Its-a-learning-curve?watched=1

You're right, they're one day apart Smile KarateBaby is finally in her 0-3 clothes, but only because of her huge cloth nappies! If we were using disposables she'd still be in her newborn stuff. As it is, everything's just really big on the shoulders Grin

@Lifechanges that sounds so scary. Glad that it's all OK though.
