No ladies this is not TMI this is good, I need this to keep going I’m literally like a kid waiting to go to Disneyland or Christmas I’m mooching around like “well we’re ready, just need a baby now!” We’re scared to drive the opposite direction as she’s still 1 hour 45 away when she calls to say her waters have broken!!

@sw19jo she has 2 kids already, 9 & 6yrs, they were our page boy & flower girl & she randomly said on my hen do as I was throwing up from my treatment every day at that point “well if u can’t carry your own babies I can, I’m great at being pregnant!” And I said “let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!” It was 2 years nearly to the day when we did the embryo transfer last year! She gives birth quickly, 3 hours for both, and she lives 1.45 hrs away 😳

The midwife we have (hopefully) delivered her son 6 years ago in a home birth but is next on call on Monday so we’ll see!!

Lots of slime around then!! I really hope it means things are moving along for ppl, back pain is meant to be a sign too!!

Sw19jo · 14/07/2018 22:04

@Minster2012 I can see why you're worried then, very quick deliveries. I really hope it works out !!
Sounds like everyone's bodies are getting ready for these little ones to arrive x

Minster2012 · 14/07/2018 22:27

Ha! Yes, tenter hooks doesn’t even come close!

Soooooo exciting for everyone! Do we have names for those already with babies on here?

Winterfellismyhome · 16/07/2018 16:39

Sorry for going awol. 2 failed pessarys and an induction balloon. Hormone drip made me contract but not dialate so it ended in an emergency c section. DD also turned out to be DS! So an eventful few days. Good luck everyone still waiting

InstructionsRequired · 16/07/2018 16:52

Oh wow, eventful indeed, but CONGRATULATIONS @winterfell! How are you and DS doing?

Winterfellismyhome · 16/07/2018 17:08

@instructions we're doing well thank you. Hoping to go home tomorrow

rebeccalouise1812 · 16/07/2018 17:23

Congratulations @winterfell! Hope you're both doing well

Sw19jo · 16/07/2018 17:52

Ah congratulations @Winterfellismyhome such wonderful news xx

Minster2012 · 16/07/2018 17:53

Awesome congratulations @winterfellismyhome that’s brilliant!! 🍾🍾

lifechangesforever · 16/07/2018 18:14

Oh wow!! Congratulations @Winterfellismyhome I hope you're all doing well.

What a surprise that you have a DS!

Minster2012 · 16/07/2018 19:37

I hope both baby and Mum doing well and enjoying it @winterfellismyhome is it crazy???
Does everyone else know what they are having? (Hopefully?!!!)
We are having a boy
I am going stir crazy, he was measuring big so they said he’d likely come early, due next Thursday 26th & seriously hope he comes this week!

InstructionsRequired · 16/07/2018 19:57

@minster2012 Been told we’re having a girl but who knows now 😆
12 days overdue and STILL no sign mine is ready to come out. Had 3rd failed sweep attempt today (cervix still too high, firm and posterior) and next step is daily monitoring from Weds and possible induction but REALLY don’t want to be induced. Going to beg for an elective c section as if I get induced with cervix not ready chances are really high for instrumental delivery or emergency c section. Would rather just know what’s going to happen and get on with it!

Minster2012 · 16/07/2018 20:18

Wow @instructionsrequired 12 days overdue I feel for you! We also don’t want induction so with you there! 3 sweeps? Why are they failed already? Are they classed as failed at a point if the cervix is too high?

I know nothing!!

InstructionsRequired · 16/07/2018 20:25

@minster2012 to do the sweep the midwife needs to be able to get a finger in the cervix to sweep between the cervix and the amniotic sac, pretty 🤢 and can be painful but effective if they can do it! In my case, she could barely reach the cervix let alone do anything with it. 👎
I’m sure as this isn’t your friends 1st birth, her body will be fully prepared and ready for birth and shouldn’t need any intervention and 🤞 you’ll be meeting your little one this week!

lifechangesforever · 16/07/2018 20:28

Going for my second sweep tomorrow at 39+6, due date is on Wednesday and I really hope she's not going to be too much longer now, I'm so fed up it's unbelievable.

Last sweep I was told that I was 1cm dilated and cervix was only 'very slightly posterior' so really believed we were going to get somewhere.

Don't want an induction either, so glad I turned it down last week, although DD would have been here by now!

lifechangesforever · 16/07/2018 20:31

I did like in my notes where it says 'no limbs felt' made me chuckle for some reason lol. She was able to feel baby's head, which DH and I felt mad everything seem so real - shame she doesn't want to meet us as badly!

Minster2012 · 16/07/2018 22:03

Oh right I see, I didn’t know what they actually did! You learn something new! I hope your body kicks into gear soon, are you doing lots of bouncing on a ball and “picking up jigsaws” and doing the deed!! That’s all the stuff they kept saying to us and I know my friend is getting getting her hubby on board with doing the deed to get his oxytocin in to try & help!! 🙈🙈

We have a sweep booked in for her next Monday but trying to see if can get one this week instead to give more time before my treatment, after 2 kids the midwife had a quick look last week & she’s 2cm “but that’s usual after 2 births I’m afraid” but I did get a bit excited but just shows you it means nothing without waters breaking 😕....no limbs but a head i’d Get excited too!!

Damn these comfy babies!! Don’t they realise we want to meet them and it’s a heat wave & not comfy for you?!!

OhBergine · 17/07/2018 07:53

@InstructionsRequired poor you, 13 days over! I'm only 4 days overdue and getting fed up with being asked if anything is happening but bump is only measuring 33w though so don't feel too large or uncomfortable and am loving the heatwave.

To those who have had sweeps before 40w, how come so early? My MW doesn't offer them until at least 41w (and I've always declined them in any case).

lifechangesforever · 17/07/2018 08:06

@OhBergine my midwife offers them from your 40 week appointment. I had one at 39+1 due to reduced movements so they just wanted to see if they could get things moving seeing as I was at term.

Supposed to be going for another in a couple of hours but to be honest, I think the time has come - having what I believe to be contractions every 8-10 minutes!

OhBergine · 17/07/2018 08:08

@lifechangesforever ahh I see! Sounds like you won't need your second then! Good luck!

Minster2012 · 17/07/2018 09:20

@lifechangesforever that sounds great!! Go you! Good luck! Keep us posted, I need something to keep me going!

We have been offered sweeps early as we are very persuasive with our midwife who looked after my friend last time for a very easy labour, she’s had 2 good births he’s measuring big so they don’t want us to go really overdue (we have consultant appointment booked for day before DD to get induction date for following week if he’s not here) & also to try & encourage him out before my treatment.

For ladies in 2nd or 3rd births they can do them the week of due date so we have one as early as possible which is the Monday when due date is Thursday.

OhBergine · 17/07/2018 11:21

@Minster2012 this isn't my first baby yet my MW still won't do them until at least 41w Mark has passed. She's fairly ambivalent about sweeps though (doesn't think they have any effect) so maybe that's why rather than it being a local thing.

Minster2012 · 17/07/2018 12:00

@ohbergine that’s rubbish?! I’m not sure then as my friend who had her 2nd baby in Dec was offered hers 4 days before DD with no problems in east yorks region having gone 2 days overdue with her first but then had a really long 31 hour labour so she was keen not to repeat that and my friend is in West Yorks and our midwife is really accommodating just saying “yeah you had 2 sweeps last time and no problems so let’s just go for it!” & said the earliest she could have it was Monday (we are sneakily hoping she might agree to one this week but no joy so far!) so maybe it depends on the midwife too, my friend had the same midwife 6 years ago & have a really good relationship & straightforward birth then so I think that’s helped us

RaspberryBlonde · 17/07/2018 12:08

That is quite the surprise winterfell, did you have a boy's name or anything picked out? Glad to hear you are both doing well.

Sounds as though you may avoid induction life changes, I went 12 days over with my first and remember how frustrating it was especially as I was already the last in my NCT group. Fully expecting to go over again this time although hopefully not so far! Am really struggling with sleeping and actually finding a comfortable position as bump is all out in front.

Funny how much sweeps seem to vary, although I will see midwife on my due date this week she's told me she won't do one until the following week when I'll be 40+6. To be honest last time around they never managed to do one despite 3 attempts, the last one was less than 12 hours before I went into labour anyway.

lifechangesforever · 17/07/2018 12:35

Eventful morning!

Went to the midwife for already scheduled appointment and she did another stretch and I'm 3cm dilated but I've been sent onto hospital as I've got high blood pressure and protein was +2.

Been on the monitor and trace all fine, we're now waiting on midwife speaking to doctor but she believes I won't be going home and next step is to break waters seeing as I'm already contracting.

I may get my baby today!
