Due in June - am I unreasonable to expect the nanny to give birth for me?

Ooh, sorry, got distracted there with my work. (AAARRRGGGGHHHH, have so much to do, must stop coming back to Mumsnet...)

Baby hammock is... wait for it (reads up on links again and finds the relevant website)... here!

YOu can use them instead of moses baskets. And I have a vison of using it in the garden, under a tree, rocking baby into sweet cry-free dreams. (Yes, I'm a first timer. Don't shatter my dreams yet... )

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 16:13

Yes, Holly I think you should get your skates on with the birthing pool! Need to shop around, wait for delivery, try it out, blah blah......Yes, you've reminded me I had some grapes too

Love the hammock Marylou, very nice. Think DH would have a fit of I supposed it. I can just hear "its a lot of money for what it is....."

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 16:14

supposed it? I mean suggested it.

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 16:21

Oh crap! Just spoke to dp and all 3 boys are coming ! I shall be doing some serious not being in my house this weekend!

I love those hammocks marylou, but I already have a crib and a moses basket, so couldn't justify buying one !

I think I'll get a pool from ebay. You can buy ones on there that people never had the chance to use and are much cheaper. I don't really want to be spending about £100 on one as I might not get to use it either, you never know what will happen. I shall start looking now, so hopefully I'll find one soon. The thought of not using a pool fills me with dread!

marylou23 · 20/04/2007 16:22

Yes, but I won DH over with the whole 'our baby will never cry if it has a hammock' argument. Plus the 'we'll both cry if he doesn't get one' argument. Poor DH, he's developed a very good line in resigned shrugs lately... ALthough he has just emailed me to say 'I know you're on Mumsnet. Do some work. SOmeone's got to pay for all the crap you're buying'. The guy has a point...

marylou23 · 20/04/2007 16:23

Will it double up as a paddling pool/mini swimming pool in the summer, Holly? (after you've been at it with the sieve, obviously... )

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 16:25

Well that's what I thought marylou and it's deep enough to teach dd to swim in!! No need to shell out on swimming lessons! Cheapskate..me? Never!!

I'm really getting into this decorating thing! I have been sat down with the Homebase and B&Q colour charts deciding what colour to do our bedroom!

OP posts:
marylou23 · 20/04/2007 16:39

And as a fan of Ugly Betty, you'll know the colours that go (and the ones that don't...)

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 16:40

Indeed!!

seansgirl - i had a bit of a headstart on getting organised for this one! Have lent out all of my stuff so just a case of bringing it back.

Holly, I've a heap of 'as new, if not new' blue vests and stuff. Want them? Things like that are so cheap now its easier to go and get them from Primark for the time they wear them, but mine have to go somewhere and are free so you'd be welcome to them (or anyone else for that matter

Marylou, go with HotPantGirl! Even if you aren't you can imagine!

Foxybrown came from a dodgy '70s film, a female, undercover cop whose names included Misty Cotton (which I loved). After a girly weekend of red wine and dodgy 70's films my flatmate and I reinvented ourselves. We still call each other by our adopted names. Reminds me of those fun days!

marylou23 · 20/04/2007 17:05

Sound very Tarantino to me - what was that film he did? Jackie Brown? Something brown, anyway, and she sure was Foxy...

foxybrown · 20/04/2007 17:09

Yes! It was her, Pam something! Grier? Don't know, but she was in both.

Obviously mine was taken from the original

marylou23 · 20/04/2007 17:15

Yeah, you see Jackie Brown would have HotPantsGirl for breakfast. ALthough, maybe Hotpantsgirl could learn kung fu?

Hmmm. This could be interesting...

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 17:18

Bless you foxy, you're a super star! I may take you up on that offer! Buying boys' clothes is no way as fun as buying girls', it's more of a chore than a fun pastime!

I am watching dp come home on the tracking website! He is on Hampton Court Road! I feel like a detective!

You could be catsuitgirl marylou, like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill. Then you and foxybrown could have a proper fight !

TALLULAHBELLE · 20/04/2007 17:25

Hi all - just home from my first day back at work. Had an easy day of it but all I can say is TFIFriday! Got 3 more weeks to go - grumble, grumble, must soldier on. Fear will never keep up with you lot now that work in the way.

Doggus - I have ordered a Loola. Can't really remember anything about it except that I was in Pram Centre with DH, DM & DF for hours and in state of total confusion. I would have taken lethal injection to get out of that place. The woman was demonstrating it to someone else and it looked like it folded up quite small so that decided it. Hope it's a good choice.

annobal · 20/04/2007 17:46

Hey all. Kids been fed, are now play-fighting, which will end in tears! I'm just waiting for DH to get home to put them in the bath.

I like your name, MaryLou - am also heartily sick of Annobal as I use it for everything.

What's the tracking website Holly? Am keen to see if DH is close

foxybrown · 20/04/2007 18:07

ohh, catsuitgirl! like it.

Perhaps I'll wear one tonight. DP taking me out for dinner to a post restaurant in West Kensington. Was wondering what to wear!

Annobel, am v jealous yours are fed. mine are abondoning the delicious meal lovingly prepared as I write.

sputnik · 20/04/2007 18:10

God you lot have been busy! Love the new thread title, lets not fritter it away on idle chit chat girls, we need to keep it going at least a week for maximum visibility and therefore irritation value.

I'm back at home, and away from MIL's dangerous rice, hooray!

Feeling very virtuous as I spent most of the day doing admin, which I hate, composing letters to clients who haven't paid and generally doing all the things I've been putting off because I'd rather be on MN. Yes it's all your fault
Luckily my job is one I can do in bed, just about.

Just wanted to say to all lurkers/infrequent posters, don't be shy, the more the merrier! Some of us have been on this thread for ages and others not that long, it doesn't matter

foxybrown · 20/04/2007 18:18

I agree Sputnik (glad you are out of the danger zone, btw). Makes me feel a bit bad that we might be thought of being a bit cliquey!

Its only because I'm so adept at ignoring my children that I'm on here all the time! And I desperately lack adult company in RL.

Right, got shouting to do.

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 18:28

That's why I'm on here all the time too foxy! Need adult conversation, even if it is about sex toys, expression bras and other random stuff! I hope we're not cliquey.

All newcomers and infrequent posters we welcome you with open arms!!!

Glad you are back home sputnik, at least you can relax a bit more at home.

Dd and I have had our yummy jacket potatoes for tea. The boys can have hotdogs (hehe) therefore I don't have to cook them! There is only a few select meals I will cook them because they moan if things have lumps in (eg pasta sauce), they won't eat the skins of jacket potatoes and they hardly eat veg. I cannot be doing with cooking loads of meals, so they eat what I make or they go without, simple!

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 18:40

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 18:56

Glad to hear you're back Sputnik!
Oh, Holly poor you! But well done on the hotdogs - go for junk out of packets- they'll love it! heeheee! Hope they don't cause you tooo much grief this weekend.

Yes! lurkers, please come out and chat away, we are just on here so much cos we lack adult stimulation!
