Hooray! Bloods came back today and show no signs of slapped cheek. Looks like I escaped it!

InstructionsRequired · 14/05/2018 21:35

Phew, that is good news @ktd27

karategirl · 16/05/2018 20:31

That's a relief @ktd27 Glad to hear it's going well.

I ordered a 12 foot U pillow which arrived yesterday (Mr Karate very kindly didn't tell me, and instead just put it under the duvet, so when I went to bed I thought someone was already in it - and he was working a late shift last night, so I knew it wasn't him!) and I slept much better than I have been. I've been suffering with hip pain in my sleep, although not in the day, and it didn't wake me up yesterday, so fingers crossed it was a worthwhile investment!

Tried to bend over to clean the microwave just now. Apparently that's another trigger for Braxtons Confused

Sw19jo · 16/05/2018 21:05

@Ktd27 what a nightmare! So glad your bloods came back clear. It must have been so stressful.
I have been having horrendous hip pain, I can even weight bare on my left left and times and turning over in bed is excruciating. Physio has given me crutches but am too embarrassed to use them!
Getting daily Braxton Hicks at the moment which then sends me running to the loo to have my bowels open! Oh the joys of pregnancy

RaspberryBlonde · 17/05/2018 18:58

Glad you have the all clear KTD27. Is your DS better now?

Midwife appointment here yesterday, was sent away with an instruction to eat more greens as my iron levels are apparently on the low side. Good news though is that baby is quite happy (midwife's phrase not mine!)

Sorry to those of you with hip pain, touch wood I'm not too uncomfortable at the moment although am considering one of those pillows as bump is just in the way however I lie in bed it feels like.

We built the bedside crib last weekend, so just need to sort mattress now as am a bit paranoid about all of the instructions to buy new for each baby. DH has promised to start painting the nursery on Sunday too so we are slowly getting organised. Deep down I feel like I have lots of time though as I went 12 days past due with DD so am mentally preparing for the same this time I think!

Dollydaydream97 · 22/05/2018 00:18

Anyone else have a fear of giving birth ? I'm due July 14th and all of a sudden (today) this instant fear has hit me and I just have it in my head I'm going to loose the baby during labour ! I don't know why as me and her are perfectly healthy she's 4lb4ounces(roughly) already looking at 8.5lbs so a sorta big 🙈 But healthy weight ! ...I don't even know why I have this fear I just do and it won't go !

Winterfellismyhome · 22/05/2018 23:30

@Dollydaydream97 me! I have the exact same feelings. Wont be happy until shes here lol. 34 week scan today and shes 5.5lbs which is bang on target apparently. Nearly there!

KTD27 · 23/05/2018 11:08

dolly yes.
Totally understandable I think but the closer I get the more anxious I am that I won’t get to take my baby home. It’s something to do with the unknown and not being able to control it - for me at least. And something to do with losing our baby last year. I almost can’t quite accept we will have another baby somehow. Probably behind why I STILL haven’t organised this poor child’s clothes room or bed! I’m having a scan today so hopefully it will all still be lovely and I can get a bloody move on!

InstructionsRequired · 23/05/2018 13:26

@dollydaydream97 yep, you’re certainly not alone, absolutely terrified. It seems I’m growing a toddler judging by the size of her and with 6 weeks to go I am petrified. Nightmares are filled with forceps, episiotomies and all kinds of other horrors. NCT classes and all the ‘birth options’ chat seem to be making the anxiety even worse too 😫

lifechangesforever · 23/05/2018 13:36

I've only just in the past few days started to think about the fact that baby has to make an exit and at 32 weeks, it could really be any time now (although let's hope not!). Safe to say I'm terrified and completely unprepared. I am going to start packing a bag this weekend.

I am thoroughly fed up though now, I think I'll feel better 2 weeks tomorrow when I finish work. It's just such a struggle, especially with the heat at the moment!

OhBergine · 23/05/2018 13:47

Ah @Dollydaydream97 we have the same EDD. Sorry to hear you're feeling like that. Is this your first?

Strangely I am feeling very calm about the birth. Maybe because (a) this is my second and (b) I'm more worried about having two under 18 months 😲😬. I also hate being pregnant so am just looking forward to it being over.

If it helps, I had a lovely birth with my first. It was fairly quick (7 hours from waters breaking to birth) and I was lucky enough to use the pool, which I highly recommend. No tears, no stitches / episiotomy and I was home in a matter of hours. I don't tell many people this as when you have a positive story it tends to be viewed as smug.

KTD27 · 24/05/2018 08:28

Well another scan yesterday. Baby is healthy with good placental flow and no signs of fetal anaemia which is relieving after the slapped cheek scare. My consultant has signed me off as fit to fly to my brothers wedding this weekend too.
Baby is transverse though!! And 5lb 1 already Shock They had better get a wriggle on and shift into the right position soon! I have another scan in 4 weeks and if no change we will be booking in a c section. Fingers crossed we work out which way is down.

RaspberryBlonde · 24/05/2018 20:24

So pleased to hear scan was ok KTD27 and still enough time for them to turn around. Hope you enjoy the wedding!

Have 5 more weeks left at work which is nothing really especially since I work 4 days. There is unlikely to be anyone to cover me though until a few weeks bafter I go though so am currently attempting to compile a useful list of what I'm doing whilst also trying to finish it! It's not going too well. When is everyone else finishing?

Hope those of you feeling nervous are ok, oddly I am more this time than the first although think it's as much the logistics of managing DD during the labour as anything.

InstructionsRequired · 25/05/2018 15:56

Great news @KTD27 You must be so relieved.

@RaspberryBlonde I’m finishing work 4 weeks today and honestly cannot wait to leave it all behind for 13 months.

Still not at all prepared for the baby’s arrival, aside from a pram and nursery furniture finally on order, we haven’t sorted a thing! Still don’t quite believe it’s happening so soon but really need to get organised these next few weekends and clear the spare room to start turning it into a nursery.

Consultant appointment next week and hoping to get a scan booked very soon after to find out just how huge our giant baby is looking 😬

lifechangesforever · 26/05/2018 10:50

Has anyone had a health visitor appointment yet? Got mine the week after next and I'm quite anxious about it for some reason.

I think it's the fact that my dogs are unbelievably shouty and jumpy when someone comes to the house (they sound horrendous!) but as soon as the person has come in and said hello, they'll carry on with their day as normal - I just don't want her to think they're uncontrollable.

Winterfellismyhome · 26/05/2018 10:59

@lifechangesforever My health visitor contacted me to arrange a visit but said it wasnt compulsory so i turned it down until the baby is here

lifechangesforever · 26/05/2018 11:08

@Winterfellismyhome I did debate it but didn't know if it would be frowned upon 🙈

Winterfellismyhome · 26/05/2018 11:41

@lifechangesforever haha i know what you mean!

RaspberryBlonde · 27/05/2018 11:51

Health visitor appointments definitely not compulsory, round here you don't have one at all until you are discharged by the midwife post birth.

NotEnoughHandCreamInTheWorld · 27/05/2018 22:05

Sorry to hear so many of you are feeling anxious about birth.
I'm on my second, and had a lovely chilled first birth, at home with a pool and no need for pain relief. Its really important to hear/read positive births stories.
Have you come across the Positive Birth movemtn? She has a book which I am reading, which is really good. Would highly recommend for anyone feeling anxious about what to expect in labour.

Thisone1 · 28/05/2018 12:18

Hi everyone, I've been terrible at keeping up to date on here. Is there a facebook group and how can I join? I'm due 18th July and totally unprepared! Had fab support from the mumsnet group last time but found the facebook format much easier to follow.

Sw19jo · 28/05/2018 21:04

How's everyone doing. Am 31 weeks now and measuring 3-4 weeks bigger 😩! I feel like a heifer.
I am worried about delivery too, not the actual giving birth as this is number 2 and even though induced the first time it was ok. It is more the worry once I get closer to 40 weeks, anything over that I am totally not comfortable with, also being induced the first time I never went into labour at home so wonder if I will know, who do I call etc and when?!
I am a Health visitor and whilst no the visits are not compulsory they can be very beneficial, especially if you are feeling anxious. They are very used to dogs and homes far worse than you can even imagined me so please don't think they are there to judge you. Maybe just call and warn them you have dogs if you are worried. They can talk through a lot of your questions and especially things that you may not even have thought about. Also give you info on local infant feeding support which you may need before they see you for the new birth visit. They are there to support you not judge you. I am an HV and I am still having an antenatal appointment !! I know a lot of the info but it can be a really supportive visit and a great way to build a good relationship with your HV before baby comes xxx

lmx0 · 29/05/2018 23:33

Hi ladies mind if i join 😊 my little lady is due 26th July 💖

RaspberryBlonde · 31/05/2018 18:40

I think you will know sw19jo, this was my worry with my first but actually when I went into labour it was very distinctive and felt quite different from Braxton Hicks.

I have not been enjoying the humid weather this week, makes me feel like I can't breath. Hope everyone else is doing ok. Am also suddenly constantly hungry and having to force myself not to constantly snack. I worked from home one day this week and felt like I spent most of the day making trips to the kitchen!

Sw19jo · 31/05/2018 19:07

Good to know @RaspberryBlonde !! Saw consultant yesterday so feel happy now we have a plan in place for the end of my pregnancy. Stretch and sweep at 38 weeks and if doesn't work then induction at 39 weeks.
I have also been really hungry, just want to snack all day till about 4 pm then don't want dinner, also needing to wee allllllll the time 😩 x
