I have a planned induction for Wednesday ! I just want to talk over and d be with now.
Have you tried some raspberry leaf tea and lots of walking??

InstructionsRequired · 12/07/2018 19:47

We may have ours on the same day then if they scare me into the induction @sw19jo!
Haven’t tried more than a few mugs of the tea but have been eating dates and pineapple almost daily and have been really active - walking between 12,000 and 20,000 steps every day, sometimes leaving the dog at home to get a proper power walk on, going to the gym to do weights and swimming almost every day too... been going up and down the stairs loads, sideways sometimes as that’s supposed to help... she’s just super comfy!
Had a failed sweep (closed cervix, so couldn’t do anything) last week, had another today and she said there’s a slight improvement now but still a long way off.

Sw19jo · 12/07/2018 19:51

Oh poor you!!! I just waddle at the moment I couldn't walk anywhere near 20,000 steps!! Baby is right down low in the pelvis. I am being induced as my husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer last week and they need to get on with his treatment, so will be induced at 38/40. Have more raspberry leaf!!! Nipple stimulation and they say lots of sex.
I was induced with my first, it is really not that bad xx

InstructionsRequired · 12/07/2018 21:17

Oh no @sw19jo I’m so sorry to hear that. Not that there is ever a good time, but you guys must be going out of your minds. I really hope you have lots of support around you to help with you both while he’s going through the treatment and with a newborn in tow. Wow, that certainly puts my silly induction worries into perspective. Sending speedy recovery wishes your way xx

Winterfellismyhome · 12/07/2018 21:19

Best wishes to you and DH @sw19jo Flowers

Sw19jo · 12/07/2018 21:28

Thank you so much!! It has truly been a hell of a few weeks waiting for biopsy results and scans etc, plans of action. I almost forgot I was having a baby at work be point we were so focused on the other half. He's only 39 fit, well and doesn't tick any boxes for risk factors.
Induction can be scary, having a baby is scary. I have done it before and still few apprehensive about next week. Looking forward to hearing everyone's good news when they all start arriving xx

lifechangesforever · 12/07/2018 22:06

I'm so sorry to hear that @Sw19jo thinking of you and your family. Thanks

Went to hospital today with reduced movement - was given a sweep, which was successful and I'm 1cm dilated, the monitor picked up tightening too. Midwife seems to think things may get going over the next few days!

I think I'm in early labour - having period like pains and stomach goes really right but there's no pattern to them at the moment.

I was offered an induction today but I turned it down, not really sure why they offered as they're more than happy with baby and I so I think I made the best choice - I hope so!

rebeccalouise1812 · 12/07/2018 22:32

So sorry to hear about your husband Sw19jo. I know everyone has a cancer story to share but positive ones can sometimes help! My dad was also diagnosed with bowel cancer about 10 years ago when he was in his late 40s, also fit and healthy with no risk factors, and he has made a full recovery and is now enjoying an active and happy early retirement so I will keep my fingers crossed for the same for your husband.
My due date is Wednesday so I'm also hoping for an appearance that day (or before!) although I've had no signs since the false alarm last weekend so not holding out much hope unfortunately.
Hope you get to meet your little one soon amd aren't kept waiting too long lifechangesforever! And good luck to everyone with sweeps and inductions booked :)

Winterfellismyhome · 12/07/2018 22:34

Currently sitting in hospital waiting for a second pessary to work!

lifechangesforever · 12/07/2018 22:39

Fingers crossed @Winterfellismyhome !! Have you been there a while then?

Winterfellismyhome · 12/07/2018 22:49

I came in yesterday for reduced movements and they basically said theres no point keeping baby in. Im over 41 weeks. Induction started yesterday at half 6. But its so boring

lifechangesforever · 13/07/2018 03:46

I can imagine!! Maybe that's why I was offered induction too then, however I'm only 39+3 and with her saying that everything was looking well for labour to start, I thought best to say no at that point.

However, it seems that whatever I thought was happening last night has completely stopped now!!

Sw19jo · 13/07/2018 10:18

Thank you @rebeccalouise1812 any positive stories are great to hear.
Induction is a long process @Winterfellismyhome but ask for an epidural early if you need it, the drip makes the contractions really intense.
Thinking of you x

Just catching up with the thread .

So sorry to hear about your husband sw19jo, of course there's never a good time for that kind of news but this must be really hard. I hope that the treatment goes well once it begins.

Wintefell hope that things progressed since you last posted and baby is now here.

Sounds like things may be moving for you soon lifechanges, think I would've made the same call on induction at only 39 +3. I've been having similar in terms of cramps but think it's mainly just late pregnancy discomfort.

Had a really unreassuring midwife appointment earlier in the week where student midwife said she thought baby may be back to back, so have been doing lots of bouncing on ball etc. Actual midwife checked my measurements (which student got way out) but not that. I have another check on Thursday which is my due date but just annoying.

lifechangesforever · 14/07/2018 16:48

Well the sweep didn't get her going - looks like she's comfy where she is, although bump seems to have dropped somewhat today.

30th birthday tomorrow - let's see if she leaves me in leave or gives me a lovely birthday present!

Minster2012 · 14/07/2018 20:35

Hey I’ve found you! Been trying to find the thread for ages!!

Glad to hear there are some babies if not many yet!

Sorry to hear your cancer news sw19jo I know that I probably haven’t popped up whilst you’ve been on the thread but I have stage 4 “terminal” metastatic skin cancer and have had that since 2011 now & its very well managed by amazing immunotherapy which I can’t stop to carry my baby so my fab best friend is currently the one suffering like a loony with our PFB miracle boy at 38+2 & I’m going crazy wanting him to come now!! So there is much hope with these treatments, I have had 3 groundbreaking treatments that weren’t around 10 years ago in 7 years & now tumours in total remission! We’ll be those crazy fools entertaining everyone in chemo suites with squishy newborns!!

I’m going crazy I bet everyone else is I don’t know how you bear this heat?! My friend has said she is wiping mucus so we think it may not be far off but really who knows?! Driving me nuts!! I salute you all 🙈🙈

Minster2012 · 14/07/2018 20:36

@lifechangesforever I hope she arrives!! It was my birthday on the 11th and I was sooo hoping he arrived but no joy, I hope your little girl makes her entrance!!

Sw19jo · 14/07/2018 20:54

@Minster2012 what a truly amazingly no woman you are!! To be going through cancer treatment for that long is unbelievable. So much hope and faith in your journey. I hope your little arrives safe and sound soon!! Xx

Minster2012 · 14/07/2018 21:11

Ha ha @sw19jo I’m not incredible as I’m sure you and you OH are just doing the same...you just knuckle down & keep going! Been on current immunotherapy for 3 years beginning of August, I’m lucky, it’s a well oiled (but oh so boring) routine now every 3 weeks for half a day following bloods the day before but the hospital is 1hour 45 mins away each way so that makes it harder with a newborn. And oh yeah the due date is the day before my next treatment so that’s awkward...if my friend goes into labour when I’ve left for my journey to my hospital (we are having home birth at hers 1 hour 45 away in slightly other direction!) which is 35 mins from my hospital...my treatment takes 2 hours but can be up to 2 hours delayed so I don’t want to go have my treatment as I could miss the birth but my OH wants me to have it. I will forgo it to see my son born. My treatment can’t be on any other day.

Decisions.
My mind is made up, unless I’m in the hospital for my chemo and can physically tell them to hurry up I won’t have it.

Anyways I digress, there is lots of hope for your OH! Xxx

lifechangesforever · 14/07/2018 21:21

Last toilet visit resulted in wiping away some jelly like / slimy substance (so sorry for the TMI!) it was very, very faint yellow and had no smell to it. I'm guessing it was mucus plug, rather than waters?

I've put a maternity pad on to see if anything else comes away and how much. Didn't know whether I need to call the ward but from what I've read online (which is a lot) it seems this is the plug and waters are just essentially 'water' and there would be a lot more of it?

Minster2012 · 14/07/2018 21:26

Yes that’s what my friend has been wiping for a day or so now @lifechangesforever should be some of your mucus plug so if you keep active on a ball then perhaps it won’t be long!

Sw19jo · 14/07/2018 21:30

@Minster2012 percentage wise very few babies are actually born on their due date so I think that you will be able to have your treatment and still be around for the Amazon my arrival of your baby !!!! What an amazingly big thing your friend is doing. Has she got her own children?? If so she will know how quickly she has delivered before etc. I am sure it will all work out for you xx

Sw19jo · 14/07/2018 21:33

@lifechangesforever yes I have had that is smallish amounts for a few days, with period pains and back aches in the evenings.
Loads of tightenings too, but nothing painful x

rebeccalouise1812 · 14/07/2018 21:44

I've also been having the jelly slime for a few weeks now I'm fairly substantial quantities every time I wipe (sorry also tmi). The midwife said it may be the plug or may just be increased discharge as labour gets nearer.
@Sw19jo I have the period pains and back ache and tightening but not painful too.
Hopefully all of these things mean something is happening for all of us!

lifechangesforever · 14/07/2018 21:49

Definitely lots of period pains! I would have usually given into the paracetamol by now if it was time of the month but I feel like I want to actually feel and assess these pains 🙈 thanks ladies, definitely sounds like the plug - at least it's something!
