I have the Silver Cross Wayfarer in the sand colour, I adore it - every time I go in the nursery I get little goosebumps when I see it. I just need to buy the base for the car seat.

RaspberryBlonde · 25/03/2018 19:01

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

I'm planning to reuse my Uppababy Vista from DD, although I saw the new version recently and don't think I would go for it now as it looks quite a bit wider than the one we have. At the time we got a good deal as they were discontinuing the colour. Sometimes worth checking independent shops if there is one near you. We have got a new car seat as we passed ours on to SIL.

Getting quite a bit of wriggling now, often when I am driving weirdly.

Haven't really thought about birth plan, think I discussed with midwife around 32 weeks last time. I may have to see consultant about birth options but having seen two different midwives they seem unsure whether I'll be referred or not!

I love those Cosatto ones! But they aren’t rugged enough for me off roading with 2 dogs & I just know I can’t keep them looking pretty so it’s not worth it for me 😕it’s a shame as I saw a whole travel system in a lovely fox print one I loved being sold off by Toys R us for £350 which was a steal! But still the wheels aren’t big enough.

Because I know from my SIL & my car/dogs I know I won’t keep a pram lovely & nice we decided to go as nice as possible but second hand so Friday I bought a second hand Baby jogger Premier which will fit with the maxi Cosi CabrioFix & isofix we have been given by friends (so know it’s not been in a crash), it’s lovely & the seat has never been used though it is heavy so we also bought a baby jogger city lite for towns & holidays, again in theory second hand but actually brand new £70

Serious nesting going on over here! Mum & dad wallpapering nursery next week with the owls wallpaper we have chosen 😁

KTD27 · 25/03/2018 21:04

We have a cybex Priam from DS which we will use again. Have the cybex cloud q seat too to fit its lovely.
Birth plan wise I have said I will go with the flow. I don’t really want to be induced again unless my bishops score is high and would love to have a water birth. There are two pools on labour ward which is good as I can’t be midwifery lead unfort. I’ve also said at any point anyone gets concerned or there are any issues with baby’s heart (our son has a heart condition) then I’d rather have a calm c section. The one I had with DS was glorious. Don’t particularly want the recovery with a toddler this time but would happily have another section.

lifechangesforever · 25/03/2018 21:13

We've pretty much done all the big things now. Nursery has been done for weeks and it's definitely my favourite room in the house! Just need a side sleeper for our room and bits and bats but that's about it.

Heartburn is currently killing me off though, and I'm having bad pains in my abdomen (like a stitch) and pelvis when walking the dogs - so much so that the MIL had to come pick me up because I was crying on our dog walk, need to start taking it a little easier I think.

Thanks for all your help with the prams ladies. Think we’re set on the Mamas and Papas Ocarro system after test driving a few yesterday, but my god they’re expensive! Was almost sold on a Bugaboo Cameleon after being given the sales pitch and seeing all the features in action but a handbrake instead of a foot brake doesn’t seem worth re-mortgaging the house!!

@lifechangesforever sorry to hear about the heartburn and abdomen. I get the same in lower abdomen when walking fast or up hill too but not as severe as yours as yet. Think our bodies are trying to tell us to slow down a bit but it’s really difficult in practice as still want and need to do the same things re do walks etc. So much for the 2nd trimester being the honeymoon phase eh?!

Hello ladies! I'm back from my ridiculous camping holiday, and it went surprisingly well - albeit that we had torrential rain and frost (it was so cold on Saturday night that a cup of water left in the porch of the tent overnight completely froze! Confused ) Definitely pleased that we bought new camp beds instead of using an airbed - I slept about as well as can be expected at the moment.

Birth plan wise, I don't have any ideas at present, other than I think a water birth might be nice. I'm pretty much thinking there's no point in being overly prescriptive.

I have the midwife tomorrow morning, and we're then going to go out to look at prams and things. We went to Mothercare the other evening, and I sort of got a bit overwhelmed and had to leave Sad Hopefully tomorrow will be more successful.

My bump is still absolutely tiny - I think baby must just be squashing everything else up. I've been finding myself getting incredibly out of breath already - presumably partially asthma related, but I'm not wheezing really, just short of breath. Just need to realise that I need to slow down I think...

The nursery is currently an absolute tip. We've stripped wallpaper, but that's it. There seems to be an issue with the guttering or flashing or something, so it's a bit damp, but the weather's been so dreadful there hasn't really been a good time for Mr Karate to go up onto the roof and have a look. No point in replastering until we've worked out what's causing the damp, so it's on hiatus at the moment. We've bought a cot bed, wardrobe, changing table, shelving unit and rocking chair (all second hand and really good value!) which are currently littering my dining room because there's nowhere else for them to go!

Hello,
I wondered if someone could tell me if the Facebook group is still active and who is the admin? I'm due mid-July and would love to join. Have been following this thread for the last few months.
Thanks!

Minster2012 · 02/04/2018 21:12

@karategirl I was the same with my first visit to mothercare & John Lewis, kinda just wandered and not dared touch anything, was totally overwhelmed!

We’ve been building our nursery furniture today too, second hand lovely solid oak stuff which we’re really pleased with, they just don’t make solid furniture like it any more! Cotbed, changing unit/drawers done, wardrobe nearly done, after parents lovingly put up our feature walk of owl wall paper last week! Starting to get excited!

I love that wallpaper @Minster2012

How far along is everyone now?

karategirl · 03/04/2018 18:22

@Minster2012 Such cute wallpaper! Your little one's nursery will be lovely.

We've ordered our travel system today! Although it comes with an infant carrier, we bought a car seat too, as we got extra discount for buying everything at once.

We went for the Venicci Soft - loved how smooth it felt, and the big wheels look like they'll do well over rough ground when we go out for walks. And the Cybex Sirona, which can be used up to 18kg, so should keep us going a while!

lifechangesforever · 03/04/2018 19:46

That room looks huge @Minster2012 - lucky little baby! This is DD's room, pretty much finished off now - just some shelves to go up with a few decorative pieces to go on.

I'm 25 weeks tomorrow @Winterfellismyhome How about you?

Anyone had the GTT test yet? Mine is next Friday, can't say I'm looking forward to it! Confused

What a gorgeous room @lifechangesforever! That’s looking fully done!! Beautiful!! The 2 wallpapers look amazing! Ours is too high to do any more walls because all of our ceilings are vaulted with the beams it’s just not possible to paper any other wall without scaffolding!! You want to see the state our lovely room is now?? There you go 🙈🙈that’s our handy work over the Easter break before we got fully frustrated with flat pack & seemingly huge Allen keys into tiny holes!!

@winterfelliscoming we are 24.5 weeks now, due 26th July, we had a midwife appointment today which neither I nor my DH could end up making it too, DH couldn’t get out of work & I got stuck in 4 hours of queuing traffic on the M62 trying to make it over to my friend after the m62 was closed whilst I was on my way over to the appointment. I was fuming.

But all ok for baby measurement & heartbeatwise, we are just having wranglings trying to sort out a social services report to ensure the surrogacy baby handover goes smoothly once he’s born & how to ensure we have everything in place our side in case we have to take him to A&E for instance before the legal parental order is granted which makes us the legal parents....can only be done once baby is between 6 weeks & 6 months old....all these things you don’t really think of (despite him being genetically ours it’s mind boggling the stupid legalities 🙄🙁)

Minster2012 · 03/04/2018 20:01

What’s a GTT test??

lifechangesforever · 03/04/2018 20:08

That is going to be a beautiful room - I absolutely love the beams and they match so well with your furniture!

It's the gestational diabetes test, I don't think everyone has them - think it might be if your BMI is over a certain number (i.e. you like your food too much like me!). This is what they do www.babycentre.co.uk/a1483/glucose-tolerance-test-gtt#section4

InstructionsRequired · 03/04/2018 20:24

WOW @minster2012 and @lifechangesforever your nurseries are looking fantastic! I’m 27 wks tomorrow and still haven’t bought a single thing Blush
Got our babymoon sorted though (priorities, eh?!) off in 3 wks and cannot wait for a week of chilling in the sun as have been feeling permanently wiped out these last few weeks. After that there’ll only be 9 wks til the due date so have GOT to start to get organised at that point with at least the newborn essentials.

Winterfellismyhome · 04/04/2018 00:50

@Minster2012 @lifechangesforever im 27 weeks tomorrow also!

Your nurseries are looking lovely. That must be so frustrating @Minster2012 about the paperwork

@InstructionsRequired Ooh im so jealous! Have a lovely time

karategirl · 04/04/2018 08:22

I'm so jealous of those beautiful rooms! Ours is an utter tip at the moment. We've stripped the wallpaper, but it needs replastering and there's no point in doing that until we've worked out whether the top of the wall is damp because the guttering or the lead flashing needs replacing... So I've just closed the door and forgotten about it for the time being!

Need to make a plan of action though, or I've no idea when it'll actually get done! And I'd quite like the nursery furniture to be moved out of my dining room at some point.

RaspberryBlonde · 05/04/2018 18:39

Lifechanges I think my brother has that wallpaper in my niece's nursery, it's really nice. Karate we have also barely done anything, apart from remove the double bed that was in there. Goodness knows when we will fit in the painting! DD slept in our room until she was 2 so think we are lacking a sense of urgency, but I know it will never get done after baby arrives.

I'm 25 weeks today and feeling fairly good. Have my whooping cough jab tomorrow though.

karategirl · 05/04/2018 21:07

@RaspberryBlonde we didn't even remove the double bed before stripping the wallpaper. Or, come to think of it, strip the bed... Just moved it to the centre of the room to think about later! Confused

On the plus side, lovely neighbour went up on the roof today and thinks he's sorted out the damp issue (hooray!)

I'm still not feeling masses of movement - I blame the anterior placenta - but it does feel like I keep being kicked in the cervix. Most disconcerting!

RaspberryBlonde · 06/04/2018 17:20

If only that was an option here karate! Sadly not enough space in our nursery to move if the bed was in the middle as it's L shaped. On the upside cot looks like it will fit beautifully in the bottom of the L!

lifechangesforever · 06/04/2018 17:23

This little girl never stops kicking now.. her favourite time is 3-5am Confused. She hasn't let DH have a feel though, he's just got to be content with the hundreds of videos I take Grin

Other than that, there isn't much going on really, just counting down the days until she's here.

Thanks for the comments on the room Smile we live in a very old house that has a lot of damp problems too and there isn't one straight wall either so needed thick textured wallpaper so I didn't know how the two patterns would look together, but I think it turned out great. The cot quilt and bumpers are just for show too, it's some time until she is actually in there! Dogs sleep in my bedroom and one of them is 9 Blush

InstructionsRequired · 06/04/2018 17:34

Haha @lifechangesforever my dog also sleeps in our bedroom and she’s 12. Not sure how she’s going to feel when her bed in our room has to be moved to make room for the Moses basket Confused

Winterfellismyhome · 09/04/2018 21:27

Anyone else had really dry hands? HmmConfused
