winterfell YES!!! Oh my goodness my fingers could sand off paint they’re that dry. Constantly putting on hand creams also dry lower arms too. So bizarre

InstructionsRequired · 17/04/2018 07:26

Is anyone else dreading it getting warm this week? I have literally nothing that fits me for hot days in the office 😫

KTD27 · 17/04/2018 08:27

I went to primark this weekend and just bought stuff in a bigger size. Needed cheap and somewhat fashionable. Am so sick of bloody stripes. So have some lovely maxi dresses which work v well for my bump and some long skirts with generous elasticated waists. Hate being too hot ☹️

lifechangesforever · 17/04/2018 11:44

Busy couple of days here, had my gestational diabetes test yesterday and full bloods and waiting on results now. Midwife managed to get the bloods this morning and my haemoglobin count has dropped, as had my iron but she isn't concerned as still within normal range.

How is everyone's measurements going (if you've had them) midwife has today measured me at 28 weeks, when I'm 26+5. She said that we'll measure again at the next appt and see how we are and then refer for a growth scan if the hospital agree with her. I'm not really sure what it means with regard to due dates etc. Or does it just mean she might be a big baby? Either way, we'll know more in 3 weeks.

How is everyone doing?

karategirl · 18/04/2018 17:34

I was concerned about measurements as I'm still very un-bumpy (although it's finally there now!) but I measured perfectly at my 24 week appointment.

Attack of baby brain today meant that I have left my glasses...somewhere after changing into my sunglasses. At the office I went to for a meeting? In the Co-Op? On the train or the platform? Who knows, but whichever it was I'm most irritated - I've never done that before in my life! Currently wearing my old pair, which aren't going to be the best thing in the long run, but I really don't want to have to buy new ones Sad I decided not to do any more work once I got home, in protest.

InstructionsRequired · 19/04/2018 17:07

@lifechangesforever Had 1st measurement today at 29 weeks. Midwife said all very normal, then noted it down in my book and is plotting almost at the 90TH CENTILE on the growth chart. Now absolutely terrified of birthing a monstrous baby!! 😬😬😬

InstructionsRequired · 19/04/2018 17:13

Also had the joy of being weighed for the 1st time since booking appointment and have put on a ginormous 15kgs... almost 2 1/2 STONE 😫 Going on holiday next week and think I’m in danger of getting harpooned if I venture into the sea 🐳
The thought of donning swimwear is actually making me feel pretty sick and I know this is going to sound awful but cannot wait for the baby to arrive to try and get back in shape. I realise priorities will have changed by then but right now I’m disgusted by myself!

HardyforTom · 19/04/2018 19:50

Hi Lovelies, am I too late to join your group? I'm due July 14th with my second. I wasn't sure if this was a closed group or if it was only for first timers?

Minster2012 · 20/04/2018 06:51

Ha ha, I’ve just been away for 2 weeks and can’t believe I’ve come back to the right country! It was boiling stepping off the plane, my hubby was complaining for a week it was pouring down now it’s tropical and can’t be good for pregnancy.

I heard on weds when I was away that my friend was in a car accident which was very scary for all, someone ran into the back of her. She is 26 weeks yesterday now & has bruising from the seatbelt & from the airbag & immediately went to maternity A&E & had a scan & checked his heartbeat and all was ok. The car a write off, very annoying & so terrifying no doubt, my DH just says he wants the baby out so he can protect it, he wants to look after it but obviously that’s not ideal but it was weird knowing something like that had happened to our baby & friend & being quite helpless but all ok

InstructionsRequired · 20/04/2018 08:03

Oh no @minster2012 that sounds horribly scary. Thank goodness your friend and your baby are ok. You’ll have your little boy safe in your arms before you know it.

Hi @HardyForTom of course you’re very welcome and not too late at all!

lifechangesforever · 20/04/2018 19:21

That's so scary @Minster2012 !! I'm always faffing around with my seatbelt now because I'm wary of the impact of anything were to happen but it's not very comfortable having it under bump.

@InstructionsRequired I'm terrified of a giant baby too 🙈 everyone keeps telling me how huge I am though too, which doesn't help! I was a big baby myself - 9lb 7oz Shock. I've avoided the scales so far, I absolutely dread to think whah I've put on.

I'm in absolute agony with SPD, midwife said she can refer me for physio but told me it wasn't very good as it's a group session, she also recommended crutches but I just said I'd see how I go between now and next appt at 30 weeks. It really is awful though, I'm in tears at some point every day.

It will all be worth it though 💗

RaspberryBlonde · 23/04/2018 17:28

Hi all, hope everyone is ok. We're just back from a weekend away for a family event and while it was nice to see everyone there were a few too many comments around the largeness or otherwise of my bump! I have my 28 week appointment in just over a week so will see how I go. Last time though I measured big all the way through and baby was just under 8lb at 40+12. I'm fairly small though so was very worried about having a giant!

Minster I hope your friend is recovering, that sounds scary enough without happening while you are pregnant too. Lifechanges I have a special clip which holds the belt under your bump. I had it for DD1 so can't remember how much it was. I think it's a BeSafe one but there are probably others. It's a bit useless if you're wearing a fitted dress but more comfortable than trying to place the seatbelt yourself.

Any luck with the glasses karate? That would hugely annoy me too. Having said that I almost did the same thing with my car keys the other day, fortunately someone came running after me with them!
I'm a second timer too Hardyfortom, think there may be a few others on this thread too. Welcome! How old is your DC1?

Sw19jo · 25/04/2018 20:16

Hello, I am due at the end of July. Second baby but fourth pregnancy. All my friends have had number two already and are back at work. So worried about being isolated ! Also don't want to be hat weirdo over keen women trying to make friends 😬😬

KTD27 · 28/04/2018 07:56

Hi jo.
I know how you feel. I did the NCT stuff with our first and made a few friends that way but nobody else is into number 2 yet and we have also moved area. Shall be looking for new mum friends subtly but not very subtly at all probably 😀😀

karategirl · 28/04/2018 10:18

@RaspberryBlonde No luck with the glasses, gone forever I imagine...

@Minster2012 How frightening Flowers How's your friend doing now?

I've now had a stranger acknowledge my pregnancy! A lady (who was herself standing) insisted that someone on the train should get up to let me sit down a couple of days ago. So grateful - it was completely packed and airless, no way I could have stood up for an hour.

I'm thinking about trying again to come off the cyclizine. I think the sickness has abated now - but difficult to tell while I'm still taking the pills.

Minster2012 · 28/04/2018 10:54

Hi all, thanks karategirl my friend is ok, she’s just got a bit of bruising but ok, ironically when I went to see her on Thursday a guy nudged into my back bumper!! Only touched it no damage but I was like what is it round here??!!

I felt our baby kick for the first time, weird, pressing down on her stomach but magical still, I know how your fellas feel when you say “press harder!”

@karategirl try coming off the pills maybe, it should be ok now?

Was anyone else worried what the royals would call the prince in case it was “their name?” We were!!

karategirl · 06/05/2018 16:24

Glad to hear everything's OK @Minster2012. How exciting you've felt baby move too!

I tried coming off the pills. Suffice to say, I'm back on them again...

Anyone else getting Braxton Hicks? They seem to be coming very regularly for me at the moment!

Sw19jo · 06/05/2018 19:16

KTD27 where did you move too?? It has taken us a while to get a successful second pregnancy after two miscarriages so everyone has had number two and are back at work now.

Sw19jo · 06/05/2018 19:17

Karategirl I keep wondering if I am having Braxton hicks, but not really sure what they are meant to feel like. Movement much more regular now, really active in the mornings then again from about 5pm.

karategirl · 07/05/2018 08:00

@Sw19jo I assume that's what they are at least! And when I mentioned to the midwife the other day, she agreed that it sounded like it. For me, it feels like a cross between period cramps and really really needing a wee. My stomach goes rock solid for a minute or two and then it passes. It's not painful as such, just uncomfortable really.

My mum came over this weekend, and she's really into photography. She took loads of really beautiful bumpy photos in the sunshine, I've just been looking at them this morning Smile

NotEnoughHandCreamInTheWorld · 09/05/2018 14:18

Hi all,
I did pop in months ago to say hello ... then you know. Life.
Anyway, how is everyone? I'm due on the 1st July with DC2. DS is 4.5. I'm mostly good, although awful hip pain. Had a physio referral and been given a girt great support strap which has been a life saver when wandering/waddling around.
I feel like a whale a the moment. Currently weighing about 16kg + above pre-preg weight which is no fun at all. I look/feel utterly ridiculous, but then had a day a few weeks ago when two people didn't notice I was pregnant due to me wearing a coat!? Me measured me just above 50th centile, so must be about right on the bump front. Ho hum.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi.

InstructionsRequired · 10/05/2018 16:11

Hope everyone’s doing well. Just came out of my 32wk appointment and baby (well, bump) is off the chart huge and measuring a whole 3wks ahead. Have now been referred to a consultant who will hopefully book me in for a growth scan and need to have a diabetes test too. When the midwife was having a feel she said it’s all baby, absolutely terrified. Going to beg for a c section if I do get a scan and proves the measurements right as the fear of birthing this monstrous baby is too terrifying. I know a c section isn’t by any means the easy answer and recovery would be much worse, but just can’t even imagine birthing a toddler.

lifechangesforever · 10/05/2018 16:21

Wow 3 weeks ahead @InstructionsRequired bet you are worried!! At least you'll know for sure when the scan is done.

I'm measuring 1 week + 1 day ahead again at 30 weeks but midwife doesn't seem concerned because it's tracking at the same pace (although above the line). I've already had the diabetes test too so can rule that out - I would like another scan though!

KTD27 · 12/05/2018 14:42

We have had drama here - my little boy has had slapped cheek! Why he couldn’t have caught it at any other time of his life’?! Honestly Smile so my consultants have an action plan as turns out I’m not immune. Blood tests and more blood tests then a scan in two weeks to triple check. So far nothing showing on bloods to suggest I’ve caught it. Crossing fingers it stays that way!!
Plus an extra scan so hooray!
jo we moved to north London. Very nearly the ‘burbs haha

RaspberryBlonde · 13/05/2018 17:34

Hope your DS is ok KTD27, fingers crossed you don't get it.

We're just back from a week away, incredibly we managed a week without rain given it was a UK holiday! Bed was so uncomfortable compared to home though so am glad to be back even though it was fun.

I was measuring 90th centile for bump 10 days ago, due to see midwife again this week but am expecting to measure big as my bump is all in front - you can't tell I'm pregnant from behind at all!
