Just left the hospital, they said baby is fine and heartbeat monitoring was good.

It's suspected preeclampsia so I've got to go to the hospital every week for monitoring now and they'll assess as we go along. Back on Friday unless the bloods & urine I had taken today show up anything major and then it's back tomorrow otherwise!

So, a stressful day but all is essentially ok - just a few more trips to hospital than planned now.

Thanks ladies Smile

RaspberryBlonde · 20/06/2018 20:28

Glad you are ok lifechanges, that must've been a scare for you. Good you are being monitored though and fingers crossed everything goes smoothly from here.

InstructionsRequired I am so impressed you are still making it to the gym! Walking up the stairs too fast is making me breathless half the time. I was too knackered to do anything energetic in the first trimester and by the time I got over that bump was getting in the way of running which I used to do. I'm doing swimming every week or so but looking forward to being able to move normally again!

NotEnoughHandCreamInTheWorld · 20/06/2018 22:02

Haven't been on here much, but it's nearly July and I'm getting a bit nervous so looking around for some support! Anyone else due early July? My due date is the 1st, but not convinced she'll wait that long though.
Had my 38 week appointment today, and that will hopefully be the last time I see my midwife until I give birth!? Agh. Small is head down and 4/5 engaged, so getting ready.
We have a birth pool and the box of home birth bits and bobs sitting in the back room ready to go.
Feeling all a bit real now ....
And tired. I'm so tired.

DirtyThirties · 21/06/2018 02:12

@lifechanges good news that you were allowed home and they are keeping an eye on you. What a worry these babies are Confused

@notenough how exciting you are probably our earliest due date, I am 3 weeks behind you so unfortunately can't share any experiences but following with interest!

lifechangesforever · 21/06/2018 07:45

Was in the hospital again last night with reduced movements - there until 1am. Midwife couldn't get her to 'wake up' so although heart rate and other obs were perfect, we were on the monitor for a good hour trying to get her to move! Little madam had definitely woken up when I got home and in bed though Envy

They've referred me for a scan, so that will be either tomorrow or Monday (hoping tomorrow seeing as I need to go back anyway!) but they're not overly concerned. I was a wreck though. Glad for the opportunity for a scan though, just to see her position (midwives we're arguing over her being beech or head down the other day!) and if she's really as big as she's measuring.

It's another month for me yet too, due 18th but I am getting very nervous! I wonder when the first announcement on here is going to be?!

Sw19jo · 21/06/2018 17:58

@lifechangesforever glad you are home and movements are coming back. It's always worrying when they have a sleepy day.

I have finished work today at 34+2, seems early but I am in so much pain in my hips, and so tired from not sleeping properly I think the time is right.
Starting to worry about weird things now, like will there be something wrong with the baby that no one has picked up, or what if something happens.
Am going to try Raspberry leaf tea from 37/40 and fingers crossed it may bring things on a bit sooner x

InstructionsRequired · 21/06/2018 20:21

Oh no @lifechanges you must have been so worried. Hope you get the scan tomorrow for peace of mind and to see your little one again.
I’ve been measuring big throughout and finally had a growth scan last week to be told by the she’s looking ‘boringly average’ which was a relief.
38+1 here and baby is fully engaged, bump has dropped and feeling a hell of a lot of pressure in pelvis. Also been getting dull period pains every day this week and hoping it’s a sign she’s going to make an appearance before due date but imagine that’s wishful thinking! Haven’t had any Braxton Hicks (that I know of) so really worried of not knowing when in labour but friends with babies have reassured that it will be very obvious when it’s happening 😬
Last day at work tomorrow, bring on mat leave!!

lifechangesforever · 21/06/2018 21:11

It was worrying but the midwives were soooo lovely on both visits, it's kind of helped me in a way to think about labour and that it's not going to be as scary as I'm making it out to be.

Scan is tomorrow - can't wait to see her again, although not sure how much of her I'll actually see, she's 1/5 engaged (from reading my notes so that's the answer to that question about position). DH has to work away tomorrow so he's pretty upset he can't come.

Bump seems to have dropped today too. Sounds like you may be meeting your little one soon to me!

RaspberryBlonde · 22/06/2018 06:58

Sounds like little one has been giving you a stressful week lifechanges. Hope that all looks good on your scan today.

36 + 1 here and nothing much else to report. Increase in Braxton Hicks this week but otherwise feeling pretty well. Have been saying goodbye to quite a few work colleagues as several are on holiday next week when I finish, two of them told me that their partners are expecting babies later in the year as well which was lovely news.

NotEnoughHandCreamInTheWorld · 22/06/2018 22:12

Eep I don't want to be first!!

@instructions sounds like things are getting ready. You'll know when labour starts, well maybe not always when it starts, but when it is established you'll know, and that is more important.

Is there a facebook group for the July babies? I want to see pictures when they start arriving!

Currently trying to sleep sitting up as I have horrendous heartburn despite gallons of Gaviscon. Sigh. I'm so tired as well 🙄

NotEnoughHandCreamInTheWorld · 22/06/2018 22:13

@lifechanges pleased to hear all well despite the scare. They can be terrifying these babies!

InstructionsRequired · 23/06/2018 12:18

@lifechangesforever how did you get on with the scan?

lifechangesforever · 24/06/2018 06:07

All good - she's measuring bang on the 50th percentile and approx weight now is 6lb 6oz so looks like she's going to be a good weight by birth time.

All blood flow and fluid levels were fine. Was a bit strange just seeing her body in there and no head because she's fully engaged now Grin she did give me a wave though!

Had my baby shower yesterday - was a very full on but lovely afternoon. I was absolutely shattered by the end of it!

karategirl · 24/06/2018 20:51

Hello everyone. I've not been around for a few weeks because, well, life...

36 weeks today. I've had a full-on weekend, and have booked tomorrow off work (so glad!) and then finish on Friday. Honestly cannot wait. Not looking forward to four more days of commuting on a train in a heat wave, though Confused

I'm still measuring slightly small. We had NCT yesterday, and I think that I'm due first out of our group, but was definitely one of the smallest. Bump is totally solid though, so I'm pretty confident that everything that's there is baby!

Had a scan on Thursday to check for placenta praevia, but it's moved out of the way so all good to go for a vaginal birth at the midwife led unit, which I'm really relieved about. We also know for certain karatebaby is head down, which is obviously good news.

Any ideas for must haves/nice to haves for the hospital bag? All my stuff is just being collected on the dining table at the mo. They suggested at NCT having the birth partners pack the bag so they know where everything is and you don't have to direct them to stuff, which seemed like a really good idea to me.

Sw19jo · 24/06/2018 21:43

@karategirl I really recommend going to Tesco and buying a 5 pack of large granny/full brief pants. Also some cheap nighties to give birth in. Snacks, snacks and more snacks with lots of drinks, your snack bag in almost as important as your hospital bag.i found a flannel useful, when pushing I wanted it cool on my face. The big massive sanitary towels, none of the thin night time towels. A pair of flip flops.
I also took a box of paracetamol and Ibuprofen so when I was on the postnatal Ward I could do my own pain relief and just tell the midwives when I took it, as otherwise had to wait for ages for pain relief. Xx

lifechangesforever · 24/06/2018 22:01

After last week, my hospital bag suitcase is firmly in the car, alongside baby's bag, DH's bag and the car seat. I have managed to go to hospital twice without my notes though and had to turn back home again!

I've packed:
XL knickers
Bikini top (thinking of water birth)
Flip flops
Towels
Small toiletries for showering after and also been told to make sure that I have lip balm as wards can really dry your lips out
Flannel
Primark nighties
Really soft and baggy pyjamas (for staying in hospital) and an big oversized night shirt
Breast pads
Nipple cream
Maternity pads
Wet toilet tissue
Water mist spray
Handheld fan
Small bin bags - for dirty clothes etc.
Socks
Slippers
Phone charger
Paracetamol
Nursing bra

DH has been in charge of drinks and snacks so they're in his bag (I hope!).

DD's bag has:
Nappies
Cotton wool
6 baby grows - a couple of different sizes
Coming home outfit
Hats and mittens
Muslin cloths
Blanket
6 baby vests
2 cardigans

It all seems way over the top now.. I suppose I'll learn my lesson if so!

Do I need to take bottles/formula in, in case breastfeeding doesn't take straight away?

Wingingitdaily · 24/06/2018 23:23

I've posted before but mainly lurked. My DS was due the 1st July but arrived today as I was induced due to concerns he had stopped growing. He weighs 5lb15 so is a little small for gestation but hasn't needed any extra help.

Good luck to every one getting ready all the babies will be arriving soon it's so exciting Smile

RaspberryBlonde · 25/06/2018 06:51

Hello karate, was wondering how you were getting on. Think you're a London commuter as well? If so am very jealous you have got today off, I will survive the Tube this morning I think but not so sure about tonight! Am going to leave a bit early.

I'm must finish off hospital bag, DH is meant to be providing spare phone charger plus a spare shirt/pants for himself but hasn't! Would a add to Lifechanges a few cheap flannels, as cleaning meconium with cotton wool can be a bit...challenging. Also have spare set of clothes for me and a book, although only because I rarely go anywhere without one!

Congratulations wingingit, exciting that things are starting to happen on the thread...hope your DS is doing well. My niece was born at about that weight and gestation and moved up centiles quickly so sure he will do well.

lifechangesforever · 25/06/2018 07:37

Ahh congratulations!! @Wingingitdaily ThanksThanksThanks

InstructionsRequired · 25/06/2018 08:56

CONGRATULATIONS @wingingitdaily Hope you and your little boy are both doing well x

karategirl · 25/06/2018 09:46

Huge congratulations @wingingitdaily! I hope you and your little boy are both doing well Flowers Bear

Hi @RaspberryBlonde I'm not London, but have a long commute by train into Bristol. Fortunately people have been really good about giving me a seat, but it's just been horrendous recently, and so many trains are being cancelled because of signalling issues. Leaving early sounds like a very sensible idea!!

Is anyone else still suffering with sickness? I'm still taking cyclizine, which was working really well for me, but the nausea seems to be back with a vengeance over the past couple of weeks. A colleague had the joy of watching me throw up in the street the other day as we walked back to the office, and I projectile vomited all over the hospital car park before my scan last week Sad Very much looking forward to this baby being born and the sickness ending...

Great ideas for the hospital bag. One of the things I made sure I bought was some spare toothbrushes and toothpaste, as there's no way I'll remember to pick those up from the bathroom on the way to the hospital... I think snacks and drinks are the main things we're missing now, must go and pick some bits up.

BeardofZeus · 25/06/2018 10:36

Congratulations @wingingitdaily !! So lovely Smile

36weeks today and first week of ML. Slept for about 12 hours last night as clearly exhausted and body needed the rest.. carpal tunnel in both hands is making my life incredibly awkward at the moment Sad

I’m the first due in my NCT class too and I would say the smallest as well.. got midwife appt tomorrow so will check on bump growth. What do you think about your classes @karategirl? I’m finding I know a lot more than others purely from hanging out on mumsnet haha!

Hospital bags are pcked and in the car.
I’ve mainly focusses on toiletries and big pants! I’m thinking of just going naked into the birthing pool but am not sure yet.

I’m feeling a lot of pressure in my pelvis at the moment and last night my tummy was cramping enough to make me make weird noises in my semi state of sleep that my husband woke me up to make sure I was ok!

I can’t work out if I have had any BHs.. mainly because when baby moves she likes to twerk, so the pressure is always high up but sometimes I can’t be sure if its her if that makes sense?

I just can’t wait to meet her!!!

karategirl · 25/06/2018 14:38

@BeardofZeus - Mr Karate and I seemed to be talking a lot more than some of the others! But not sure how much of it is the pair of us knowing more/reading up more and how much of it is just nervous chat :) I found the first session useful, although I do wish there was more time spent on post-birth than labour itself. I'm really not at all worried about labour at the moment - whatever happens will happen. I'm far more concerned about what happens when I'm allowed to take a tiny newborn home!!! What I didn't expect was to feel like the 'hippy dippy' one of the class, the only one sitting on a birthing ball, wearing dungarees and a flowery top, talking about giving birth without pain relief and cloth nappies!

RaspberryBlonde · 30/06/2018 07:11

Karate, I don't have the dungarees but fear I am also that hippy parent! Cloth nappies worked really well for us last time once we got the hang of them, hope they do for you as well. Sorry to gear that nausea hasn't lifted for you.

Finished work on Thursday which is a relief although a bit sad in a way as I like my job and colleagues and everyone was very sweet. I'm sure given a few days I'll get over that though! Getting a pre baby haircut today as I forgot last time and then didn't manage to get away for one for weeks.

Hope everyone is doing ok otherwise; I'm not finding the hot weather as bad as everyone has been warning me. Lifechanges hope you haven't had any more scares.

rebeccalouise1812 · 30/06/2018 21:04

Just wondering if anyone else has had anything like this;

Last night had faint pains in my lower right abdomen, about 20 minutes apart and lasting a few minutes each, they went on for the whole evening really regular but I was able to go to sleep and they didn't wake me up then were gone this morning.

Then early afternoon today my bump went really sore and tight for about an hour and then started tightening and loosening. Just uncomfortable at first but got more painful and more frequent until they were about 5 minutes apart and lasting over a minute each. The more severe ones went on for about an hour and I phoned my midwife to say I thought I was in labour. She said see how I go and she would phone back in a few hours and then it just stopped and I've had nothing but a few twinges since about 5pm. I also felt really nauseous whilst I had the 'contractions' but then absolutely fine (or as fine as normal anyway!) and able to eat some tea etc. once they had gone. I'm now uncomfortable with a few twinges but nothing worse than that.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this with this pregnancy or previous ones? I'm a first timer so don't really have a clue what's happening!
